Cooper vs radio shack
I have the above cooper iron and am very happy with it.But recentley I stumbled on radio shack's version of a cordless iron ,and I have to tell you I was very suprised by the quality and practicality of the shack cordless iron.I was never really to impresse by any of the shacks tools ,for the most part they were just poor quality imported hobby grade junk. But there little iron is quite handy.Very nicley constructed of high impact plastic with a sure grip rubber handle. The iron is of the pencil design very stubby ,which come in very handy in tight places. It comes with 2 tips .A solder tip and a blowtorch tip also included is a small metal stand.I think where the RS iron pulls ahead of the cooper is in the fact that the RS iron has an ajustable gas flow control.Couple this with the blow torch tip ,which is included in the set.And this stubby iron becomes one hell of a little workhorse.Allowing you to solder large battery cables to terminals with ease and other large automotve and truck electrical connectors. And oh yeah it only costs 20 bucks.Well that's about it.Like I said, I have both and if I was going to do it again I would only have the radio shack iron now.The ajustable gas flow control just gives the RS rig the edge.
Coopertools P1KC Butane Cordless Soldering Gun
I do auto and truck electrical and electronic repair, and this iron is fantastic. You will never have to deal with getting tangled in the irons cord again, another benfit of the unit being cordles is the precise controll and balance you can achieve.Great for getting into tight spots also.If you have to go to your customers as I do, and dont own a shop you will find this little iron to be a life saver. The iron is constructed well . I think they could have used a little more metal in the construction and a little less plastic but over all for what Cooper is giving you. cordless iron, tip assortment cleanig pad ,storage case.Cooper offers a fantastic tool package at a very reasonable price. The piezo ignition is a very nice feature , no matches plus not having to use butane cylinders is a great feature. So a $2.00 butane refill canister bought at any smoke shop will keep you going for months,A rather small but nice feature is the slight wieght savings you get from having a built in tank and not having to screw a cylinder in which adds up to less chance of leaks from seals wearing or threads becoming damaged with constant insertion and removal.Another nice feature of the Cooper cordless iron is the almost instant heat up of the tip no wait time.Plus cooper offers a nice assortment of optional tips.making the iron even more vesatile. For the price and the quality you can't go wrong.Do your self a favior and pick one up.You will not be sorry.
The Big Daddy
Don't buy another corded soldering iron, please, you will regret it one you try out one like this. This is a killer soldering iron and it is offered at an excellent price. Snap-On sells an identical iron for a considerablly higher price. This iron is very easy to fill with butane and heats up fairly quickly. This product is essential for working in cars especially outside of a garage. So quit tripping over cords an try this one out. You will love it.
