A drill/driver is a great tool, but not for every application, unless of course you consider stripped screws part of the charm of doing it yourself. Some jobs simply need the added muscle only an impact driver can provide, and the 14.4-volt cordless DeWalt DW054K-2 is one impact driver worth a look. At first glance, the DeWalt driver looks a little weak. After all, it measures only 6-1/2 inches and weighs just 4.1 pounds. But don't let appearances fool you. Under that slight exterior beats the heart of a champ. The driver produces an amazing 1,150 in./lbs. of maximum torque, making it ideal for even the toughest jobs and the tightest applications, where comparable drivers simply couldn't reach. The unit features an all-metal transmission, a durable magnesium gear case and an all-metal quick release chuck that accepts 1/4-inch hex shank bits. A textured, anti-slip comfort grip provides ultimate comfort and stability. A specially designed impacting mechanism reduces kickback -- and fatigue. And a variable-speed trigger switch with electric brake means better overall control.--Carl Thress ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars DeWalt's DW054 14.4v Impact Driver
I have used a few impact drivers in my day. Just recently I purchased the new 14.4v Impact for work. I am very impressed with it power and vesatility. I just hope I can stop myself from using it all the time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sudden Impact
This summer I decided to build three decks and install a three-rail fence around my property. These projects require a lot of fastening with 3 inch deck screws. I used my drill/driver for my first deck and my wrists were hurting from the torquing action. I received my impact driver and put it to use immediately. The Dewalt impact driver drives these screws quickly and effortlessly and I've tossed my drill/driver aside. I would highly recommend this tool to anyone using a drill to drive-in screws, lag bolts, etc.

5-0 out of 5 stars great new technology- what took them so long
i am a 53 year old carpenter-builder who has carried my 18 volt dewalt for several years on my toolbelt (heavy). The batteries are going, my shoulder is going, and i can't get into tight places. The Dewalt impact took care of all the above problems. I took a chance (because there were no real reviews) and bought it -and I love it - you will not believe how small it is!!! Here is some real data - the first day on the job site we were trying it out and we drove ONE (the same one) 3 inch galvanized screw (the kind that strip easy) in and out 6 times without stripping the head (we stopped testing with no sign of stripping but the screw was really hot )- the amazing thing is that the impact is just as helpful backing the screw out.
Hex ended drills are readily available and were tested in wood and 3/8 steel - no problem. (i have only found smaller -1/4'' -high speed bits readily available) The dewalt hex ended spade bit (3/4'') cruised through wood with much less effort than my 18 volt. My only question is how durable it is. Time will tell - but beyond that I am happy as hell with it.

5-0 out of 5 stars DeWalt Cordless Impact Driver
Okay DeWalt has created another must have tool. It is compact and has the torque for the big driving jobs that would require frequent battery changes or a finish up with a hand wrench. Now be ready and hang on as this will drive 99% or our needs for heavy torque jobs. See model DW055K-2 for the 1/2" driver output. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Belt Sander
I purchased this unit a while ago and didn't have the opportunity to use it right away. Then I checked out the reviews and became a little worried about my purchase.

First the dust bag. I am not sure why others have had problems with this system. I think that they must not be attaching the bag correctly. The bag attaches at 2 different points and is really rock solid. But you must attach it correctly or I can see that the bag would fall off. The dust collection was excellent. I sanded with 50 grit, 120 grit and had no issues whatsoever. What's nice about this dust collection system is that it's not in your face, so you can see what you are doing.

This is a heavy unit and the center of gravity is very low. I found it to be very stable and easy to handle. The variable speed worked as advertised and would maintain a constant speed as I applied pressure. I like the fact that the cord is mounted on top. It stays out of the way and did not have a tendency to get cought and cause me to gouge the wood. The belt is easily removed and replaced with the flip of a knob. I have no complaints.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I purchased this sander last fall at a woodworking show. Everytime I use it I end up finishing the job with my old beat-up Porter Cable. It's heavy and clumsy, has no belt speed, hard to use with a winter glove on, and the dust collection is non-existant.I have a woodworking business and can't afford wasting money on tools. Should've bought another Porter Cable.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not up to the DeWalt name
I did not get five minutes of run time from mine. The belt tracking adjustment fell off and would not allow for the belt adjustment of running 1/4" from the edge of the platten. Very un-impressed with this product!

