5-0 out of 5 stars One of the BEST
I have several routers (Proter Cable, Hatachi, Bosch, DeWalt and Ryobi) ranging in Hp from 1 1/2 - 3 1/4. Each of these routers have outstanding features, but the one I would rate over all is the Milwaukee D and the Body comfort models.

When it comes to control these two routers give the feeling of complete control over what you are doing. The startup is smooth and the power is above average.

I would recommend both of these routers highly.

Well done Milwaukee...

5-0 out of 5 stars great toy
best router I have ever used! Porter cable, look out!

5-0 out of 5 stars Well thought out design
I had been looking for a "D" handle router and was in the process of deciding on the Bosch or the Makita when I came across Milwaukee's router. Both of the previous two have good reputations, and I'm sure I would have been happy with either, but what caught my eye was the features on the Milwaukee... and it didn't hurt that it was several dollars cheaper. My primary reason for wanting the "D" handle is that I prefer having that motor switch right at my fingertips.

One feature I like, is that the base is tightened down to the motor, or loosened, with a metal lever that snaps open and closed. This is easier than twisting a knob, and once closed, you have a positive lock. (yes, I have failed to tighten a knob securely enough on another router and had the base come loose while operating it). Removal of the base is done by pressing a button and sliding the motor out of the base. "Coarse" adjustments are made the same way. A knob is provided on the top side for making fine adjustments. Though the adhustment is not a fine as on my plunge router, I find it to work very well. The collets require 2 wrenches to install bits, and the wrenches provided are the forged type rather than stamped metal, a definite plus.

All in all this router is a pleasure to use, and my past experience with Milwaukee service has been very good.

5-0 out of 5 stars ergonomic masterpiece
I received my new Milwaukee D-handle router the other day and am very impressed so far. I have quite a stable of Milwaukee tools that have given both faithful and flawless service over the years and expect this one to be no different. As a proffesional residential building contractor I will not only use this router in the shop for end tables, dressers, entertainment centers, and whatever else my wife threatens to buy if I don't build; but also on the job site. I used this router the other day to cut out window openings in plywood wall sheathing 26 feet up in the air hanging from a ladder, and thats where the D-handle with on-off control at the tip of your finger is so nice. I did'nt have to take my hand off the ladder to turn the thing off. Its' also relatively light and very powerful. The 1-3/4 hp at 24,000 rpm is more than I will ever need. If I have one gripe it's the fact that there currently is no impact resistant carrying case available with it like Milwaukees' body grip router with the same motor. I guess I will have to pony up ...$ to buy a contractor bag that their cordless combo kit comes with. All in all though I think Milwaukee has another winner.

