2-0 out of 5 stars The Fine Print
I purchased this saw believing it was made in the USA. The technical data provided by Amazon states the country of manufacture as being the US. I was very dissapointed when the product arrived and found "Made In Taiwan" on the box. I called Milwaukee and was told the US made miter saw, model # 6494, had been discontinued and that the -6 on the end of the model number denotes made in Taiwan. I decided to keep the saw despite this issue, if the quality seemed good. Overall, the saw appeared well made. However I was dissapointed to find a crack in the aluminum base in an area where the casting was quite thin. Needless to say the saw is being returned, and I am shopping for a different brand.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sweet Saw
First rate in every regard. High quality castings, minimal plastic, and smooth/powerful motor. I've owned the the cheap Taiwan junk and finally have a saw I enjoy using.

4-0 out of 5 stars THE BEAST
I WORK CONSTRUCTION AND I COUNT ON MY TOOL TO PERFORM TO A CERTAIN LEVEL OF EXCELLENCE. I FOUND THAT MY MILWAUKEE ACCOMPLISHED EVERY BIT OF WHAT I EXPECTED, THE ONLY REAL WEAKNESS IN THE DESIGN OF THE SAW IS IN THE MITER LOCKING HANDLE IT A LITTLE EASY TO BEND.

THE PRICE WAS A LITTLE EXPENSIVE BUT I THOUGHT FOR THE QUALITY OF THE TOOL AND THE QUALITY OF THE CUTS IT WAS MONEY WELL SPENT. I DON'T LIKE CUTTING SOMETHING TWICE AND THIS SAW REDUCES THE CHANCE CONSIDERABLY. YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR QUALITY

4-0 out of 5 stars Milwaukee's Best
I ain't just talking beer.

This is an excellent saw. I do alot of light construction on the side (friends, relatives, small jobs) and I've been through three compound saws. Bought the cheaper Rigid 10" and it would never hold true. I returned this saw and bought a Bosch 10" and this saw die on the second day. Thinking it was a fluke I exchanged it, but the new one left wavy cuts with the fine blade. Needless to say it was returned with a little bit of yelling.

Well to make a long story short I got the Big Red 10" Milwaukee and it's fantastic. Always holds true, slices like "Hot Butter" and is very rugged. The only reason I gave it a 4 was that it is spendy for a 10" but if you do construction or just love having quality tools the "BEAST" is the one for you. This is a quality saw!!! ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

The Milwaukee 5615-21 churns through wood as well as any routerin its class, but it's not the powerful 11 amp motor, the100-percent-sealed bearing construction, or even the durable,machined-aluminum motor housing and base that make this router unique. No, it's Milwaukee's revolutionary BodyGrip design, which enables you tostrap your hand in, grab hold, and guide the router with far morecontrol and accuracy than the competition's standard-handled models. Awide 6-inch base and 2-1/2-inch opening provide a clean line of sight, and well-designed controls allow depth for easy adjustments as small as1/64 of an inch. Of course, Milwaukee's 5615-21 performs equally wellunder the table. In fact, above-the-table depth adjustments make heightmodifications a breeze. --Carl Thress ... Read more

Features

  • Exclusive BodyGrip design features a tactile handgrip molded into the base of the router
  • Linear depth adjustment system makes both coarse and micro-fine height adjustments quickly and accurately
  • Router sub-base includes a special access hole for above-the-table depth adjustments
  • Package includes 1/4- and 1/2-inch self-releasing collets

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply the best!!!
After using this new Milwaukee router, I have to say the it is truly the most well balance and comfortable router I have ever used. Why did it take so long for someone to thing of a body grip design? The ease of adjusting the depth is second to none and it cuts flawlessly. Even though I don't mount this under a table, once again Milwaukee has solved the problem of having to go under the table to adjust the depth by making a hole that you can then use a tool to adjust the depth from on top. Can't wait to see if they will come out with some bigger ones.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ergonomic Grips and Precision Cam Hight/Depth Adjustment
I inspected this new router while speaking with my local Milwaukee tool representative at the Orange Box store. I own an older Ryobi/Craftsman router and was greatly impressed with the ergonomic grips and precision cam action used to set the bit depth on this new Milwaukee router. The depth/height was extremely easy to use and this a feature that isn't available in other router brands at this price range. The included case is well made and includes two wrenches for changing the router bits and collet. This is clearly a well made professional tool that feels good in your hands. I'm in the market to buy one in the next month, and I would have bought it while looking at it in the Orange Box store, but it is a special order only item there.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sweet little thing!
This is my third router, but my first one from Milwaukee. I love the compact design and the palm grip, it makes free-handing a breeze. I bought this design specifically for that purpose and it absolutely delivers.
I've read a review or two talking about excess vibration. I have had no hint of this with mine. While I was breaking it in, I let it sit on the case-bottom stand that it comes with(another cool design, by the way) and to check it's stability, I backed my hands off for a bit. The thing barely even rotated. Solid as a rock.
I also love the height adjustment on this guy. I'm used to a PC plunge router and the Milwaukee is a joy in comparison!
The only two features I wish it had are a spindle lock so you don't have to use two wrenches and variable speed to give it greater vesatility.
I highly recommend the 5615 if you are looking for a small, easy to manage, easy to adjust freehanding router.
I have no intention of putting it upder a table so you'll have to rely on other reviewer's experience there.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent piece of equipment!
I was in the market for a router and examined several brands. After checking them out I found that the Milwaukee was the easiest for me to use. I've had very good luck with Milwaukee tools and this router is no exception. When I examined the router everything on it made sense and was easy to understand. The height adjustment was the easiest I'd seen. The router came with both 1/4" and 1/2" self releasing collets and a hard shell storage case. This is a great piece of equipment. I use it all the time making projects out of oak and it always easily does the job. This is the first router I've owned, and I wasn't sure how well I'd be able to use one. This router is so easy to use and it has allowed me to turn out such nice results that my confidence level has risen dramatically. Just like all my other Milwaukee tools it's built solid. If you need a router you can trust this one.

