5-0 out of 5 stars Great kit
Even though I do mostly electrical, buying this kit was beneficial because it includes all but one bit that I needed, which I purchased separately. Extra center self feed bits are included to replace the primary ones if you should somehow break or wear one done. Although that hasn't happened to me yet. The case is great to keep the bits organized, clean, and most importantly dry.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Self Feeding Hole Saw Ever
I only have two of the Milwaukee Contractor's bits and I love them, I will buy this set soon. I use them for cutting the many holes required to run house electrical and plumbing. They are perfect for the hard to reach out of position holes that you can't push on a auger bit to cut through. They will eat their way though the center of a tree with a 3' extension.

Since they are self feeding they will not stop untill you let off the trigger and you need a reverse on the drillmotor to back them out of deep holes. Chips will back up and plug deep holes so use the reverse and clear out the chips on deep holes. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Anyone who has tried working with a Sawzall in cramped quarters and making cuts in confined spaces will appreciate the Hatchet's multiposition folding handle, which reduces the tool's length to a mere 13 inches. While this is a truly innovative design for a reciprocating saw, the fact that this is also the first cordless Sawzall with a vibration-reducing counterbalance mechanism should not be overlooked. This is a feature many of us have been waiting to see in the cordless Sawzall, and it is especially appreciated in uncomfortably close quarters, where any extra vibration and shock just makes your job more difficult. The Hatchet also has a different trigger configuration than other reciprocating saws. When the handle is folded, it feels like a cordless-drill grip and trigger, and when the saw is extended to its full length, it feels like the barrel grips found on grinders. This trigger setup is great when the handle is folded, but not as ideal when the tool is at its full length and being used like a traditional Sawzall. As with Milwaukee's other Sawzalls, this one features the excellent tool-free blade-changing system that reverses the blade when needed, and it has a fully adjustable pivoting shoe. The Hatchet's tough motor provides 2,700 strokes per minute, comparable to other top-of-the-line cordless reciprocating saws, and the tool uses the same reversible 18-volt Power Plus battery as other Milwaukee cordless tools. This kit comes with the Hatchet, a 2.4 amp-hour battery pack, a carrying case, a universal charger, and two blades. For remodelers, plumbers, and electricians, we think there's no better cordless reciprocating saw available. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The surgical sawzall
I have an 11 amp corded super sawzall and the Hatchet. For general demolition, the cordless Hatchet cannot compete with the corded sawzall, but there are some situations where the Hatchet excels.

Because it's battery powered, the cordless Hatchet has a much smoother operation (a bit like the difference between a cordless and corded drill). The ultra-smooth and controllable movement combined with the shorter stroke length makes it ideal for delicate situations like cutting around wires, copper pipe, and other stuff that I don't want to nick when remodeling. I also prefer the Hatchet over a corded sawzall for light demolition work like cutting into drywall. The Hatchet makes drywall installation and demolition really fun and easy.

Since it's cordless it's easy to move the Hatchet around, especially in rooms that don't have electrical service yet. It's also my tool of choice for headering off joists on remodel jobs. It can fit between joists that are spaced 16" O.C. and flush cut right through them with the blade facing up. A standard sawzall is too long to do this.

My only complaint with the cordless Hatchet is that it's really difficult to remove the battery (hence the 4 stars). I don't know if this is a design flaw that affects all 18V Milwaukee products or if my Hatchet is an isolated instance. It's a cinch to remove the battery from my 14.4V Milwaukee drill, though.

For serious use, you'll need at least 2-3 batteries and/or a corded sawzall. As a cordless tool, the Hatchet is great, but don't expect it to be able to handle tough situations.

