It's light, it's ruggedly built, it's comfortable, and it fires faster than lightning, with a speed rating of 20 fasteners per second. Pop your air hose on it and be impressed. It's an incredibly light 4.5 pounds, but it works as hard as you do. We like the extra details that mean a long tool life and the ability to survive the jobsite, like a rugged yet lightweight magazine, a carbide nose insert, quality aluminum housing and a long-wearing textured grip. And we like that all its adjustments are tool-free: jam clearing, exhaust direction and the repeatable, lockable indexed depth adjustment, placed at the trigger rather than the nose. Best of all, it draws just .039 standard cubic feet per minute, and that means a lot less time lost on the job waiting for the compressor. The magazine loads 160 staples, a reload is fast and easy. It's probably one of the most comfortable guns we've come across, too. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

Features

  • Includes stapler, safety glasses, (2) Allen wrenches, and sequential trigger
  • Lightweight tool provides enhanced maneuverability and aids in minimizing user fatigue
  • Cycle rate of 20 fasteners/second (@ 100 psi) provides a speed rating that works as fast as you do
  • Low air consumption rating consumes less air per shot, allowing the tool to cycle faster and more consistently
  • Tool-free jam clear eliminates down-time from bent fasteners caught in the nose piece

Amazon.com Review

DeWalt designed this replacement for their popular DW359 circular saw to be the lightest and most powerful saw available. The result is a professional-quality tool that weighs 9.8 pounds and uses a big 15 amp motor to deliver a maximum of 2,200 watts--just about 3 horsepower. That's a technical way of saying this saw can deliver the power necessary to take on the toughest work on any construction site. The saw's magnesium base plate and guard are part of the key to the low weight. It has a slimmed-down handle, which we found more comfortable than the one on the old model, and a slimmed-down body, which allows for better cut-line visibility. When redesigning the saw, DeWalt also swapped the previous model's 15 amp switch with a 22 amp switch to make burn out at start up less likely. We really like the big 56-degree maximum bevel capacity, and the bevel detents at 22-1/2 and 45 degrees. Both bevel and depth-of-cut adjustments are quick and easy tool-free operations. Designed with professionals' needs in mind this is a powerful full-featured saw that is likely to stand up to a long life of tough work. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

Features

  • Functional lower blade guard reduces guard hang-up
  • Lightweight contractor-grade saw, 9.8 pounds
  • Innovative composite shoe withstands an 8-foot drop
  • 56-degree beveling capacity with stops at 22.5- and 45-degrees
  • Clear blade line-of-sight from any user view

1-0 out of 5 stars unpleasant surprise
Do not buy this saw unless you have actually held one of them in your hands, and realize what you are buying!!! The Amazon website for the DeWalt DW369CSK is deceptive, although I am sure this was unintentional. None of the pictures show the rear left corner of the saw's composite baseplate. The rear left corner of the baseplate DOES NOT EXIST! The baseplate is not a rectangle, as one would expect. Rather it is a rectangle with a large part of one corner "missing". Because of this, the left side of the saw's baseplate is only 8 1/2 inches long. This, together with the placement of the main handle (grip) of the saw, make it more difficult to make a straight cut by running the saw's base along a fence. I called the DeWalt technical assistance hotline and asked why the base had been designed like that. The man was very nice, but he said that he didn't know, but it may have been to save weight. By the way, the DeWalt website has pictures of the saw, but none show it from an angle that lets you see the "missing" portion of the base.
If you do framing, this saw might be OK. However, if you use a circular saw to make furniture, and you use it to do precise cuts of large sheets of plywood by running the saw along a fence, then you want a saw with a base which is long, especially on the side which rides along the fence. I have since learned (by actually looking at the real saws, not pictures) that there are still plenty of these available. The DeWalt DW364 is one of them. It is an older style, which is a bit heavier than the newer 369CSK, and it does not have a detent at 45 degrees. But it is completely adjustable for squareness, and it has plenty of power, and it has a BIG FOOT. The Porter Cable saws have large rectangular bases. Some other saws have a small triangle missing from the left rear corner of the base, but no other saw that I have seen has nearly as big a cutout as the DW369CSK. The Milwaukee 2390-21 is one of them, but even with the cutout, the remaining straight portion is longer than the entire base of the of the DeWalt DW 369CSK, and you can easily keep it square as you move it along a fence. While all of the alternatives to the DW369CSK that I have listed are heavier than it is, they are easy to hold and are well balanced. I recommend that you choose one of them.
I had searched the web and read reviews of circular saws before buying (and later returning) the DeWalt 369CSK, and the reviews showed that it was light, had detents for two angles of cut, had a composite base, and cut at a good rate if given a good blade. No mention was made of the strange shape of its base.
While at Home Depot last night, I asked another shopper, who happened to be a professional carpenter about the DW369CSK. He said that he had bought one but he returned it as defective because the motor burned out quickly. He said that he got one of the Porter Cables and it works fine.
I recommend that Amazon add a picture of the DW369CSK which shows the base so a potential customer can make a more informed decision. I have made a number of purchases through Amazon and am very happy with them. This is the first item that I have returned.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Saw On The Market
I'm a NY framer who uses his saw literally 365 days a year. I had owned a Bosch 1758 prior to owning the DeWalt DW369CSK. After learning that Skil manufactures Boschs' circular saws I decided to put down the Bosch and go with the crewe favorite. I'm not a big fan of Skil..considering that their products are not made well at all and for a guy whos living is made based on functioning tools.....i scrapped the Bosch/Skil. Whether you're a home owner/do it yourselfer or a professional framer or contractor, the DeWalt satisfies and proves it's worth every day..every time. Anthony

