Amazon.com Review

Bosch's Compact Tough cordless drills are designed to provide professional power in a compact profile and perform tough jobs in tight spaces and close quarters without compromising durability. Employing a flexible ABS nylon blend, this tool can stand up to the roughest job site conditions. This 9.6-volt model has a two-speed gearbox that delivers up to 250 inch-pounds of torque in high-torque mode and up to 1,000 rpm in high-speed mode. There's also a large two-sided fan for cool operation and motor durability and a 16-position clutch for matching the torque to your task. We like the ratcheting chuck that allows for quick, reliable one-handed bit changes and the soft rubber grip Bosch includes on all its cordless tools. If lightweight maneuverability is the goal, this 9.6-volt model may be your best bet. It has the smallest profile of any of the Compact Tough drills and weighs only 3.3 pounds. This model includes the drill, two 1.4 amp hr batteries, a one-hour charger, a bit holder, and a carrying case. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars nice balance, compact, and great power for a 9.6v cordless
i research (almost) everything i buy and i compared this drill/driver with makita, dewalt, and black & decker. i felt that the bosch 32609 was the clear winner. it feels great in your hands and has outstanding balance. it is light (less than 3-1/2 lbs) and the smallest of the compact line of drill drivers from bosch. that's pretty impressive considering this has the highest torque rating (300 in./lbs) of any 9.6v cordelss drill/driver out there today. the 16-position clutch ensures that you can choose the correct torque level to your job while the keyless chuck makes replacing bits or drivers quick and easy. this package includes two batteries and a 1hour charger. for my use, i think this battery/charger setup will be more than sufficient.

all in all, i am very please with this tool that i'm actually looking for projects around the house!

i hope this helps you with your buying decision. peace.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Size , weight and power ats my favorite!
I have several cordless drills of different voltages and brands, Panasonic, Porter cable, and Bosch. This great drill is light and yet powerful. It is great for hardware installation, cabinet assembly and general work. It is much handier than 1n 18 volt monster that still doesn't have the torque or speed of a corded drill. This is the one to get. The new technology suggestes the batteries should last much longer and this one comes with a 3 year warranty! Wow! ... Read more

Bosch took a great palm sander and made it better with a clever innovation that gets your sandpaper on the deck fast and securely. They call it the SheetLoc Sandpaper Attachment System. It's a simple configuration that makes loading sandpaper quicker and easier. Just open the front and rear clamps, insert the edge of the paper in the front and wrap it around to the back as usual. But when you close the rear clamp, it pulls the sandpaper taut and flat against the sanding bed. It's about time somebody figured this one out. The integrated dust collection system is nice, though of course you'll get more extraction when you hook the sander up to your standard dust collector or a wet/dry. On its own, it pulls in a good amount of sanding dust, and it's as snap to empty the canister. It uses regular sandpaper sheets, but you'll have to pop on the neat hole-puncher that's including you're your paper is seated; that lets the dust collector do its work. We like the feel of it and how hungry it is when it's wearing 60-grit. By the time you get up to 220, you'll have a gorgeous, smooth finish. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great but no attachments!
This is one fine tool, but what are those people at Bosch thinking. For the amount you pay, they could at least throw in a few attachments. I bought this because I wanted the versatility of Temperature control. It would be even more versatile with the attachments which seem to be hard to find.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Heat Gun
Gun works very well. It would be better if you could get the accessories as the different applications require different heat. I have not been able to locate any of access. the Spreader(HG010), Deflector (HG020), Reflector(HG030) or the concentrator(HG040). IF you can, I think you will be satisfied.

5-0 out of 5 stars Controllable heat gun
The Bosch 1943 is a pleasure to use. Normally, the temperature of the output of heat guns is a guess resulting in over or underheating. This gun has LEDs that indicate the heat of the output. The gun reaches full temperature in approximately 60 seconds and cools in approximately 10 seconds. The air volume is appropriate for most tasks but the option of higher volume would be appreciated. The gun is very quiet and light.

I've used other Bosch, Milwaukie, Skill and Black & Decker guns. This one is clearly the best. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars very cool tool
my best friend for crown moulding, takes a little work for a math idiot like me to convert the angle degree's over to the corresponding miter saw settings (dewalt) but now I see some of the miter saws coming out with degree settings marked out, so it wouldn't evan take work if you own one of them.

The tool is flaweless and it has a multitude of uses, not only crown moulding, but base casing everything where angle has to be figured out.