5-0 out of 5 stars My first Production hand router
The selection of a router has always been a difficult thing for me to do. Yet when I discovered The Milwakee 1-3/4 h.p. router it was pointed out to me that it was well thought out and had some unique features that others didn't have. The offerings by other brands had all the bells and whisles that make them unique and while all in a vast field of routers have there own merits the Milwaukee stands out from the rest in the field as to its power rating and size.
Why? you might ask did I chose to buy this router over such a crowded field? The design at first looks like some of the more well respected competion. But when close examination you find the little things that count the most. Simplicity of use should be a real consideration and yet this is a soficated design as well. I needed a good router that will work all day. I use this device to make lots of Hive bodies for my infant beekeeping operation. I have to, the bills are piling up on supply house wood ware equipment that use nothing more than finger joints for the standard of the industry. Surfice it to say the Router under review is a good place to start.
The device has some really redeeming qualitys that make unique in what Milwaukee Tools supplies. The wrenches are the first thing that comes to mind. Some others don't even offer or have eliminated tools that should come with machines that use them. Milwaukee didn't disappoint me and sent the right tool to take the bits on and off. Those 2 wrenches are a good sign that someone was watching "Router Work Shop" and the design also refelects on that as well.
If this tool is to be used in a multi-versital roll, like all routers should be, then this router has no real equal as of yet.(Notice nothing stays the same any more.)Since the router has now been defined as a unique tool that someone who works in wood has to have in order to conduct such things as rabbiting, and jointing this tool is at home above the work surface and well as bellow the surface. Why bother buying addtional gismo's when you have them built into the power tool in question. The Router table plays a big part in what I have to do. This means that adjustments to the depth of the tool bit and working surface has to be made simple not complexted.(Thank you "Router Work shop" for the simple method that you employed to do just that.) All router must be inverted and the controls of the depth must be adjusted in order to preform such taskes. This tool has devised a way into there design to do this without removing the router from the surface. It isn't much at first glance but both the normal router in this area and the "D" handled model do have an adjustment bolt that is 3/8" and a simple socket wrentch is all that is needed to make those adjustments at the surface.
This above feature and the "Router Work shop" should make itself self evedent that the design is a big improvement and a real time saver when someone has to make an adjustment without changing tool bits. The router in qestion has a very slight "kick" when starting but then even the "soft start" features on other routers sill have a "kick" when doing so. The whole device is well fishised in a nice Powder Coating and information on the housing tells the operator just what direction the rotation is. The concern to the operator is also definded in both models with contols of the hand and the vibration that occurs in all power tools. Ergonomics as a field should always help the user of power tools to achive control of the device at all times. This Router has, in my mind, all the applied features and considerations to the operator who has to use this tool everyday at prolonged intevals that it will not do lose control of this device. The Milwaukee Tool company should be comended on the consideration of the worker who uses there product.
While I have not used this device under real curcumstances it has no "Gyro-Effects" in what ever position that I place it with my control of the tool in operation. This makes me belive that it has been "balanced" to such a degree that the operator can control the device in any position that he wants to. Ther is no element of surprise with this power tool. Milwaukee Tool makes fine power tools for the heavy-duty crowd who make their living operating their tools under difficult positioning situations in order to achive construction of buildings and other edifices. (Plumbing and Electrical trades.) Their experance in those fields to design were not overlooked in this tool. Long hours of use is expected in those devices and I belive that the consideration in design were such that they didn't overlook those considerations in this tool as well.
So all in all I have chosen a safe and reliable tool that will out last me in the service or wood working and construction of my Hive bodies and other wood ware that I have to make on my own. While it is a minor problem the locking down of the power tool in the "D" handle is just a little to small for my fingers that just might be a "Plus" when consideration for such a feature is employed. (You can get by it with a firm application to it by the use of your thumb or a pen or pencil if handy.)
Since all that is specified is I feel that this tool is a good investment and shouldn't be overlooked in the overall consideration of a simple router with more features than normal.

5-0 out of 5 stars What an awesome investment!!!
I am a handyman/ and I do alot of remodeling. I was doing alot of jobs that called for a hammer drill. I finally broke down and purchased one on a clearence sale. The Milwaukee SDS Rotary hammer drill. I believe that the manufacturor has underated this tool. It has three modes; drill, hammer drill and chisel. The chisel mode has multiple positions when you use the mode selector switch. The manufactor states that when your in chisel mode it will handle light chiseling. I beg to differ. I was remodeling an old bathroom that had 3 inch poured floors with set in porcelin tile. I watched as my partner with all his might and a hammer sweated through a short session of demo. I told him when he got tired to let me know. I got out the hammer drill and selected chisel mode. It took only minutes to demo the floor. The hammer drill punched through the floor like a hot knife through butter. We starred at the broken up floor with amazment. I had no sore muscles or banged up hands. I have used it for other jobs involving hardened bloch that I could barely chip with a small sledge hammer and the hammer drill tore through it without hesitation. The drill mode has alot of torque for those heavy drilling applications like landscape beams. There is a convertor chuck that allows you to use normal shank bits. Do not use cheap mason bits this drill will eat them up. The drill is capable of drilling a 4 inch diameter core hole in concrete. Now for the small complaint I have is; I am left handed and when I use the accessary handle it doesn't allow me to tighten it down without hitting the locking nut. (Really not worth complaining about. This is as valuable as a sawzall is to a remodelor. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is what you should think about
Most of the sawzall blades are ok, so-so, and will get the job done in a timely manner, but if you got an AX blade, get ready to rummmmbbble. 5-0 out of 5 stars A tough little blade

