5-0 out of 5 stars Great quality and workmanship.
I just returned from a wood show and saw this sliding table in action. This sliding table tracks straight and level. But most impressive is how strong it is.I put two, 200 pound friends on this table and then moved the table back and forth. The table slid effortlessly, like no one was on the table. It was unbelievable. That's 400 pounds of material moving back and forth.JET makes a sliding table that will attach to most table saws but it is bulky and heavy. This thing is realatively light. The miter is excellent, easy to adjust and very easy to remove.I found that all the functions were well thought out and easy to use.For example:the frame of the sliding table is designed so that when you slide the table towards the rear there are no crossmembers in your way.Meaning that you can move your body inside the front of the table. Thus you don't find yourself leaning over the table as you push the material through. It's attention to detail like this that you will find throughout the design of this table.I would highly recommend this sliding table.

3-0 out of 5 stars if you have the patiecne...
this thing is a PAIN to adjust, if you are not willing to put in a good day of frustration don't buy it.... but once you do it and you really crank down on the allen bolts it seems to stay put.i set mine up over two years ago and with tons of use it still is right on.
the plastic knobs that are used for moving the fence around are trash... you can find metal replacemnts through some woodworking supply stores (stuff like this can really piss you off when it breaks off while your in the middle of a project)
i pretty much don't use the 49" capacity as it is a pain to move the fence around and change all the adjustments... you can go up to around 34" if you lower the blade and then raise it up through the material, i believe 28"is the real max...
adding a micro adjust stop to the fence would be a nice touch. it is hard to move those 32nd etc...
for all it's short comings i can say i would be lost with out it. it has allowed me to take on some huge projects that would have not been possible crosscutting with a skill saw or what have you.... i don'tconsider it to be expensive, when you start looking into "real" sliding table setups and good panel saws your talking thousands....
i give it 3 stars, a mark that takes in the hassles and cheap knobs and compares it to a powermatic sliding table that costs over $10,000.....

2-0 out of 5 stars Excalibur Sliding Table
I was looking for a precision attachment for my table saw to cut sheet goods and long stock. The excalibur table is marketed as such a product. Unfortunately, I was very dissappointed. It was an exercise in frustration and futility to properly adjust the unit and once I though I had it, it didn't take much to knock it out of alignment. Sad to say I believe this is a way overpriced piece of equipment (I almost want to say junk)and I believe your money can be better spent elsewhere. I have some ideas of how to correct this but it will require putting more effort than I care to spend on something that cost this much. I wish it was more like my Biesmeyer fence that was able to produce accurate cuts with hardly any difficulty at all.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice machine, adequate manual
After using a Delta left-tilt unisaw with a Besemeyer fence for a year, it was apparent that a sliding table would make cabinet-making easier. The EXSLT40 arrived in two large packages, and it contains a 16-minute video showing assembly (the video is slightly out of date, so it should be used as an overview only). It took about a day to assemble and tune the sliding table, including the time spent removing the saw's left extensionand shortening the two Besemeyer fence rails and the fence tube so that the sliding table would fit. (I cut the fence on a chop saw using an abrasive disk - its loud and sparks fly, so wear appropriate protection).

The manual was only adequate - more than once I had to puzzle over a step to figure out what was needed, but eventually it came together nicely. The quality of the parts is excellent, and the machine operates well. A couple of points:

1) Make sure your saw table is level first!
2) The tuning process is very iterative, you will have to loosen and retighten the same bolts a few times until you are happy with the assembly.
3) The EXSLT40 will handle a 4 foot crosscut, but only with the fence relocated to the back. In practice, this only takes a minute to do.