1-0 out of 5 stars Dust Bag Worthless
Used this sander one time for about half an eight foot board and after replacing the dust bag sixteen times in this short distance, I decided this machine was not for me. I can't believe Dewalt would make a belt sander where the dust bag is knocked/falls off the sander so easily. That little plastic slide to hold the dust bag and almost zero clearance between the dust bag and the surface is very poor engineering. I have no real clue how the rest of the machine operates as I have no use for a belt sander where the dust bag won't stay on. Well, I suppose I could duck tape it on... yeah right!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars The Sander DW 433 with All Kinds of Problems.
I purchased DeWalt DW 433 in November 03. After it took a month to recieve. It broke after 3 hrs. of use. I took it to DeWalt Factory Service center, but the Facrory Service Center did not carry the parts ( 3 diffrent new parts are needed !). It has been a week since I droped my sander.I do not know what is wrong w/ my sander but I can tell you a problem I see. If you put a corse grid belt sandpaper (60,40,36 or reused belt sandpaper) it will rub against the body of DW 433 because it do not have a space between the front top roller and the sander body. I keep the most of belt papers for future use, But you can not do that with this DW 433. Because a belt will expand and it will rub against the body.( the space between body and top roller is less than 1/8" and you can not adjust it). It shoul be labeled B & D. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Whether at home, in the basement, or at a remodeling site, DeWalt's 5.8 amp jig saw makes cutouts the way they should be: quick and hassle-free. Vibration-dampening rubber grips soak up the shocks, making it easier to hold the line, and the counterbalance design places the weight squarely over the shoe. Need a fast cut? Flip the orbital adjustment switch to position four (maximum swing) and cruise through material at up to 3,100-inch-long strokes per minute. For more precise cuts in high-visibility areas, use the zero setting (orbitless motion) for a cleaner edge. Thanks to an adjustable blower on the right side, sawdust is whisked out of the line of sight, a feature we always appreciate in a jig saw. The shoe locks on this saw seem sturdier than the one on DeWalt's cordless model and the shoe easily adjusts--with a tool-free lever--to slide forward or backward for flush cutting, and also bevels 45 degrees to both sides. No wrenches are required to change blades, either: simply pull and turn the top, remove the old blade, and replace it with the desired universal or T-shank--a handy, timesaving design that is unique to DeWalt. --Justin Paul ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Bad quality control perhaps?
After looking at 5 different saws for a couple of hours, I settled on this one. It's use of standard and t-blades was the deciding factor. When I started sawing wood,I noticed that it cut to the right, so I had to face the saw about 25 degrees left to track straight. When I examined it, it looked like the the blade holder, or the entire shaft was crooked. The blade ran against the side of the guide bearing instead of being straight. The power-on locking mechanism did not work all the time, and it seemed chintzy. Also, the blade locking mechanism did not inspire confidence. Besides for these things, it was okay. I thought it felt good in my hand, and the power was good.I returned it and bought a Milwaukee 6266-21. I think I will stay away from Dewalt after this. Seems their QC is sleeping.

1-0 out of 5 stars What a disappointment!
I own several DeWalt tools and love them (circular saw, cordless drills), and so I figured this jigsaw would be similarly great. WRONG! The first unit was so bad (tracking and square) that I returned it thinking I must have purchased a lemon (after all - yellow...?). The second unit was identically bad. Blower didn't work, tracking was horrible, cuts were VERY out of square. My 20 year old B&D, "purchased" with green stamps, was far better. The only good thing about this saw is that it has lots of power.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy It At Lowes
I bought this saw at Lowes for $109 no shipping cost, 6% sales tax on June 9, 2004.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this one
Could not get the blade to track stright. The saws shaft is lose and will shift while using. I have many other DeWalt tools I have been very happy with, but this saw stinks. I sold mine at a loss and bought a Bosch ***** stars for the Bosch.

