4-0 out of 5 stars MUCH BETTER THAN THE "UNIVERSAL" BASE
I purchased this base at my local woodworkers store after trying one of the so called "Universal" mobile bases. No matter how I configured the universal base, I was not happy with the way it fit the machine base, I returned it and bought the OEM. The Jet mobile base is better constructed, heavier materials, and fits the saw base much better. I replaced the swivel wheel with one of Grizzly's locking casters of the same size, because their lock also locks the swivel feature. I drilled some holes in the base, and bolted the saw to the base. I don't know that this is needed, but it doesn't take much time and I believe in "suspenders and belt". The base moves the saw well and I have experienced no tipping or lateral movement when sawing. I generally just lock the swivel caster and have at it.
I was told at the woodworker store to make sure and mount it with the swivel caster to the rear of the machine (as in the picture on this page), and to slide the base of the saw as far forward in the mobile base as I could get it. This puts the table almost directly over the dual wheels and precludes tipping. I followed that advice and am pleased with the result.
They also told me that this was an improved model over last years, but didn't say how it was improved. I gave the base 4 stars instead of 5, because of the initial cost and the poor quality of the swivel caster. I am happy with the overall performance, fit and finish and would reccommend this base to anyone, over one of the cheaper "universal bases".

5-0 out of 5 stars Mooove !
Small or large shop, it is necessary to move things around.
HTC makes great products...the welding, the paint job, the hardware - all are of good quality, if assembled and tightened properly you should have no problem.
I was so satisfied with this Band Saw Mobile Base, I also purchased the HJTS-761-X (Style B1) for my Jet Contractors Table Saw. WOW! Now that was by far the best investment; my shop seems half again as large. Note: I would advise against purchasing ANY of the small (Style J) mobile bases for table saws (too unstable), even if you don't have a 30 or 52 inch extension buy the Style B1.

2-0 out of 5 stars Better than nothing
The rear wheels are cheap, fairly small and don't turn very well. The plastic knobs to lock the rear wheels are also cheap, a bit hard to turn, and will probably wear out soon. The front wheel's caster hardware is also flimsy and 2 of the 4 carriage bolts broke off during assembly while I was tightening them.

Keep in mind that this is a tricycle design. As such it teeters a little so be careful not to apply too much horizontal force. Also, the front wheel is a caster type roller and even though you can keep it from rolling, you can't prevent it from twisting.

This base is only worth half the price being asked for it and I recommend it only if you cannot find an alternative.

5-0 out of 5 stars Have a small shop, Get the wheels!!
I have a small garage shop and purchased this for my JET 14" bandsaw. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I can freely move the 200lb bandsaw around my shop very quickly and easily. Setup was a snap, and its durable. The only con is that to fully lock the wheels takes more than just a press of a button. Oh well, can't have it all.
Definitely a must-have for every tool in a small shop.

4-0 out of 5 stars Useful shop accessory
I have two HTC mobile bases. The HSJ-678 for the Jet JJ-6CSX 6" Jointer, and the HSJ-1413 for the Jet JWBS-14CS enclosed stand band saw.

Assembly of the bases is easy, taking only a few minutes. On one of my bases, the threads for the one of the lock bolts had not been tapped properly. Rather than returning it, I ended up (re-)tapping it myself.

The base is "locked" in place by hand-tightening a pair of bolts (with plastic knobs) which press against thin metal "brake shoes" which in turn press against the rear wheels. The brake shoes increase the surface area holding the wheels and prevent the bolts digging in and deforming them.

It is possible to move a machine with the wheels locked, but it takes a awful lot of force. A bit less than what's required if the tool was on solid ground, but probably more than what you'll use in normal operation.

Even though I ordered these mobile bases, I didn't think I'd ever move my tools around very much. But now that I can (move them), I find I'm doing so. This is allowing me to come up with the optimum layout for my shop. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Much better than any old tarp, any old day!
I used to use tarps in my old workshop, but they would hold moisture in, so I had to resort to keeping a layer of talcum powder on the surfaces of the tools to absorb some of the moisture away.

As I live in the South Jersey Pinelands, where it has been getting very humid lately, the moisture doesn't get trapped under the cover, but "breathes" right through, just like a top quality car cover, with the difference that it actually gets used regularly.

Oh, by the way, I still do the talcum powder thing, as it is an excellent non-staining lubricant for woodworking tools... better than light machine oil or waxes, both of which can stain the wood being machined.