5-0 out of 5 stars powerful, durable, and lightweight
This is the third circular saw I've owned and it is by far the best. My first saw (a Craftsman) gave me many years of light service until it died during a bathroom remodeling project. I killed the next one (12 amp Skil) scoring concrete with a diamond blade. The blade caused too much friction for the underbuilt Skil and literally sheared the blade bearing off. I finally broke down and bought a heavy duty saw and I wish I had done so to begin with. This saw has yet to bog down on me even though I am using my old blades. The saw cuts smoothly and effortlessly and is lighter than the Skil. The depth and miter adjustments also work much more easily than on my old saws. The electric brake is also a nice feature, but not crucial to me. All this for a reasonable price. My only gripe is that the forward handle is a bit too far away from the blade to comfortably hold onto while holding the blade guard lever for making plunge cuts. I highly recommend this saw or at the very least get any 15 amp saw for the power. Eventually you'll need it so don't waste your time or money on the less powerful saws.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good saw but beware
I went for many years doing my hobby projects with the DeWalt 18v cordless trim saw. When the projects started getting bigger and bigger and I needed a bigger, corded saw I went right to DeWalt's site to see what was available. Being right handed and having used a left bladed saw for so long it was tough to buy a right blade. I almost went with their hybrid wormdrive with the left blade but after playing with one at the store, I figured it was too heavy and too much saw for my needs. Thus the DW369CSK, great power, ease of use and excellent quality I've come to expect from my DeWalt tools. It even made the switch to a right blade easier due to the wide line-of-sight area. It's even fairly light for full power sidewinder.
I looked at Milwaukee's left blade circ and almost went that route. Honestly, it was brand loyalty that keep me with the yellow saw. I am not dissapointed in the least, though. I only wish that DeWalt would get on the ball like Milwaukee and Porter Cable and offer a left and right bladed versions.

UPDATE: I had to come back and edit this review after a decent amount of use. For the most part, everything is fine but I have determinded that I just can't get this saw to cut perfectly square. I've messed with all the adjustments and I can only get it to about 89 degrees but not to 90. Close, but not quite as they say. For my needs, this is actually fine as I don't do any precision cutting with it, but for those that do, make sure to check it with a square and ruler before using. I've lowered it from 5 stars down to 3 as this could be a big bummer for those needing a perfect cut.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great saw
My Milwakee that I had for about 8 years developed problems after cutting a particularly tough peice of pressure treated lumber. I needed a saw imediately to finish a deck I was working on. I could not find a saw that I felt comfortable with until I came across the DeWalt DW369CSK. It is light weight and is comfortable in my hand. The cutting guide takes a little getting used to, but other than that this saw has it all. There is enough power to easily handle the toughest job, and the construction of the saw is equally impressive. A saw is a very personal thing and the DeWalt is everything I could want in a circular saw. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

What a beauty! One of the lightest framing nailersavailable, this DeWalt weighs in at just 7-1/2 pounds but packs awallop, sending nails into even the hardest woods with minimalrecoil. Dry fire lockout prevents this workhorse from firingempty, and should it jam up, you'll be working again in no timethanks to DeWalt's well-engineered quick-release jam-clearingmechanism. You can change the depth of the drive in a jiffy, too,and without tools. (You have to love that!) As with DeWalt'sother nailers, you receive both bump and sequential actiontriggers with your purchase. The magazine is angled at 31degrees, and combined with its 12-3/4-inch height, you cantoenail in the tightest spots. A reversible rafter/belt loop is anice touch, and DeWalt also tosses in a bottle of oil and somevery cool-looking safety glasses. With this nailer at yourdisposal you can't go wrong. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

  • Tool-free depth adjustment

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good nailer
I read many reviews before buying a new framer and it was between this one and the paslode. My company builds lots of decks and new homes, so this gun gets a workout. It has worked alongside a couple of paslodes now for about 6 months. It is excellently balance and powered. My only complaint is that after working through the winter in severe cold, it needed a full overhaul (under warranty thankfully) for the seals and O-rings while the paslodes kept right at it. Overall, a great gun, just hope it does not need seals every six months.

3-0 out of 5 stars Only does half the job it is meant to do
When I purchased this gun it seemed to be a winner.Light, powerful , great features. It wasn`t untill I loaded the gun with a new box of 8`s to bang out a sheathing job. This gun will not shoot any brand of 8`s strip nails , tried them all.It seems like the spring holding the strip nails has too much force and buches them together , jamming the gun after three shots. It does shoot 10`s excellent with ease , but for [money], it does half the job of any other nail gun.Try a friends before you buy one....

