Close to a Must Have
The Left Side Support extension is everything it is supposed to be. Solid, heavy, a good general fit, and with thoughful design features which make it a 'natural'accessory. Marginally off horizontal at full extension (slightly below table level), I temporarily compensated with (gulp) a 1/4" Duct Tape longitudional strip as a 'shim' on the outer arm top (nice and easy to instal, stays put, and is 'slippery'). I'll get around to a better solution with a washer or two on the mount bracket (maybe). I think this Support Extension is just about a must have, and is well enough constructed to be worth the price paid.

Very useful
This side extension is very worth the money. It's easy to install and works smoothly. It does droop a bit so may need some washers on the far bolts to level it out.
If you have the Bosch 4000, you should have this side extension.

A must own add-on to an already excellent saw
The extension is a great add to the Bosch 4000 saw. It installs easily and operates smoothly. The extension is all steel construction and uses aluminum brackets to attach to the underside of the table. The extra support is great for crosscutting long boards and definitely saves time not having to setup sawhorses or roller supports.

A tip to the perfectionist group - the extension does have a minor amount of slop/droop (about 1/16" in my case) when extended. I remedied the problem with one 1/4" internal tooth lock washer placed between the bracket and the body of the saw on both the front and rear. Torque it down to flatten the washer as much as possible being careful not to strip the saw housing. Placing the washer on the inside bolt of the two keeps the extension fairly level throughout the span of the extension.

Must Have this
If you own the saw, get this. Improves stability when cutting long or wide pieces. Installs in minutes and stores flush to table.

Great portability, poor precision
I must admit, I didn't buy this from Amazon. I got mine from Woodworker's Warehouse when they were going out of business. If the sale hadn't been final, I would have returned it. The ability to take this table anywhere is wonderful. And if you don't need pinpoint accuracy from the fence on the job-site, then this table is for you. The large work surface is good. After drilling an extra hole, I was able to mount my PC 7518 underneath. The table itself has allt he basic features of any basic table, but the fence is poorly designed and frankly a pain to adjust. I have used it and will continue to use it in the field, but I will not use it in the shop.

Shipping problems... TWICE!!
The table actually looks as if it would be great... if it would ever arrive in one piece. Amazon had two tries at shipping this table to me. The first one arrived completely smashed. The box looked as if it had been handled by a clamp truck. I returned it and Amazon was good about shipping another one promptly, but this one too, arrived in unusable, unsalvageable condition. The problem seems to be that Bosch does not package the table with enough protection for shipping and UPS handles it like they are in a Samsonite commercial. I ended up canceling the order. Very disappointing, since I have not seen the table offered at any local dealers.

Had some problems out of the box.
I just bought this table a few days ago and am generally happy with the sturdiness of the table itself. However, the left fence did not line up with the right fence. I think the fence is made out of cast aluminum not iron as it is pretty lite. I set the fence on the table and it wobbled, when I checked with a straight edge it was 1/16" off, the left side of the left fence tiled backward. I took the fence back and got a replacement fence and it was ok. The way the fence mounts to the table is with carriage bolts, this seemed pretty tacky to me for such an expensive table. When ever you adjust the fence, you have to reach under the table and apply pressure to the carriage bolts to keep them from turning as you try to retighten. The mounting plate has hole patterns for bosch routers so my dewalt would not fit without drilling, my Porter Cable fit into the existing holes ok. The base plate has no provision for adjusting the height to make it flush with the table, mine is lower than the table by about 1/16 inch. This was noticable because the first board I ran through it hung up on the base plate, then the chamfer was not perfect because of the warped fence. Not very impressive. I will fix the base plate by drilling 4 holes in the corners and threading them and installing allen screws for leveling. I would probably but this table again because I need something portable but I am not happy with having to "fix" the table to make it work right.

Another great product from Bosch.
Wood working is currently one of my more recent obsessions, and fortunately I have the luxury of buying the best with portability being the limiting factor. The garage is home for the cars. I do quite a bit of research before choosing a particular brand and Bosch is one the main choices for my woodworking tools.

Why Bosch above all others is mostly due to how well constructed and thought out these tools are. This router table is no exception. Mostly assembled, the table is easily finished with a screwdriver. Upon first look this table is HEAVY (70 lbs!). It is solid everywhere, almost overly so. The legs seem as if they are made for the weight of a small car. The legs fold easily and lie flat; the motion of which reminds me of tools built long ago. The fence is made of a cast iron base and a wood face attached with carriage bolts and plastic/metal knobs. There are shims included for using the table as a jointer. All the metal/ plastic parts are finely finished and made of thick quality materials. In fact, easily the best I've seen for mainstream tools. No cheapness here. All the small parts are separated into small re-useable zip lock bags. (Nice touch). The router base (phenolic) is better than most - again thick - but could be of a material more suitable with the rest of the table. The base plate is easily leveled and as a benefit can be bolted to the table for transport or storage.

