5-0 out of 5 stars Much better than an abrasive blade chop saw
Clean, fast square cuts that don't get hot. Could use a faster vice.

4-0 out of 5 stars The nicest cuts you've ever seen
The Porter-Cable 1410 is 100 times better than the best abrasive chop saw. However, it's not comparable to a big 3-phase industrial cold saw.At the price, it's an excellent value.

This saw makes beautiful cuts when used properly. You shouldn't crowd the motor, and if the blade produces sparks you're applying too much pressure. The result of hurrying is rapid blade destruction. The saw isn't slow; you just can't run it like an abrasive chop saw.

I'd recommend buying at least one extra blade, so you can rotate blades through the sharpener's without having to have your saw down.

My only complaint is that the first 1410 I bought quit quite suddenly during a project, with fewer than three hours of operation on the motor. This cost me delay of the project, plus most of a day spent driving into Atlanta to the Southeast Porter-Cable repair facility, where they gave me a new saw.(That is, after they told me on the phone they would give me a new saw, then tried to welsh on their offer, and I subsequently intimidated them.)

Even though the box says "Tennessee" on it, the saw is made in Taiwan. That strikes me as a little bit deceptive. But the place of manufacture doesn't really matter where performance is concerned.

The saw would get a full 5-star rating if I hadn't received a lemon the first time out.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good saw, but bad seal and packaging.
In terms of cutting, this saw is great. The tool could use two enhancements. First, the vise does not allow quick changes to the angle setting. If you do not absolutely tighten the two clumsy-to-access angle setting allen screws very very tightly, then firmly clamping in the workpiece can cause the angle setting to stray. Second, I feel the mechanism to hold the saw closed is not in line with the general quality of the tool (especially when you consider the nice carrying handle built into the saw). A cheap thin chain and hook is used. Releasing and engaging the chain leaves scratches on the clear protection shield which presses against the hook. Unfortunately, my saw was delivered with a factory defect, and I had to return it. One of the primary seals on the bearing housing was not installed properly and oil leaked out when I ran the tool for the first time. ... In spite of my enhancement recommendations and assembly defect, there is no mistaking that this tool is a solid piece of equipment.

Update:

The second tool arrived with two problems. First, there was again an oil leak between the inner gear housing and the outer gear housing. The oil leaked out at a rate of about a drop every day and a half. Second, it was clear that the blade had made indentations in the chip pan, causing removal of the pan to be difficult. I believe that both of these problems were the result of a shipping packaging design flaw (thin foam under the base) which fails to protect the tool during shipment.