5-0 out of 5 stars A Framer's delight
This is a sturdy, well-made gun that fires 3 1/4 and 2 1/2 inch
clipped heads with equal tenacity. The bump-trigger is very light and I can easily rat-a-tat if I'm not quick off of the "bump". I might switch to a single selective trigger which comes packaged with the tool. Wish I had a carry-box or fabric bag that came with it. I'm ready to tackle several decks now just to feel it work. GREAT Tool !!! C.H. Josephs

5-0 out of 5 stars nice nailer
A case would have been nice. Some dewalt things come with a case and some don't, I guess. A air inlet connection would have been nice as well. I had to hunt down a connection in my compressor junk.... glad I had one. I don't have any framing nailers to compare this to so I'm not quallified to rate this item against the competition. The price was nice with the 50 dollar rebate. The air inlet area seems to be machined off center by design (perhaps to keep the airhose from being hit duing recoil), but this caught my eye right away as a flaw
because it just looks crooked(hell, let's face it, it is crooked). I love new tools, so I am overall glad to have purchased this nailer and look forward to nailing!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Nailer
I've used proter cable for a long time and I was a bit nervious purchasing this nailer. I've framed 2 houses now in 3 months with this gun, and it is a champ. It has shot about 11 boxes (22,000 nails), It's been dropped from the 2nd story (twice) and generally been abused as most framing guns are, I mean Ive got a 2 x 12 in my other hand, im not setting the nailer down gently right? It gets dropped alot. I've had 3 jams where Ive had to pull off the magazine to clear the driver, thats 3 jams in 22,000 not bad. It just does what it's supose to all day everday, what more could you want? ... Read more

No compressor. No hoses. No kidding. And no sacrifices in speed or power, either. There's absolutely no comparison between this performer and the fuel-cell powered competition, which we thought was a great innovation. But there's no costly fuel cell to replace on this tool—-just pop on a recharged XRP battery and get back on the job. The only difference you'll feel between this and a traditional pneumatic is that you're not tethered to an air hose. It's just as fast and fires just as powerfully into both soft and hard joints. We love that you can choose bump or sequential mode for precision or speed, something most nailers don't offer, and the integrated headlight is another impressive addition, really lighting up your workpiece even in the worst conditions. There's a fantastic six-position numbered dial to reference your depths, so you can move easily between, for example, baseboard and crown molding without struggling to reset the depth. DeWalt's covered what would have been our main safety concern: An air tool can't fire without a hose, but what's to keep this one from being accidentally fired? They've built in a contact trip lock-off. We were pleased with the troubleshooting process, too—the nosepiece is clear and very accessible, letting you clear a jammed fastener without screwdrivers or wrenches, though we couldn't get it to jam for us. Rear loading is simple and fast, and it accepts most brands of 16-gauge nails. It's built tough for the job site, but the home hobbyist would love this tool. Just hook it on your tool belt and go; it's truly one of the coolest tools we've seen and the kit has everything you need: a one-hour charger, two 18V XRP batteries, reversible belt hook, no-mar tip, safety glasses and the heavy-duty kit box.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... • Sequential operating mode allows for precision placement and the bump operating mode provides the user with production speed

Two things set this tool apart from its classmates: the largenail capacity and the rear-loading magazine that lets you lock andload, or load and lock. The tool is light, comfortable, and sturdy, features DeWalt's ingenious tool-free jam-clearing mechanism, andoffers a fantastic line of sight. The sliding depth adjustment isfurther evidence of DeWalt's creative problem-solving abilities. Unlockit with your index finger, slide the adjustment with your other hand, and you're ready to fire. This model has a nice plus in the 360-degreeswivel exhaust cap. Great pad, too--it didn't mar anything to which weintroduced it. Finally, and this may not seem like a big deal, but ineveryday use you're going to love the reversible belt/rafter hook.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars bob the builder
i have owned this nailer since it was first introduced. i've loved it since the moment i started using it. i have the angled and brad nailers as well. i have my own remodeling business and we're constantly using these nailers. i've never had any misfires or jamming issues. i would have to say that the top notch detail to this gun is that they all come with belt hooks. i'd say that dewalt has a niche with that one idea alone.

5-0 out of 5 stars I don't know that I'm in love with this...
...shooter, but after ten months of moderate use it has completed all that has been asked of it. I have not experienced any problems with this gun in the capacity of crown molding, cabinet making or woodworking. I clean and care for this tool as I do all my other tools while running Porter Cable brads and it has not failed me. This is my most reliable pneumatic nailer to date.

4-0 out of 5 stars good and bad
Good points:

1.) it looks great

2.) tool-free jamb clearing

3.) it has a lock so you can't shoot by mistake

bad points:

1.) sometimes the nails pop out of the holder when you load them

2.) THIS NAILER MAKES THE NEW DEWALT D55155 COMPRESSOR CYCLE OFTEN. I HATE WAITING!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good choice
I've had this nailer for about a year and a half. I have used nails from 2" to 1 1/4", and have had no problems. The gun is light, smooth, and easy to adjust. I even use it to make cabinets, and it works flawlessly. I've never used other brands, so I can't compare, but I am definetely glad I chose this one.

3-0 out of 5 stars Kind of a let down...
I bought this gun with high hopes and have had some pretty frustrating work days because of it. The first time out of the kit I tried to use it and got nothing but misfires, double nails, no fires and jams. I took it to the guys I bought it from and they found the driver was put in the wrong direction, so back to work I went. Well when I tried to use 2.5" nails it does nothing but miss fire and jamb. I have spent more time in the last two days re-shooting the base moulding then I have anything else. I took it in to the shop again today and had them look at it and of course it works just fine at 120 psi, but when the compressor kicks in at 90 how is it going to be working??? Not really sastified with the gun, DeWalt has some great features like the depth adjustment, and the tool-free jamb clearing, trigger lock and belt hook, but I think they still need to do some work one the driver assembly. I wish I could say I have had such good luck like the other reviewers, but at least I know there is one other carpenter who I have spoke with that has has the same troubles I have. ... Read more

This is a great drill, but know what you're getting. It has a big motor but only spins up to 850 rpm (which is 1/3 the speed of a "normal" drill). It's perfect for spade bits and hole saws, but anything else should be left for your light duty drill. I'd recommend it; it's a great tool at a reasonable price.