Amazon.com Review

Milwaukee's cordless screwdriver is a handy tool with enoughpunch for most screwdriving applications, in a size small enough to fiteasily in a tool belt without falling out or taking up a lot of space. The tilting handle offers a better grip in higher-torque situations, aswell as allowing you to fit the tool in tight spaces. This single-speedversion of the driver operates at 190 rpm, and has six clutch settingsthat allow from 5 to 22 inch-pounds of screw-tightening torque. Thiskit also comes with a 1/4-inch keyed chuck attachment for lightdrilling applications. While the tool has plenty of power for drillingsmall pilot holes--and even some countersinking--it's first andforemost a screwdriver, and not a great replacement for even a smallhandyman's cordless drill. The full kit includes the screwdriver, two2.4-volt batteries, a one-hour charger, the 1/4-inch keyed chuckattachment, a four-piece bit set, and an impact-resistant carrying casethat holds the lot. --Brian Trinen ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Tool I Can Count On
For more than ten years this tool has never failed to function perfectly. I like the forward and reverse rocker switch. When used by a "lefty" the switch is easily operated by the index finger. For right hand operation the thumb is used. Another great feature is the lock switch which prevents the tool from accidentially being turned on. For example, if you want to snug up a screw by hand you can lock the switch off. Locking the tool before placing it in your tool box prevents accidential turn on while in storage. The battery removes easily and seems to always run longer than I expect it would. Of course, in ten years I have replaced them from time to time. The adjustable torque is a great feature too. It's a great tool for electrical work, electronic equipment repair, and working on door locks, etc. I have not missed variable speed since a quick on/off works well. I often underestimate its power. The two speed model might be worth checking on if you want to drill with it. My two single speed units give me good control. These tools have seen a lot of service and I have never regretted the purchases!

5-0 out of 5 stars Milwaukee 6540-1 2.4-Volt 190 RPM Screwdriver with Battery a
Fantastic tool for the truck or auto tech, this is definetly a case were less is better, reffering to the voltage of the unit.It is very compact yet has a nice balance between power and it's ability to get into very tight spaces. The driver is very well constructed, so is the charger ,all of which are produced in Japan, which means you are getting quality. The package also includes a jabobs chuck and chuck key, 2 batteries, a high impact carrying case and some assortyed bits.Add a good bit selection for some real versatility
.From the use I have had so far I can tell you the batteries are long lasting and the unit has been trouble free.I would recommend the offset as an assesory,it comes in very handy.Don't let the lower voltage fool you, this is a very effective tool.If your looking for a more powerful unit look to the Dewalt driver, but is is not as nearly as compact ,the price paid for more power.I personally have both of the drivers and each has it's place. This is a killer package from Milwaukee, and a must have addition to your tool chest, you will not be sorry with your choice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best screwdriver for Computers
This is the best screw driver I have ever used for working on computers. With the clutch set at 1 I can drive screws in any computer component with out fear of over tightening. I have been using this screw driver for 7 years now on all things computer related and have absolutely no complaints. I have even driven screws into plastic with out stripping them.

The two speed setting is great most of the time I leave it in high with the clutch on one and don't think about it. There are the times with the occasional sticky screw where you might need to turn the clutch up and set the speed to low but the screw driver has the ability to do that with in easy reach of your thumb.

The rocker switch between forward and reverse makes it easy to take the screw back out that you just mistakenly put in.

I can't think of a more essential tool for working on computers that this screw driver ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Getting Up Self Adhesive Tiles
This puppy works great. I have run for several hours while prying up self-adhesive floor tiles and have had no problems. It's light weight and the handle does not get overly hot so you can use it without a glove.

5-0 out of 5 stars Milwaukee 8977 Heat Gun
The Milwaukee heat gun is very quiet and provides rapid, constant heat. Temperature adjustment is easy, granted it does take some guess work to determine the output temperature. I've used this unit constantly for paint removal and shrink sleeving applications.

5-0 out of 5 stars Milwaukee Variable Temp Heat Gun
I purchased a Milwaukee Variable Temperature Heat Gun, Model 8977-20 to strip several layers of old paint on the exterior trim of a 1914 Four Square home. The Milwaukee delivered on the brand's reputation for contractor quality and thoughtful ergonomic design.

After using the heat gun for several window frames, several things stand out: It's light. An important quality when working above your head. (This was one of the key reasons I selected the Milwaukee heat gun over competitors'.)

It's quiet. You barely hear it. Again, a nice feature when you are working several hours at a stretch. It's easy to adjust temperature (just twist the rear housing cover). It really works well. Several layers of badly cracked paint, scraped away with only a few seconds of heat.

Be careful on dry, bare wood with any heat gun. It can burn. I used a spray bottle to wet down old, bare wood when working close to the edge. ... Read more

Milwaukee's tools have a great reputation for toughness and longevity. This grinder is all that and more. Its steel case is a big help in keeping the garage neat and the flexibility in choosing handle positions as well as the lock-on switch are more useful than you would initially think, allowing you to work in many more positions.