5-0 out of 5 stars Protect your investment
Let's face it. The chance of any married guy getting a new machine because the old one is rusty or dusty is pretty slim. You've got to look after what you have. With that in mind, these covers do the job well! The jumbo easily covers my table saw with outfeed or my 16" bandsaw. The fabric is heavy yet flexible, so you can easily toss it right out like spreading a blanket across your bed. Each corner has a magnet sewn in, so you can fasten it to any ferrous metal surface and it'll stay put. Dust can be shaken right off outside, and the cover protected my Laguna BS from a recent roof leak. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars nice but...
I prefer to spend more money on mobile bases that fit specific machines. No assembly hassles and 1 piece solid construction.
If my wife let me have more time I'd just mig weld my own frames together, and use GOOD wheels.
That's my only complaint. That front locking wheel is one of the cheapest wheels for the purpose. This particular piece of equipment gets moved round in my shop alot. Locking and unlocking is erksome but I can live with it for awhile longer.
What I'm inclined to do is buy a better wheel and on my next mobile base purchase just get some better wheels to upgrade during the assembly process.

2-0 out of 5 stars Quite displeased
After spending nearly $100 for this base, I am quite disappointed. First, the axle bolts had fine threads and the base was coarse threaded. I had to strip the threads on the axle bolts to get the wheels on. The 'brake' system is a joke, as other reviewers have noted. The swivel caster hides under a tongue flange, making it impossible to lock "with your toe" as the manual suggests. I compare this to the Delta universal base under my table saw, which has a wonderful "step on - tap off" locking mechanism that is always readily available. As noted, even though this is sold specifically for the JJ6 jointer, it does not fit. Through bolting is required for real stability. If you only move your jointer to get to something behind it, you may be pleased. If, like me, you have to store your tools in a corner and roll them out and lock them down when needed, you won't be pleased. But, the jointer is a dream.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good but not perfect
I did not have the problem locking the base down the way the other reviewers did. But one must note that this base is not an exact fit for the Jet 6" jointer. The machine "swims" a couple of inches on the base, which can obviously be a problem when putting pressure on the tool. I solved this by drilling through the Jet flanges right through the base and bolting the unit to the base with short Hex bolts with washers and nuts. Now it's very solid.

4-0 out of 5 stars Well made, but.....
This is a strong, well fitted-out mobile base, with one exception - the knobs provided for locking the two wheels are inadequate to do the job! I had to replace them with two plastic star-shaped 1/4 X 20 knobs before I could exert sufficient pressure on the locking brakes to securely lock the base.

3-0 out of 5 stars Very solid,but.....
I have this base for my jointer and it is very fluid on movement, very well put together. The one and only problem is that it takes an unnessisarily immense amount of effort to lock the wheels ( i finally had to resort to a pair of huge channellocks-not a good idea for plastic knobs)The weight of the machine appearantly is the cause of this. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Poor Design
In my opinion this mobile base is poorly designed and would not support a 600 pound saw. There were no assembly instructions although it was fairly obvious how it went together. I would pass this one up.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good product
I bought this for a Unisaw that has an extended fence. The description is a little flaky but from the measurements, I suspected it would work and it does. The hardware quality could be improved, but the unit goes together easily and the overall quality is very good. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars NONE BETTER
I'VE USED THIS SUPPORT FOR OVER A YEAR NOW. IT'S STABLE, ADJUSTABLE AND SMOOTH. I USE IT WITH MY DRILL PRESS, BAND SAW AND MITRE SAW AS IN-FEED AND OUT-FEEL ROLLERS, I'VE EVEN USED IT TO SUPPORT 4'X 8' SHEETS BEFORE RIPPING ON MY TABLE SAW. THEY ARE PLENTY STRONG ENOUGH TO SUPPORT ANYTHING I NEED TO DO IN MY WOODWORKING SHOP. THEY ARE WELL BUILT AND EVEN FOLD FOR STORAGE WHEN NOT IN USE. AN INDISPENSABLE ITEM FOR SAFE WOODWORKING. TWO THUMBS UP!...

