5-0 out of 5 stars CUT THE ELECTRIC CORD
AS A CABINET INSTALLER A MITER SAW IS A MUST. BOSCH'S 10" 24 VOLT COMPOUND MITER SAW IS POWERFUL ENOUGH TO CUT THROUGH 6" HARD WOOD FILLERS AND 4-1/2" CROWN MOLDING WITH NO PROBLEMS. THE LIGHT WEIGHT AND PORTABILITY OF THIS SAW MAKES IT GREAT FOR PICKUP WORK. ONE BATTERY WILL LAST ALL DAY AND INTO THE NEXT. THE VARIOUS ACCESSERIES AVAILABLE MAKE THIS SAW COMPARABLE TO THE BOSCH 10" ELECTRIC.THIS SAW HAS THE BIGGEST BLADE AND LARGEST BATTERY CAPACITY OF ANY CORDLESS ON MARKET TODAY FOR THE PRICE. GOOD JOB BOSCH.

5-0 out of 5 stars no cord? no worries
I have all the 24 volt bosch stuff and love them so I tried this saw. At first I was a bit concerned, after all a cordless miter saw?, 900+ sqft of heart pine floring later, I was convinced, I had only charged the batteries once! 900+ sqft on 2 batteries! Now I leave my other Bosch 10" slider and DeWalt 12" chop at home. This saw is so light and powerful you'll be addicted. The only thing I questioned was the price...Did I really need to go cordless? This is my list of projects that convinced me this tool was worth the extra money: our deck, the boat house, gazeebo, pickett fences, tree house, and work around our cabin. All cordless I love this saw!

2-0 out of 5 stars This saw is way too expensive
Look. This saw is way, way too expensive. If you need an extra 24 volt battery and charger, just buy them. With the money left over you could also buy a better corded miter saw and an oversized circular saw to boot. Even then, you would still have enough money left over to celebrate feeling so good about your wise choices.

5-0 out of 5 stars What cord?
Used this saw for about a year. I love this thing. Great for every carpentry job. It has plenty of balls. Lightweight. Nothing bad to say.

I am not sure why Amazon only gave Donald 1 battery. I have sold over 30 of these saws through Amazon and they all have had 2 batteries. Donald, Amazon should allow you to return the item and get your money back. I would be glad to sell you a saw with 2 batteries, however my saw only has 1 blade. My saws can no longer be listed under this model number, so look under model 3924K. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great deal on a planer
I have used this planer primarily on doors in my house. In particular, I've found it long enough to get the start and end of the edge planed without "clipping" the edge. I'm not an expert door-hanger -- but it has easily paid for itself in saved labor costs.

A few words of advice on (interior doors). Plane when your house is MOST humid (usually in the summer) as the doors expand and you want them to close easily when they are most expanded. Be sure to plane an extra 1/64" or so to allow yourself a gap for a primer and at least one if not two finished coats of paint on the side edge of your doors. As for the tops and bottoms, leave them unpainted to allow the wood to dry if they are new doors, otherwise, a matching primer is more than enough and you need not bother with a finish coat of paint. Unless your doors is really badly off, you will not need to re-seat the hardware, but be prepared to if necessary. But before you start, make sure all of your hinge plates are on tight. No use taking a plane to a door if the problem is not the size of the door, but loose hingest. If so, replace the hinge screws with longer ones, and be sure to pre-drill the holes first to prevent cracking the door or jamb wood.