I decided to go with the DeWalt DW872, which has the features I recommended above. Although the DW872 arrived with no problems, it is clearly not as heavy duty as the Porter Cable. The blade guard is a flimsey flopsey piece of plastic and the noise from the saw is ear shattering.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wish I'd bought one earlier
I really love this tool. After using a 14" abrasive cut-off machine for years, it's a delight to use a saw that cuts so cleanly and precisely, makes few sparks, no smoke or smell, generates very little heat in the work(you can pick up the material and handle it with bare hands almostimmediately), and is well designed. It has a heavy-duty cast iron base, awell-designed blade guard, and feels solid. The only change I would makewould be to add a quick-release vise.I use heavy gauge structural steelpipe and tube (up to 3/8" wall thickness, up to 5" diameter pipe)in my welded sculpture and this machine handles it with ease.Well worththe additional dollars over the cost of a regular abrasive chop saw, especially when you consider blade cost and blade life.Follow directionsand be sure to clamp your work securely before beginning the cut.Let thesaw do the work and don't force it - this will help ensure long blade life. Use only for ferrous metals - this tool is not meant to be used withaluminum, brass, etc.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great replacement for the Abrasive Wheel Saw
Plenty of power, cuts through 1/2 inch thick material like a hot knife through butter! Follow instructions for cutting wide material in order to preserve blade life. This is one of the best buys I have ever made.Thissaw cuts 3 times faster than an abrasive wheel, and smoother than abandsaw.Only wish a larger one was available. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Tough, Versatile, Lightweight & Powerful
This drill is great. I have this and the 2620 3/8" drill and they are the pair of the century. This drill stacked up against every other drill I tried. The only other drill that came close was the Milwaukee, but it was much heavier. I highly recommend this one. The 977510 is tough, versatile, lightweight & powerful.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you need only one tool
If I could take only one power tool with me! Smooth runningand lots of torque. Hammer action also. Handles like a smaller drill, Easy on the arms when working overhead and size allows you to get into places others don't fit. Uses standard shank drills,a plus. We've used ours to anchor Telco equiptment in concrete floors and walls. If you're not careful she'll go right thru the deck.Thats 3" reinforced concrete with a 3/4" masonry bit. Will do wonders thru Mild Steel. We take it on the jobsite and amaze all those guys with Milwaukee or Bosch drills. It would be well worth if it were only a regular drill. 3 Years of service without repairs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Makes Dust of your Masonary!
This is one, beefy gem of a hammer drill. It has plenty of power to handle ANY of your drilling needs and can make a 1/4" hole through a solid red brick (not the morter)in 42 seconds! Whats nice about this drill is that it's compatable with all your standard-shaft drill bits, unlike an SDS hammer drill in which you would need an adapter to use them. Also, SDS bits are more expensive and sometimes harder to find than standard-shaft hammer bits. When the battery in your cordless drill dies and you forgot to recharge the spare, no problem! Plug it in and press on! Most of my application is to set anchors. With it's 2-speed variable control, it provides great control on a variety of surface textures and reduces "walking" away. The maximum size hammer bit I've used to make a hole so far is 5/8" and had no problems making dust out of a reinforced concrete building. I have no doubt it has enough power to make a 3/4" hole... maybe more! The only drawback I have found is that the hi-low speed switch jams sometimes, and you have to rotate the chuck by hand while turning the switch. This is addressed in the owners manual, but it does slow you down. If you have to drill BIG holes in one-shot, fork over a paycheck and get a SDS or Spline-drive hammer. They are great at doing that job. Otherwise, you can make big holes with this beauty by drilling a circle of smaller holes and chisel them out. Porter Cable makes a great, reliable product. This one is no exception. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

It's hard to imagine something really new in the reciprocating saw world, but lo and behold, here it is. The Tiger Claw works just like a standard reciprocating saw, with some major advances. The gear housings, front and back, can be rotated in any direction. Yes, you heard right. No more twisting and contorting--you stay upright and the tool does the Houdini act. The rear gear housing adjusts 180 degrees in either direction with 13 positive stop locations, and the front gear house rotates a full 360 degrees in either direction with 12 positive stops. At the risk of sounding like a late-night TV commercial... but wait, there's more! We've seen blade-change systems aplenty over the years, all of which promise speed and ease. But there is nothing on the market on any tool we've ever touched that begins to rival this Quick-Change system. We changed blades in under two seconds. Really. Everything about this saw makes sense, both for the professional as well as the do-it-yourself homeowner. Well done, Porter-Cable. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Powerful and capable
I got my new Tiger Claw for Christmas and immediately took it out in my shop and chopped up some 2"X 12" white oak joists from an old building deconstruction project. The saw has more than enough power to take the cut as fast as I could force the blade into the beam. It seems to be built for extreme action and is "hell for stout" as my dad used to say. The angled gear boxes are fairly easy to adjust once you get the hang of the rather smallish recessed release buttons. What I have noticed in the few times I have used it is that it does vibrate more than the Milwaukee 11 amp sawzall, so a pair of light leather gloves help dampen it when cutting. It is also heavier, i am assuming because of all the extra gearing. I wouldn't want to spend hours at a time working with it over my head. I am going to mainly use it to trim up and dimension said white oak planks for use in furniture projects. I have lots of nails in this old lumber that are too deeply imbedded to remove, so cutting on my table saw or with a circular saw are too dangerous and damaging to the blades until I get the metal contaminated sections cut out. Perfect job for a heavy sawzall. With being able to turn the blade 90 degrees to the body, I can pull it through the lumber like a big jig saw, thus reducing the effort and fatigue a regular sawzall would cause. Other than the higher level of vibration than the Milwaukee, the only other detraction I could come up with is that the adjustable shoe has too little adjustment. I would like to see at least two more notches added to the three it currently has. This would give more options for cutting thin materials and varying where the blade wears in use. Bottom line: After all the shopping and comparing I did, and finally getting my hands on it, I would definitely recommend this saw to anyone needing a really heavy duty and flexible sawzall.