I have little to say about the operation. Which in its self is a compliment. The setup is effortless and it works. The Off/On switch is a great touch. The fence yields to nothing as if were made of granite. The plate is another story as it does flex. I have used it with softwoods and have had no problems. But with some effort you can see it move.

The biggest complaint is of the most convenient parts. The On/Off switch. It's nice to have -period- and it's placed where it's needed at the end of the table. It seems that it could be easily broken by the sheer weight of the table when unfolding. Mine was fixed by having wing nuts and studs replacing the screws making it easy to remove before storage. ... Nice extension, wish it had two stops
I bought this extension for my Bosch 3915 SCMS, and it came a few days after the saw did. It works well for holding work in place, but I do wish it came with two stops. It's a relatively minor complaint, and it's served me well, so I give it four stars.

Useful addition to the saw but should be included
This is a useful addition to the Bosch sliding miter saw. Provides support for longer pieces and includes a stop for repetetive cuts. Unfortuneately, they don't store underneath the saw--they always stick out. You must get to the underside of the saw to attach or remove them. In my opinion, extensions should be included with all miter saws. With the Bosch they're not included, but the price of the saw is low enough that you can add the extensions and still walk away cheaper than the other saws on the market. ... Read more

Belt failure
The idea is great. I was impressed with the sander, however the quality of the belts has something to be desired. I usually find belt sanders to use the belt to the bitter end (until the grit just plain wears out). However, the 80 grit belts may develop too much heat (my inpression) for the glue used to join the belt together. With this sander i was never able to use the belt to the end, in fact out of 11 belts used 8 of them failed prematurely all spliting right at the joint and as if the glue on the back patch (looks like tape) just seperated from the belt. No tears and the belt itself was in very good conditon. None of the belts lasted as long as usually could be expected the three others also failed but put up a better fight.

Bosch Mini-sander belts
This is a situation where you have yo buy a poorly designed product because there is no alternative. Don't get me wrong the sander itself is fast, great for removing old paint from tight places like shutters. But the seam on the belts almost always breaks before the grit even starts to wear out. I suspect the glue is affected by temperature as the plate gets very hot at higher speeds. Only at the lowest speeds does it seem to last. I wish I could buy a sanding sleeve and cut it down, but the Bosch belts are metric. Bosch should obviously redesign their seam , maybe in a zig-zag rather than plain diagonal, and absolutely change to a glue or tape that is unaffected by heat. ... Read more

works like a charm
This clamp is designed to fit in the Bosch 10" sliding compound miter saw (it probably fits in other Bosch tools, but I don't know), and it works wonderfully. Quick to clamp, and quick to remove, it is firm, and has a pad to avoid marring the wood. Having a pair helps in quality of cut, because the wood is always helf firmly in place (especially during a bevel).

Like the clamp - it has a sliding adjsutment that makes it quick to use and when clamped down - the wood is going any place. Works great on the sliding compound saw.

They stop splintering, but so does fine tooth blades
I thought that since they were clear plastic, they would do the job, and not get in the way of being able to see the line. Wrong! They fog up with wood dust on the underside, right away, and the line is impossible to see. When I wanted to see where my marks were at the end of the cut, I had to guess.
In terms of getting a straight aim, Bosch put a V groove on the leading edge. If you were making a completely through cut, then the splintering inserts are a good thing to have. But when I tried to see where my cut would stop, it was buried under the insert, and couldn't see my mark. So I guessed. The net result is an inaccurate cut. When I took the insert off, I could make the cut, and come to an exact mark.
The insert blocks the blower from being able to get to the wood, so it is only cleaning off the top. Having used it both ways, it is nowhere near as good as eyeballing the blade.
I know they are inexpensive, so I shouldn't get so excited. The reason why I feel bad is that one came with the jigsaw, and instead of using it, I went ahead and bought a five pack of them.
I used a finer tooth blade, made my cuts into 3/4" oak with the splintering inserts installed. It made a very smooth cut without splintering. I removed the inserts, and used the same finer tooth blade, made my cuts, and it also made a very smooth cut without splintering.
End of story, just use a good finer tooth blade. The Bosch blades are Swiss made, and they are so sharp they are almost scary. They fly through the material, and don't create any splinters, just clean smooth edges.
My advice, put the money toward a new pack of fine tooth blades.

I prefer reverse tooth or fine blades when I don't want splinters. That way I can keep a close eye on the cut which is harder with these. If you are using a straight edge I suppose they would be more useful. For a truly clean cut I make a rough cut about 1/8" larger and then use a router and a straight edge for the final clean up. bad batch?
maybe just a bad batch but the "heads" all broke off on 75% of each bit on the fisrt attempt to drill. nothing bad about the material i was drilling; the bits i used from lowes all worked for 40-60 holes per bit in 4" slab concrete (cured). ... Read more