This tool beats hand planing allowing you to complete a door in just a few minutes. It will take you more time to get the door off and remove the hardware than to plane the edges. Adjustments are easy. I found this tool to be almost identical to the Makita planer which I borrowed prior to purchasing this one. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Bosch--The Best

I am trilled with this hammers performance. hands down Bosch is the Best!! Bosch craftmanship is superior, no complaints what so ever. I highly recommend

5-0 out of 5 stars Light & Hard Hitting
I am no stranger to midweight electric demolition hammers. I have owned Bosch hammers in this class and I have used dozens of rentals, mainly Kango. I can't rate it against the competition brands such as Makita or Hitachi because I have not used them, but I can tell why I love this hammer.
It is light and compact; seeing the case you would not think that it was a demolition hammer. I stress that it is smaller and lighter than other hammers of similar capability that I have used. By smaller I am I mean shorter by several inches. Desipte its size and weight it hits hard and I am judging this by extensive experience with hammers in this class.
SDS max demolition hammer bits are becoming easy to find in retail hardware and lumber yards and this can mean a lot if you break a point off early in the day on a critical job.
You don't have to turn the tool off when you are not engaging the tool into the work, at least , there is no mention of this in the manual and it doesn't have the conventional trigger switch. In the past I have found that the switches often wore out due to the constant on off needed to prevent damage to the hammering mechanism. Now I just leave it running when lifting the tool to a new position, or in the case of clay spade digging, rocking the tool to break up compacted soil.
I wish I could say that it is long lasting and rugged but I have only put a few hours of use on it; so far so good. At least I can say that the feel of it inspires my confidence that it will be a performer over time and my experience with Bosch tools in other catagories has been good.
To sum it all up, smaller and lighter translates into less problem and work for me. Hard hitting means good production and more money for me. SDS tool availibility means I can get new bits easily when I need them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Skeptical
When I ordered the demolition hammer I thought I was ordering the much larger and powerful "brute breaker" demo hammer. I was very upset and considered sending the tool back but the tool was half the price of the brute breaker hammer and I thought I'd give it a try. It has proven to be all I ever needed for the jobs I have around my home. I've broken up 4" concrete with ease. Dug 16" deep footers and 30" deep fence post holes in minutes vice hours. The main reason I purchased it was for the ground around my house because it is mostly "hardpan" clay that is nearly impossible to dig in with normal hand tools. This demo hammer is the right tool for my needs and, unless you need to tear out something tougher than 4" thick concrete, it may be the back and money saving tool for you too.

5-0 out of 5 stars builder/remodeler
I just got this one and I love it. Very, very good power to weight ratio. Punches thru 4 inch slabs easily. If you have to do this kind of work, this is an impressive tool. It took a little longer going thru a 6 inch stem wall, but much less toll on the body and ears than using a 90 lb pneumatic jack in a horizontal position. If you have to do some demo work under the house, this is the only way to go. It can take apart brick work easily. The shovel attachment goes thru hard soil like it's warm butter. I used the earlier verision that belonged to a friend and now I wonder why I waited so long to get this one. It comes with a plastic case which is OK, but I would have much prefferd a metal case for this brute. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Bosch recently introduced routers that it claims have the highest power-to-weight ratio in the industry. We believe them. The 1618EVS is a member of Bosch's new Magnesium line. This variable-speed router features a stout 2-horsepower motor coupled with an all-magnesium base and housing. The result is a lightweight, well-balanced, and smooth-operating machine that offers fast results in demanding applications. The D-handle provides excellent control--especially when reaching and turning on and off--and the auxiliary handle reverses, which is handy. (Bosch's 1617 model features this same motor in a base that has two nicely finished, hard maple, knob-style handles: it's prettier than the 1618 but not quite as easy to grip.)

Something Bosch engineers are proudest of is what they call the "precision centering system," which makes the router bit track at true center. It's an important feature for multiple-pass applications like jig cutting, and fine woodworkers will particularly appreciate it. Ease of height adjustment is a way of measuring quality in routers, and Bosch has come up with a system that works as well as any we've tested. A large flip lever releases the motor for adjusting. Rather than twisting as the height changes, the motor raises and drops in a straight path. The result is a simple and smooth-working course-adjust that couples with an efficient microadjust to make fine-tuning the depth of cut easy and accurate. Removing the motor from the base is a similar operation: simply release the flip lever, depress the course-adjustment lever, slide the motor out until it stops, then turn the motor counterclockwise and pull. It couldn't be easier, and there's no thumbscrew to wrestle with. Anyone who switches bases frequently will appreciate this design.