UPDATE: I have since purchased other Milwaukee 18V tools and have noticed that their battery design has been updated. The battery that came with the Hatchet doesn't release well as I mentioned, but my three newer 18V batteries that I have work smoothly on the Hatchet. So I've increased my rating to 5 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Milwaukee 6514-21 18 Volt Sawzall, The Hatchet Kit
Well Milwaukee does it again, another fantastic cordless tool.
The hatchet offers both brute power ,versatility in a comact size. The pivoting design was a stroke of genuis, this unit has saved my butt on many difficult truck jobs cutting a rusted nut off, or studs cutting torn aluminum panels e.c.t..Its portablity and size makes it a killer unit for the on the spot tech.So far the hatchet has been trouble free, batterie has long life, Charger is fast and effetive.I would have liked to get two batteries with the kit but oh well, for the price it's a steal .The 18 volts is a great choice for this brute to. Even though it is big it is really quite well balanced and fits the hand nicely.Do yourself a favor and pick one up.It will make your jobs a lot easier.I think what I find most interesting about this saw is it's ability to fit almost anywhere and deliver the power needed to get the job done. That piviot is amazing.Plus the saw and charger are made in the USA.Which sadly I can say is not the case about Milwaukees's 14.4 volt 1/4 hex ipmact driver. Was not to happy to look at the drivers label and read made in Taiwan.

1-0 out of 5 stars try again
This Saw is the worst tool from Milwaukee that I have ever purchased! It has weak gears in it , as far as I could tell, and have stripped out on me three times so far. They fix it but it strips again eventualy. I will buy another corded sawzall by Millwaukee , those cannot be beat. As for cordless , I just don't know.

5-0 out of 5 stars Handy, handy saw
I liked the corded 11a orbital Sawzall so much I went out and bought the cordless Hatchet as well. It has proved to be a quality , useful, and very handy tool. The 18v Hatchet also has orbital action which increases it's usefulness, and it is lighter than the corded one. However, if you have major demo work to do, grab the corded Sawzall. The corded Sawzall can't be beat for big, difficult jobs, but this is the one to take when you have a few cuts to make or need to get into a tight space. The battery run time is actually quite good, but it you are in an attic or crawl space, you might want to take a spare battery just to make sure. It can be used one-handed, and the folding handle makes the saw very versatile. I actually find that I use it as much or more than the corded Sawzall, but I wouldn't want to be without the corded one either. Overall, I have been very happy with this quality tool.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy this!!
I bought this after agonizing over the Porter Cable combo kit - it was the right choice - the whole combo kit is great including the radio but this is the standout tool. The flexibility is the best thing - it has all the power you would expect but being able to fit into small spaces and awkward spots has been great. I have used the Dewalt and the PC Tiger cordless and would rate Dewalt at the bottom, PC in the middle and this way above the others. Enjoy!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars an awesome tool
This is a great tool, made well and packaged well. It is heavy and it is certainly not cheap, but it works, and works well.

I use it on my track car. Just jack up the car and zip-zip-zip-zip-zip the wheel is off. It has no clutch mechanism to limit the torque, but I use a "torque stick" to keep the torque at spec. With the torque stick, it's also zip-zip-zip-zip-zip and the wheel is back on.

I've changed all four wheels several times on a couple of cars, all off of a single charge on the battery. It almost seems like overkill that it comes with a spare.

It has a smart charger, so it charges fast but you can leave the battery on the charger if you like, to always keep one fresh.

The blown plastic case is also solid, with metal overcenter cam latches. I have no qualms about throwing it in the trunk with a bunch of other tools -- it will be safe and sound when I open it up again.

This tool is not cheap, and it is much heavier than an air wrench would be. It is also bulky -- don't expect to use it in tight quarters. But if you don't have an air compressor, or you have one but you need a portable tool, this is the one you want.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First thing I did with the #9079 after I charged the batteries
was tried to take a tire off my car, as Emeril would say "BAM"
it busted the lug nuts with ease, "BAM" it put em back on with ease.

I have owned this for about a year and it does everthing promised and more, when battery technology hits us in 2004
we will have better batteries for our 18v tools and then look out this thing will go all day.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST TOOL I OWN!!!!!!!!!!
Best thing I can say is it works and works and keeps on working!
I have had my Milwaukee 18-volt 1/2 inch impact wrench for about a year and a half, I have used it to change tires to rotate tires on up to 4 autos back to back on one battery 1/2 ton & 3/4 ton it allways works!

