Poor workmanship
There is no way that this long blade adaptor can be leveled with the horizontal stone on the 23-710 Sharpener. It too is a poorly designed piece of equipment. The support can not be lowered sufficiently and even then it is about 1/4" higher on one side of the stone than the other. It is obvious that little engineering went into this support. I can not recommend this to anyone. It is a pure waste of money as is the sharpening center itself. I finally gave up trying to make use if this unit and bought a Swedish made one. Now, that one is a great 5+ star unit.

can't level as manual suggests
the only problem i had with this adapter is that the instructions in the manual for leveling it with the stones are incorrect. the set screws for the mounting bar go into a groove in it, so you can't rotate it. but, i simply spun the mounting bar so i DON'T hit the groove, and it's fine now. i'm not horribly THRILLED about that, but i can tolerate it. ... A Great Accessory
After using my Delta saw and 30" Unifence with the 50-277 mobile base for a few months, I was concerned about having the extension table simply suspended above the floor while I moved the saw. It worked, but it was certainly not elegant. Worse, when the table legs were lifted off the floor and then thumped down when the base was lowered into position, it looked as if the resulting torque and impact eventually might do some damage.

The Delta 50-285 solved the problem beautifully. Assembly was very straightforward, taking about twenty minutes.

Now, moving the saw is easy and--most important--the entire assembly is completely supported by the steel understructure.

There is nothing fancy here; it is a marvelous low-tech answer to the challenge of having this indispensable power tool easily and securely transportable in a small shop space. ... Read more

Safer Routing and Sawing
I bought this to help hold the wood when coping door stiles and for any other routing and sawing where I feel safer with something else other than my hands holding the wood. It works very well. The two clamps provided are all made of metal except for the locking lever, and they can be positioned in various ways.

A good jig but it could be better.
I recently purchased this jig because I saw that Norm Abram's used it on his show. I wanted to be able to do my coping on door frames more accurately and safely. I was a little disappointed when the jog arrived. The miter gage assembly was loose and the adjustment even with the adjustment under the jig tightened fully. The adjustment screw had an extra "wavy" washer under it which tells me that the manufacturer knew there was a problem before it left the factory. Delta has ordered a new base plate for me but it will take at least 6 weeks to arrive. Another problem I saw was that it is difficult to get adequate clamping pressure because the vertical posts flex too much. The materials used on this jig are heavy and that's why I am not sure why it fails to hold the work piece solidly. Even with the problems I have stated the jig is still safer than using a miter gage alone. A shaper is the most dangerous machine in the shop and so I'd rather use a jig that needs some improvement than be hurt me a kick-back.

Wish Someone Else Would Make This
If a competitor of Delta made a sled like this I would give this one away. Many of the hold-downs have broken with normal use. Every time I use it I would like to throw it in the trash, but, I have not been able to find anything that accomplishes the same task as this. Delta Knock-off's
I ordered the Delta 37-365X Jointer and a set of knives for back up. When the knives arived, they were not in a Delta box and Delta's name/part number was not printed on the knives. Not a good fit for my band saw
I bought the Delta 28-206 14" enclosed base band saw, and the Platinum accessory package which included the 50-274 mobile base. There were instructions on how to assemble the base, but not on how to attach it to my band saw. It looked like it was supposed to replace the 4" thick base that came with the saw, but it didn't fit. It was about a 1/4" to narrow for the band saw base to fit in it. I solved it by putting the regular base back on, and drilling holes in it to bolt the mobile base to the standard base. With 8 bolts holding it in place it is solid enough, but its about 4 inches higher than normal. Since I'm a tall guy its not a problem for me. The mobile base is still a great idea though. I have a standard 2 car garage for a shop, so the ability to move my stuff around is really important. This base works like a dream. I'd recommend it, just be aware you may have to do a few modifications to mount your equipment.

This mobile base does NOT FIT the new Delta 14" 28-206 BSaw
It's a great and well made base but unfortunately it does not fit (despite its description of "fits all Delta 14" bandsaws) the new Delta 28-206 bandsaw. You could make it work by bolting a square of plywood to the mobile base then attaching the saw to that. Kind of a pain.