The 1618EVS also has soft start and electronic variable speed, more or less industry standards today. The collet is self-releasing, which means there's no need to tap the spindle to change bits, and the collet depth is 13/16 of an inch, a few 16ths deeper than that of DeWalt or Porter-Cable--one more weapon in Bosch's battle for a truly centered bit. --Mark McDonald ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Nice job, Bosch!
After using those other brands of lower powered routers, I bought this along with the Bosch table. The D-Handle it much more user friendly and seems to be safer. You can pull the trigger without having to remove one hand to turn it on like the dual-knob routers. The electronic speed control keeps the motor from being bogged down by heavy loads, giving you a more even cut. I have almost never had to make two passes on anything with this one. If you are trying to decide on variable speed or not, definately go with the variable speed. With the speed control in this router you can use lower speeds and keep the cut even without burning the wood constantly...very hard to sand out at times without [messing] up the even route. Don't skimp on the price when it comes to a good router you plan on using much. This, like the other Bosch routers, is very light weight and easy to handle...very safe as well!

5-0 out of 5 stars By far the BEST Router--Thanks Bosch!!
This is by far the best router that I have used, and I've used them all! It is incredibly powerful, quiet, well designed, easy to handle, and light. The soft start feature is a huge plus. The variable speed is very helpful. Heck of a deal for the money.

I use this tool with the Bosch Deluxe edge guide to make trim and moulding. No question this is professional level tool that great for homeowner and contrator.

I love this thing! I have yet to find something I don't like.

3-0 out of 5 stars height adjustment
My original purchase intent was the Milwaukee, but I purchased the Bosch based on favorable reviews I read. . I find the height adjustment to be a little on the weak side. The locking clamp will not sufficiently release the motor body for movement unless the tension is backed off with a wrench. After setting the height, the clamping pressure does not feel secure enough so I had to re-tighten the tension with a wrench. Maybe it would work, but I am not interested in the router bit pulling down into the work and ruining the job in order to find out.

3-0 out of 5 stars Runs good - Looks bad!
When I first got my 1816EVS it came out of the box with a little discoloration on the motor housing. Cranking it up, the router ran and proformed so well I didn't let the appeance bother me since this is a working tool and I was sure using it a lot. I have had the router about a year and the discoloration just keeps get worse. It took me ten minutes to remove the motor from the base last week because of the oxidation of the magnesium housing. I can not believe no one else has reported this problem, but then again even Bosch will not reply to my inquiries. Could it be time to go back to PC?

5-0 out of 5 stars A good choice in all aspects of use.
I looked at several D-handled routers and finally decided on the Bosch because of the variable speed and power rating. I am using this tool in combination with the Bosch Deluxe edge guide to make trim and moulding for my home and woodworking projects. The router itself is very well designed and easy to handle, the soft start feature is a definite plus. The variable speed is also very helpful when routing different densities of wood, for example white pine or oak. The D-handle configuration was important to me because of the power switch location and the tactile control, especially using the router on a vertical surface. I am sure that I will eventually own a plunge router as well, but for my applications so far this seemed to be the best choice. The edge guide also is well designed but the size of it makes storage difficult when attached to the router, I actually hang mine from a hook in a rafter. With the guide attached and adjusted you can produce high quality mouldings at a fration of the price retial moulding costs. This is a benifit for me when I only need a few feet. This is the first Bosch tool I have owned and overall I am impressed with the quality of construction and design, this is definitely a professional level tool and will serve any hobbyist, homeowner, or contrator well. ... It took me about 8 hours to assemble this table properly. I needed that much time as I'm a perfectionist. :-) All said and done, after hassling with the table router insert to get it perfectly level, I ended up with a fine product. My hat's off to Bosch for again building a good product.
I mounted my Bosch 1617EVS router in the table and it all worked like a dream and was worth the time it took to assemble.
I would buy one again in a minute if I needed another one. PS: I would be willing to share my procedure on leveling the insert.