4-0 out of 5 stars A screamer
This is a great tool for the price . One of my guys bought one. It drills pretty well in any material. Except masonry. It's not so fast that you burn your bits in steel. The torque is quite impressive . More than my Milwaukee Magnum. You could easily hurt yourself with this bad boy. But that means you can use some pretty large bits and hole saws with it. Some times when all your batteries are dead (if you forget to charge them) you need a corded drill just to remember how nice the cordless one are.

5-0 out of 5 stars handy handle
The 360 degree side handle on this drill is so convenient. Most powerful drills are ackward in hard to reach places. The balance and control this drill has is excellent. A good buy. ... Read more

If you're looking to add a solid, reliable cordless impact wrench to your tool crib, the heavy-duty, 3/8-inch, DeWalt DW051K-2 12-volt cordless impact wrench might be worth considering. This mid-level impact wrench has everything you'll need to loosen and tighten tough bolts and drive fasteners through metal, concrete and wood surfaces. Plus, it's small enough (6-1/2 inches long and 3.5 pounds) to get into places larger units with comparable features simply cannot reach. But don't let its size fool you. Under that slight exterior beats the heart of a workhorse. The wrench churns out a whopping 1,200 in./lbs. of maximum torque with speeds ranging from 0-2,400 rpm and 0-3,000 bpm. The unit features an all-metal transmission, a durable magnesium gear case and a 3/8-inch hog ring anvil that accepts impact sockets with ease. A textured, anti-slip comfort grip provides ultimate comfort and stability. A specially designed impacting mechanism reduces kickback -- and fatigue. And a variable-speed trigger switch with electric brake means better overall control.--Carl Thress ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars great tool
I am a professional mechanic and have used many cordless impact drivers. This is the best I have run across. I wish it was 14.4 volt so it would use the same batteries as drill but that is my only complaint. Plenty of power will break non impact sockets and small bolts beware. Lightweight and powerful. I will buy 18volt 1/2" impact in future when funds allow.
My recomendation BUY IT!

1-0 out of 5 stars Beware from where you purchase this item
Beware of purchasing this or similar items from Amazon. I inadvertently ordered the wrong item and when I went to cancel my order less than 30 minutes later, they said I could not because it was being prepared for shipping. Still is 2 days later by the way. When I went to their return section, they said that this item could not be returned. Why does someone sell you something that cannot be returned to them?? Now I am stuck with an item that cannot be used and cost me a pretty penny to boot or of course I can sell it on Amazon myself, for less and pay the shipping. Go to the stores so you know what you are dealing with. Sure would be nice if they disclosed prior to purchasing that the item can not be returned.

This cordless impact is very impressive, not only does it have
100 lbs of torque, it's light weight and compact.

4-0 out of 5 stars Why not an 18-Volt Version DeWalt?
This isn't so much a review about this 12-Volt unit as it is a critique on DeWalts decision not to provide an 18-Volt version to their loyal customers. DeWalt markets their 12V and 14.4V Cordless Impact Wrench Kits, but what about one for their ever popular 18-Volt line??? Personally, I prefer to save and standardize whenever possible, hence my decision to stick with their 18-Volt line of cordless tools. Standardizing to a 18V battery allows all of my batteries to work with all of my cordless tools. The power of their 18V units pack enough strength to handle just about any job. Why not offer that with their 1/2" impact wrench line? Especially when you consider the work an impact wrench does. If DeWalt is testing the market to see if Cordless Impact Wrenches will sell by putting out 12 and 14.4V versions, it would seem the wrong way to go. These tools (Impact Wrenches) aren't the meat and potatoes of tool manufacturer's lines, and I would hate to see DeWalt discontinue making them due to low sales, because of folks like myself who are going to wait for the real tool (an 18V version) to hit the market. ... Heavy-duty work requires a heavy-duty tool. The 14.4-volt, 1/2-inch DeWalt DW055K-2 cordless impact wrench delivers on every front. While deceptively slight in build (the unit measures only 6-1/2 inches in length and weighs just 4.1 pounds), the DeWalt is long on performance, delivering an impressive 1,550 in./lbs. of maximum torque with speeds ranging from 0-2,400 rpm and 0-3,000 bpm. Consequently, it can get into places larger units simply cannot reach, delivering powerful results without the added cumber of an extension cord or oversized frame. Of course, size isn't everything. The DeWalt is also built tough throughout, with an all-metal transmission, a durable magnesium gear case and a 1/2-inch hog ring anvil that accepts impact sockets with ease. 5-0 out of 5 stars Only rating it against my other screw guns
I've used the DeWalt 18 volt driver/hammer drill for years, and I really have thought it was a good product. I once dropped my drill from a second story and after it bounced a few times it still worked, so I've been convinced that the DeWalt product was a decent brand.

I recently got this 14.4 impact and have loved using it. It's lighter than the 18 volt I'm used to and easy to handle. It drives long screws no problem. There are no dials to turn, no speeds to set and the battery seems to last a long time. I've used it for setting electrical finish, which takes a light touch, to drilling holes in stucco with a masonary bit (doing what I normally would have used the "hammer drill" function for).