In addition to making short work of nearly anything metal, just strap on a sanding disc and have at any wood surface you please, making this a really useful tool to have.

IF YOU'RE INTO HEAVY DUTY REMODELING OR FIRE REPAIR,THIS SAW IS FOR YOU. IT'S NOT FOR WIMPS AND IT WON'T LET YOU DOWN. I'VE HAD MINE FOR OVER TEN YEARS AND IT SHOWS NO SIGN OF WEARING OUT.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Cadillac of circular saws
To have a fair review of this saw, besides long lasting quality we should point out two important features of this outstanding saw: 1)SAFETY is maximized by Milwaukee here, positioning the handles far from the blade ! 2)YOU CAN SEE where you cut, making precise cuts.(almost impossible with other circular saws).

I bought this saw on the Milwaukee name. I have owned 5 wormdrive saws by Skillsaw brand name. If I didn't pay so much for this saw I would throw it out. Both handles, guard, and height adjustment do not even come close to the Skill saw. The table is thiner than Skills,it bends very easy. The top handle is I beam shape not round, Hold on to that handle for a day. The guard lever is very thin, if you lay it on the guard lever it will bend. The height adjustment is also about 1/2 the thickness of Skills and it sticks and can be very hard to adjust. Don't buy it! Buy a Skillsaw brand worm drive saw.

4-0 out of 5 stars One Stout Saw
I bought this saw expecting Quality & that is what I got. Fit & finish is great. Yes it is heavy but for me I have more control with the weight. It has plenty of power to get the job done without bogging down. Yea my sons & I even cut some firewood with it. As stout as this unit is it should last longer than the other two units of a different make that I have used & no I did not cut firewood with them. Complaints? It would be nice to recieve this unit with a carry case. Also this unit will not cut through 4x4 in a single pass.

4-0 out of 5 stars 8 1/4" worm drive
If you're into "Tim Taylor" type tools, this is the saw to have. It's bigger than the saws all the other guys have on the block. It's got plenty of power, and is almost impossible to bog down. Unlike 7 1/4" saws, you can cut through a 6X6 in two passes.

The only downside is that it's a bit heavy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This machine measures up!
I teach shop in a Junior High School. Over the years I have used almost every brand of 4" X 24" Belt Sander. The Milwaukee sander is light, well balanced, sands smooth even when changing directions on large flat surfaces and is very durable. I always tell people, "If it can survive Junior High, it is good" Our sander has been in operation for 6 years and has performed flawlessly without breakage or failure.

4-0 out of 5 stars Does what it suppose to do
I bought the Milwaukee 5936 about 2 weeks ago and am very pleased with it. When you turn it on you can feel the power and upon setting it on the wood, it does all the work. All you have to do is guide it. I used it on 2" thick maple and it took off 1/8" in no time. You can also lift the front of the sander up and with the front roller sand curved legs, though an oscillating sander would be better. A great sander that I would recommend to anyone looking to buy a 4x24" belt sander.

1-0 out of 5 stars Sloppy-engineered Expensive Junk
I had heard great things about Milwaukee, so I paid dearly for this one and was greatly disappointed. For the price, you will receive a motor that will pull a trailer but is too heavy to carry, and the adjustment mechanism is made of large, thick chunks of metal that won't break if you back over the thing, but the sloppy machining make this moot since the tool won't hold the settings. Forego the "beef", save some money and buy a tool that is precision machined and inteligently engineered. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It just does its job
This will also work on Hitachi 7 1/4 saws except that the Milwaukee thumb screws does not fit on Hitachi saws which use a 6-mm metric fine-thread screw to hold the fence in place.

5-0 out of 5 stars of course
Just order it when you buy the saw. You will need it.

5-0 out of 5 stars YOU WEREN'T GONNA NOT BUY IT, WERE YOU?
You just bought the best saw money can, the Milwaukee. Now, I agree, this should be in the box, but seeing how you get what you pay for, and some fools will actually compare price on Milwaukee with (Brand B). Milwaukee chose to make this an extra, probably to hold the line on the saw. Now, you aren't actually going to cheat yourself because they hafto market to fools are you? OF course not. So just buy it. What are you reading this for? ... Read more
