5-0 out of 5 stars Excelent dot and line laser
Out of the box this little laser will create a dot or a line that is visiable for more distance than I can find a use for. (tested it at about 75 yards and worked quite well).

For the price you will probably find it hard to find a better laser line. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly surprised at the quality
This is a well made accessory for a laser torpedo level. It's solid and precise and equal in quality to a comparable transit head. The mounting mechanism is simply a screw adjusted side clamp which should accept any level up to 1 1/16 inch wide. The level adjuster is a circular vial bubble which is surprisingly easy to set level. The rotation is smooth and without play. If you don't have a standard transit tripod (which it is threaded for on the bottom) it is designed to set on any level surface. My only suggestions for improvement for the manufacturer would be to include a simple screw in adapter for a camera tripod and to include three small rubber pads on the bottom to facilitate setting it on a level surface. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Well worth th money
It is a valuable piece of equipment for transfering points from floor to ceiling. Battery can be purchased at Walmart in the camers section. I'm glad that I bought it.

4-0 out of 5 stars TIME SAVER
THIS PLUMB WORKS LIKE A CHARM. IT'S REALLY GREAT IF YOU ARE BY YOURSELF ( DO THE LAYOUT ON THE FLOOR, PLUMB UP THE CORNERS TO THE CEILING AND YOU'RE DONE) ALSO GREAT ON ANGLED CEILINGS. THE BATTERY CAN BE FOUND AT ANY DRUG STORE, HOME CENTER, OR CAMERA SHOP IT'S A COMMON CAMERA BATTERY. NICE FITTED CASE, THE ONLY COMPLAINT IS THE LACK OF AN ON/OFF SWITCH.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't make the mistake I did
Don't make the mistake I did, and buy this poorly designed and built - I wont even call it a tool. Where do I begin , first it is difficult to get the plumb bob on the stand, then you can't be sure it's in exactly the right position. The plumb bob is two piece . you take it appart to put the odd sized battery in,I have never seen a battery of that size,I don't know where you would get one like it. There is no switch to shut the laser off,the instructions say to un-thread the two sections of the plumb bob until the contacts pull away from the battery enough to cause the laser to go off. With the one I purchased the laser wouldn't go off until the two sections of the plumb bob were disconected. The beam seems very harsh on the eyes there are warnings all over it not to stare at the beam. The dot is very large even at 8 feet...Other issues, this item was insufficently described by Amazon, if it uses a out of standard battery , and has no switch those details should have been mentioned in the description.

4-0 out of 5 stars you have to try it
I am a General Contractor building residential homes. I received this tool from my sons as a Christmas present. My first thoughts was cute but a gadget. Well, it works! Not only for finish work but also for rough framing. We are currently framing a house with catheral ceilings and had to do all the interior wall up to the angled roof trusses. We would normally plumb these walls with a 6' level and a straight plumb stick. Used this tool, setting it on the floor on the snap lines and it shot the beam up to the truss to give us a level wall. Also used it to plumb a ridge beam using the same method. Put a 6' make on the floor and a 6' pencil mark on the bottom of the ridge. Pulled it in until it lined up and the gable end was plumb. Much easier than hanging to the outside with a 2x4 and a 4" level. Also quite accurate. Plumbing a 12' high wall it was within 1/8".
My advice, if you are a carpenter, buy it!
Howard Post, Saugerties, NY (I wanted to add a short note. As we finished the house mentioned above, the electrican had many recessed lighting fixtures high in the ceiling that had to be centered exactly over the countertops and other objects. The wires were put in the approximate area and buried under the sheetrock. As the counters were installed, we used the laser plumb bob to shoot an exact center mark on the ceiling then cut the hole through and mounted the fixture in the exact location. My electrican went right out and ordered one!) ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars May be useful for extending level, but inaccurate
I bought one of the lower models (the model just below this one, without the magnetic base) and the beam spreader as an inexpensive way to do level/plumb 'chalk' lines.

Well, the way this thing works is that you snap on the beam spreader/splitter attachment to the end where the laser exits. Surrounding the exit hole is a metal ring, and the attachments snap on magnetically (which is the same way you can store them in the level itself, if you look at the two holes on either side of the center vial)

For the beam spreader (the chalk line) there are two bubble vials fixed into the attachment perpendicular to each other, and it is those that you must level out for vertical/horizontal lines. However, I found that when I tried to do so, it was near impossible to get the line exactly level or plumb. This is due to the fact that rotating the spreader even the smallest bit will cause the ends of the chalk line to move several inches depending on distance to the target.