1-0 out of 5 stars Can't recommend this saw
I must own about 20 DeWALT tools and this is a frustrating tool. For the most part I really like DeWALT tools but this one needs to be redesigned. The blade will not track straight. The problem seems to be in the blade mounting system. I have never had a problem with the blade coming loose, however as you screw the cap to tighten the blade you can see the plunger start to turn as you crank down on this thing. Since you tighten to the right, the blade will end up pointed to the right. Now I have found that if you back off slightly you can line it up, but that's not the way a jig saw should work. I think that in this case you would be better served with a Bosch. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great on doors too!
This gem rocks for hinge and striker mortise template cuts on doors and jambs. The 5" round disk accepts standard router bushings. The size and weight are great for the job! Try it; you'll love the results!

2-0 out of 5 stars Comparison User
I have both this trimmer and the comparable Porter Cable 7301. The Porter Cable is the better designed and somoother running unit. For the price difference I'd get the PC model.

Not a bad machine just not as good as the PC model.

4-0 out of 5 stars De Walt Accessories
De Walt is the top of the line, but I have one complaint about their Laminate trimmer kit and it is that if you want or need a seaming base you have to buy it as an accessory. The facts are that it is nothing more than a duplication of a base already supplied with the kit with a small roller guide attached to the base and they both are exactly the same except for the small guide that will fit in either base.
In other words it should be supplied as part of the kit and not as some accessory, lets add some value to your fine name.

3-0 out of 5 stars Acceptable but not quite what I expected
That other reviewer sounds more like a Dewalt rep than someone who has used this tool. It is a well made tool. I'm not always happy with the way Dewalt designs tools. Some of the parts in this kit are rather kindof flimsy. For the most part it is acceptable for what I will be using it for. If I had it to do again I would buy Porter Cable.

5-0 out of 5 stars the best trim router money can buy
While Dewalt tools are known to be top notch, I can say without a doubt the trim router package is by far one of the best investments you can buy. It combines all of the versitility of a standard trim/finish router, while giving the addition of a seamer, an offset base and an angle base. therefore if you want the most bang for your bucks, you cannot go wrong with the Dewalt Dw673K 7/8 HP Trim Router Kit. It is amazing how easy and yet light weight the unit is. It has far surpassed all of my expectations. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Detailer
This is the original Black and Decker Buffmaster. I bought mine in 1992 and it still works great.

5-0 out of 5 stars foam & wool pads
To the person who has problems with , and refered to tie pads.
Any major paint wholesaler can sell you a kit that will replace
the pad with a velcro based plate to which you can place a foam
or wood pad with a touch and all work great.

5-0 out of 5 stars DW849 works for me !
I bought this polisher to compound and wax a boat and I was extremely pleased with the results. The variable speed dial with a maximum RPM of 3000 was definitely the ticket on the parts of the boat that were suffering from severe oxidation.

I found myself running at about 1800-2000 RPM's over most of the boat but having the extra power when needed was definitely a time saver.

The only drawback I could mention is that this tool is not friendly about accepting generic polishing and cutting pads produced by "other" manufacturers. The Dewalt mounting bolt for the flex backplate leaves few options other than to use DeWalt pads unless you want to use the drawstring type, and I have been unable to find any drawstring pads worth purchasing.

1-0 out of 5 stars Bad gearing, and more.
I have had my polisher less than one year.I have had the spindle replaced twice do to abnormal gear sounds, and viberations. And just today the electronic module well R.I.P. I will say this at first i loved it and now i hate it.By Andy.K A long tine detailer.