I got the case seperately a worthwhile expense, I aslo use it to tune up my table saw and miter saw. My only wish is that they would come out with a smaller version.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is great for measuring short angles, not longer ones
At first when I ordered this, I thought it was for longer pieces of work. It is actually for shorter pieces. This is an add on for the Bosch Digital Protractor. What this extension allows you to do is extend it just a little bit, or as much as you need, not off the end of the leg, but rather BACK OVER THE ELBOW OF THE UNIT, to measure the angle of something that may be only 3 or 4 inches in length. By extending it the short distance, getting the angle, then deducting it from 180 degrees you can get an accurate measurement. The instructions that come with it, show you a picture of someone who is outside, holding the protractor against a wall, and extending the extension backwards across the knee to get the slope measurement of an outside window sill plate.
Anyhow, it is an infrequently used item for your Bosch Digital Protractor, but it does come in handy for the shorter pieces, and for the price it is a worthwhile addition. Hope this was helpful.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice one!
I have had this a week and have found it very useful, both as a short level and to check right-angles on someone else's framework. Allowed me to make precise adjustments so that a circular deck built in four quarters (badly!) ended up being bolted together nicely. A lot cheaper than a digital Stabila level for precise truss angles, for example, if you already own a nice level. One slight complaint - you have to open it up to see the horizontal bubble.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not a "MUST HAVE"
The angle finder itself is about 18" long on each leg which is more than adequate for most applications. Unless you really need the length I would pass on this item. Note: The angle finder only accepts one extension for one leg. ... Read more

Bought this saw for the added depth in order to lap 4x6 timbers. The saw refused to track straight, so I spent the whole time fighting to keep it on line. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Little Machine!
I've had this router for over a year now, mounted under a table. So far it has done everything I have asked of it and more. I'm only working with hard woods and it has never bogged down or frozen any bits. More than enough power. Its the best in its price range.

(Plus those maple handles just look so damn good!)

----EDIT----
FYI....
Just after writing this review the router just died. It was ten months old. I had to send it in to Bosch TWICE to get it to work again. Very disappointing.

5-0 out of 5 stars basic, lightweight, and powerful
I wanted a basic router with adequate power to do some simple remodeling jobs around the house and this model has been perfect. I do not need to make blind dados and therefore did not need a plunge unit. I do not use larger bits and therefore did not require variable speed. Quite frankly, this unit is probably more than a DIY amateur like myself requires. Although I am not familiar with them, the Skil and Craftman routers would probably serve my purposes and be far cheaper. The Bosch is really meant to be heavily used by professionals and serious woodworking hobbyists. But if you have the money, I recommend this model highly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bosch Router... Need more be said
This router is perfect. I was going to spend the extra for the 2HP version but I tested this one first. More than enough power. It comes with a 1/2" and 1/4" collet. Nice. and the handles feel great. I've cut rails and stiles and raised panels with it in a router table and it handled it like a champ. Bosch make the best fixed base router on the market, Hands Down.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Router, Great Service
I needed a fixed base router for my Leigh Jig and was originally going to purchase the P.C 690. After some inquiring on a woodworking bulliten board, I decided not to purchase the P.C. The 690 was called the "Screaming Dinosaur". It was an outdated design, very noisy, and underpowered. Someone even commented that it torqued it's way out of a router table. Ouch.

I picked up a refurbished Bosch 1617 at an auction and when it arrived it was damaged. Fortunately, Bosch was the seller and they rectified the situation by sending me a brand new non refurbished model. Great Service!

The more I use this router, the more I like it. It is very powerful, and the depth adjustment is very precise, very easy to use and just cant be beat. The machine is relatively quiet (for a router)and the quality of construction is top notch. This router is so precise and consistent, I do not need to make test cuts for the dovetail pins on my Leigh Jig. I know where to set the jig, and the dovetails come out perfect every time!

For general purpose use, I highly recommend spending the extra money on the variable speed model. When you run larger bits (which this machine can handle) you need a slower speed. Router speed controls cut you horsepower as well as your speed. The variable speed version of this router has electronic feedback which maintains you horsepower while reducing the speed.