2-0 out of 5 stars Milwaukee 5615-21 router vibrates so bad it's dangerous.
I purchased this router a couple of months ago and attached it to a MLCS router plate so that I could use it in my table saw extension. I used it yesterday for the first time and was very disapointed in the amount of vibration this router has. It is so bad the leveling screws for the plate vibrated completely out and the guide pin that I use when using bits with bearings vibrated out (twice) and over into the spinning bit then shot off into my yard. I never could find the pin. Also in order to use the height adjustment through the base plate you have to remove one of the handles because the screw holding it in is too long. No big deal if you leave it in a router table but a pain if you take it out to use it by hand. This router has some neat features but I wouldn't recomend this router until they solve these problems. I have seen several other reviews about the excessive vibration. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very durable blades
This is the toughest blade that I have come across. I work in plastics plant and we use sawzalls to cut up the nonconforming product to be reworked. I have tried several blades and they all bend and break. These blades are made from a thicker metal and can stand up to some real rough treatment. If you are hard on blades, these are the ones for you. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The real deal
Smooth and torquey. Very easy to handle. For most jobs I prefer this to a heavier model. It is refreshing that this power tool comes in a useful case that actually can hold more than the tool and a bit. I'm not big on the plastic cases supplied with power tools these days since they take up too much room and have no space inside for anything else. This metal case is actually useful. The supplied bits are pretty high quality too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quality drill
I've had my 5397-6 3/8" Heavy Duty Hammer Drill for a few months and used it a lot. It has performed flawlessly. I have yet to do any all day drilling in hard granite, but it goes through concrete and limestone like butter. It has the solid feel and smooth action you expect from a Milwaukee tool. It switches out of hammer mode with a simple turn of the chuck collar. I do wish it had the detachable power cord like the 1/2" model, but that is a minor issue. The depth stop mechanism is a little cheesy, but it seems to work fine (I dont use it that much). The 3/8" capacity is plenty for most applications, I'm usually drilling for Tapcons, and its perfect. The case is typical Milwaukee, very sturdy. The set of bits included with the drill are good quality. I am very happy with the 5397-6 and would recommend it without reservation.

5-0 out of 5 stars 3/8" work horse
I run a large automotive repair shop. We relocate equipment and perform building maintenance on a regular basis. Our technicians have asked for a hammer drill for a long time. I finally broke down and got them one. In the past we borrowed a 1/2" hammer drill(a different brand). Our techs claim the 3/8" Milwaukee drills faster with less vibration. They love the balanced lightweight design. The masonary drill bits included are first rate, I have not replaced any of them yet. The case is top quality and has enough room to hold some of our most common fasteners. The depth guage does seem a little cheesey at first, but it works fine, mounting behind the removeable side handle. Overall truly a 5 star product ... Read more

I had spent 6 years procrastinating, using my 18v cordless drill to drill for my wiring jobs. I borrowed my plumbers right angle drill (a beat-up Old Milwaukee)and on my way home that night I stopped at my local home improvement store and bought one. Wow what a time saver. The Old Milmaukee FEELS heavy duty. Great torque. Im sure I'll be passing this one down some day. And this is from a Dewalt user...