5-0 out of 5 stars DeWalt Polisher
This is the best polisher/buffer i have ever used. I own a detailing company and this is the only high speed buffer we use. Very well built. We have one that is over 4 years old, and still works like it is brand new. The variable speeds make this buffer great for beginning polishers and expert detailers. A must buy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best tool in 2 decades!
Being a door installer, I ordered this tool as soon as it came out. Awesome! Drives hinge screws in with no problem. Drills up to 1/4" bits without impacting. Where was this tool 5 years ago? My 18v drills are semi-retired, who needs a corded drill now. An earlier reviewer said he had problems finding hex drill bits. Most home improvement stores carry them in sets and you can sharpen them accurately with a Drill Doctor sharpening system when they dull. But as always we want more speed, can't get enough. I'm sure that with 2 brands out now that are faster, Dewalt will step up to the plate and deliver the knockout punch, til the next round at least. You can't go wrong with this one. Get one today.....

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing !
Being a DeWalt tool owner I decided (for charging reasons) to stick with them. This tool is awsome!I tried driving a screw right through a 2x4 didn't slow it down !Any one doing electrical work with greenlee knockout punches(slug busters)get the 1/2 socket adapter for the inpact driver put a 1" socket on it and make some holes on electrical boxes !It goes so fast I don't dread using the slugbusters anymore. It is getting so I rarely use my 18v drill except to drill, not to drive screws anymore !

5-0 out of 5 stars One wasn't enough!!
In my company we do alot of weatherstripping installs and we remove AC vents and replace them after working on the ducting. I am obsessed with tools if it is out there I have to have it. Usually I will have it within a week of its release, most of my tools are Dewalt, but honestly they do not make all tools up to par. In this case I do not have a problem with buying a different brand to get the best for the job. This being said I bought the first impact that hit the home improvement store in my area charged it up on the way to the jobsite so I could try it out. I was impressed right away so I let others on my crew use it to see what they thought roughly twenty people had tried it by the end of the day on the charge of the two batteries. On seeing these results I decided that this was the tool of choice for our business and went to buy a few more. Upon arriving at the home center they were out so I had to order them. After talking to the crew several said they would like to have an impact themselves. So I went and ordered twelve more impacts and none of the crew have been disappointed with the tool. A month went by are our crew had increased in size as did the amount of work and so I went and ordered fourteen more impacts.

5-0 out of 5 stars Almost a complete drill replacement
As a proffesional contractor who relies on my tools to feed my family I have to say this tool is a winner. I was introduced to it by a finish carpenter who had been using one he got as a gift. It has almost replaced my regular heavy 18v drill. the hex bits work great, but beware of breaking them easily. Also the hex drill bits can not be resharpened easily. Between this tool and the Dewalt 7.2v screwdriver, I have gone from using my big 18v drill daily to less than weekly. I love this tool for setting and removing tapcon screws in concrete!!! nothing is better!! I also discovered that by placing a soft brass rotarly brush in it, it is a wonderful tool to cleen off wood, concrete, and sidding. I used to have my assistant clean the concrete splatters off of sidding until I discovered this. Now instead of taking the better part of a hour to clean a porch, it is done in less than 10 minutes and usually less than 5. Time is money and this tool saves time in a big way. The only major downside is the cost of hex accesories and the quality of them. You will definitely get what you pay for in them, so don't scrimp and buy the cheapies. Especially screwdriver bits, they break too easy and you'll just end up going through them faster. I highly recomend using square drive screws with this tool.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awsome!!!
I have just received mine and it's better than I expected. I initially wanted to buy a Makita, but after countless hours of research, and comparing both specifications, the Dewalt has the Makita beat. More power, faster, lighter, smaller, and in my opinion, much better looking. Also cheaper. ...This is by far my favorite tool. I just wish that I could find drill bits that have 1/4 in. shank. ... Amazon.com Review