4-0 out of 5 stars So Far So Good
I, like many, started 'routing' with a PC 690, but the price in the zshop for a referb Bosch 1617 was to compelling! I like the quick change giude gizmo, I'll really like it when I get the adaptor plate and can use the PC guides (Where does one find Bosch guides?) I am very used to yanking the motor out of the base on the PC to change bits and this Bosch machine is not so easily saparated from the base. But with what I've done thus far I find adequate power, and all else appears to be in order. I really like the big wood knobs. I'd buy another refurb machine in a heart beat! ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

This blade-left, 24-volt circular saw from Bosch offers as much power and cut capacity as you could ask for in a cordless circular saw.It can easily cut regular 1-1/2-inch-thick material at a full 50-degree bevel, and the bevel mechanism has a positive stop at 45 degrees. The saw features tool-free, rear-pivot depth-of-cut adjustments and tool-free bevel adjustments. The wrench for blade changes stores in a clip right on the base. The rear battery configuration on this saw allowed Bosch to give the tool good, even balance while maintaining a nice low profile. We like the padded grip on this saw, too--the same comfortable grip found on all of the company's 24-volt cordless tools--and at only 9.2 pounds, this saw is easy on the arm and hand. The full kit comes with the saw, one 2.4 amp/hr battery, a 1-hour charger, and a carrying bag.--Brian Trinen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Who needs a power cord?
After buying the Bosch 24 volt package, I am now finding dust collecting on my matching corded tools. I have found the reciprocating saw does run down the batteries quicker than the other tools, but I do like the tooless blade changing lever on the reciprocating saw and the jig saw. All the tools are top-notch performers. I love the easy height blade adjustment on the circular saw. It fell 25 feet off a roof and worked just fine after. (lucky for me, this saw is built). I did find out from Bosch that the batteries should be charged when the tool starts slowing down, and should never be run down to nothing, like the old nickle -cadmium batteries that developed a memory. Bosch makes a great product here!

3-0 out of 5 stars Bosch saw
This saw works well for small jobs, but you do have to be careful that you do not bind the saw blade. It is not nearly as powerful as a corded saw.

5-0 out of 5 stars this saw rocks
I have used every cordless saw avaible, and this one comes the closest to replacing it's corded counterpart. My wormdrive still looks new because I only get it out for BIG cutting jobs. I wish the thumb saftey was placed where it could be engaged without contorting my hand (like the Makita) but I bought it for power and precision, and Bosch delivers

5-0 out of 5 stars Throw Away Your Corded Circular Saw
I've had this saw for about 2 years now, and all I can say is WOW!!! I bought this and the drill in the combo pack because I thought the cordless feature would be nice. Little did I realize that I would rarely use my corded saw again. The run time is excellent. I figure you can cut about 100 feet or so of plywood on a single charge. The saw doesn't bog if your cutting thicker stock. I've cut stacks of 7/16" OSB 4 sheets high and the saw didn't bog once. In fact, I've cut into a concrete floor ( accidently ) with this saw and it didn't even stop, and the cut in the concrete was about 3/16" deep by 6" long. And with the blade on the left side makes it that much better. If you're looking at a good cordless saw that will take abuse and has plenty of juice, this is your saw.

2-0 out of 5 stars HEAVYWEIGHT HOMEMAKER MODEL
Anxiously awaited the arrival of this saw. Expected top quality from my experience with other Bosch tools I own. Somebody forgot to tell the designers that a heavy duty saw needs to have a heavy duty handle! The handle on this thing feels like a piece of flexible plastic that belongs on a toy rather than on a power tool! Unfortunately, Bosch says I need to return it if I'm unhappy with it, to Tool Crib. If I do this I need to pay a restocking fee plus the shipping from Hawaii. Live and learn I guess, never buy sight unseen! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars outfeed support
The outfeed support is a handy thing to have on a table saw. The only problem that I have encountered in useing it is that flexible materials like thin plywood tend to flex between the saw and the outfeed support and hit the support instead of going on top of it. This problem can be fixed by using a peice of scrap as a 'brige' to help the material make it onto the suport. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Bosch Does It Again
I was beginning to wish I had a second cordless drill. Having to change bits frequently is all the more work. With the Bosch Clic system, you just pop the bit in the holder, pull the head back, it clicks and holds your bit. To change, it is intuitive because as you pull the chuck forward it releases the bit as you pull the bit out, all in one motion. Just like putting the bit in, in one sweep. In goes the bit, and the chuck moves back to the click.
Bosch makes several clic change bit styles that work with the system, including self feeding spade bits.
The interesting thing is that the Ryobi bits fit it perfectly as well. I wound up stocking up at the local home center on other bits.
I was building a large outfeed table for the table saw out of red oak. Having to drill countersinks for the screws, and following with a phillips bit to set the screws, all the while clamping and unclamping the joint, made the clic change system the right tool. Saved all kinds of time, not to mention enlongating the battery life of the drill, not having to run it to change the bit fifty times.
The good thing is that the Bosch clic system works without a snag. No hang ups or binding, just smooth consistent changes. Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Bit Holder Made
The Bosch Clic-Change bit holder is the result of great design thought. It's small, bits change with a natural hand movement, and the heavy duty shaft doesn't slip. I only wish Bosch made the bit holder available without the hex-shank bits and extras. I'd love to buy several for all my drills and as gifts for friends. Clic-Change makes installing hinges a breeze.