If I had more shop space, I would prefer the larger EXSLT60, which has an increased capacity. But given the size constraints of most shops, the EXSLT40 is an excellent choice.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's a bit overkill for what it does
This sliding table is built using the same material for its big brothers, the 49" and 62" versions. The table top is about 2/3 width of the next size up. If room is not a big concern, I would spend a little more for the next size up which I did. The construction for this table is solid and it operates smoothly. For DeWalt DW746 owners, I would suggest that you get the sliding table from DeWalt if 30" crosscut is all you needed. This table will not fit and look on the DeWalt saw as good as their own sliding table. Somehow, Amazon only has the picture of the 62" version and use it for other two sizes, it actually has only two legs instead of three. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS DEHYDRATOR!!
I bought this top of the line dehydrator for $200US. It did not come with the temperature control knob. I called the manufacturer and spoke to the secretary. She put me on the line with the "owner". He told me that I had misplaced it in the packaging. I checked the packaging thoroughly. I told him that and even shook the packaging up to the phone so he would know I wasn't making it up. He told me to "check it three more times" and then to call. What a scoundrel!! The dehydrator seems to work as advertised but we adjust the temp with pliers. $200? NO! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good product with some caveats.
The Merlin splitter, in most ways, is a tremendous improvement over the POS that the factory provides. Setup is not all that difficult. And it is so easy to take on and off the saw! I am much more likely to use the Merlin splitter than I was the factory unit.

The anti-kickback pawls are not as effective as the factory splitter. The spring is much weaker and the pawls don't engage as vigorously. I can often slide a piece backward out from under the pawls (After the blade has stopped!).

The receiver (The part under the throat plate that the splitter plugs in to.) for the splitter interferes with the throat plate when you tilt the saw blade. At 45 the rear of my throat plate was raised about 1/4 inch above the table. I emailed Excalibur asking for help. They advised me to grind away the webbing on the underside of the throat plate to provide clearence. I did so, and it works fine. But I would have preferred a solution that didn't require me to carve away on my throat plate.

4-0 out of 5 stars Well built and effective
The MTK130 apparently will fit even veteran Delta Contractor's saws. I wanted to be sure it would go on my 15 year old unit so I emailed Excalibur to check (they did not respond). I took a chance and ordered anyway and it installed flawlessly in minutes. The instructions were really not required since the replacement parts lined up perfectly with the existing bolt holes. A minor problem did occur in that the included washers did not fit the button head bolts supplied with the installation parts. A bit if filing solved the problem but was an unnecessary waste of time. Aligning the unit was also straightforward and easily done. Contrary to another review posted here the splitter is quite compatible with the thin kerf blades in common use (Forrest, Freud, etc). Overall this is a well built, easy to install unit.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this spreader
Simple to install, simple to take off.Inexpensive kick-back insurance - much cheaper than the deductible from a single ER visit.Wish I would have ordered this the same day I ordered the Unisaw.

You'll have to do a bit of cutting on your zero clearance inserts, particularly if mitering. But that's easy and the added safety is well worth a few minutes on the band saw.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Safe Start
I decided to install this after I realized that half the time my Delta contractor saw (a new X5) was a dado saw and the other half ripping and crosscutting. The end result was that I was getting very lazy about putting the blade guard back on, which is asking for trouble. The Merlin was the first part of my solution; the second was an overhead guard (more about that in another review).

The first thing I found on reading the instructions was that they were singularly unfriendly. They had been written generically. This problem was resolved by careful study of how my existing guard was mounted and some thoughtful pondering of the new parts.Eventually I got the idea and started in.

Once understood, the task is pretty easy. You replace the internal splitter mount with a new, snap in style and then replace the entire back guard mount. Then you slide the Merlin into the rear post and snap it into the internal mount. Now you have t adjust it, and that's a matter of how lucky you are or how much patience you have - whichever comes first.

I'm not lucky, so there followed about 20 minutes of making a trial cut, removing the blade and adjusting the inner mount and, maybe the outer one as well, putting it all back together and trying again.Repeat until happy.Once it's working it performs quite well. One the new overhead blade guard arrives I will have a saw that is almost as customized as my Jeep.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poorly Engineered
This is a great product idea--if it could only work.

I attempted to install this product on a Delta Unisaw.Excaliber first sent me the wrong product. I wish I just got my money back then and there.

When they sent the right product, the engineering of the product is such that when one tilts the saw blade (beveling), the unit rises up and strikes the back of the table saw blade insert, making use of the saw impossible, of course.

Of course neither the product description nor the ads say nothing of this huge defect, and claims the product works on a Delta Unisaw, but of course it doesn't.Technical Service recommends that you take your table saw insert and saw away the metal ribs.Yeah right.Like I am going to take it to a machine shop and spend another $50-100 to have my insert modified.I suppose with a stopped drill bit or router, one could perform this exercise on a "zero clearance" insert easier, but this is nothing I want to fool with.