The bottom line is that it is impossible to trust that the line is level just based on a particular user's eye view of what the bubble vial says. I put the thing on a tripod, got the bubble vial as perfectly level as I could, and measured the resulting beam with another level. Not even close.

I may have had a bad beam spreader, but it's too expensive to guess and a waste of time if I have to check that the laser level is level! I recommend getting a cheaper torpedo laser level that just beams a dot for extending a level mark, and maybe one of CST's Gizmos. (I just got one and it is very cool, and the cross beams are dead on accurate)

My 2 cents.

5-0 out of 5 stars Work Alone with the CST/Berger Lasermark Magnum Package
Repair and renovation of my old house, built in 1924, includes inside and outside work. This work involves application of skills from all the building trades and landscaping. This level package has become my work partner or teammate. I did add to the package with the rotary adaptor, a tripod and the remaining beam splitter lens.

The "Lasermark Magnum" package and accessories have allowed me to work alone in laying out a rock wall patio that includes excavation of 20 cubic yards of dirt from the 10 feet by 40 feet area, raising the two feet stone wall, without a footing, to six feet, with a footing, and laying out the slope for a drainage system. The "Lasermark Magnum," with the beam spreader, has helped me determine the level of the structure's floors and to raise them as necessary and possible. The tool package has also allowed me to "shoot" a line for a cold water pipe from the basement to new patio area and to layout a replacement L-shaped basement stairway. I have also been able to use the moved dirt to regrade low areas of the yard with appropriate slope for drainage and appearance.

Previously, I would have required a builder's level package with a helper to hold a rod for the layouts and probably a string line and level for determing slopes. Looking at the red dot or the red lines is much easier and by my own early comparison with the mentioned tool options, much more accurate. While the red line or dot can be difficult to find, or follow, in bright sun or through shrubbery and grass it is much less difficult than I had anticipated.

While I have not yet used the tool to determine plumb, I would trust it's accuracy. Based on my needs, this tool package carries one of the best values to me as a helping hand. ... Read more

The base is V-grooved for foolproof work on conduits and pipe. CST/Berger offers accessories, too, with onboard storage. The 1/4-inch thread fits most camera tripods for hands-free work. 5-0 out of 5 stars laser torpedo level
bought it for my husband, he loved it said it was the top of the line!

3-0 out of 5 stars I am returning mine
I just bought one and will be returning it immediately. The main unit is okay and the vertical and horizontal bubble levels seem accurate (I did some rough verification). I was impressed that it was usable outside on a semi-cloudy day at well over 100 feet. But the main unit would not attach to either of my two photo tripods - the female screw hole is too deeply recessed into the underside groove to work. Also, the bubble sights are recessed so far that they are difficult to see at odd angles and in low light.

I was not at all impressed by the attachments. Mine came with the beam bender (reflects the beam 90 degrees) and beam spreader (creates a line). The BB was okay but the only thing that guarantees 90 degrees is the magnetic contact surface. Junk between the two surfaces could drastically alter the angle. I have nothing more than a guess to back this up but this attachment wasn't all that interesting to me anyway.

The BS I thought would be great. It has its own two bubble levels so that you can check the vertical or horizontal aspect of the projected line. Cool. But the problem is that it also attaches magnetically so getting it to be perfectly level is almost impossible -- you turn it and it wants to rotate back -- you turn it further and it either sticks too far or returns to not enough. I spent many minutes trying to get it vertical -- when it finally appeared to be verical, I used a another (very accurate) level to check the projected line -- it was about 1/4" off over 5 feet of vertical - that is simply not acceptable for anything more than rough work.

The angle dial (rotating bubble) is not very accurate at all. I set it to 90 degrees and found it way off from the built in 90 degree bubble. Same for 0 degrees. I take this to mean I cannot trust it for 45 degrees. And I was hoping for enough angle accuracy to do some rough site surveying and this clearly doesn't have that kind of accuracy....

Back to the store it goes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little gadget
My daughters gave me one for Father's Day. After playing with it in the house for a day or two I used it to help build another section of low brick wall around the patio. I'll never be a good brick mason, but that little laser level helped me keep this section within an 1/8 inch of level compared to a 1 inch mistake in the previous section. Plus it survived a 1/2 inch thunderstorm with no problem. ... Read more
