sturdy, easy to install, great way to increase storage area
The item is well built and attractive. I read the instructions 3 times before starting work, so I knew what I was doing before I started. It's best to have 2 people to install it, but one could manage. I bought six for my garage; they were on sale. Keep in mind that the max weight is 150 pounds for each unit. Also, the instructions warn you not to place more than 3 HyLoft units on any 2 studs/beams. They have a website that lists the instructions and the warranty. I'm glad I made this purchase.

Very good quality product!
I bought 3 of these, and after I checked out online, I had second thoughts and started to think about just building something like this on my own. But after it arrived and I installed one of them, that thought quickly left my mind.

The whole item was packaged very well. Each item was tied down and there wasn't any rattling (no nicks or scratches either). All of the screws, bolts, and nuts were in a plastic package all labled with the corresponding letters in the instructions. May not seem like a big deal, but it's really helpful and saves a lot of time compared to companies that just send a hundred misc. nuts and bolts in a plastic baggy and you have to sort them all out.

The quality of the parts were very good. There is a heavy coat of enamel paint that appears to be very scratc resistant- not so much for cosmetics, but for rust prevention in the long term. Nice long lag screws hold the brackets in place. For the 150 lbs capacity these have, the screws were overkill, but it really made me feel confident about the product and safety considerations given to the product. Everything lined up and fit as they were supposed to- nothing needed to be forced on.

Assembly wasn't too bad- about 30 minutes per unit if you have a couple of drill/drivers and the right tools. I think the lag screws that go into the joists are 1/4" x 3", so if you're screwing these things down by hand, it will take a lot longer with an adjustable wrench (espcially since you'll be working on a ladder up in the air). I used my drill driver with a 7/16 nut driver and that saved a ton of time.

The only reason that I give it a 4 star rating vs. a 5 star rating is because the instructions were mediocre and they use the same instructions for the big unit as they do for the small ones. On the instructions, the ones I had said to use nails that were included to install the brackets to the joists, but there were none, so I can only assume that these were for the larger model and weren't needed for this model.

Despite the cost of these, the quality and build makes it easily worth the money. These are sturdy and are very usefull to store those awkward items in your garage that can't be shelved or hung. I'd recommend these in a second!

This is what you want
I have a garage with a high ceiling and room for two cars, but little else. Storage space is a premium. I bought two of these HyLoft systems, installed them (5 hours it took), and now wish I'd have had them years ago.

The worst part for me was finding studs. I'm too cheap to buy a stud finder, don't really need one. So finding the middle of the studs was the most time-consuming part of the installation. A hassle.

There is a video that comes with these units, and you can pretty much know what to do after watching it.

If you think it will only take two hours to install, expect it to take longer than that, especially if you don't do this sort of thing for a living. But it's worth the time investment.

They look very neat once completed, and when my garage door is open, they even look nice from the street, looking in. They're the best thing to come along since garage door openers.

THESE ARE THE BEST!
I just recently gutted my garage and played my own version of Clean Sweep. Couldn't have done it without these. We installed 3 and it took several hours but WELL WORTH IT! Highly recommended, you'll be more than pleased!

Great Space Saver!!
I bought two of these and cannot believe how much they hold. It took my husband three hours to install with much of that time finding the first stud. Someone wrote a review about their unit only having two support beams, but each of mine has four as pictured. My huband said the instructions are easy to follow and the assembly is painless. I just love how nice they look and how much stuff I was able to pile on them.

Saving us money!
Why hasn't someone come up with this sooner. We bought four and installed them in about 3.5 hours. However, it would have been better if they came with the house like all of the other things like cabinets in the kitchen, closets in the rooms...HyLofts in the garage! These would have been a help durring the move in process but they will most certainly come in handy at Christmas time with all of that stuff but especially because I no longer have a monthly storage rental bill.

Installation is a piece of cake if you watch the video first since the written instructions are poorly written (as with most products). I recommend assembling the support arms before installing the ceiling brackets. This makes for fewer trips up an down the ladder and decreased my installation time significantly. Great product. ...