5-0 out of 5 stars What would I do without them?
I purchased these just in time for an entire kitchen's worth of Ikea Cabinets to arrive. I used these EVERY DAY for a month while assembling the cabinets. They are really good and sharp and the quick change feature was invaluable as I was switching them constantly while drilling holes and then attaching 25 handles. I guess it's silly to say you LOVE a drill bit set so lets just say I'm EXTREMELY fond of them instead.

4-0 out of 5 stars accessorize
While the quick, one-handed change is nice, it's still a bit long to handle with a drill that has its weight in the back.
Also, I have yet to find any accessories to complement the set-up, such as a countersink. I hope Bosch keeps putting in their R&D time to give us what we need (and want).

5-0 out of 5 stars Best on the Market
I have used an Insty Bit for the last seven years and I wish Bosch had come out with this much sooner. The one hand operation is great and the assortment of bits has saved me from rumaging through my collection of bits for square drive and phillips screws. The drill bits come in handy as well. I would definitely recommend this to any wood worker. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Woodworkers who like the smooth, accurate performance of Bosch's jig saws will appreciate this new cordless model. It offers plenty of power for making curved cuts in a variety of materials, and doesn't skimp on usability features. At its heart is a powerful and smooth-running Bosch-built motor and a durable and lightweight magnesium gear housing. The saw has variable speed from 0 to 2,000 strokes per minute with a 1-inch stroke length, and a maximum capacity of 2-3/4 inches in wood and 5/16 inch in steel. The base bevels 45 degrees and comes with a foot cover to protect finished surfaces. The tool-free blade-changing system is as simple and quick as we've seen, and even ejects used blades with the pull of a lever. There's a soft rubber top-handle grip that can be used in a couple different positions, and the variable-speed trigger has an ambidextrous lock-on switch. With this tool's smooth performance and Bosch-built reliability, we think any one who finds curve cutting and cords a cumbersome combination will appreciate it. This 18-volt model comes with one 2.4 amp hr battery, a one-hour charger, a blade set, and a no-mar overshoe. People looking for more power might consider Bosch's 24-volt model. --Brian Trinen ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Finally retired the Bosch 1 578 1 Jigsaw
I've retired my 25 year old Bosch 1 578 1 jigsaw. This saw has given me excellent service for 25 years, it's only short comings are you need a special srewdriver to change the blade, it doesn't have a cut blower and you have to plug it in. The 52318 addresses all of these. It's a great saw goes anywhere and for me doing pickup work in unfinished house where sometimes the power isn't in that's important. The only thing I didn't like is the funny little wire guard right in front of the blade blocks my veiw of the cut, but a srewdriver popped it right out so everything is fine. Don't know if it will last 25 years but we'll see.

5-0 out of 5 stars first long run cordless
Out of all the cordless tools I own this one does the most on a battery. I own the bosch corded jig and have not used it once
since having this one.

The tool is made tough, the grip and balance is almost perfect.
The blade change system is phenominal. If you break a blade just pull the lever and the hot broken blade spits right out on its own!! The put a new blade in just push it in!!!

The 18v jig cuts anything with the right blade and really you can use it most of the day before the battery dies out.

I would NOT recomend replacing your circular saw with it the battery is not that, good but for jig saw work it is the best
and will impress the hardcore professional.

I must correct a previous reviewer however, the battery is not NMH(nickel metal hydride) it is NCAD, which is the standard battery used by all tool companies. He is growsly mistaken and readers should always double check reviewers statements I find
many mis- informations written by novice tool users on the Amazon tool rewiews.

What is cool is that when bosch puts out a battery upgrade it will work on this tool, I just dont know why you would need it.

Top of the line tool. Bosch is releasing a new corded Jig saw
that is just like this one and I will not evan consider it,
because once you have this you have no need for the cord!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Bosch--Best on the Market
This is a first class, quality tool, if I could give it more stars I would.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great tool!
This is an amazing tool! I have had this tool for about a month and it is the best jigsaw for the job. Cutting wood and other material is not a problem with this little dandy tool. I love that the battery lasts for a long time. It means that I don't have to worry about running out of juice half way through the job. This thing cuts through wood like it was a knife through butter. It also brings a piece so that you wont scratch the material you are working on. It also looks like it is solid piece of equipment that could handle tough usage. Overall, this is a great tool and I give it six stars. And it even came with a 3 year service plan.