This DeWalt circular saw is a rugged tool designed with professional carpenters' needs in mind. It has a 15 amp motor that produces a whopping 2,075 watts, which is equivalent to 2-3/4 horsepower. In less scientific terms those numbers mean this saw can slice through lumber like a tornado through a trailer park. If that's a little too fast for you, it also comes with an electric brake for quick stops. The generous 5-1/2-inch base pivots for depth of cut and bevels on a ball-joint mechanism that offers smoother, faster adjustments than the simple hinge arrangement typically found on other saws. It has a bevel capacity of 0 to 50 degrees, and--like the depth-of-cut gauge--the bevel gauge can be easily recalibrated if the saw takes a tumble on the job. Depth-of-cut adjustments are made by unscrewing the front handle a bit, adjusting to the desired depth, and screwing it back down tight. This operation is so smooth it can be done without even changing your grip on the saw, reducing downtime between cuts. The saw's construction is solid throughout and it should live a long life, even on the toughest job sites. Blade changes are quick, thanks in part to the easy-to-reach shaft lock button; however, onboard storage of the blade-changing wrench would be an improvement. This is a great tool for serious professionals in need of serious cutting power. At 12.3 pounds, it isn't the lightest model available, but big power doesn't come in small packages, and 7-1/4-inch sidewinder circular saws don't get any burlier than this. --Brian Trinen ... 5-0 out of 5 stars What can I say Great saw !
If your in the market for a high end circular saw this is the last saw you need to look at. I tried 4 other saws bought this one. Best adjustments great power. It took about 10 mins to true and square after that I was off and cutting. I like the weight of this saw it helps keep a clean line when you push a solid tool like this one through your work, light dosen't cut it for me. I like the front height adjustment you don't have to tilt the handle for control it's already to cut when you set blade depth. The case has plenty of storage space for blades. the base plate is solid and glides freely over cutting surface, clear line of sight. What else can I say besides "great tool" this tool will make the jobs you do easier, safer, shorter, and more professional.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great saw, but get a good blade!
Well, I have yet to buy a DeWalt tool that I haven't been happy with, and this saw is no exception. This saw makes consistent cuts and has a ton of great features. I would make two suggestions when buying it that some people may overlook:
First, I would buy a quality blade for use with your intended projects rather than the one included (it cuts, but as with most blades included with saws, probably isn't going to satisfy your needs)
Second, I would strongly suggest picking up the optional rip fence (DW3278). You can usually find it up for around $10.00, and it makes long straight cuts infinitely easier. Definitely a good investment!
Nevertheless, I am extremely happy with this saw. THe only reason it got 4 stars instead of 5 was because of the included accessories (and lack of an included rip fence).

5-0 out of 5 stars Now this is a power tool!
After my hand-me-down black and decker (made a few decades ago, when black and decker wouldn't get snickers) finally bit the dust, I needed to get a new circular saw. I picked this one up at the blue home store, and have been very pleased. I've heard many good things about the grey, blue, and red ones, but this one is a beast. Feels good and sturdy too. One word of caution, this model DeWalt is pretty heavy compared to others. If you're doing a lot of work it will wear you out, but thats also why it can saw through things like butter... Power.

5-0 out of 5 stars WORKHORSE
BOUGHT THIS SAW PROBALLY 12 YEARS AGO STILL PERFORMS LIKE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT. IT'S SEEN SOME HARD USE AND SOME HARD FALLS. TAKES A LICKIN, JUST LIKE A TIMEX. THIS SAW IS ONLY 13 AMPS THE NEWER ONES ARE 15 SO YOU JUST CANT GO WRONG WITH THE DW364.

5-0 out of 5 stars Solid as a Rock
I bought this saw after returning the DW368K. I thought the base plate on the 368K was too flexible, allowing the blade bevel. The 364 is solid, the base plate stays right where you want it. The depth gague is very handy. Mine wanted to stick a little at first, but a few squirts of powdered graphite, and the adjustment works smoothly. The saw has plenty of power. When ripping green treated 2x's, the saw didn't bog down. Also, I like the looks of the solid aluminum base plate. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars no need for cords, unless you want them
I have the entire 24V kit, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I like the AC/DC converter feature, so that when the uncommon dead battery situation happens, you're not left without power. DeWalt: How about a 24V jig saw, plate jointer, miter saw and handheld planer? I'll buy them whenever they come out.