5-0 out of 5 stars Milwaukee 9079-22 18-Volt 1/2" Impact Wrench Kit
What can I say but it is a monster, I have taken off semi truck tire lugs with it.It does it without complaint and has power to spare.Batteries are long lasting, construction of the Driver is top shelf great charger, quality impact carrying case.Milwaukee is offering a fantastic kit for the price.Mine has been trouble free and a joy to own.If you need a powerful impact driver to go the distance with go for this one you will not be sorry.Plus it is made in the USA .Also consider the 1/2" to 7/16' adapter as an add on.It opens up even more uses for this all ready amazing tool.

5-0 out of 5 stars NOT FOR THE 90LB WEAKLING!
Guys, This wrench is brute. It's a heavy duty tool that take a lot of muscle power to use. I use it to remove combine cylinder bolts while laying on my back. I go through two battery packs in about 1hour of heavy duty use. Pros are no air line to get in your way, no dust from air tools, uses the same batteries as the 18v drill and ease of trigger variability. Cons are weight, weight, weight, and tool can get hot after a lot of use. My brother tried to add torque to wheel lug bolts on the big trucks after I tighten them with the wrench...but he couldn't. That sold him and me!
P.S. Not a home improvement tool, a work horse! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars MilwaukeeQuality-Tops!
This was my first portable band saw and I could not have chosen a better one. Milwaukee quality screams out every time I use it. I also purchased the optional stand with it. It is expensive, but well worth the extra money. It ensures straight cuts every time. The only caution I would give is to not let the blade bind. If it does, it's usually toast. It will get a waver in it and will not cut right afterwards. Be sure to clamp the material down well. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

For day in, day out drilling and driving in wood, steel, or plastic, there might not be a better tool than Milwaukee's Magnum hole shooter. The aluminum/magnesium alloy on the gear case cuts down on the tool's weight, and the glass-reinforced nylon handle makes it a bit lighter, too--but let there be no doubt: when it comes to results, this is the same heavy-duty, ridiculously powerful, no-nonsense tool it's always been. The shooter is built with a stacked design--meaning the drill's interior parts stack on top of each other--which makes replacing parts (like a switch) much easier to do as the whole drill doesn't need to be taken apart. The handle is designed so you can hold it two ways--either pistol-grip or with the palm of your hand resting on the top back portion--making the drill an extension of your arm. As a result, you can really get behind it while still easily reaching the trigger with your fingers; the finger slots add comfort. The carbon brushes are easy to access and change. And this model comes with a convenient and reliable all-metal, two-sleeve keyless chuck.

If you're looking for a serious, long-lasting drill, you can't go wrong here. Milwaukee's hole shooter is a very high quality tool that will serve you for years and years and years. --Dori Anvinson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great drill! Typical high Milwaukee quality.
I recently purchased the Milwaukee 0233-20 3/8" Magnum drill. I had first purchased another brand which was on sale. I tried to save a few bucks, and as usual it came back and bit me.The other drill was a real dog. Absolute junk. I returned it, got my money back, and did what I should have done in the first place. I bought a Milwaukee. The Milwaukee gives me slow, smooth starts which is great for starting holes in very precise places. It also gives me the high speed I needed for drilling pocket holes with my Kreg jig. The Milwaukee drill is buttery smooth. Just like my other Milwaukee tools it's built solid, and it WORKS! Another case of "you get what you pay for." If you're in the market for a 3/8" variable speed drill don't waste your time...just buy the Milwaukee to begin with and you'll be happy plus by getting a high quality tool it'll be a long time (if ever) before you have to replace it. No, I don't work for Milwaukee or get paid by them. It's just my 2 cents worth of opinion.