5-0 out of 5 stars ONE OF THE BEST TOOLS ON THE JOBSITE
I am building my first home. I bought this saw because my yellow and black brand 24volt saw does not last long on a charge. The tiger claw has preformed with out a flaw. The features are unbelivable. Do not pass this one by.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wouldn't send a truck out without this saw
The versatility of this multi angle saw cannot be compared. I have been in construction for 30 years and can say that there have been many difficult situations where we needed a saw like this. In tight spots, this saw can do it all. It is easy to adjust, plenty powerful, good quick-lock mechanisim.

We go through our share of recip. saws in the plumbing/heating business. They don't last forever and rarely are worth repairing when they can be bought for $140. But at around $200., this is no 'disposable' unit...so I reserve judgement on durability. We will probably use 'disposables' for open field cutting and demolition. But, I will never be without a TigerClaw again.

3-0 out of 5 stars Problems with the 9740 Tiger Claw
The Tiger Claw is a great innovation amongst reciprocating saws and we have tried most of them. The saw has ample power, the problem is the reciprocating shaft, we have had to replace 2 of them with in a 60 day span. We are an Auto Recycling business and yes the saw is operating under cruel curcumstances such as cutting Qtr Panels and other metal parts on cars and trucks. This is where I give the Tiger Claw well earned praise for performance. I agree with the other reviews in that a year from now Porter-Cable will have fixed the problems and will have an awsome portable reciprocating saw.

3-0 out of 5 stars BEAUTIFUL TOOL
What i liked-
1.) the obvious innovation of the new positioning system..
2.) the trigger button is more durable that the Milwaukee super-sawzall
3.) 11.5 amps is a lot of power

what i didn't like-
1.) in order to rotate the blade to a new position, you have to press that M-A-S-S-I-V-E button
2.) it's not safe to struggle to press that button and rotate the blade at the same time

what i found interesting-
the plumber has some good insights... this is very useful for plumbing.. so many tight corners in plumbing

CONCLUSION-
i would wait until next year when they make the improvements...it's gonna be awesome when they fix it

CONGRATULATIONS-
P-C has a pretty tool to go along with their table saw and their nice smelling palm nailer... trust me, they put something on it to make it smell great.. Y-U-M-M-Y ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best jig saw out there
I own a Rockwell bayonet saw, it is exactly like the Porter-cable part for part. As you know Rockwell doesn't make these anymore and hasn't for years. The one I have is at least 30 years old. Works PERFECT. IF, for any reason I have to ever get another jig saw, I would definately get a Porter Cable Bayonet saw hands down the best most heavy duty saw you can possible purchase. Worm drive and oil lubricated they will last forever.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great guide - but NOT FOR the 890 Series PC router
Somewhere on the Amazon website I read that this guide would fit the 890... It will once I drill and tap a couple of new holes... Caveat Emptor!