The only downfall is this drill is a bit heavy for everyday use. I have a 12V DeWalt for lighter needs, but I wouldn't trade this drill for anything.

3-0 out of 5 stars HEAVY-duty but No Clutch
This is not your "everyday" drill. It is heavy and doesn't have a clutch. But, when you need the kind of power that exceeds most corded drills, this is it. Hammerdrills through concrete like butter. The carbide-jawed chuck is a dream. My old 1/2" drill spun large bits all the time. Luckily, DeWalt is starting to use this chuck on its 18V and 14.4V hammerdrills, too. This newer version has two batteries which is good because the batteries don't last any longer than your average NiCd. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Power Power Power
I had several saws before , but this time I decided to spend the bucks and buy a good one that would be worth fixing if the bearing went out.
Well this is everything I thought it would be and more, The only draw back is that this baby has some weight to it, My wife helps out alot and she complained the firest time she picked it up so if your not a strong arm person , this is not the saw for you.
keep in mind the 8 1/4 blades are not cheap when they can be found , but you can use the 7 1/4 if the size is not in demand.

5-0 out of 5 stars DeWalt 8-1/4 Power Saw
Simply put, this saw has a lot of power and is great for framing and ripping 2x4's. I used this saw to rip 3x10's and it handled the job with ease. I would have to recommend this saw over the 7-1/4 types. If you only can afford one saw, this is the one to buy. 7-1/4 inch type saws are lighter and easier to handle all day long, but they won't cut like this one. I own both types of saws and I usually go for the 8-1/4. They really should make a case for this thing. Mine didn't come with a case. I have to pull the blade guard back in order to store it in the 7-1/4 saw case. The 7-1/4 saw now sleeps on the floor.

5-0 out of 5 stars exceeding my expectations
I am actively involved in timber framing for myself, and have been looking for the right mid-sized circular saw for a while. I came dangerously close to ordering the Milwaukee 10-1/4" until I read a very helpful review on this site about the paper thin foot that easily bent. I already own a 16-5/16" Makita, and it is a beast, with a maximum 6-1/2" depth of cut at 90 degrees. I needed a saw that could cut 3" deep---this saw is advertized at 2-15/16", and it does every drop of that! The foot is extruded aluminum, about 1/8" thick, very stout. This saw feels no different than a normal 7-1/4" to me. The depth adjustment knob is fantastic, and the angle adjustment is a breeze. Be sure and check it when you first get your saw though. Mine was off almost two degrees. This saw will rip 3" thick SYP with the blade that comes with the saw! It is as strong as you would ever need it to be!...

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple
The 384 is the exact replica of the old B&D/ sawcat, one of the best.I would like to se it offered w/carry case & rip-guide.An absolute must for the framer.

2-0 out of 5 stars DW384
I used this babe for over two years, and have been the best saw than I own. Very well build tool have also the safety feature of an electric brake than stop it in less than two seconds when you release the switch. Very easy to adjust the zero point (kerf indicator) and parallelism between the blade and the shoe. Surprising for me was the oustanding balance and plenty of power for the hardest of the tropical woods (Use carbide tiped blade...please) Also have a cord keeper for place the cable away in some chores. The only drawback than I see, is no metric conversion kits available for the people like me than not use inches! ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