5-0 out of 5 stars The last high speed drill you'll buy.
Using this drill is shear bliss! The balance, the comfortable grip, the genius power/speed ratio, the extreme durability, the butter-smooth operation... In other words, it's a typical Milwaukee tool. This drill is made for drilling fast holes and driving screws. It is not made for conrete, stone, thick tile, etc. drilling. Get Milwaukee's 1/2" hammerdrill for that with more power and less speed. It also is not for drywall screw driving. Get Milwaukee's drywall screw shooter for that with it's super speed and clutch. I have used it for those purposes as well, however, and it performed exceptionally considering it wasn't made for those purposes. I have even used it with 2 1/2" masonry hole saws.
Previous to this drill I owned a Craftsman. I burned it up quick rebuilding my home. I burned up several other craftsman tools as well. I bought this drill on some advice from a carpenter tradesman, and since using this drill have replaced my other wimpy craftsman tools with Milwaukee. You'll do the same after the first Milwaukee tool you use.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fine product. Support earns -1 star.
I was glad to receive this item one day early. It is the right size, weight, power, and price I was looking for in a Milwaukee drill. I noticed that a local HW store carries a lower model (4 amp) for $5 more than amazon.com, and this same model for significantly more $. I chose Milwaukee as they are known for their steel bearings as opposed plastic sleeves of some brands. And, why not buy American. I had trouble manipulating the keyless chuck at first, despite trying to twist it apart with rubber-jawed tools. I called the company, and after three menus and two people, I was referred to local service centers in cities far from me. I called one and they tried to be helpful but didn't have useful advice. Instead I consulted an officemate who suggested I grasp the collar with something like a strap wrench and run the drill at low speed; in this case, it needed to be running forward because the jaws were wide open. After overcoming a lot of resistance, the chuck loosened and I was in business. The keyless chuck can be much faster for changing bits, but the jury is still out on whether it has a strong enough grip for some jobs. I'll try degreasing the jaws and bit with brake cleaner or nail polish remover if I have any slippage. Also, a fraction of a star is lost for the plastic forward/reverse switch that flexes, feeling unsubstantial. I'd rate the product itself 4.6. I considered the much more expensive cordless ones, but I want maximum power on demand for infrequent use, and the rechargeable batteries both heavy and expensive.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Drill!
I have owned and used many drills but this is definitely the best 3/8" drill for the price I've ever used. It is constructed ike the more expensive Milwaukee Magnum drills that are industry standard in many trades. I am not necessarily a big fan of all Milwaukee tools but they do build them good and it is nearly impossible to buy a better drill than theirs.

I noticed someone comment on it being hard to drive screws... just be easy on the trigger! I've used it for driving screws just fine (watch the RPM's this drill produces) and for drilling in metal and wood since I've bought it. Smooth, smooth smooth! Just a great all-around tool.

The closest thing to a gripe about it is the trigger switch is a little large for my preference, and I never thought that the Magnum series drills had that comfortable of handle. Adding a speed adjustment dial to control RPM's on the trigger would be nice as well. The weight is probably a little higher than other drills in this range but considering it's the Hummer of the hi-speed 3/8" drill market that's OK.

If you're considering getting a 3/8" hi-RPM universal-use corded drill: this is the one. You won't be disappointed. It's more than worth the few (and I mean just a few) bucks more than the competition.

5-0 out of 5 stars ...Have had lot's of use in shops.
This is a really tough and powerful drill. If you need a drill that will not bog down and have power to spare try this Milwaukee. Have used this exact model in industrial shops. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Yikes!
I purchased these as a gift for the home improvement junkie that I share a house with and guess who uses them constantly? ME! They are razor sharp and quite an upgrade from the cheap dull ones we had previously. Don't buy cheap tools! They are dangerous and frustrating. We also have the 14 volt Milwaukee cordless drill and I love that too. Very happy with the bits.