I do know carpenters that swear by the Makita impact driver, so I can't compare brand to brand, but if you've always used a normal driver drill and haven't yet tried out the impact driver, you're in for a treat. It really does a much better job.

And to think, I used a Yankee back in the day, and I'm not that old,,,,,well ok, I'm pushing forty, but still, I cut my teeth with a Yankee screwdriver,,,,,how far things have come.

2-0 out of 5 stars Consider other brand
I would only recommend this tool to someone who uses it for home. I am a contractor whom owns numerous Dewalt cordless tools and am disappointed in most. I own the 14v and the 12v impacts, and in a matter of 6 months of daily use they have both burned up arbors. The batteries will not keep a charge close to origional. B&D service centers have repaired both under warrenty, but they will not admit to any design flaw. "Heavy Duty", I don't think so.

3-0 out of 5 stars tom; carpenter
this dewalt impact drill spins faster and has more power for driving screws into concrete or steel but the batteries last only half the time as my makita 12 volt impact.so i use my makita mostly cause i dont have time to be changing batteries every 15 minutes..

5-0 out of 5 stars DeWalt DW055K-2 1/2" 14.4-Volt Cordless Impact Wrench
This thing works great. It is powerful enough to install/remove lug nuts and is easy enough to use in jobs where you might normally use a 3/8" ratchet setup. I bought it to speed up the job of assembling new boat trailers at a marina. No hose to drag around, fast speed, and small size makes it perfect for a job that has many bolts to be tightened but are spread out. With it we can assembly about 3-4 trailers on one battery. Each trailer involves loosening and then tightening about 16 3/8 self-locking nuts (which are hard to turn before they are tight) and then the 10 lug nuts, which are at close to 100 LB-ft. The first test I did when I got it was to remove the lug nuts off our truck, which had not been touched for two years. It did it but just barely. It is not the big brute for high torque, but it is compact and handy. My only gripe is the sockets are held on too tight by the retention pin, maybe as it wears it will release easier.

5-0 out of 5 stars Throw away your other cordless screwguns
I have many other 12 and 18 volt DeWalt tools. This impact wrench may not replace a compressor and air impact wrench for cars but it sure drives screws and bolts easier than all other screwguns. It makes light work of driving a 3" screw in hard maple without predrilling. It will not bust your nuckles when driving the big screws in hard woods. It dimples drywall beautifully. I will take this over any screwgun of any make. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Dewalt DW124K
I bought the DW124 several years ago, when it was the only drill of it's kind. The other alternative at that time was mainly the stubby Milwaukee Hole Hawg, which was what I had used up until that point. Makita also made a Hole Hawg look-alike but wasn't readily available in my area back then.
The Hole Hawg was fast and had lots of torque but the short body length made it difficult to control. The bulky gear case behind the chuck and the extended motor housing made it too wide to get into really tight spots. It also required you to stay on top of it at all times or it had a nasty tendency to wrench your wrist and shoulder, smash your hand against a wall, bruise your kidneys or pound your upper thigh mercilessly all day long. In addition, when working from a ladder it could throw you off if the bit began to bind up and you didn't react quickly enough.

I now use the Dewalt drill on the job almost every day and even though it is well worn, it has never given me any trouble.

It is fast and has plenty of torque. The long body and handle gives the operator more leverage, making it much safer and easier to control, which is probably why both Milwaukee and Makita copied it and came out with their own similar models last year. I have tried both the new Makita RAD and Milwaukee super hawg and even though the DW124 has a lower 8-amp motor and slightly lower RPM's in both high and low speeds, I still prefer the DW124. Mainly because the Dewalt's chuck is further forward and the top leading edge of the gear case is beveled, so with the bail handle removed, as it always is on my drill, it will fit into even tighter spaces than the others will.
The DW124 is reversible and has two speed ranges. It utilizes a clutch when in low speed to prevent the torque of a jammed bit from snapping your wrist.
I use it with hole saws up to a 4-5/8" with either a 6", 12" or 18" extension. Dewalt says the maximum hole saw size is 6". It is also used with self-feed auger bits up to 4-5/8" and "nail eater" ship auger style bits up to 1-1/2 X 18".
The DW124 kit consists of a steel storage case, adjustable bail handle and a threaded side handle.
An important advantage that Dewalt has over other power tool manufacturers is easy access to repair parts and technical information. You can get parts and tech bulletins online, direct from Dewalt's Service Net. Parts are also available through Grainger Parts Operation. This can be a huge time and cost saving convenience for owners that repair their own tools, as I do.
A drill like the DW124 is a necessity for contractors working in the plumbing, electrical, HVAC and pipe fitting trades, because with the fast pace of construction and high cost of skilled labor these days, you really can't compete or work efficiently without having at least one on the job.
This is a very solid tool and I will definitely be buying another when the time comes. I would also have no problem recommending it to anyone who works in the trades and needs to drill many large holes quickly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ahh ... thats a nice!
Is it powerful? Yes...Is it comfortable to work with?Yes! Would you buy it again? Yes! , it's my best hole hawg'n friend!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Mega drill
I am a plumbing contractor from the north east, I have been plumbing for almost twenty years and for the last ten to twelve years of that my drilling partner has been nothing but the Dewalt 1/2" 8 amp right angle drill. Nothing compares with it. It fits comfortably in my hands and has more speed and power then any other drill out there. I have tryied them all. I drill a lot of holes in my trade of all different sizes so speed and comfort are major factors, I drill out a building in better then half the time with the Dewalt then I would with the best of the competetors drills.I use to work for some of the biggest plumbing shops in the north east, once the crews got a feel of my Dewalt they all switched to the Dewalt. Its faster, tougher, safer and easier to handle then any other drill Ive ever used.

