Very happy with this purchase!
My wife bought me this drill for my birthday and I've been very impressed with it. I've used it to drill large diameter holes and have also used it as a screw gun, it works extremely well in both areas. Everything on the drill seems well made, no small parts to break off. I especially like the 2 fingered trigger and egronomic grip for applying pressure to the bit.

I don't see how anyone could be disppointed with this tool.

Well Built & Great Price
I use Forstner bits for wood boring and this is the best hand drill I have ever used. The high torque and low RPM's are a great combination. If you plan to use wood boring bits with this drill, I recommend using the side grip to avoid injury if there is a kick-back, this drill has that much torque. If I lean on this drill with the full force of my 275 pounds it barely slows. It has handled everything I have thrown at it with no problems. The handle is very comfortable and uses a two finger trigger. The weight is well balanced for a heavy drill.

Well & Great Price

Optimist in Waiting
I am continually impressed with Hitachi tool performance, from the durable NR83a framing hammer to the variety of their smaller power tools like belt sanders and drills. The new recip-saw looks a bit like a fish, we fondly refer to it as "the big bass" when we're faced with a tough cutting job. We are waiting to see if this green machine can outdo anyother red or yellow rival.

I ordered this in August.....! Where the heck is it. In the past Hitachi has not let us down and the same is true for Amazon... so what's up...I've been patient, please find out what the hold up is. ... Read more

not great but pretty good
This thing is a T Rex.It will cut 1/4" steel with relative ease.Cutting does require some effort and like all abrasive saws eats blades but it does a good job and will give a straight cut that looks good and is easy to true up.The saw is heavy so I would not suggest using it in any but a horizontal cut.The blade is easy to change but the blade nut should be attached to the blade washer which would ease installation. ... It must be the frictionless piston
The specs say 15 Amps (at 115 Volts). That gives 15x115=1725 watts. Divide by 745.7 (the number of watts per horsepower, by definition) and the result is about 2.313 horsepower. Apparently this "3.5 horsepower" machine makes about 1.187 horsepower out of thin air. That'll be SO great for on-site use at reduced power if no electricity is available! Gotta get one today! ... A nice adjuster
This came with my Hiatchi M12V, which I got here at Amazon for a very reasonable price (Home Depot's price was $50 more!). I use this adjustment knob when the router is mounted in its table. I removed the plunge springs to keep them elastic. Although not a perfect system (raising all the way up takes a lot of rotations!), it definitely is better then trying to fight the springs with one hand and hold a square in the other!

Router table users beware.
I'm pleased with the ease the adjustment knob attached on my Hitachi M12V and with the way the knob allows fine adjustments. Use it with something like the General Tools 23 Aluminum Router Gauge or a drill bit (known diameter/height) to get the adjustments you want. However, if you are a bench top router table user be aware that this is one tall adjustment handle. You may have to set your table up on blocks or use it between to different benches to keep the adjustment handle from bottoming out.

Did not fit my Hitachi TR12
This product does not fit my router, although I was led to believe it would by the product description. It has no value to me.

It works....
I purchased at $44 and soon found out the punch plate is not included. It's a rip, and Hitachi should be forced to suck the pipe for trying to bleed more money from their own consumers. It's not a good way to build brand loyalty. Nevertheless they'll not get a punch plate sale from me I simply punched out the holes in my sheet paper with a small piece of aluminum tubing. The sander itself is a pretty good quality unit. Slightly heavier than my Skil but a bit more aggressive. The grip takes a bit to get used to, but seems normal to me now. My advise, checksimilar priced sanders and purchase one with a punch plate included.

Not bad
I recieved this sander with another order as a free gift. This is enough to generally give one pause. However I am pleasantly surprised. Sheet sanders I have used in the past and the old Makita that I have had for years are not the pinnacle of sander technology but this one is fairly smooth running and I found that the shoe plate supplied with my Makita fits this sander for punching holes in the paper. It has much less vibration than the old Makita and seems to work well. Time will tell. This is the first Hitachi product I have owned.

can't really use the sander out of the box
The sander looks like it is well built but the dust bag that is supplied with it is no good. The zipper will not stay ziped and I thought I could get it started the sew it at the start but it will open anywhere along the length of it after it is ziped. I agree with the previous review also that I should be able to punch the holes without spending $19 more.

Beware!
I received this sander as a free bonus for buying the new Hitachi router.Since I didn't really "need" it and it was basically free for me, I can't complain about the price I paid. However, if I were to pay the price listed here I would be pretty mad.Here's why:

Though the sander comes out of the box looking and feeling like a quality machine, I quickly noticed that the one sheet of sandpaper included was of the peel and stick variety (and italready had the dust-collection holes punched in it).I thought this was odd since this sander has the standard paper clamps so you can cut your own 1/4 sheets and attach them without sticky backing.Then it hit me.Though this sander is rated as having one of the most efficient dust collection systems on the market, dust collection only works if the holes are punched through the sandpaper, and the only way to do that effectively is with a sandpaper punch plate made for that particular sander.The kicker is that no such punch plate is included...it is listed as an accessory in the owner's manual.

So, armed with the part number I searched high and low on Amazon and everywhere else I could think of on the web and couldn't find the punch plate.I eventually called Hitachi who gave me an 800 number to call and order the plate.The price of the plate is over $11 and they want $8 more to ship it.For a flat piece of plastic with nibs on it!

After using the sander with the one included sheet of pre-punched sandpaper I can say that this little machine is well built and fairly agressive for a finish sander.It is comfortable in the hand, and has a quality feel to it.

In the end, I hate to bash this tool because of the punch plate issue, but how good is a sander with an excellent dust collection system that you cannot use unless you spend another $19 on a punchplate that should be included in the first place? ... Read more

Decent buy for the money
The c12fch is a nice saw and it can make up to 5 ¼" cutsvertically. I did have to hold the guard back to get it to cut this but nonetheless it cut it.The only thing so far I do not like about the saw is that you can not see the laser if you are cutting verically.The laser is underneath the blade instead of up at the top hence the blocking of the laser by the wood you are cutting.So if this is a big deal keep shopping if not... this model seems to be decent.If you need the digital readout for bevel cutting crown molding then go for the c12lch.It's a little more expensive but would be worth it for the accuracy. ... Eats Wood!
I looked at all the planers. I was going to buy a planer with AMPS being my first concern. With a 3.4 amp motor this planer did not fail once. I put this machine to work on rough cut white oak with the blades full bore, and I got tired before this Hitachi planer. My only wish is the shoe as in all planers in this class was 1 inch longer.