NICE PRODUCT! I would normally build a table or stand for a power tool. When I investigated building a router tables I found that a good top, fence and insert would cost as much as this table. So I bought this table and put it together in about 3 hours, I have a Dewalt 618 router both the fixed base and the plunge base mount directly into the original insert plate without drilling any extra holes. The accuracy, ease of use, and quality makes this a very good purchase. Bosch did a nice job with this one.

It took me about 8 hours to assemble this table properly. But it was worth the time. Some people could assemble it quicker but I'm a perfectionist. It takes a little work to get the router plate insert perfectly flat and I would be happy to share information. All said and done, I ended up with a great router table. It's well made and should last a long time. With
my Bosch 1617EVS mounted, it cuts like a dream. I really like this table and I would buy it again in a minute.

1-0 out of 5 stars Warning
This Deluxe kit comes with a good trimmer motor and accessories package but the trimmer guide that attaches to the accessorie plates is made out of plastic and is unusable to make a confident cut. Until Bosch creates a suitable metal guide system like they use to have on their old models and which you can find in competative models don't buy this kit.

What sets this sander apart from the ever-growing pack of random orbitals is Bosch’s new Microfilter dust filtration system, which the maker says will trap particles 60 times smaller than a human hair. Eight dust ports on the pad surface extract the material up into the filter, keeping it out of your lungs. The sander itself, a palm model, is relatively lightweight and comfortable in hand, thanks to the ergonomic soft grip, yet the 2.2 amp motor will power rotations from 7,000 to 12,000 RPM with a turn of the speed adjustment dial. The variable speeds offer you a range of applications, from serious stock removal all the way up to fine finishing. Bosch says it’s swirl free, but you’ll still want to use caution when starting up to avoid those swirl marks. It’s inexpensive enough for the home do-it-yourselfer or hobby woodworker to own one, yet we can easily see this in a professional shop with Bosch’s long life and superior quality.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... I like thise palm sander, however, the electrical cord has disintegrated over time (about 4 years). My Bosch router which has shared the tool cabinet with the palm sander has had no such problems. The cord on the router is still pliable and like new while the palm sander's cord has hardened and cracked apart every inch or so.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exceeds your expectations for dust free sanding and controls
I purchased this to replace my old 1295D unit. I thought it would be similar but I was wrong. Bosch apparently redesigned the whole insides. It vacuums more dust into the new pleated filter dust collector. The variable speed give you speeds lower and higher than the single speed. High speed allows you to really remove material in a hurry, and the low speeds with very fine paper allows you to buff finishes between coats. Don't scrimp on your palm sander. Pay the little extra the variable speed is worth ever... I am continually pleased with the value and quality I get with the Bosch products. ... Read more

These recips saws keep getting better and better. Here's one from Bosch that incorporates some really nice user-friendly features into a powerful, precise machine. We like the Direct Connect system rather than a dangling cord; you just plug a 12AWG cord right into the tool. Spring clips keep it secure, and you loop the cord through a slot in the handle and press it into a molded channel for added staying power. The foot design earns points from us: Just push a button and slide the foot mechanism into one of three detents, where it clicks soundly into place. (You'll know you extended too far if you actually see a notch.) The footplate itself is a great design, pivoting to keep its surface on your workpiece. Plunge cuts are simple enough, and Bosch suggests that for better control on plunge cuts, you insert the blade with the teeth up and use the tool upside down. It really does handle better this way. (Just remember to flip the blade over when you're done with this cut.) Changing the blade is an easy two-second, one-handed affair with this LockJaw system—the old blade ejects with just a twist of the locking collar. We found the built-in work light to be bright enough, and there's a handy blade storage device on the tool. The variable speed trigger is smooth and easy on the hand, and two gear settings give you a wide range of speeds for all kinds of materials, from low speeds for metal to 2,800 strokes per minute for softer materials like wallboard and wood. Bosch has always paid attention to ergonomics, and you feel that when you pick up this saw, from the soft grip on the comfortably curved handle to the nice arc design of the tool's body all the way through the rubber boot. We like the ratcheting chuck that allows for quick, reliable one-handed bit changes and the soft rubber grip Bosch includes on all its cordless tools. For people who want the most power they can get in a small drill, this 14.4-volt model may be the best bet. It has the most torque of all Bosch's Compact Tough drills and weighs only 4.4 pounds. 5-0 out of 5 stars snapped a 5/16 lag bolt, " BRUTE" is appropriate
This is the best cordless tool I've ever owned. I've always liked the Bosch line of tools. Between the 18 volt and the 14.4 volt I ended up buying the 14.4 volt brute, and I've certainly put it to work. It has plenty of power to drive any kind of screw you want. My brother was driving in a 5/16" X 2 1/2 lag bolt while working on my deck, we both heard a snap. My brother said, "sorry , but I think I just broke your drill. Come to find out the drill was fine and he had snapped the lag bolt cleanly off, talk about power. The battery pack lasts plenty long enough to allow your second battery to fully charge, so you have no down time. The drill is very ergonomic, and a real pleasure to use. I dont generally leave reviews, but i must make an exception in this case