The 20-degree angle gives you a little more maneuverability in tight spaces than the straight magazine, but you can't go wrong with either one. It's built tough for the job site, but the home hobbyist would love this tool. Just hook it on your tool belt and go; it's truly one of the coolest tools we've seen, and the kit has everything you need: a one-hour charger, two 14.4V XRP batteries, reversible belt hook, no-mar tip, safety glasses and the heavy-duty kit box.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... • 6 position dial allows the user to move between applications without having to re-acquire exact depth setting
  • Easy access to the nosepiece for the simple removal of a jammed fastener without the use of screwdrivers or tool wrenches

  • Sequential operating mode allows for precision placement and the bump operating mode provides the user with production speed
  • Headlights provide increased visibility in low-light conditions or confined areas without any light

Amazon.com Review

This DeWalt circular saw is a rugged tool designed with professional carpenters' needs in mind. It has a 15 amp motor that produces a whopping 2,075 watts, which is equivalent to about 2-3/4 horsepower. In less scientific terms those numbers mean this saw can slice through lumber like a tornado through a trailer park. If that's a little too fast for you, it also comes with an electric brake for quick stops. The generous 5-1/2-inch base pivots for depth of cut and bevels on a ball-joint mechanism that offers smoother, faster adjustments than the simple hinge arrangement typically found on other saws. It has a bevel capacity of 0 to 50 degrees, and--like the depth-of-cut gauge--the bevel gauge can be easily recalibrated if the saw takes a tumble on the job. Depth-of-cut adjustments are made by unscrewing the front handle a bit, adjusting to the desired depth, and screwing it back down tight. This operation is so smooth it can be done without even changing your grip on the saw, reducing downtime between cuts. The saw's construction is solid throughout and it should be capable of living a long life on even the toughest job sites. Blade changes are quick thanks in part to the easy-to-reach shaft lock button; however, onboard storage of the blade-changing wrench would be an improvement. This is a great tool for serious professionals in need of serious cutting power. At 12.3 pounds, it isn't the lightest model available, but big power doesn't come in small packages, and 7-1/4 inch sidewinder circular saws don't get any burlier than this. --Brian Trinen ... 3-0 out of 5 stars It's not a Super Sawcat, but it's decent.
If you've ever used a B&D Super Sawcat-either 7 1/4" or 8 1/4"-you'll understand my point of view. The Sawcat is the saw to which I judge all others. The first and most obvious comparison is the DeWalt's electric brake-the blade still turns after the saw is shut down. When you shut down a Sawcat the blade stops, and I mean now. The next item is the shoe plate. The DeWalt is wide enough, but if you look at a Sawcat's shoe plate you notice B&D turned up the edges just a skosh so when you run it down a straight edge it won't hang up in that invariable gap between the straight edge and the item you're cutting. No turned up edge on the DeWalt. In addition on the DeWalt's shoe plate where there are the marks indicating the blade path at 45 and and 0 degrees there is a bit of residual casting that makes the 0 degree line indistinct. I suppose a slight high speed modification with a file will cure the problem, but a Sawcat wouldn't require any file work. These, of course, are details, but, hey, that's what carpentry is all about. On the plus side are all the items mentioned by other reviewers-good long cord, easy depth adjustment (although the indicator on the depth gauge sits far enough away from the gauge to make exact reading questionable), external brushes, good balance, and power. Whether or not the DeWalt can stand up to years of gaff like a Sawcat, I can't say. In sum, the DeWalt is a decent saw for the price, but guys like me will keep looking for that stash of new old stock Sawcats.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Best DeWalt Circular Saw ever made!
While it being an impressive claim considering the quality of DeWalt portable tools, the DW364 is still a far cry from the Super Sawcat of the late to early 90's.

The DW364 was the first Dewalt (of the yellow variety) circular saw that featured an electric brake. It's strong shoe/base coupled with a strong knob/depth adjuster makes this as solid a saw out in the market. Blade changing is practical with the blade lock feature. Easy motor brush access, makes this saw very easy to self-service.

Good saw that has only proven itself

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent saw, but not perfect
In 1998 I was buying a few of the last high-end items needed to start my own roofing company when I bought this saw. After dealing on several other tools, I asked the salesman (a retired general contractor) what was the best circular saw in the store. Without pause, he grabbed this DeWalt. I have other saws available, but this is practically the only saw that I've used since June of '98. I'm a teacher so I only do carpentry in the summers, but still this saw has been subject to a lot of use and more than a little abuse. It still works perfectly. It's an incredibly powerful and durable saw. If you use good quality blades, I don't believe that the wood exists that it can't cut through with ease.

If there were three things that I'd do to improve it, it would be these:
1. make it lighter
2. left-side cutting blade instead of right-side
3. laser-light guide for cutting

I know that the first two are already available on newer models, but I've yet to use them. If everything else is the same, those saws should be darn close to perfect. My next circular saw will be a DeWalt, but it might be several years until I need one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent saw!
Nothing but good experience with this saw. Great power, good ergonomics, and totally reliable. The shoe is sturdy, perfectly aligned, and promotes smooth cutting when used with a straightedge. The front-mounted depth adjust knob is far more convenient and more sturdy than the usual rear-mounted depth adjust nut. The blade brake works exceptionally well.

