4-0 out of 5 stars Great Value, But.........
This item originally arrived badly damaged - no protective packing material in the carton at all, so I initiated a return.
The same day I spotted the same machine at Costco with a Honda engine, which I prefer. I bought it, and even though the Honda is 5hp, it has a slightly higher psi rating.
Amazon was quick to answer my email, and even called immediatly, but it took over a month to credit my debit card!
ANYWAY, the washer works great, the nozzle quick connects are a nice feature, and it has enough power for anything I've tried around the house so far.

3-0 out of 5 stars Priced Right
The delivered price was fair and the job performance was as hoped for.

If I were to expect more I would begin with an engine that isn't so tricky to get up to speed... After the third or fourth short run it will then crank and run nearly flawlessly. This was also spoken of by a earlier rater. The flaw I speak of may be an isolated case: a tad bit of tweaking appears necessary to eliminate the intermittent power stall.... These Tecumseh engines are not my favorites; but, a Honda engine would jack the price up considerably. I've had numerous Briggs and Stratton driven devices over the years with great reliability; while this is my second Tecumseh engine driven piece of equipment. My big wheel mower also has a Tecumseh and it too is a bit tricky to get started; but once it is, it is a smooth running engine. And there in may the benefit of the Tecumseh; as opposed to a B&S. Variations in the power output of the engine, even minor, will directly effect the PSI output of the pump. Once I get the intermittent power drop situation resolved I may be much more appreciative of the Tecumseh.

The fuel tank is too small. During the process of cleaning a long neglected 12x16 deck I had to refill the tank a half dozen times. It's not a wise idea to store any gas powered equipment for an extended period of time with a tank full; so, it can be a benefit to run out of fuel in a relatively short period of time.

The Karcher wand with integral pressure adjustment has it's benefits over those type units that require removing and replacing different nozzles for different jobs. Although, there are basically two choices with the Karcher: Very low pressure for detergent application and full high pressure. There are no variations in the pattern width of the Karcher wand. Other manufacturers seem to rely on the various nozzles with varying widths for changing output pressures. The adjustments from detergent to full blast are immediate with the twist of the grip of Karcher wand. I like it.

I could nit pick this and that, as if I haven't already, but the bottom line is: It was a good value buy and the power output matches my numerous home needs. It's rather compact for easy storage and not nearly as heavy as some that are comparable....

1-0 out of 5 stars High pressure hose connection
I own a Karcher 3000 G pressure washer. One of the big concerns I recommend customers check prior to purchasing any pressure washer is the method used for connecting the High Pressure hose to the Pump discharge. On my Karcher 3000 G this connection is very POOR. I can not get a tight fit even after having the repair shop (recommended by Karcher) look at it. This loose fit, causes the high pressure water to leak at the joint and you can not get the full high pressure effect.

4-0 out of 5 stars Germans are good Engineers but Marketers they are not!
I bought a Kärcher Pressure Washer (PW) because I believe the pump on their 2300 psi unit was better and the unit was cheaper than other manufacturers 2300 psi PW's. Strengths: The unit cleaned 4500 sq. ft. (vinyl siding, wood deck/railings, concrete patio /porch /walkways /driveway) with expected favorable results. The unit started easily each time. The variable pressure spray wand was convenient to use, but, I wonder if a wand with interchangeable quick disconnect nozzles would have allowed me to do the job faster? Weaknesses: When using my 5 gallon gasoline container with its standard pouring nozzle you have to unscrew and remove the handle to pour gas into the unit when the container is ¼ - ¾ full. The documentation is marginal - it does not have a bill of materials nor replacement part numbers, it does not list acceptable accessories for this model and neither does their web site. Ratings - performance 4 Plus, documentation 2.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of power
This pressure washer works great and has plenty of power. I'm impressed. There is no choke, though and it's unusual to start. Not hard to start, just unusual. It starts right up, then dies. Do that about 2 or 3 times and then it stays running. I've used it for extended periods of time and so far I've had no problems. Plus it looks cool. My friend's kid says it looks like a race car. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Good for a thousand uses
In the words of Tim "Tool Time" Taylor, "you can't have enough power!" I like this equipment alot. The six color coded quick release nozzles accomendate any job. I use it (water only) to clean my Trek deck, outdoor furniture and to make my stockade fence and wood shed look new again. It saved us days of labor when getting old paint off a cedar shingles prior to preparing for new paint. This item is POWERFULL. If not used correctly, it'll tear the shingles (or siding) right off the house. There is also a in-flow regulator to adjust for inconsistant water supply. The hose reel and handle are easily removed to allow this equipment to be transported upright inside a compact SUV. Auto shutoff on low oil. Large gas tank. An EXCELLENT tool.