5-0 out of 5 stars Now THIS is a jigsaw!
My Bosch 18v Jigsaw is my new best friend. Powerful, superbly ergonomic, wonderfully balanced, and just plain fun to use. How did I manage for 4 years with my old cord-enmeshed jigsaw; the one with the blades which were hard to install and remove, the one with the gasping motor and the flim-flam quality. This Bosch tool oozes quality. The battery charge is deep, and it runs long. If they use jigsaws for medical procedures, this is probably the one - straight out of the box. Stepless variable speeds, easily adjusted bevel base angles, and even a scratch-saver plastic base shoe. (And it comes with a sturdy carry bag every teenager will want to 'borrow' for gym gear.) The Bosch 52318 Cordless Jigsaw is first class. Ths booklet says it will handle 2.75 inch lumber. I believe it. 1 inch lumber is not a challenge at all. 3/4 ply is butter to this hot knife. 6 stars.
****This comment added after another month of use. Don't buy a table saw - this does everything. Just kidding. But I CAN report that after cutting all types of lumber and melamine sheets and metal, the Jigsaw is a SEVEN star machine. Buy one before Big Brother finds out how much fun you can have - you know what happens then. ;-) ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Planer has only one blade.
I wasn't sure how many stars to give this since I have never used it. I ordered it and when it arrived I discovered that it is a one-bladed model. Bosch calls this an "electronically counterbalanced single-blade design." From the other reviews this seems to work well, however, I wish that the listing would have indicated this. Hence this little blurb. The extra blade "set" is just another single blade in a bubble pack.
Again, I have NOT used this machine, but have sent it back in favor of a two-bladed design.

5-0 out of 5 stars For the money, you can't beat it...
I purchased this planer hoping it would last at least a few jobs, and was pleasantly surprised. Lightweight, powerful, comfortable to use, and a smooth depth setting takes the guesswork out of it, unlike the Makita's, which I've owned, hated, and returned. A newly converted Bosch enthusaist, I have nothing bad to say, well, except for the lack of a case. Picky, picky, I know

5-0 out of 5 stars Not perfect but great for the money
I compared this planer to my previous BOSCH 3272 which was comparable, but not as accessory laden as this model. The tools are similar in cutting specifications; however, the new model has a 5.0 amp motor, the handle is more comfortable, and has decent chip ejection to the right or left ( includes a 2 1/2" vacuum adapter )with a shop vacuum, and includes the new micrograin replaceable blades. The standard edge guide does not bevel, nor does this setup allow for rabbets out of the box. The edge guide works much better with a thin coating of "Slip It" non staining lubricant applied to its face, and it basically stays where it should. It works atleast as well as the Porter Cable model which I am also familiar with. In terms of performance, this unit works well. It is consistent ( with consistent hand pressure ), does a nice job, is lightweight and for the same money as the previous model, it is a great deal with the extras mentioned above. Probably the best of the lot in terms of product for the dollar; however, if you intend to use this unit 7 days a week for years in a row, I would recommend the more expenisve model, as well as the rabbet adapter and bevel guide. Nonetheless, for most DIY and semi-constant use, you can't beat this planer for the money in my opinion.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Power!
I am happy with its power and performance. It comes with an adjustable 90 degree edge guide. I wished I bought the model that has angle edge guide and the rabbeting depth. Now I have to buy optional edge guide and the rabbeting depth stop again. Other than that this is a great quality tool and it is made in Switzerland. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Powerful drill
I just recently purchased this drill and so far am very happy with the ease that it powers through everything I throw at it. Luckily, I haven't noticed any chuck wobble as described by another reviewer. The drill is very comfortable in the hand and the side handle provides a very nice grip. The depth stop is easily adjusted and holds it depth even with repetive drilling.

This is a bruiser of a drill and probably overkill for a DIYer like me. However, the ease of drilling through concrete block and pressure treated lumber provided by this drill is very nice.

2-0 out of 5 stars wobbling chuck
i purchased this drill in december. after using it for a week i noticed that the chuck wobbles slightly. i returned it for a replacement. it also wobbles. if you use a long bit in it the wobble is significant. once the bit drills into your workpiece, the wobble transfers from the bit to the drill and your hands. i've e-mailed bosch twice about the problem without ever getting a competent reply. i'll get the milwakee. ...