I'd tell Excaliber, rather than me re-engineering my saw, why don't you re-engineer your product? This splitter sucks. Don't waste your money. ... Read more

The light is shaken for about 30 seconds to recharge a capacitor and it will then provide about 5 minutes of light. As the light is shaken, a magnet passes through a metal coil generating electricity. During prolonged use it can be shaken for 10-15 seconds every 2 or 3 minutes. The light requires no maintenance so it can be left in your home or car for a longtime but will still be ready to produce light. The bright LED will last for thousands of hours and does not burn-out like a typical lightbulb - it should never need replacement. Great features of the Forever Flashlight: ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Dust Collecting Blade Cover that works
I did a lot of research about available dust Collecting Blade covers for my Delta UniSaw I was going to purchase. The choices were Bret Guard, Biesmeier, and Excalibur. Delta's Blade cover was naturally excluded because it did not offer connection of dust collection hose. I did not choose Bret Guard that was toss up with Excalibur because potential interruption with Splitter. I chose Excalibur after extensive comparison of every features and reviews. I chose it not just because it had better customers' reviews than others but more of the collection system design. Other blade guards' design must have a hose strapped along the boom while Excalibur has the boom/pipe itself works as dust collection hose. Since it is around potentially dangerous operation, I wanted something more dangling-free environment. Bret Guard does not seem to have enough hood size to be effective staying afloat above materials to be cut. Just like every other reviewers mentioned, the manual was not well written at all. After installation, I observed one area that makes the most boom movement is at the square base holder that is held by convenient one handle screw with spring held pressure plate. Although some boom movement seems unavoidable since it is so long and held by just one column, a little tighter holder for the column is welcome. I do not mind tightneing two screws because It wont be so often to remove whole column. Also in my case, it uses Biesmeier Extension table's wood frame as mount base. It seems to be just working O.K and not confidence inspiring. The wood frame is just too thin and light in proportion to the weight of Excalibur. How about metal plate for reinforcement? What makes this product and the company seem so "after market add-on" is in addition to the poor manual, especially two diagonal support struts. They work only as tensioning rather than rigid structure. As the heavy weight of Excalibur arm pulls down, the tensioning work to counter force. But if they are made of more rigid material, small bounce like boom movement will be less, I think. So, only the weakness of this product is bottom half that is about attachment to the table saw. I have no complaint with top half. I have no problem with the factory specific mount dimension not like other users complained. I cut a half of top and also rear of OEM bade cover splitter with Sawzall and fine shaped with grinder/files. It works as excellent splitter and stays well within the size of blade cover. If you need plawls, you may want to invest that amount of money for expensive removable splitter but plawls get in the way too often. As I researched through a lot of usersĀf info it attracted my attention that the most Kickbacks are caused by not having splitter, not that the lack of plawls. Plawls work only after the material gets caught by blade and when you have splitter most of it can be avoided. So I am living with the factory specific placement of main column without any problem and I did not spend $130 for the Splitter/Plawls. I am using one hose from dust collector to Excalibur and another to the Unisaw's casing with a blast gate in between so that I can concentrate more vacuum for the Excalibur but I open the blast gate when the enclosure of Unisaw gets too much junks accumulated. This whole system works so well now and my workshop stays dustless! By the way you can run 4" hose along and just below the back rail and the blast gate before Tee that connects another 4" hose to the pipe of Excalibur. I installed Bench Dog router table to the left side of UniSaw with the hose goes into the system with a blast gate in between. Whole thing is so streamlined and moves as one unit like a dream! Speaking of the screw handle, do not worry about durability. Despite of fragile looks, it is quite strong. The same screw handle is used for Keiser Indoor Cycles at Fitness LA health Club every day for the handle height adjustment more than one thousand times a year and I have never seen one broken! (I am Spinning Instructor too)

Over all, I am happy with the purchase despite the product has a room for improvement.

4-0 out of 5 stars A must for safety, but could use some tweaking
Given the choices out there, it was a fairly easy decision to get the Excalibur overarm cover. I'm glad I have it, and in combination with a snap-in antikickback splitter, significantly enhances the safety of the table saw.