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect
I purchased this to use with a Porter-Cable 7539 Router, it fits perfectly, and should fit any of the listed routers perfectly as well. I had used a friend's craftsman router with the stock edge guide for it, it worked ok, but after using this one there's no comparison. This edge guide is incredibly light weight and considering how long is it is doesn't unbalance the router at all. (Admittedly I'm using a really heavy router). It's also very accurate and is easily adjustable. Even the micro adjuster works really well. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars very pleased customer
My father was a very talented woodworker who was self taught, over the years he made some beautiful pieces using porter cable tools. Just before he died after fighting cancer for five years he wanted to buy me something that I could use around the house and also I could remember him when I used my tools. He bought me a Double Insulated Profile Sander Model 444 this was in 1996 I still use my Porter Cable Sander today and it is still going strong. Thanks Dad Love and Miss you and thanks Porter Cable Keep up the good work.

4-0 out of 5 stars Will Do What Other Types Will Not
I make furiture and do some restoration work. This sander has been a time saver. I do not know how I would improve it. Others have told me this unit is hard to hold for extended periods, I have not found that to be the case. It cleans up very well. You will find it simple to change profiles and sand paper. Heat build up has not been a problem for me. This is a quality tool that has a fine fit and finish.

1-0 out of 5 stars home improvement disaster
save your money period. had i read the reviews before purchasing this product i'd never made the investment. returning this one asap!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Grab by Plug End
Let me Agree with all the other negative reviews. And add SHAME ON PC. Now back to my title. Of all the crummy tools that I have ever bought this one takes the least prize. So of all the clunks this one goes with me to the highest point of my shop roof and whilst holding it by the plug end twirl it rapidly over my head and hope it makes orbit. If not orbit at least it's out of my shop and not taking up space, or tempting me to waste even one small piece of sand paper.
I MEAN THIS THING IS J U N K!!

1-0 out of 5 stars There are better profile sanders available
Like many others I purchased the Porter Cable profile sander on the reputation of the company. I owned it about two hours before I returned it.
The tool is powerful enough though rather bulky. The problems with the sander stem from the poorly designed profile material and the pressure sensitive adhesive used to hold the paper to the profile.
The profiles are made of the same rubber your mother hated for putting black marks all over her kitchen floor.
At least she could remove the marks. Ever try to get a rubber mark off bare wood in a tight place?
With profile sanding it is a given that the sandpaper is going to be fit to a small contour or a point and therefore will wear out or clog very quickly.
With this sander quickly literally means seconds!
It is an enormous waste of time and sandpaper to change paper after every 30 seconds of use.
Machines should be time savers, not trouble makers.
Dremel makes a profile sander that is much easier to use. The profiles do not make black marks as the paper does not wear out so quickly. The paper is industrial quality cloth backed which helps greatly.
The paper is in the form of a hollow sleeve attached only by the form of the profile.
You simply pop the profile off the machine ,roll the sleeve a little and pop it back on. Ah fresh paper cuts so well!
Like the other reviewers I own other Porter-Cable machines which I like very much. PC circular saw,the router/plunge router combo,4" x 24" belt sander and a biscuit joiner.

Please save yourself the trouble and frustration of the Porter Cable profile sander.
If someone gives you one as a gift, smile, thank them, and as soon as you can sell it! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Factory-Reconditioned Porter-Cable
To start with it was boxed with oil in it and just the dip stick no plug, So needless to say when I got It the box was soaked and the reservior was empty, the manual was also oil soaked .The cage had been repainted and overspray was on most of the labels, the data plate with the S/N and P/N was just about unreadable. One of the feet was ripped off and the cage was twisted. The box was nowhere near adequate for something that heavy it had several 3"-4" rips from it sliding around in the box.needless to say I was vary disappointed in Porter-Cable. I patched the box and sent it back and ordered a new Makita. ... Read more

Porter-Cable's 12-inch dovetail machine is a great, sturdy little tool, perfect for smaller (desk-drawer-size) projects. The machine sports a self-aligning edge guide and built-in slots at the base for mounting the device to your favorite workbench or table. Keep in mind, this is a machine designed to handle stock no wider than 1 inch (1/8 of an inch is the minimum). Setup is super easy--we were cutting dovetails in 30 minutes after opening the box. The results? Fantastic, beautiful, tight-fitting joints! If you're a woodworker ready to explore the fancy and fun world of dovetailing, Porter-Cable's machine is the perfect introduction. --Jon Groebner ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Adequate, depending on your needs
I bought this 3 months ago and have been using it to make drawers. The dovetail is an elegant joint.

