It's a worker
I bought this compressor a few days ago for my small remodeling company.

I am currently growing and needed a larger compressor for the job site, as all I was using was a pancake compressor from porter cable, and it had a hard time keeping up with the heavier demands I was putting on it.

I had looked at alot of compressors from emglo (dewalt) and others. I also looked at the specifications as I wanted a compresor that would have fast recovery, and high air presure for driving nails in older existing framing.

My first surprsie was the way it was packaged. The compressor had no assembly reqired, and was easy to remove from the box. This may sound like a stupid thing, But I prefer to work than asemble tools or have to pry them out of thier packing.

We tested it as soon as we got it to the job site and have used it for a few days now. This compressor is an animal. it will drive nails with my Porter Cable FR 350 into almost anything, and you can literally go non stop. The recovery is the fastest I have seen on any compressor out there. It only takes about 30 seconds run time to refill the tank from 125 to 150.

The only drawback to this compresor is the noise. It is a litle loud, But we fixed that by moving the compressor to another room, and removing the regualtor panel and putting it into the work area. I wasn't sure I would use this feature, but it is great, as you have your air supply and regulator right where you are working. The quick connects are also handy, just push the nipple into the coupler and it locks automatically. The cart is really handy. over having to carry it. ( It's not light )

This compressor by far exceeds what I expected it to do.
You could easily support two framers and other tools off this unit. For the price of this unit, and the features it is a bargin. I already have a few friends in the business who after seeing it, are planning on purchasing one. ... Read more

MaD PowER
Anything you set out to accomplish with this baby is a zip. The 2500 rpms are more than enough to drive screws up to 3 inches with no prob into rafters, decking, and drywall. The depth setter is accurate, and allows for proper penetration into drywall. Grip provides comfort, and the belt clip seems durable, and hasn't broke yet, (as it has on my Dewalt). I always reach for this one... get it?

Design flaws
First one of these I received came out of the box damaged beyond repair. Switch was broke, regulator fitting broken off flush with the tank, tabs on the compressor that the shroud connects to were broken off from the compressor. Tool Crib did take very good care of me and sent me a new one. I went over the new one with the proverbial fine-toothed comb. All was intact. After about 2 hours of use (with me that translates to about 3 months) one of the tabs on the compressor that connects to the shroud has broken off. I have not moved the compressor since the day I took it from its box. I really think the thing is way too fragile for professional use. I am breaking the thing and I am just a hobbyist.

On the plus side, I can hold a conversation with my wife while the thing is running. It's a bit loud but not as loud as some of the "oil free" compressors are.

Very nice unit
I'm a carpenter/contractor and need reliable, good, long lasting equipment. Very happy with this air compressor. Hefty, but can carry around most anywhere. Not so loud to use inside and dosen't recycle so much and when it dose, it is quick. Handles framing to finish. Have plugged into 300 feet of electric cord and no problem with curcuit breakers. Very sturdy and am happy so far with product. Everyone is impressed with it.

Big Rip-off
I think it's criminal that Porter Cable has chosen not to include both the 1/4 inch and the 1/2 inch collet with this $300 plus router. This collet can't cost more than fifty cents; yet it's retailing for around $12. This is especially true since Porter Cable has joined the ranks of other companies, manufactoring their blades and bits in China. I have a number of Porter Cable tools, and they've always been first rate. I was really surprised when I received my new 7518, and it only had one collet. If they're going to rip you off on a collet, who knows what corners they're going to cut inside the case.

Does the job fine
Works great, if you need it, get it, no problems. Works in all of the Porter Cable Routers that I have. Zero complaints and I always find every little design flaw.

1/4" collet for PC 7518
Unfortunately, the Porter Cable 7518 router only includes a 1/2" collet. This 1/4" self-releasing collet allows the woodworker who already purchased 1/4" bits to use the older bits in the PC 7518, saving the cost of purcashing new 1/2" bits. It may sand good but replacement is the key!
It's funny, the sander works great! But my pad had to be replaced because it kept tossing the disc off the pad! Why is it that it is made to keep the sandpaper on and after using it for awhile it wears out? The pad is listed here at 17+ dallors......in the stores around here, they cost more! I'd rather find a product that does just as well and not be replacing a part that cost alot of money!

Long lasting sander paper
I have used several different kinds of sander papers on PG333,so far this is the most impressive one for its long durable quality, other brand papers wore off much quicker than this one. Highly recommended.

Bad laser
I bought this tool 3 weeks ago, the first one did not work outside (in the sun, temp 82f) for more than 5 to 10 min., Amazon sent me another one, and it did the same thing. I called PC and they said "they have removed this laser from the market because of this problem". I am not happy and have returned both, however my job have suffered greatly because of lost time and due to PC not informing Amazon of this. This orbital sander is a workhorse!

