Inexpensive...
...and cheap. I think this thing is square. The blade however, is NOT straight. It has a nice bow.
I don't care that the "stainless steel" is not stainless.
For the price, you get what you pay for.

450 8" SS Square Johnson Level & Tool Co.
Although the square is marked "STAINLESS", the metal rusts very badly. Johnson Level and Tool Co. replaced it after I returned the original one,postpaid, to them. The second one received is no better than the first. I would not purchase any tool from this manufacturer. As a mechanical engineer, I am aware that there are many alloys of stainless steels some of which will rust, but when the manufactured metal product is stamped "STAINLESS", the user does not expect it to rust. The manufacturer has misrepresented the quality of this product to the public.

Very Solid
I must say that i am very impressed with the quality of this tool. It is just as square as my much more expensive maple handle try square. It isn't as pretty but at the price i have no room to complain. This is the 3rd JL&T company tool and it shows that you can still get quality tools at an affordable price.

A-C-C-U-R-A-T-E
I had bought a standard drywall T Square at the local home center. Since the base is riveted onto the arm, I checked the square for trueness. I went through several to find one that was perfectly at a 90 degree angle. What I did not check was the accuracy of the measure. I have switched my wood working over to the "Incramental" system, (Incra TSIII-32 table saw fence- accurate to within .002", and the Incra measuring rules) that gives me a standard to judge my other rules by. The Home Center measure was off by an eighth of an inch. For drywall, that is close enough, but for finish ply it doesn't work.
So what does all of this have to do with the Johnson T-Square. Everything: Not only does the Johnson create a perfect 90 degree angle, even though you snap it into the indented groove. It also is dead on accurate for measuring. So feel free to use this for critical applications. The convenience of being able to fold it up into a single in line metal bar, makes it easy to store. Additionally, with the markings for 45 degrees etc, make it a snap for making custom cuts. You can also go over to a wall, set the T square to the angle of the wall, and easily then use it to mark your drywall.
This square is also much thicker metal (aluminum) than a typical square. All in all a 5 star piece of equipment. Highly recommended.

I wouldn't pass this one up! I've had my Johnson Adjustable Drywall T-Square for 10 years. I use it for drywall, plywood, and paneling. It saves time marking sheets and works great marking angles also. It folds up straight and fits nicely in my truck tool box or behind the seat. Great Level at a GREAT price!!!!
My husband was in need of a 96" level. I had done several searches on the web and found them to be VERY expensive! I found this one and ordered it. super size

Does what is says, but...
This is a handy little ruler but you can find the same thing for half the price (or less). Shop around.

Their isn't a lot you can say about a rule. If you buy the Incra Measuring rule, you will have a rule that all other rules can be checked by. Incra deals in a thousandth of an inch, in their rules, and their table saw fence. It has breought a whole new world into my wood working. Well after checking the Johnson rule against the Incra it is perfectly accurate.
You would be surprised to see just how far rules can be out. Tape measures have the floppy tab on the end, but some of them are totally accurate on a pulled measurement. The others I had, went in the trash. The fold out wooden rules were about 50 percent accurate. When it is off by an eighth of an inch, you can't make furniture with that, or even a shelf for that matter.
Johnson measures are great, and dead on accurate. I found the same reults with their drywall t-square, another great piece of equipment. I am into accuracy, that is first, and the Johnson equipment line has not let me down. Highly recommended.

Great for Setups
The screen printed scales on this are very accurate. The sliding clip helps when using it as a depth guage. The picture shows the clip mounted backwards from the way I use mine. It works great and any handyman would appreciate one as a gift, or as trimming on the wrapping of a power tool gift. It is a cheap way to show that you "measure up." ... Read more

It's worth it !
You can't beat the price of this stainless steel pocket clip rule. It's one of those things that's 'nice to have' because it's so handy and easy to use. Let's face it - for measuring small objects, it beats carrying a tape measure around in you pocket!

You get what you pay for
If you need a measurement, this tool might be good enough. If you need an approximate check for squareness, this tool might be good enough. However, if you demand any kind of accuracy, such as for woodworking, or tool set up, then you need to look beyond this particular item. Durability is also questionable, as the rule will flex or bend easily. About the only thing I have been able to use this square for is marking 2x4's to cut for framing....

Sorta straight and kinda square
I picked one of these up for woodworking and it's useless. After a few minutes it became apparent that it is not straight or square. Mine has about 1/16" bow over the 12 length. If accuracy is important, get a Starret. It will cost MUCH more, but it will be accurate. ... Read more