Highly recommended!

5-0 out of 5 stars Has It All!
Owned this saw for over 10 years. Has really good power, even when the cut is off and the blade gets twisted a bit. Depth gauge and trapeze blade drop are great features--the later moves the blade up/down while maintaining the saw grip at the same angle. Most others rotate the grip up as the depth decreases. Forward grip handle twist locks the depth, easy to use and secures tightly. Good line-of-sight for the cut-line, never a problem! Great buy for the $'s. ... Read more

DeWalt's D25203K is the tool you need to make holes 3/16- to 7/8-inch in concrete. It's powered by a heavy-duty, variable speed 7.5 amp motor with dust-sealed ball bearings for long life. For super versatility, it switches easily between three modes of operation: hammer drill, drill only, and hammer only. Set it to hammer, and you're ready to chip off materials like splattered mortar. Switch to drill, and you're set to drive bits and fasteners. It's packing 2.3 foot/pounds of impact energy, but the rubber molded handle makes a tough job more comfortable. Need to back out a fastener? Just switch to reverse mode. Should a bit jam, you're covered by the factory-set clutch that's ready to reduce any sudden, high-torque reaction. The side handle can be positioned anywhere on its 360-degree rotation, a great plus for left-handers as well as awkward workspaces. Because there's no battery to lug around, it's only 6 pounds, so it's easy on the user and feels good in the hand.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

The DeWalt DW621 is the best plunge router in its class. So saythe editors of two leading woodworking magazines, PopularWoodworking and American Woodworker. And why not? It's thefirst professional-grade plunge router with built-in dust collection. It runs quietly but efficiently on a powerful 9 amp, 2-horsepowermotor. Its plunging action is smooth. It maintains variable speeds of8,000 to 24,000 rpm. Its controls are easy to work. It's mountable. Ithas a safety lock on its on/off switch for added protection. And thelist goes on. 5-0 out of 5 stars Sweeeeet!!!
The reason I bought this model was for the built-in dust collection through the handle. This one feature alone sets the Dewalt appart from the others. Truly a well designed piece of equipment, and good bang for your buck.

Pros:
Soft start will not jerk the router out of your hands
Smooth Plunging action
Great dust collection, easy clean up.
Well balanced and just the right weight
Has variable speed control
Rack and Pinion depth control is easy/fast to set and use.
Constant speed under load
Plenty of power at 2 H.P.
I like the squared sides on the base. Great when using jigs and fences.
Comes with 1/4" and 1/2" collets
The start switch is located on the handle so you never have to take your hands off the router
Plunge lock is also in the handle... very nice.

Cons:
The two step start switch takes some getting used to.
The router must wind down to a low RPM before re-start. While this can be annoying sometimes, it is bound to increase brush life.
You don't need to buy the fine height adjuster. Save your $$
The edge guide is O.K., not great. But it came as a free accessory.

Overall: I truly enjoy using this router. I recommend this model for hand help operations.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great plunge router, but the base
Overall this is a great router, which I've used for four years now. Its design from the dust collection to the functions built into the handles aren't matched by anything out there. The variable speed is ideal for routing different types of material and the electronics keep it at a constant speed. HOWEVER, the base is a pain, it is not standard. If you plan to use it under a router table, figure on leaving it there, the change between above and below won't be fun. Any accessories for the base must be Dewalt and are generally trickier to find the other brands. All that being said, it is an excellant above the table router with accurate depth adjustments and a flat edge on the base for guides and jigs.

2-0 out of 5 stars 3 STRIKES AND OUT
I purchased my DW621 router several years ago after reading great publication reviews. I was particularly interested in the calibrated fine depth adjustment. Well the depth readings on my router are not even close - off 1/16 inch at 1/4 inch setting.
I called Dewalt but could not find anyone who was willing to try and understand my peoblem. Strike 1.
Well, I decided to use the router in my new Leigh Dovetail Jig which required a collet guide. When my results were poor, I finally checked bit centering. It was way off with no adjustment possible making it useless with the LEIGH jig. Strike 2! I recently purchased the LEIGH FMT mortise and tennon jig where the router mounts directly to the jig baseplate with a supplied centering tool. So far so good. On my first use, I noticed that bit the jumped about 1/20 of an inch when side pressure was applied. The movement was in the small plunge guide post. This movement occurred several times making my tennon results erratic. Strike 3 and out!!
Can somene who has written these great reviews tell me what this router is good for outside of bearing guided operations?

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice features, but out of center on my sample
I have had my DW621 for four years. I recently moved into doing dovetails and other tasks that require the use of guide bushings. I immediately noticed that the guide bushing adapter provided with the DW621 was not on center with my bits (it was out by 1/8") inch. Since I was not sure if it was the bit or the adapter that was out of alignment, I attached the DW621 to both my Jess'em router lift and a universal predrilled base plate. It was out by 1/8" in same direction on both.

Ultimately, you can make a perfectly centered baseplate with a lexan blank, a drill, a few bits and some patience, so the problem was not insurmountable if you intend to use the router freehand or in a table that accepts user made baseplates. The Jess'em router lift unfortunately does not. For me that is ok since I intend to use another router for that application (it is too much of a pain to mount/dismount).