DeWalt's 5-inch random-orbit sander is a great tool for professional woodworkers and painters, as well as homeowners looking for a reliable sander for do-it-yourself projects. It has a 2 amp motor that provides 12,000 orbits per minute, with a 3/32 orbit diameter. Its controlled finishing system maintains consistent control over the pad speed, minimizing gouging at startup. We found that the sander removes material quickly and leaves a good finish. While it has less vibration than many sanders we've tried--thanks in part to DeWalt's dual-plane counterbalanced fan--we found that gripping the tool from the side rather than from the top seemed easier on the hands, and thought the top grip could get tiresome in extended-use situations. We liked the dust canister configuration on this tool, which uses a simple and effective twist-lock mechanism to prevent air pressure from popping the canister off the tool. The sealed switch prevents problems from dust contamination. The kit comes with the sander, a dust collector, a vacuum attachment, and a case. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A little rough around the edges
This sander really does work fine, it does the job it is designed to do. I do have a couple of complaints though. Firstly the dust bag is basically useless. Mine has broken twice and when it is in place it is largely ineffective. ( Actually though, I fail to see how a ssnder's dust bag can work without a vacuum, but anyway) and the other gripe is the power switch. Mine is in a dust protective booted cover, that I usually fail to properly toggle, so when I start to sand, it will turn off - or the worse case it turns back on when I am setting it down. I can say however, that this unit has held up through the years that I have owned it, dropped it, loaned it . . . So I have no question as to its durability. I cannot base it on any comparisons with other RO sanders, but I can say I have got my moneys worth over and over.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lil' Yellow Bugger
What won't this little machine do? How about cook breakfast. As far as sanding I've done it all from finishing drywall, smoothing out old plaster walls, brought an old rusty flea market file cabinet back to life & even shined up the family grocery getter with a wool bonnet! Nice sealed switch, handy case & super convenient vacuum hook-up hiding in the dust bag. Buy it! If you have problems with this sander your probably not ready for power tools yet , get a rubber sanding block!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very happy with this sander
I own the PSA variant of this sander and got this one for free. The result: my PSA sander is now collecting dust instead of generating it. This is a great sander from rough to finish work, and hook and loop has saved me a lot of time when I have had to change out paper on a regular basis, and the edges of the paper seem to hold up better than that on the self adheasive. Not only that, I have had a hard time finding 8 hole 5" PSA paper at the local hardware stores. My only complaint is that the dust bag doesn't collect much dust before a small cloud begins to form around the sander. I am now looking at going down to the local Dewalt repair shop and see if I can get the hook and loop base for my DW420.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great sander for the money
Another great tool from Dewalt. Bought this tool 2 weeks ago and put it to the test immediately. I sanded over 20 cabinet doors, some sheetrock, and rusting metal in that time and everything came out flawless. The hook and loop style is great for quick changing of pads. The dust bag works poorly as with any other woodworking tool(as should be expected) and should be hooked up to a vacuum system. I like this model cause parts are meant to be replaced, which means this tool should last for a long time with some minor maintenance. It only has one speed but unless you are utterly devoted to sanding it should be all you need. The only thing I could see swirl marks was on the metal but not many people are going to use this to sand metal so it shouldn't matter. After the abuse this sander took in it's first 2 weeks with the results I achieved I know what brand of sanders I will get from now on.

1-0 out of 5 stars palm sanders
my psa dewalt palm sanders have about 2000 hours on it and i love them ! My new hook and loop palm sander has about 100 hours and i am ready to throw away the hook and loop pad . Hook and loop costs about twice as much but lasts half as long as psa. Psa cuts a lot faster and costs a lot less. ... Read more

We weren't expecting a lot of power when we picked up this drill for the first time: It's terrifically light and compact. Boy, were we wrong—-this drill's got all the power and torque of the heavyweights. With a speed range of 440 to 1,400 rpm and 17 clutch settings, it also delivers 400 inch/pounds of torque. It handles a hole saw and Forstners beautifully with power to spare, and the balance in hand is perfect. But what sets this drill apart is its size and weight and how that translates to easier work for you. We've used some big-boy drills and imagined what a carpenter would feel like after eight hours of hoisting them; we have to say that this drill is the one we'd want on the job, whether it's electrical work, cabinetry, heating and cooling or woodworking, slipping easily into the tightest workspaces and really cutting down on fatigue. Another dimension is how easily it handles for women with smaller hands, because in addition to its size and weight, the drill's rubber grip is compact and comfortable. Auto tune-ups should keep this machine working for you for a long, long time.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more