5-0 out of 5 stars Do yourself a favor
These will be the last drill bits you will need to buy. They are super hard and will go through the toughest heat-treated metal. You will need to be carefull with them; even though they are hard, they will break if you were to drop them onto a concrete floor. But will a little care they should last a lifetime. ... Read more

It doesn't look like much, but take this little saw in hand and get to work, and you'll be as impressed as we are. First off, it's quality construction, everything from the comfortable, soft-grip handle to the same rugged, heavy-duty steel Quik-Lok clamp you'll find on Milwaukee's famous Sawzall recip saws. Blade change is as quick and easy as a twist of the thumb and index finger. The beauty of this little saw is that it will go anywhere and get into places a big, hungry recip saw can't. Just stock up on 1/2-inch tang recip saw blades and you'll be set. It's perfect for small cuts, delicate jobs and for the little tasks you don't want to haul your recip saw out for. Every homeowner and contractor ought to have one of these. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Thought it was just a gimmick; I was wrong!!
Since they were offering this little hand tool free with their Orbital Sawzall I figured it was probably junk. The quik-lok job saw is by no means junk. It is as well made as Milwaukee's Sawzalls and provides as much utility. The hand saw uses standard reciprocating saw blades and boasts the same tooless blade release mechanism (Quik-Lok) found on the Sawzalls. I have found the soft grip handle also very comfortable. I have used this little saw more often than I ever would have thought. Sometimes a reciprocating saw is overkill and you just want to make a small neat cut in a fragile area. This tool is often the best choice. For $20.00 you can't go wrong; obviously it won't replace your reciprocating saw but it certainly will facilitate its use.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great quality - good feel
Great quality and feel to this item - holds the blade like a vise and at a slight angle to relieve stress on the wrist. The spring-loaded locking collar is industrial design at it's best. Buy the variety pack of blades and you're all set to go. You won't be disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great keyhole/work saw
This has a much more sturdy handle then I expected. Not like other brands I've looked at. It holds the blades in place very well and it's design is comfortable to hold & use. The threaded end for attaching an extension pole looks like it may be a weak point. The plastic is a little thin and looks as if it may not take the kind of force you would apply on an extension pole, but in their defense I haven't tried to use it that way. I feel Milwaukee once again has earned their reputation for building quality hand tools. I would highly recommend it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Milwaukee 1/2 sheet finish sander
After agonizing over my choices for a finish sander, reading reviews and comparisons, I settled on the Milwaukee 6010-6 and I couldn't be happier. I couldn't believe how smoothly it coasted across the wood. It uses off-the-shelf sandpaper. It felt heavy at first but when in use it seems to just float. One possible negative is that it requires a extra purchase for a dust collection bag, but I've pretty much made up my mind to go for more sophisticated collection system anyhow. I don't have a basis for comparison of how loud it is but that can probably be found in the specifications.. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Works Great! Plenty of Torque for me..
This items comes shipped in the box. Nice! Cord is attached and longer than the average cord too. Plenty of torgue, nice features comfortable and much more powerful than the yellows if you know what I mean. One downside to this item is Milwaukee doesn't provide you with a nice metal case. Otherwise works very well. Puts other drills to shame. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Will pay for itself after one wiring job.
If you are going to be doing any serious wiring around your house buy one of these drills, don't argue with me, don't cavil and whine that's it's too expensive, just buy the drill. Now Drilling between joists, or up into wall cavities, tasks which are a complete pain in the neck with a standard drill are almost effortless with the 3002. I had to run a bundle of wires through 12 floor joists, with this drill it took me about 15 minutes to drill all of the holes I needed and run the wires. Like every other Milwaukee product the drill is very well built and durable and if taken care of will last forever.