1-0 out of 5 stars Save your Money!
This gadget will work fine if you're drilling in something like thin baseboard molding, etc. or other light weight stuff. Any thing heavier than a 2x4 you can forget about decent support. You have to make an allowance on the height of your support to compensate for the swag you are going to get because of the weight. I wish I had bought a floor support stand instead.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great idea...but...
I've been using the HTC PM-128 Drill Press Support for a year or so and I think its a great idea. The problem I have with the PM-128 is its lack of rigidity and stability. I've never been able to use it for accurate drilling simply because it bends quite easily, especially when the arms are near full extension. Its difficult to get the rollers to be coplanar with the drill press table because the steel tubing twists and racks. I know, you are probably saying: for (Money) what do you expect? I agree, I got what I paid for. I wish HTC (whose mobile bases are top notch!) would come out with a PM-428 or something, costing about (Money) or so, using heavier tubing and a more robust clamping device for the drill press column. Conceptually the PM-128 is well thought out, with plenty of adjustments and a convenient storage tray, it just needs to be beefed up a little. If you purchase the PM-128 be advised that it is not suitable for long >5ft. or heavy pieces of material, in my humble opinion.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's about time!
we often wonder why we cannot think of these inovative designs before someone else does! SImplicity, durability, and reasonable cost this is what the common woodworker is looking for. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A very nice, sturdy table
This table was a pleasure to assemble. All of the holes lined up perfectly. The instructions were clear, and I had no parts left over. The template provided for drilling the leg bracket mounting holes in the table top lined up perfectly with the holes in the brackets. I cut the extra paper off the edges of the template so that I could line it up exactly with the table top when I marked the holes. Although I have not installed a shelf yet, the brackets appear to line up very well, and I do not forsee any trouble in doing it. I was really amazed to read other reviewers comments about the assembly problems which they had encountered. I had none. Maybe HTC has redesigned the table.

1-0 out of 5 stars HTC, what were you thinking?
Having purchased and assembled four HTC-2000 mobile bases (a well-engineered and well-executed product), I felt comfortable selecting the HBT 330 kit. I begin this review with my conclusion: while the HTC-2000 clearly got all the attention of HTC's A-list product developers, it seems this HBT 330 table drew the B-team, or possibly just a gaggle of interns.

Sadly, I had neglected to check the customer reviews here prior to placing my order.

Don't waste your time with the provided drilling template, because, due to the way the leg receivers are formed, only one of the four holes per corner piece will line up. Better to just place each one and mark.

You will struggle to assemble the legs to the receivers because, again, the holes aren't registered properly in the mating pieces. A 20-minute job becomes a 2-hour exercise in frustration not experienced since the 1950's, a time when ill-fitting stuff from southeast Asia was the norm. Compound angles seem to be a challenge to HTC's production operations.

You're invited to add a second shelf which you can mount to the frame provided by the cross members. Had the product development team been required to include said shelf in the kit, they might have recognized the problem with this: none of the corner miters are coplanar. I don't know if the forming brake operator had a bad day, or the brake needs truing up, or -- again -- the engineers put the holes in the wrong place. The result is, no shelf is gonna lay flat on that frame.

Had this been my first HTC product purchase, it would have also been my last. C'mon, HTC, we know you can do better. For a [low] street price, you should be able to afford a few engineering cycles to get this right. There are other stands on the market for less money that screw together better. Ridgid includes one for free with each surface planer they sell, and that stand goes together like this one only wishes it could.

4-0 out of 5 stars Space Maker
My workbench is small, and I have several benchtop tools (miter saw, router table, and drill press). So I routinely have to swap out the tool from on top of the bench, to the one I currently need to use. With the drill press weighing in at about 100lbs, there had to be a better solution. The HBT-330 is that solution. I've been able to permanently mount the drill press to the HBT-330, clearing my workbench of one tool. The stand itself is very sturdy with a think MDF top, and beefy metal legs with height adjusting feet for non-level floors (like mine).

If you have very limited shop space, the HBT-330 manual has instructions on how to create a "universal mounting" system for the stand. You can then use the one stand to host all of your tools. (But then your back to the heavy lifting!) Essentially you mount your tools to a piece of plywood, and then drill holes in the plywood pieces at a uniform distance that match the mounting holes in the HBT-330's MDF top that you made. The plywood allows you to have holes that match the individual mounting requirements of the individual tool, and still have the "universal" mount to the the stand.

I was surprised to find that I had to drill the holes for the legs to attach to the bench top (as mentioned in another review), but then I remembered, this is for people with TOOLS that can do that kind of stuff!

1-0 out of 5 stars Not as illustrated - assembly instructions incorrect
Stand illustrated is 20-inch high model, so top appears larger in proportion to height in the illustration than it really is. Note actual dimensions of top. Also top is not laminated butcher block as shown both in illustration and described in the user guide, but plain particle board. Purchaser must mark and drill top, but holes in corner brackets do not line up with markings on template.
