Great for sanding contours
The sanding tubes are the best approach to this type of sanding. They fit all the shapes available for the Dremel contour sander. As the sandpaper wears, the tube can be rotated on the shape to provide a fresh surface. This allows maximum economy. The tubes are easily changed. Beginning to look a bit worn and tired.
My cutter has cut everything from balsa to hardwoods, and even some wire and plastic. After two years it really isn't worn out, but I am now ordering a replacement-- just in case I need it in the next year or two. In answer to the last reviewer who wonders what bits are available to fit Dremel tools. If he would use the universal chuck he could use any bit he could shove into it down to sub-miniature bits like I use to drill holes through toothpicks used to make small parts on ship models.

A GERAT CUTTER FOR USE IN PINE
I needed something that could cut through wood like butter and I found it! This great carbide slotting saw cuts through pine like nothing! If you take enough passes, you can cut right through! This bit hogs out alot of material. So if you like to use it for hobby work or if you need something that will hog out slots in wood quickly this is the one to get. In fact, I have almost used mine up to the point where I think it's time to get a replacement! I peronally reccomend that you use it in pine. it really lets the wood chips fly!

My most used tool.
I hate sanding just like you, but this sander makes it a lot easier. The orbital action is excellent allowing rapid stock removal while leaving the surface very smooth. The variable speed is great for delicate jobs or tight corners. The extra long cord is also a plus. The contour attachments work well (on or off the machine) but the sleeves are pretty spendy. If you look around on the web you may find them on sale from time to time. Stock up if you do. The only other concern worth mentioning is the diamond shaped sanding pad. The hook and loop paper sticks to it so well that you need to use care when removing the paper so as not to rip the pad from its base. Nice assortment of grits. If most of the work done with the Contour Sander is done with the contour "bits", a general assortment of hook-and-loop sanding sheets is all that is necessary. Of course, if you are using the detail sander attachment a lot, then you would probably want to purchase a full pack of each grit. Still, this set is good to round out the original kit. ... Keeping it in place
The D-Vise has become one of the more useful pieces of equipment in my Dremel arsenal. Sometimes you need both hands to work the tool, and you need something to secure your crafting piece. Although I feel that just about any good vise would do an adequate job holding my work pieces, the D-Vise does have a few advantages to it that most bench vises lack: it's relatively small, and it can swivel to just about any desirable angle and elevation.

One drawback is that, despite it's relatively small size, the D-Vise wasn't made to be portable. When I'm doing Dremel tool craft work at various locations, that can be a hindrance. I've gotten around this by securely mounting it to a wide, sturdy two-by-four, and when I need it, I securely vise-grip it to a temporary workbench.