4-0 out of 5 stars Sell more tools!!!
What an awesome review! Actually I was looking for a tool that did something else, however I ALMOST bought your saw just because you gave such a great description of what this could do. I had no idea of the complexity and techniques to cut pipe --- clear, practical advice. Thanks!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Milwaukee 6232-6 4-3/4" Portable Band Saw
You've probably seen one of these Milwaukee portable band saws around on various job sites for years. The 6232-6 is Milwaukee's kit number for the 6230 variable-speed, deep-cut band saw with a blow molded plastic storage case.
I bought the 6230 band saw for the same reasons that everbody else does, to cut steel strut, pipe and conduit. Although it doesn't cut nearly as fast as a chop saw, this tool does have certain advantages over and above even the best chop saws. The most obvious being that you can bring this tool to the work as opposed to bringing the work to the tool. It also doesn't require dedicated space and the ampere draw is much lower for generator-powered job sites.
It has the capacity to handle up to 4" heavy-wall rigid conduit or black iron pipe and it's heck of a lot faster than a hacksaw or pipe cutter. It also makes a much cleaner, straighter cut. The variable-speed switch makes it easier to start a cut and to control the saw throughout the entire cut than with the older style two-speed models, especially when cutting thin wall material like EMT or softer materials like brass.
The 44-7/8" X ½" X .020 blade runs at up to 350 FPM, and good quality bi-metal blades are relatively inexpensive at a little under six dollars apiece. They do last a fairly long time when cutting mild steel, but for cutting thicker material, stainless steel or hardened tool steel, it makes sense to spend a little extra and get a true cobalt blade such as the Morse cobalt varied-pitch 10-14 TPI or else you'll be replacing bi-metal blades every few minutes. The saw comes with one 14 TPI bi-metal blade installed. I wouldn't recommend buying regular carbon steel blades because they don't last very long at all and the better bi-metal blades are usually only a few cents more in price anyway.
A good dark cutting oil will help keep blades alive when cutting steel, but you probably don't want to use a wax based stick lubricant on the edges of the blade if you can avoid it because the build up can cause the tools rubber edged drive wheel to loose it's grip, letting the blade slip off right in the middle of a cut. This usually causes the blade to become kinked, requiring it to be discarded. You won't find any reference to this in the owners manual, but it has happened to me a few times over the years.
Blade changes are fast and easy, just release the tensioning lever, remove the old blade, feed the new blade through the guide and rollers, then move the tensioning lever back to the lock position. There is also a storage space for a few spare blades in the tools plastic storage case.I'm not sure why, but for some reason Milwaukee hasn't added the quick-lock cord to their portable band saws.
Overall, the 6230 is very well made and has always proven to be very durable. If you have a need to cut various metal materials in the field frequently, I would say that this tool pretty much recommends itself. ... Read more

Power, power, power is what you get. The all-metal gear case and diaphragm add a little heft to Milwaukee's drill, but the performance is unbeatable. Further, for such a heavy drill, it sits nicely in hand, thanks to the ergonomic grip and comfortable, longer trigger. Kudos to Milwaukee designers for placing the reversing switch at your trigger fingertip. The all-metal keyed chuck is built for a long work life and will see thousands of half-inch shank bits in its time. You’ll love the included side handle if you’re going to be working this tool for any length of time, as it is a heavy piece. It's a workhorse. The quality is unsurpassed.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... I am in the trades and have owned the 1/2 inch magnum drills for years without to many problems except the notorious switch problem milwaukee has. The drills have lasted for years and have always had plenty of power and durability. I purchased a replacement drill with the new handle configuration and it just didn't hold up.The drill is now dangerous to use without a handle and it is such a hassle to get a replacement.I'm looking for a new brand.

5-0 out of 5 stars powerhouse!
I bought this drill based on a tool shootout of high amperage 1/2 inch drills in tools of the trade magazine. This drill came out head and shoulders above the offerings from hitatchi, makita, dewalt, portercable and bosch. The highlights of this drill are gobs of torque(It will twist your arm if you are not careful!) solid yet lightweight construction, a long, heavy gauge ruber 3 prong cord, a heavy duty keyed chuck. I picked this drill up at the home depot during a tool trade in promotion(traded in an old single speed metal bodied black and decker 3/8th drill.) I have been so impressed at the capabilities of this drill. It has driven 4 inch long 3/8ths lag screws without a problem. It will stir a paddle bit in drywall mud and drive up to a 2 and 9/16ths self feed bit. This is one incredible tool. I will be replacing the keyed chuck with a keyless though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Drill
I bough tthis drill and it is great. The torque is enough for any job you will run into for a hand drill. It runs 2-1/2" forestner bits without any difficulty. It also offers very smooth easy to control variable speed trigger. The only thing I was disappionted in was that I like having cases for my tools and this one didn't come with one. Milwaukee will sell you one but I would rather make my own than pay that much for a box. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars 12 Years and Still Going Strong!!
I bought this little sander when I first began contracting more than 12 years ago. The thing is still going strong. Sheet changes are a snap with the front and rear levers. The sander fits comfortably in your hand for long sessions on drywall and furniture. You name the job and its likely that this little sander can tackle it. It's taken years of abuse and neglect. Like they used to say about Timex watches, this Milwaukee sander "takes a lickin' and keeps on ticken'." Unlike the unfortunate reviewer below, I have never had a problem with any of my Milwaukee tools. In fact, I've never had a problem with any contractor-quality tool I've ever purchased (Milwaukee, Bosch, Makita, etc.) Like many purchases, personal preference seems to ranks high in tool selection. I just happen to be partial to Milwaukee and this 1/4 sheet sander is one of the reasons why. Overall grade? A+. ... Read more