CAN'T BE BEAT!!!!
I have used the Porta-Cable 332 for approximately 20 years and have just ordered my 3rd one. The first one I sold (it's still in use, the 2nd is used every day on the job. This sander is light weight and gets into some very tight places. My wife and I buid cabinets and trim houses, so this sander it used constantly.The reason for the 2nd sander?---she's getting tired of doing all the sanding. Frustrated Porter Cable Fan
I'm a contractor, and I've been a loyal Porter Cable customer for a long time. I own many P/C tools. I purchased this 12v drill as a replacement for a DeWalt 18v drill that I felt was too heavy and cumbersome for all-day use. Now I'm sorry I sold the DeWalt. This 12v has caused many frustrating moments on the job site...poor battery life, faulty keyless chuck (very annoying), and a 2-speed gear switch that sometimes slips into neutral if you're not careful where you grip the drill. I just can't recommend this drill, which is unfortunate for such a Porter Cable fan.

Be Careful with the Batteries
This is a super driver/ flashlight combo with the exception of two problems. The chuck is difficult to tighten on drill bits for the really tough jobs. And the batteries, if one should begin to leak (noticed by blue color on the contacts) had better be disposed of promptly. It will spread like cancer to the charger, then to the other battery and components. My entire system had to be disposed of due to a little blue color that I didn't think was a problem until too late.

Disappointed
Having purchased other Porter Cable products in the past, I had high expectations for this tool. I previously worked with a Makita 9.6 volt unit and wanted to upgrade to a 12 volt product. After six months of fairly light use, my first unit broke at the stem beneath the keyless chuck (above the torque adjustment). A local retail outlet replaced the tool with a new unit, but the battery failed after a few months on the replacement unit. I have concerns about overall manufacturer quality, however, the tool does perform well.

Great Product
I did a lot of research on cordless drills and everything pointed to Porter-Cable as the drill to buy. It has performed flawlessly. It has plenty of power to drill, and it is easy to swap out the bits really fast. I probably would have preferred the 14.4V, but I can honestly say that the 12V does the job. So far so good
I've had this compressor for about a year and like it. It was ready to go after adding the oil which was included. I bought it when I switched to air tool sanding and it easily keeps up with that job.
The drain is a little hard access. The manual advises you to releive the air pressure though the quick relief valve, automatically down to about 10PSI, then opening the water drain and closing the valve before restarting.

pump bearings leaking after one year of light duty use
after one year of light duty use pump bearing leaking oil and fly wheel belt won't ride true . unit now in shop waiting for parts, down time three to four weeks, had to borrow small compressor from family member. I would not recomend this compressor at all. A better compressor would be home depots huskey 60 gal a much better built unit at 399.00 pump is solid cast iron and the tubing is copper vs alumium that poter cable uses .I think poter cable should stick to building beltsanders, routers,& sawzalls

It's KEEN!
My wife is always on me to rotate the tires. Now I can do it in under 6.5 hours!!

Thank goodness, now I've got enough air to last me dozens of rotations and the compressor hardly ever has to come on. We've even tried to really stress it out by blowing up my daughter's pool toys AT THE SAME TIME! :-)

Air Compressor
This air compressor has alot of power, more than enough to run two tools at one time. Was simple to set up (wiring, piping, etc.)

The only drawback that I found was the drain plug on the bottom, it leaked air even after tighting it up.

It is not real loud. Runs smooth. Makes hard jobs easy.

It only took me about 10 minutes to rotate my tires because I had an impact wrench.

This is truly a well built machine. Strong, Quiet, Practical
I had bought the Porter Cable 4" Whisper Series Model 362 about a year ago. It is the same unit as this one, same 12 amp motor etc, but has the dust bag with it, and is variable speed. You can see the 362VS here at Amazon. For the price difference I would buy the 362VS. I had written this review, thinking that this was the model that I had, after looking at the model number on the sander, I realized it was a 362. Consequently I wrote this review first, then copy and pasted the review into the 362VS. So if you see the same review, you know why. For the sake of interest, I am letting this review stand. Here it is:
I previously used a 3x21" Sears. Did the job, but this PC is in a whole different category. Some of the more important features: Positive tracking-when you set the belt adjusting knob, the belt stays adjusted. Some belt sanders creep on you, and require frequent resetting. Annoying to say the least. Also the belt change feature is nice. A simple lever you pull out, then push back in. Quiet-you do not have to wear ear protection to use this. Hearing protection is always a good idea though. It is heavy, but to me this is an advantage. You don't have to push down on the unit, in order to get the job done. To those who mention that you have to keep an eye on the machine, because it can take away too much material too fast, that is because they are using a coarser grit than it required for the task. Finer grades give you more flexibility, and removal is more gradual and even. A belt sander is not designed to replace a finish sander.
With the larger 4" footprint, it is possible to remove a lot of material fast, without digging troughs in the work, which is possible with many belt sanders. Troughs-ridges show in the finished product. For fine finishes that are even and flat, a dedicated planer, then a finish sander, and finally a fine grade of hand sanding will give you the desired result.
The Porter Cable 4" is the best belt sander I have ever used. I would not hesitate to take on a floor refinishing task with this unit. If I was doing it for a living, I would of course persue a walk behind.
This is a no nonsense sander. Heavy duty. Lay it on the board, and hold on. Makes short of a lot of work. Feels like it will last a lifetime. Definitely a leader in the pack, and worth the money. ... Read more