5-0 out of 5 stars Milwaukee Builds'em Right
I use this drill at work on a daily bases and it has never let me down. The extra long handle is great when your dilling overhead. This model has a higher rpm than the standard right angle dill kit. The higher rpm's make drilling wood a lot easier. I only wish Milwaukee would have put the Quik-Lok cord on this model. No tool is perfect but this one comes close. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Get, you'll need it sooner or later
Purchased it with Milwaukee's cordless screwdriver just in case. Well, I needed it for a task within a week after receiving it. I would not have been able to do the task with the cordless otherwise. Get it. You'll be glad you did.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy it now, because you'll need it later
If you have an electric screwdriver, you gotta have one of these. Compact, rugged, smooth. Has a indexed handle that can mount in a variety of positions to offset the torque. Sooner or later you're going to have a use for this on a Sunday night, when all the stores are closed, so get one now, you wont regret it! Identical as one produced by AEG, now owned by Milwalkee.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Tool For Tight Spots
We use this tool all the time installing stereos in cars. This tool is extremely versitile in getting into hard to reach or impossible situations. There are cheaper imitations on the market, but they do not hold up like this model, especially when used with a cordless screwdriver or drill. Add a set of hex shank drill bits to add to the versitility of this tool.

5-0 out of 5 stars YOU NEED IT, RIGHT?
You just bought the best screwdriver possible. The Milwaukee. That is why you are looking at this offset. Well, the screwdriver's handle offsets. A little. But, that just gives you something to hold against when the torque starts. But now to get into the tight spots. Think about it, we've all been there..... This is built like a Milwaukee too, after being thought out like a Milwaukee. It fits in the carry case for the Milwaukee. You Need One, Right? Right.

5-0 out of 5 stars Compact but defintely a Sawzall!
I can remember my Dad bringing home a metal Milwaukee case 20 some years ago. I wasn't allowed to use it then, but his new Sawzall sure looked cool. That saw is still going for him and everyone that he knows that don't have their own. :) So I knew Milwaukee was the brand I needed for my first reciprocating saw. I purchased some "Torch" and "Ax" blades for my railroad tie removal project. This saw made easy work of the 8x10 ties (although they were rotted pretty bad). The orbital action real tore through the wood. I also had rebar holding them together, and The Hatchet combined with the "Torch" cut through them like butter. As another reviewer commented, the location of the trigger position when fully extended felt much more natural when cutting down than the D handles designs of most recip saws. I also liked the versatility of being able to use this saw in tight spaces. I assume I'll have this saw long enough for my kids to be intrigued by my red PLASTIC box. :)

5-0 out of 5 stars This saw is the BOMB!!!
Milwaukee being the king of reciprocating saws has done it again! The Hatchet is Fantastic! This tool has all the power and comfort to tackle the jobs its bigger brothers can. Best of all, the tool is light and compact, along with an adjustable handle!

Appropriately named the Hatchet, I found this tool is comfortably held with the handle fully extended where the downward pressure from my hands provide the most support and comfort much like the way you would hold the wooden handle on a real hatchet...I'll never use a D-Handle reciprocating saw again! It's that good! Between studs, upside down or just for demolition this saw has what it takes. Milwaukee added a two finger trigger switch and their Quik-Loc cord to complete this package. The only feature I wish they included is a separate variable speed dial like the ones found on their Super Sawzalls. But that's just a minor shortcoming, since speed is easily maintained with the hefty trigger switch. The tool-less blade clamp is the best in the industry.

Milwaukee even built the plastic blow molded case with "Heavy Duty" in mind! They must be the only company to integrate metal latching clasps since converting to cheaper plastic cases over metal ones. If you're looking for a saw that's light, comfortable and built to last...seriously consider the Milwaukee Hatchet! I got mine for Christmas and this thing also cuts Noble Firs like butter!

5-0 out of 5 stars JUST RIGHT
I waited trying to decide if I wanted the larger more powerful saw or the 18 volt hatchet. When I noticed an advertisement about the new electric corded hatchet. I ordered one as soon as I could. For my requirements it is just right.I use it at home and do not need the extra weight of a large one, or the battery.
I imagine the battery one is also a good one,but for the price and weight I think the average do it yourselfer would be very satified with this model. And as it is a Milwaukee I expect to have it a long time. ... Read more