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little drill
I traded in my Makita 14V because I was unhappy with it and still needed a second drill. This one outperforms my Craftsman 19.2. The feel is great. The heft is right. The power is unbelievable. I am extremely happy. Even the case is first rate. everything fits in its molded space. And it even has holders for the battery covers. They just went the extra step all the way around. Very happy.

What can I say? Bosch is the BEST!! You will love this tool, I promise. It's the most power you will every get from a small drill. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Very accurate tool
Just made a large fluted column with the guide, and it worked very well. The tool has a very large adjustable edge guide for stable contact with the wood edge. The micro-adjustment feature worked very well. Rods are lengthy, so cuts can be made a long distance from the wood edge. With the router attached, it is quite top heavy. I place a wood spacer under the rods when at rest, or else the router will tip over if placed upright. Save the box and use for a case, no case is supplied. Material used could be a little more solid, considering the fairly hefty price.

3-0 out of 5 stars Time will tell
At first glance the Bosch RA 1054 looks unwieldy, complicated and maybe even fragile with multiple poles, thumbsrews, springs and a large dial in the rear. But I must admit that after a thorough review of the owners manual and little pre-marking of my project the performace thus far has been pretty good. I used the guide to cut six mortises in solid maple 3x3 stock for a bed project I'm working on. To be honest, I completely skipped the use of the set-up dial by pre-marking all my mortises directly on the stock, then simply lining up the cuts based on the width of the router bit I was using. During use the guide is stable, with a large and stout edge that worked well with the stock I was routing. Smaller stock may present a different complication. The guide was cake to set up in both the plunge and fixed bases of the Bosch 1617pk I was using (which by the way works like a dream - if only I had gotten the variable speed model!). Downsides so far...no carrying case for the guide which I predict will lead to damage ultimately (remember all the poles, springs dials etc...protruding out) and despite the ample space in the case of the 1617pk router, the guide doesn't fit in there either. Additionally, the guide makes placing the router when not in use a real trick. Due to its size the guide tends to pull the router over if left inverted on the workbench, and tips it forward even if place bit side down. My solution so far is to rest the non-guide half of the entire setup on a piece of 1x stock which works pretty well. Time will tell how well the guide ultimately works with small stock, precise setup requiring the setup dials and the durability of the thing. But for now, it's all I was able to find to work with. Folks at Bosh need to take a look at the new Porter Cable guide. That things looks like a steel I beam, seems simple to use, has one-piece design and appears to be quite sturdy. If Bosch doesn't come to the table with one, maybe an aftermarket maker will. A router the quality of the 1617pk deserves to have accessories of the same quality and build. Overall this is an acceptable edge guide that could be sturdier, simpler and come with a carrying case. Good wood working everyone!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Guide
Does what it's supposed to. Good fit and finish. Micrometer adjust is worth its weight in gold.