1-0 out of 5 stars Karcher Pressure Washer
This is an addendum to the review I wrote on 5/9/2003. I disassembled the hose reel to attempt to see why it was leaking so vigorously (and has leaked since the day it came home). The way the pressurized water or chemical is transferred to the reel involves a couple of ten cent O-rings on either side of a manifold and these were dried out and brittle. ...
Should you purchase this product anticipate that parts may or may not be a problem for you as they have been for me.

4-0 out of 5 stars Karcher Pressure Washer
It must be stated that the usefulness of the product is pretty limited. It is one of those products for which there is not a good substitute when you need one- it is simply that there are rather few uses for the product in the average home.
The unit does do a fine job for the uses for which it is intended. I have had three problems with it. One is that one of the tires leaks air and despite taking the tube out and trying to find the leak, I have been unable to do so. Another, more serious problem has been that the device where the pressure hose connects to the hose reel leaks and leaks badly. It is a nuisance that whenever I use the unit, I have to wipe the unit down with a towel as it is doused with water during use. Finally, the nozzle is a dual use affair that is supposed to have either a fine intense spray or a broader, less intense spray. You select the pattern you want by releasing and retriggering the hose. I have found that the nozzle will not switch between the two patterns reliably and you have to retrigger it repeatedly to get it to switch between the two patterns. They use a superb engine which has been troublefree. The pump has been troublefree as well. I enjoy having it and using it. I just wish that the aforementioned problems were not part of the package.

1-0 out of 5 stars G2400HH by Karcher - may not be new.
I received my first unit with some gas in the tank, some oil all over the inside of the box and a bad feeling that this was someones elses return. The replacement came the same way! I received a nice E Mail that the units are tested before shipping, this may be true, but if so they are also assembling the handles and then taking them apart as well. MIght be OK for a reconditioned unit, but I have yet to receive a new one.

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible Product
This is the worst tool I have ever purchased -- Period. Customer service from Karcher is terrible, but at least the authorized service center has been helpful. Should you even be visiting a service center for a product used only twice?

You are led to believe this pressure washer carries a two year warranty; however, the pump is only warrantied for 90 days...and the pump is the sole source of problems you will likely encounter. Bottom line, I think I'll take the Honda engine off and make my son a go-cart with it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disaster
The only good thing I have to say is that the unit arrived on the expected date, other than that, it's been terrible, first the top scews in the handle would'nt line up, had to screw in the top screws crooked, then after following all proper procedures for running, the unit just would'nt start, it has no primer button either, figuring it was new, I persisted on, I finally got it to start, then it would'nt stay started, and had no pressure, now the nightmare begins, amazon won't take it back, an oil and gas issue, had to call the manufacturer, was told he could'nt take it back either, they gave me the closest service center, folks, this is'nt a craftsman so be prepared for a drive, fortunately they we're polite and professional and offer to fix or replace the unit, 110 mile round trip into Houston at rush hour, should have bought a Craftsman.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Value
The tecumseh engine is only a minor draw back. The pressure adjustment by means of the rotating wand is very handy; although spray width is not adjustable. The tank is a tad small but works out as a benefit. Fuel shouldn't be stored for extended periods in the tank so let it quit for lack of gas. This all may sound negative but for general home use this unit is a good value with shipping included. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great once you get it going
We just received our Karcher...the box looked like it had been opened and re-taped shut. There wasn't an owner's manual for the pressure washer...only for the engine. There weren't any nozzles (renders the thing useless). I called Karcher and they immediately sent the missing parts (by pony express, they arrived 10 days later).

Neither the owners manual NOR the engine manual match the actual engine. There are 2 places to add oil (use the grey with the dip stick, it is easier). The choke is the push/pull wire lever on the OHV side of the engine.

Now that the ugly stuff is out of the way, once you have loaded the oil and the gas, set the choke, throttle, etc. just pull the cord and let her rip. This has to be the easiest starting recoil engine that I have ever used (I am a female, 5'2"). One pull and she goes. The pressure is excellent and adjustable.