I'll start with the negatives. This product is not up to the customary Porter Cable Standards. The bit they give you is mediocre, "high speed steel", not carbide. I trashed it easily on some hard maple. So you will need to buy a carbide bit... Okay, fine, you'll have to get a bit.

The next problem is that the screws used to clamp the material down are made out of cheap metal and strip easily. I had to replace them with a higher quality screw. Having addressed these two issues, the unit works very well.

So in the end, the unit is very functional and you will be able to make nice dovetail joints. I recommend this for the weekend woodworker like myself. If you do any production work or large volume, this will not last. Do yourself a favor and go right to a higher end product.

Finally, I'm really irritated at Porter Cable, particularly chintzing on the bit above. Note that the design of this product is not much different that it was a decade ago so its not like they sunk a lot of money into R&D for this. P-C is gouging the customer on this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just follow the recipe
This is a great little machine for the do-it-yourselfer ... the instructions are clear and the machine is relitively easy to set up. Follow the instructions, and viola, nice, tight half-blind dovetails.
A couple of words of warning though .... the jig comes with a template guide bushing that is to be mounted in your router. If you have a Porter-Cable router w/ a 2" opening, then there is no problem. But if the baseplate of your router is not the P-C size opening (2") then you're not going to be able use the supplied guide bushing and will be left to buy a compatible guide bushing or adapter for your router separately. So measure-up your router's opening and order the appropriate baseplate/bushing adapter at the same time you order your jig.

4-0 out of 5 stars How I picked the PC Jig and How I fixed the knobs
First of all let me say that I think it's a great idea to get a sub $100 half blind DT jig. You will do lots of drawers, boxes, etc with it, it will teach you about dovetails, and it will still complement a through dovetail system when you get one later. Here is a list of the Half-blind dovetail systems that I looked at around $100 or less:
Rockler - $70, PC 4112P - $110, HF $30, Jet/Woodstock/Grizzly $70.
I thought the Rockler was nice because it was made well, and you could upgrade it with a through DT template. I also thought that at that price, it should have a metal template standard like all the others.
The price was right on the HF, but the quality of every piece was lower than the other similar jigs. The knobs felt like they would snap or strip very soon. The instructions are also poor.
The Jet/Woodstock/Grizzly are nice and have enough of everything to make most folks happy. It would have helped if I could have seen one.
In the end I went with the PC 4112. It is well built, was recommended by many, and I got it reconditioned for $70 from PC. The things I liked about the PC over the others were the simpler template w/o a back stop to adjust and the easy board offset spacer. The 5/8 template also fits tight in the comb rather than having to hug the left side and then the right as you follow it. The biggest weakness I found was in the board clamps. They aren't that nice or quick, and when you really tighten them down, it can make the bolt start to turn loose as well. I solved this with some cam clamps from Rockler for $12. These make it simple to consistently tighten of each board and make the PC Jig a breeze to use. In summary here are the two things I combined for a very nice Half-Blind Jig:
Porter-Cable 4112P 12" Dovetail Machine - $110
Rockler 1/4"-20 Cam Clamps - $12
http://www.rockler.com/findit.cfm?page=10602
It was a 5 star Jig after the Cams and I wish PC would upgrade to these over the plastic knobs.
Hope this helps! - Erik

3-0 out of 5 stars You'll need a new bit and baseplate
Beyond the cryptic manual, the piece of garbage steel bit that ships with the machine, the T-handles that scrape against the template-holding bolts on 1/2" stock, and the fact that you WILL skin your knuckles on said template-holding bolts (why didn't they do a bolt that screws in rather than nuts on a post that sticks out right at knuckle level?), the biggest omission is that nobody tells you that you need a custom baseplate for your router to hold the bushing if you have a non-Porter Cable router! (The item 'Router Adapter Baseplate' from Woodcraft will work.) So at a minimum you need a new bit and a new baseplate (if you don't have a PC router) to use this jig.