4-0 out of 5 stars accurate and easy to use
The unit attaches easily and the micro adjust ( the same as on their 1617EVS router) allow you to get extremely accurate adjustments. It lives up to the High quality of all the other Bosch products I've owned.

1-0 out of 5 stars piece of *&#%
This edge guide seemed like it could be a good guide, but I never got to use it. I was measuring the distance from bit to fence to double check my work, and the router tipped over. Well, the piece of *&#% snapped in half. This tool is not for the clumsy, and is not built to last. Maybe I need to be a little more careful, but lets be realistic here. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great...Just Great!
Bought this drill a couple of months ago and like the AMEX card I would not leave home without it! I thought the world of my previous cordless drill (Milwaukee 12v) but the battery packs wear out after a few seasons of use and they are getting harder to find (as well as getting expensive). I've got one good pack left for the Milwaukee and am babying it, but I use the Bosch for nearly every drilling job I do now. I give it a solid recommendation to anyone that wants a workhorse 3/8" drill. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Bosch's Compact Tough cordless drills are designed to provide professional power in a compact profile and perform tough jobs in tight spaces and close quarters without compromising durability. Employing a flexible ABS nylon blend, this tool can stand up to the roughest job site conditions. This 12-volt model has a two-speed gearbox that delivers up to 280 inch-pounds of torque in high-torque mode and up to 1,200 rpm in high-speed mode. There's also a large two-sided fan for cool operation and motor durability and a 16-position clutch for matching the torque to your task. We like the ratcheting chuck that allows for quick, reliable one-handed bit changes and the soft rubber grip Bosch includes on all its cordless tools. This 12-volt model represents a great compromise between power and a lightweight slim profile--offering plenty of torque and speed--and weighs only 4 pounds. 4-0 out of 5 stars overpriced, but overall a reasonable drill
I recently bought this drill. i like it. power/torque is excellent. but for the price it should've been better-the battery juice should've last longer, the drill should've been quieter (it is very noisy.).

the other reviewer who said not to buy made-in china products is 10% right and 90% wrong. I looked at the bottom of all the components in this Bosch drill. The drill is made in Switzerland (He is right only here.), but the battery is made in Mexico, and the battery charger is made in China. i am not quite sure where all the parts inside the drill/battery/battery charger are made from, probably all over the world.

i don't think it's fair to blame China for the cheap products that are sold in the USA and around the world. These products are made with the specifications of the Buyers, that is, the USA, the European...etc. companies, who wanted to sell cheap stuffs to us in the first place. I've bought some British high end hi-fi components that are made in china, and i was very, very, very impressed with the quality of the equipment. if the executives at the US and European companies want high quality, they get high quality-no matter where it is made. if the execs want cheap merchandise so we must replace these cheap products every 3-5 years, so that these companies can measure purchasing cycle and maximize their profit line every 3-5 years, then we, the USA consumers, will then get cheap products that break down easily. but really who is to blame here, the USA and European's marketing/product/pricing strategies and schemes, or china? we all know what the answer is.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not made in China
This drill is the best 12V on the market. It is made in Switzerland, and it shows. Its quality is unmatched by any other brand in this price range. If your not going Milwaukee or better, avoid the temptation of buying that Dewalt, and go with the European.

Its got a comfortable grip, solid feel and construction, and is clearly made to handle anything.

Remember, good tools are made to last. Don't buy the Made in China __[insert brand]__ that will end up in the trash in 3 years. This drill will definitely make it for the long haul. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
After a few days of intermittent use, with an "electrical burning" smell the entire time, my unit stopped running. When I returned it to my dealer, he had replaced another unit with the same problem, using his last Bosch in stock. After reading that others are also having similar problems, I switched to Fein.

4-0 out of 5 stars great time saver
I have the earlier model of this sander and have saved tons of time with it. Sanding action is excellent, but it tends to run a little hot with prolonged use. Maybe the newer model has been improved in this regard. In addition, it's hard to find sandpaper that fits.

4-0 out of 5 stars Replacement pads
If you can't find them here, you can order replacement pads from International Tool Corp. at internationaltool.com.. They carry all grits and sizes.