I added a quick connect for the supply water hose as I found that I was losing the skin on my knuckle otherwise.

If all of the parts had arrived together, the machine wasn't scuffed up, and the manuals actually matched the machine I would have rated this a 5.

4-0 out of 5 stars Impressive Piece of Machinery
I purchased this washer for ~$500. It arrived approximately one week after placing the order.

This is a well-engineered product. It assembled quite easily. It starts easily (every time on the first pull if you follow directions). The engine is surprisingly quiet for 6 1/2 hp. The unit rolls easily on large pneumatic tires, the spray tips change easily, and it has one powerful spray! It can easily strip oil stain off cedar shake shingles, blast deep-rooted grass and weeds out of cracks in asphalt, strip paint, and remove moss, stains and mold from asbestos shingles. The cleaning speed and effectiveness compares favorably with industrial units I have rented. This is more than your average homeowner pressure washer.

Now the minor gripes:

- The unit came in a large box with no packing material; the box looked like it had been opened and taped/stapled shut. The box was partially crushed and some of the yellow paint had warn off onto the cardboard due to rubbing during shipping. Fortunately there was no damage to the unit other than a little missing paint.

- The 30' high-pressure hose is fairly stiff and doesn't coil easily. The addition of some twist couplings at each end would be welcome. In practical applications, 30' is usually long enough, although it seems you could always use a few more feet.

- There are two oil fill openings on the engine. It is unclear which opening should be filled until almost overflowing, as directed in the instructions (it's the lower one -- be sure to find both before filling).

- Engine controls are straightforward once you get used to them, but poorly marked. The correct choke, throttle, on/off switch, and fuel valve positions need to be memorized, because, at best, you are provided with very small symbols or letters stamped, in black, into a black surface. Nevertheless, the engine performance is impressive.

- Directions are adequate provided you read carefully. In an instance or two, it seems like they were written for an earlier model; engine controls are not quite as described in the instructions.

As I said, these gripes are minor compared to the quality and power of this unit. As of this writing, I have used it 3 times for a total of about 90 minutes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Power Washer
Engine started one the first pull.
Easy to put together and runs quietly.
More power that I will ever need!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Like Thunder in Your Hands
I purchased this washer for purposes of cleaning my vehicles, BBQ grill grate, driveway, patio, vinyl eaves on my home, and to clean lawn care equipment. I previouly owned a Troy Built Tiller that was equipped with a Kohler engine. My experience with the Kohler engine was very positive. Therefore, I felt very comfortable purchasing this unit.

The washer arrived in good condition and assembly is very simple and quick. I'm not that mechanically inclined and, if you are of similar experience, perhaps you may benefit from my mistakes. The handle slides into the frame and must be secured with hand-tightened locking nuts. Pay careful attention to the holes where the hose storage rack will be attached to the handle. Make sure the handle is inserted such that the hose storage rack will be located on the same side of the washer as the water input/output ports. I assembled the handle and hose storage rack only to discover that the hose would have to pass behind the engine to be connected. Thus, I disassembled the handle and flipped it over to ensure this wasn't required.

There are two manuals - one for the washer and one for engine. I must admit, I was confused by the instructions regarding oil. There is more than one oil fill port. I believe that one is for the pump itself and a separate one for the engine. The assembly instructions said to check the oil level and ensure that it touches the bottom of the dip stick. I did so and it appeared to be OK. I wondered why Karcher would ship a pint of oil with the unit if the oil level was already satisfactory. Had I read the instructions for the engine before trying to operate the unit, I would have avoided the self-inflicted frustration (men are reknown for bypassing the instructions). Well, I tried cranking the engine and it didn't even begin to "turn over". I was convinced I had a defective unit until I read the manual for the engine and found that the low oil sensor (there is a small red lamp on the rear of the unit that indicates when the oil is low) will not allow the engine to crank if the the oil level is insufficient. I found the oil fill port for the engine and added the oil supplied by Karcher with the washer. WA LA!! The Kohler started with the first pull leaving me feeling both relieved and like a complete dummy.

The washer comes with a high pressure output hose, wand, and color-coded nozzles. Attaching the different nozzles to the wand is far easier and quicker than I expected. There is a slip collar on the end of the wand. Simply pull the collar to the rear, insert the nozzle, and slide the collar back into place. The black nozzle is for applying detergent. The remaining nozzles - white through red - are for varying degrees of output stream intensity: white for a wide stream and red for the most concentrated stream. I would use no higher than the green nozzle for cleaning autos or other similarly finished surfaces as the more direct streams may actually peel paint.