Protecting your valuable woodworking machinery
A couple of years ago, I experienced a water line leaking above my Unisaw. By the time I discovered the leak, the cast iron table top and extension had started to rust. I immediately got a Delta Mobile Base to move the saw. I have been so pleased with the setup that I decided to purchase a mobile base for the 14" band saw. My bandsaw is an older model without the black metal casing at the bottom of the enclosed stand. Despite the smaller dimensions of my bandsaw at the bottom, the fit in the mobile base is good, although I may add some 1" lumber (thickness) around the bottom perimiter of the stand to create a tighter fit. The foot lever for elavating the base is easy to operate and when engaged, the base easily rolls on two wide wheels. When stationary, the base is very stable. Whether you need a mobile base due to limited shop space or as a means for protecting your equipment from overhead water lines, I strongly recommend this base - even for older Rockwell/Delta woodworking equipment. ... Cleaner air! Increased airflow! Works great[.]
I just installed my 1-micron bags. What a difference! It's true, the 1-micron bags do not inflate up hard like the original bags that came with the dust collector. Since the 1-micron bags allow so much more air to pass through more easily, do not expect them to be inflated hard and stiff. The 1-micron bags have less resistance to air flow. To test, I held the original bags and the 1-micron bags over my mouth to see how breathable they were. The 1-micon bags were very easy to breath through and the original bags were very restrictive. I purchased the 1-micron bags for two reasons, (1) I breath anything that the bags do not collect and (2) I started noticing a very light dust covering over items in my storage room where I also keep the dust collector after about 2 weeks of use (I just installed my dust collection system.) I can only imagine what it would look like after 2 years with the original bags. Keeping things clean is the original reason I bought the dust collection system in the first place. My only negative is I think these bags are a bit pricey but I still worth a 5-Star rating.

bad QC
I received my dustbags today and tried to put them on. Unfortunately what I received must have been a training version for a first-day employee. It was covered with red marker ink indicating where they were supposed to sew loops and seams. Unfortunately, the person marking it must have also been having a bad day. Some loops were marked and sewn 5" apart, while others, were more that 24" apart (trust me, I measured). Needless to say, I have requested an exchange from Amazon[.com]--let's hope Delta's QC folks don't let more of these out.

Also typical of the last few teims I purchased from Delta, the packaging and/or directions don't match the current state of the product--this one came in a package that said top dust bag, so I started to worry, but then there was obviosly the bottom bag in the package as well.

Reduces air velocity
I think the other reviews are fairly accurate, however I would like to point out that I have noticed a small decrease in the suction pressure/air velocity. If you feel your collector is just barely pulling in the dust then these bags may hurt you more than they help. Otherwise, these bags are well made and a very good value.

You need them if your DC's in the same room
These bags are a necessity if, like most of us, you place the dust collector in the same room you work in. However, if you are able to locate the machine in a separate room, or within an enclosure vented to the outside, then you don't really need to invest in 1-micron bags. Why? because problem these bags solve is the dust that exhausts through the standard 30-micron bags.

I built a small shed enclosure outside my garage for the machine. Now all the dust coming through the 30-micron bags goes outside where it does no harm.

One caution, though: when you solve one problem, you create another. This machine moves about a garage-full of air every minute or so. If you think about it, that's a lot of air leaving the room. If you don't have the (dust-laden) air coming back into the room through the 30-micron bags, then you have to have intake air from somewhere. That usually means from outside, and in cold climates it will be hard to keep the workspace warm.

So you hardy folk in the north climates will have to struggle with either 1) dust, 2) buying the 1-micron bags, or 3) how to stay warm with 1,100 cfm of cold air rushing into the room. There's no free lunch (unless you live in California).