2-0 out of 5 stars Designed well but problems with electrical
I love the Bosch line of tools, I need a very dependable detail sander and I am still hoping that Bosch will be the sander, I have bought three detail sanders from Bosch, two of which have failed after just a few hours of which each I smell electrical odor before they fail, I will take this last one back and get another one shipped, but there is deffinately a flaw with the electrical, probably the brushes, I was hoping others may have had the same problem??? Again I love the design but there is an electrical problem where they simply stop and just after a few hours of use, I believe in Bosch and will try again, Home Depot here we come!

I have a email request in to Bosch about this. Lets see how soon if ever they reply. With so many other similar sanders at HD or Lowes I would not recommend buying the bosch 1294sk. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very nice saw
I first used this saw as a rental from a local rental yard and if it can stand up to rental usage, it can take anything. I think this is what sold me on this particular saw when I went shopping. Having never owned a Bosch tool (plenty of Hitachi, Milwaukee and Makita) before, I was hesitant, however, I was pleasantly surprised by the features: all ball and needle bearing construction with metal gears and a sealed motor with overload protection. It has the largest blade guard of all the saws I looked at and the quick release clamp makes setup a little faster. It is well made and is constructed of metal except for the handle grip. If its heft is a sign of its quality, it's a good saw! At 42 pounds, she's a handful to lug around.

This saw has seen some pretty extensive use and it handles all jobs with relative ease. I've used it on angle iron, round tube, square stock and 2-inch induction hardened hydraulic cylinder shaft; hard stuff!

I've used many different brands of chop saws and in all honesty, there are only minor differences between the top models. A chop saws ability to cut efficiently is VERY dependant on the blade. Most new users simply use the blade the manufacturer supplied and consider the saw flawed if it doesn't meet their expectations. My advice, try different blades and don't go cheap! Not only will a good blade cut faster, it will last longer and will be easier on the saw's motor. The above reviewer mentioned that his blade "walked" and cut into the saw's base; not the saw's fault, the blade flexed under pressure. A good reinforced blade will not do this.

All in all, I'm pleased with its performance. To sweeten the deal, my dealer threw in a 5-inch Bosch angle grinder (1711A) free. Now I guess I own two Bosch tools.

4-0 out of 5 stars Bosch Abrasive Chop saw experience
I just used my Bosch 3814 14" abrasive blade chop saw to cut some 1/4" by 2" steel, on edge, at 45 degrees. I had some problems with the blade walking enough that it cut a slot in the base. A replacement base is quite pricey. This blade walking issue is probably an issue with all abrasive saws with 14" blades. I'll be more watchful next time I try to cut someting this heavy this fast.

Then I tried a masonary blade on a bullet nosed edger. That worked good. Then I tried it on a 6" by 6" by 2 3/4" concrete paver and it cut so slow I gave up on it and went to buy a 7" diamond blade for the Skill saw. I cut about 50 pavers with that blade.

I also have a Bosch 4" grinder and a Bosch Hammer Drill (with the piston inside) and really like both tools. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

If Bosch has their way, a day will soon come when a full-featured powerful cordless option will be available for any tool a worker needs. This planer is one such example. It's a full-sized and feature-packed cordless version of Bosch's popular corded planer. It offers a 3-1/4-inch planing width and is depth adjustable to 1/16 of an inch. The 18-volt motor spins the blades at 13,000 rpm. The planer uses a ratcheting depth knob for quick and simple adjustments, and in a system unique to Bosch planers, chip ejection can go to the left or the right as needed. It has an electronically balanced single-blade design to reduce drag for a longer run time and smooth finish. While this planer does offer plenty of power, cut capacity, and a full feature set, the battery makes it a bit heavier than its corded cousin (which can actually add to the tool's stability in use) and the handle position is more forward and on top of the tool to accommodate the battery at the back. This model comes with one battery, a one-hour charger, a chip and dust collection bag, and a carrying bag. --Brian Trinen ... Read more