When I engaged the pump, I discoved that I had thunder in my hands. This baby rocks! So you better ensure that you have a good grip. I have only used it thus far to clean my autos but, boy, does it do a great job. Those hard-to-clean squashed insects on the front bumper and hood? No problem! I was further surprised at how simple it is to clean those hard-to-clean wheels. Brake dust and road grime melt away.

I also purchased the Porter Cable Random Orbital Polisher from Amazon (see my review for that product). I now have the perfect combo for ensuring my cars always keep that new car look. I expect this washer will be equally as beneficial for those other outside cleaning chores I have around the house. In summary, I am extremely pleased with this purchase and with the results I have achieved.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Product
I just used this washer for the first time this weekend. It will clean the dirt off anything-- from farm tractors to sidewalks. It does a great job on all concrete surface. The KOHLER Engine started with the first pull after filling it with Gasoline and Oil. This is a great choice for a home washer ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Nozzles
I've used the Karcher 2400 now for over one month and it is a dependable machine. The 5.0 Honda engine runs and works like a charm, and I do agree with a previous review that putting oil in and changing it is a pain. What I am having a problem with are the quick change nozzles. I am an owner of a hand car wash and I use the washer exclusively and often. The problem I am having is the nozzles are becomming clogged all too frequently. The are not being submerged in water in soap, it just seems after prolonged use, the pressure is not there. I know it is the nozzle because when it is removed and I squeeze the trigger on the wand, the pump activates and pushes the water out at pressure. The engine does not go through any undue labor, and when I adjust the choke with the nozzle on, the presszure comes back. I have to do this every time when I come off of the trigger. I am investigating as to if there is a better and more durable nozzle that I can get. If anyone knows, please let me know.

4-0 out of 5 stars An excellent pressure washer... for its price.
It's hard to find a really well made pressure washer at in this price range. I've found that a lot of the features that make a "great" pressure washer will only be found in commercial grade units costing [more]. The Karcher 2400HH, however, has a lot of features that make it a good performer for less [money].

1. Karcher makes its own pump unit with a brass case. Most of the other machines in this price range have a third party plastic pump unit.

2. An easy starting and extremely dependable Honda engine.

I don't have the same difficulty changing the oil that the two reviewers below did. Maybe Honda and/or Karcher have since changed the product design on my unit. The engine has TWO oil drain plugs, one on either side of the washer frame. Below one of those plugs the frame has a 3 inch square cut out through which you would drain the oil.

This machine has made simple work out of cleaning my 200 plus feet of driveway, three cars, a motorcycle, and an aircraft.

My only gripes are:

a storage rack or device that holds the hose and wand more securely when not in use would be helpful. Also, a place to store the detergent intake hose would be good.

The rack for storing the nozzle assortment does not hold the nozzles very securely. They vibrate loose pretty quickly.

4-0 out of 5 stars Karcher 2400HH
Just purchased the 2400hh at Costco. Tried it right away and was very impressed. No problems at start up or during use. I don't use pressure washers very often, but I can tell you that I have used a much more expensive Landa washer with a much higher hp rating and I could not tell much difference in performance. All the complaining about the oil fill is over-rated. I recommend this product, specially at this price point. Maintenance Supervisor in California.

5-0 out of 5 stars Some Design Problems now Fixed
After using the product for a number of weeks I am generally very satisfied with its performance. It appears that Karcher has addressed a number of the previous gripes. The tip holder now works great and the wand holder is not a problem. Adding oil is not a problem with the right funnel (your generic funnel won't work). I really like the 50' of hose, this feature with the accessories helped guide my decision. Honda engine runs flawlessly and is quieter than other Brigs or Techum engines. I don't know about the repairs available from a karcher service centers, however I was able to find several in my area by using Karchers web site. (In the event I need a repair) I was hesitant after reading the reviews about buying this but now I am glad I did.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best price excellent machine
I shopped Home Depot and BJ's comparing this washer with the Honda line Home Depot carries. For the price of $299. compared to $420. (Home depot model) you can not beat this machine. I ran it ALL day the first day I had it it works beautiful!! Plenty of power, and constant pressure. Spending another $ 100. for the "Home Depot" model would have been a waste! Good luck ...