Like other users, I have noticed that the baseplate threads strip out easily, so don't get carried away when you tigthen them.

2-0 out of 5 stars not great, only "okay"
what I didn't like:

1.) THE BASE is too small - It has a tendency to lean forward even when I move the router S-L-O-W-L-Y

2.) POWER - This router has a dissapointing motor. When it's cranked up to it's highest level I think it's weak when cutting through SOFT pine

3.) HANDLES - The lockdown handle has a tendency to work loose as I'm using it. UNFORTUNATLELY, tightening it too much will destroy it

4.) THE VACUUM - it's abililty to attach to a vacuumm is a good idea but FAILS in the end.
a.) the hose always gets in the way when you're routing (ANNOYING!!!)
B.) the joint where the hose attaches is NOT FLEXIBLE AT ALL

5.) COLLET CHANGES - the plastic cover for the vaccuum always gets in the way when you're changing bits

C-O-N-C-L-U-S-I-O-N

.... i REALLY dislike my Dewalt router... I don't think the reviewers in woodworking magazines know what they're talking about.. they're always giving this router good reviews!!! ... Read more

Keyless chucks can sometimes be a mixed blessing. On the one hand, bit changes are quicker and more convenient, but bit slippage can also be an issue at times. That's not the case with the DeWalt heavy-duty 3/8-inch VSR drill kit with keyless chuck. DeWalt has equipped this tool with a two-sleeve ratcheting chuck that locks shut and holds bits firmly in place. The drill weighs just 3.5 pounds but can power its way through metal, wood and masonry, with bit capacities of 3/8 inches, one inch and 1/2 inch respectively. A 6 amp motor delivers powerful torque and speeds of 0-2,500 rpm, while an advanced brush system automatically stops the tool when the brushes wear out, preventing serious motor damage. The drill is comfortable to hold and comes with a built-in bubble level that lets you know your holes are straight and true. All in all, a very solid performer.--Carl Thress ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Not that great.
I have been using this drill now for a few months, and overall I am disappointed. The keyless chuck has a habit of loosening itself. This is especially noticeable when drilling with spade bits. I occasionally have to drill through two or three 2-by stock at once, and the chuck excels at loosening at these times.

The drill also has poor speed control. Under heavier load, when as when trying to tighten a drywall screw the last turn, the drill has a tendency to suddenly overspeed and sink the screw too deeply. I had an old Black and Decker VSR drill that I used for over 15 years and was able to get each drywall screw just right with the fine control that its trigger offered.

It does have quit a bit of power and is comfortable in the hand, which is why I am giving it 3 stars instead of 1 or 2.

I must say that the problems with this drill took me by surprise, as I have used a friend's cordless DeWalt drill and have been extremely pleased with it. This corded drill is simply not up to the same standard.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best - no question
Stong, Fast, Light - Feels great. If this one lasts as long as my last DeWalt 3/8" drill I'm in good shape. The chuck is the bomb - it makes a clicking locking sound. DeWalt is amazing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Drill
This drill is fantastic. I've owed Black & Decker's, Craftsman, Ryobi and even and old one sold years ago by J.C. Penny's and this by far is the best. The quality is outstanding and it will drill through anything. Add DeWalt drill bits and get ready to do some serious drilling, this drill it makes it fun! As to the price, well it's the same as The Home Depot, but if you buy here at Amazon like I did and get the free shipping, you save your local sales tax you're money ahead. This drill has turned me into a DeWalt man - period. Next on my list is the 9 amp DeWalt reciprocating saw.

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb Drill at a great price
I have owned this drill for nearly two months. This was purchased as a replacement for my old Skil Drill and has been awesome. The keyless chuck is excellent - I have not experienced ANY loosening as some other reviewers have, The speed control is perfection and the power is impressive. I don't like cordless powertools much and am always on the lookout for a good tool for a great price. This one fits the bill.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Drill at an Ordinary Price
This thing ties with my Bosch jigsaw for favorite tool in my home shop. It's tough, powerful and cheap. If you're looking for a high-quality drill for homes projects, this is the one to buy. Forget cordless if you're on a budget; you'll spend more money for something less powerful that constantly runs out of power in the middle of a project. Your house has electricity. Buy an extension cord and put yout money into quality rather than batteries.

Here's my single complaint; the price breakdown that they are showing. I bought mine for $63 from Lowes. Sears had it in store for $65. I compared prices from a number of major retailers and nobody is listing it for anywhere near the $100+ that Amazon is claiming to be marking down from. When you buy this thing from Amazon, you're getting a good product shipped quickly, etc. But their claim of '40% off' is just not based in reality. Amazon's price is the same as everyone else's. ... Outstanding torque and speed will power you through any drilling or driving job. The DeWalt-built motor pounds out 400 inch-pounds of torque--impressive for a 12-volt. But even better is the third gear, which provides drilling and driving speeds of 1,800 rpm, with the lower ranges at 0-450 and 0-1,400 rpm. We like the carbide jaws in the 1/2-inch chuck, because they really do prevent bit slippage. The ergonomics are great on this drill; because the handle is essentially balanced under the heft of the motor, we felt minimal arm fatigue. The grip is comfortable, the curved trigger fits the finger nicely and the reversing switch is right where you want it. DeWalt's XRP batteries do hold a greater charge than standard batteries, so run time is longer and there's less down time on the job. Great performance and jobsite-tough.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ...