Well constructed bags
When you look at the package you can see they are much thicker than the normal bags. They are made of heavy felt about 1/8" with the soft fuzzy felt on the outside, and on the inside the felt is coated with a spray that I understand helps with the 1 micron aspect. The bottom bag has elastic sewn into the edge so that it is infinately easier to attach it to the DC and adjust the tightening band...very nice...the belt loops are made of the same material as the bag. The entire bags are double sewn and seem to be of good qaulity (no bad stitching), the seams of the bag are on the outside so that the interior of the bag has minimal oppurtunity to leak...the only 'gripes' are as to the bags not inflating as tightly as the 'leaky' 30 micron bags they replaced, makes me wonder if I am stressing my motor and/or getting the same volume of suction. [The old bag was tight and fully standing up when in use, this bag inflates maybe half as much, and when you poke the bag there isn't the tension on the surface like the old. I ran some clean 2x4s through the planer (the most voluminous tool and one farthest from the DC) and the pick up was good and similar o before. When I put my hand near an active outlet the suction seams quite good and similar to before.], the bags don't seem to be 'oversized' as I expected them to be, the tightening belt needs one more knotch, as one knotch was too loose for holding the bags on, and the next knotch seemed almost too tight. If I see a major reduction in the residual dust in my shop (the dust that settles after you leave for the evening) then I would change my rating to 5 star.

Update: I have since learned that the 1 micron bags do not inflate like the normal ones, there is more air that passes through the bag and therefore it doesn't inflate. Imagine a balloon with several pinpricks in it....it will inflate slower than a normal balloon, now add many more pinpricks and the balloon will become very difficult to inflate.

I have almost no dust on general surfaces now that I use this bag and have installed a 4" PVC DC system...I now believe that the suction i have is better than before, also with the bags my motor never whines when i am trying to pick up a lot of dust and chips...I am changing my review to 5 stars as all my expectations have been met, and feel confident that these bags are a good investment...I read in a dust collecting book that one should try to first spend money on good 1 micron bags before getting an overhead air cleaner....I don't see any reason to buy/make an air cleaner now...so money not spent on an air cleaner has more than paid for these bags... ... Worth the money
I put all of my machines on mobile bases, and have had mixed luck with various manufacturers. By far my best experiences have been with the bases made for specific machines. They're a cinch to get together and start using. This one was no exception. Its very sturdy and with a good push you can jump on your DJ-20 and surf it down the driveway (just kidding). It isn't the one shown in the picture here (obviously a joiner won't fit on that) but it is better- with a foot pedal for lifting/lowering. Highly recommended.

Top Quality Base
All of my shop machines are on mobile bases. Some are home-made but the heavy pieces like the DJ20 jointer are on Delta bases. Like the other Delta bases, this is top quality. I had some initial concerns about putting this heavy jointer on a mobile base, but I am very pleased that I did. The mobile base moves the jointer very easily across some oversized garage floor expansion joints. You can't go wrong by purchasing this base.

If you have a DJ20 you need this base
I have several machines on Delta mobile bases. After discovering how well they are made and how well they work when I got my first one with my Unisaw, I don't even think twice now when I buy a new machine, I always get the Delta base to go with it. I just got a DJ20. This is one big, heavy jointer. It's about 475 lbs, about the same as a Unisaw, but this jointer is very long and possibly awkward to move. But my DJ20 is really easy to move and manouver around my small shop using this base. Good Extension, once you figure out the trick for alignment
If the paint color had been anywhere close to the color of my midi lathe, I might have given it 5 stars.

Also, I spent almost 45 minutes trying to get the darned thing aligned right. Then, when I thought I had it right, I tried to put the tailstock back on. It came to an abrupt halt at the connection point. Taking it back off and feeling the inside edge, I realized I had missed by less that a 64th of an inch. The positive thought was "Wow, the tailstock was sure machined for a nice, close tolerance, but what a pain to get aligned!"

Then it struck me, "Hey, why not use the tailstock as an alignment tool." So, I loosened the bolts, slid the tailstock to the midpoint of the intersection, tightened it up, bingo! Perfectly aligned! Do recheck with a dependable straight edge after re-tightening the bolts, though.

I highly recommend that Delta change their simple little, one-page instruction sheet to include that little tip. Turns a 45 minute task into a 2 minute job. And after all, some of us bought this configuration because of space considerations, and we are likely to set it up and take it apart several times a year!

Must for small shop
Just the best device to move your equipment.
With out them I could not have the machines because there would not be enough room in my basement shop and I do not wish to heat another space.
They are over priced for what they are but to some of us a necessity. Good quality and function.