There is room for improvement:
1) The manual, like those for other Excalibur products, is barely adequate. C'mon guys, you charge a lot for your stuff, put some money into a better manual (look at a Delta manual for inspiration).
2) The instructions as to placement on the side of your saw table are just plain wrong. After a couple of tries, I figured out to push the device all the way back to the back edge of the saw table. The manual should be corrected.
3) The support struts were way too long - I had to cut them down and redrill them to make them fit. And they only do a so-so job of holding the heavy arm in place.
4) The support leg is constantly kicking out when I move the blade cover. My fix was to attach the Excalibur's leg to the leg of my saw table with some strapping - inelegant but effective.
5) The overarm cover is well made and very heavy. It is almost impossible to keep the arm level, but in practice this is not a problem.

The device is effective, and I'm glad I have it. I would like to see some other manufacturers (besides Bessemeyer) jump into this market - a little competition might result in an even better product.

4-0 out of 5 stars It is the best option available
This is a very heavy duty item, overkill perhaps for some small shops like mine, but it will probably outlast the saw. Two things to look out for: first, as another reviewer pointed out, the distance in from the edge of the extension table is a lot less that that recommended (by subtracting 2 inches from the measurement between arbor and table), more like 1 3/4 inches. I had to completely remount the upper asembly twice to avoid having the blade cover come down right on top of the after-market biesemeyer splitter/anti-kickback device. Second, I had to mount a hardwood board on the end of my extension table in order to receive the flange of the upper column assembly, as the table was only 3/4" thick and not with enough mass to take a big enough lag bolt (the nut and bolt assembly sent with the piece would not work). The dust collection system seems to work extremely well, although some small amount of sawdust will always escape through the front of the cover,as it must ride a bit above the saw table while material is passing through the saw. As is the case with the splitter mentioned above, the cost of which was railed by another viewer, the price for this item also seems out of line, but I paid, and so must have a lot of others.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best option available
The shipping container is not adequate and mine arrived with a few scratches on the boom. Like the other reviewer, my plastic bushing (which seals and separates the inner from the outer tubes of the boom) also arrived broken and I had to call for a replacement. The replacement is identical to the original and also seems much too brittle so it will probably break too. I was not shorted any parts and the instructions are mediocre.

Installing it onto my Powermatic saw with a moveable base was a breeze. I wish I had mounted it about an inch further back than what the instructions recommended because it barely clears my splitter. I also have a router table built into the table saw's extension table and the boom, the support pole, and the hose to my dust collector tend to get in the way. Although it can be quickly removed with a lever it is also a bit heavy and awkward. This is not a design flaw, just something to keep in mind.

The telescoping boom is one of my favorite features and is a great place to hang your hearing protection when not needed. The outer tube of the boom is made for a 4-inch dust collection hose and the inner tube drops the diameter down to 3 inches. It works very well at removing the majority of the dust that would otherwise have been all over my face, shirt, and pants. Also, the 3-inch hose included is a good quality wire-reinforced hose however mine arrived solid black and not the yellow and black colors pictured.

The guard head is counterbalanced so raising and lowering it is easy. However the lever designed to apply tension to it (and keep it from moving) is small and difficult to tighten. It also feels like it may break one of these days.

Bottom line:

When it comes to bladeguards you have very few options:
1. Live with the bladeguard that came with your saw.
2. Throw your bladeguard in the trash and do without.
3. Use an overarm bladeguard like this one.

I highly recommend option #3. I am really enjoying the clear view of the blade, the safety and the convenience of this device. If you can afford the premium then this one is worth it. I hope the manufacture will improve on the few shortcomings and make this one perfect. I also hope they will lower the price a little so that woodworkers will stop tossing their OEM bladeguards into the trash and doing without any protection.

5-0 out of 5 stars Overarm blade cover
Best upgrade I have ever bought. No more fine dust spewing onto my stomach on every cut.Very safe.I also bought a snap on antikickback spreader, another worthwhile investment, to replace the horrendous spreader/cover which came with my delta tablesaw. The downside is the price but worth every penny. It was easy to assemble but the plastic bushing was cracked when it arrived. The manufacturer was great and sent me a free replacement following my phonecall to them.I deliberated over this purchase for a long time.Looking back,I should have bought it on day 1.Dont forget to get the snap on spreader. It works v well and efficient too. ...