I can't really speak to the quality of the joints because I was making garage drawers out of plywood and there was a certain amount of tear-out when I'd hit a plywood void -- I haven't tried it on solid wood just yet. It'll probably cut decent joints in solid wood, but as many other reviewers have said, fit and finish are not up to PC standards.

3-0 out of 5 stars Are you sure this is Porter-Cable?
I am an avid woodworker and get a great deal of enjoyment out of the process. I value quality which is why I was so surprised with this Jig. With no great need for high production of dovetails and the atractive price, Porter-Cable seemed like the right direction given their reputation. The assembly and manual were straight forward and user friendly. My problems began with the design of the adjustments. The design leaves much to be desired. When making and adjustment for the templit the head of the bolt would back out of the slot resulting in play in the depth. Once you managed to contort you wrenchs and finger into resetting the head it seemed to stay in place. Unfortunatly, the same problem occured when losening the clamps for changing the drawer side. The test pieces were fine so I proceeded to the drawers I intended to make. The first pass was fine, then I changed ends and routed the cut, off by a mile! The bolt had slipped. This happened on so many occasions my frusration quickly outgrew the "value price". The general quality is just not there. The bushing, bolts, dovetail bit, plastic parts and akward and faulty design make me wonder if Porter-Cable had anything to do with this product. Other dovetail machines are more costly and now I know why. I still find it amazing PC would continue to market this product with their great reputation for quality.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good quality for a good price...
Sung to the theme song from Mister Ed:

"A hose is a hose, it sucks it blows"...

Actually this is a well made (and made in America for a change even as P/C makes more and more of their items overseas - hello [local store]?) rubber hose with decent flexability, nice brass fittings and ferrules BUT it's missing the black strain reliefs as shown in the above Amazon picture, I guess somebody at P/C read their accountant's memo. Should hold up as well as the equivalent grade Goodyear hose. Who knows, perhaps even made by them? Shipping speed from order to delivery was reasonable, less than two weeks. It's a good buy at a good price, but it's a "teaser" with the free shipping as you'll have to find something else to tip the [money amount]scale and Amazon has discontinued many of the small inexpensive things - such as Milton Kwik-Change couplers and plugs. Clever. So buy yourself a good book on constuction techniques along with it, or better yet a good book on jokes so the next time somebody uses a nailgun to sink a 16d nail into their foot on the jobsite you'll have something clever to say to lighten up the situation besides "Did you square that shoe before nailing"?

5-0 out of 5 stars hey it's a hose
What can you say, it hasn't failed yet.... should last a long time.

1-0 out of 5 stars Never got it
Well I was in need a good air hose and when you order it you ussualy anticipate resonable shipment, after they got my money they told me that it was damged and it would take unitl feb.( jan 12 is today) who needs an air hose (or any tool) in a month. I guess when the advertise free shipping they forgot to mention the it would be on the back of a mule,

5-0 out of 5 stars Porter Cable Air Hose
Nice hose. Very good stress relief covers at fittings. Outside cover holds up well in abrasive conditions (i.e. rubbing on the edge of roofs & shingles). What more can you say about a hose... it does the job. PS I do like the red color, it makes it easier to grab at the end of the day (everyone I know has yellow or blue lines)

3-0 out of 5 stars Good but incomplete
What can you say about a hose, it is maybe a little stiff but it works. The problem, it came with no fittings. As a novice at the airgun game I expected just to buy a hose and connect it straight up to the compressor and gun which I also purchased at the same time. Make sure when you buy a hose you order the fittings as well - that way you save an extra $6 on shipping and a lot of frustration. I wish someone had told me first. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

With its burly 7 amp motor, Porter-Cable's 3/8-inch drill enters the market as a powerful, smartly designed contender. Backed by 100-percent ball-bearing construction, this drill's motor supplies up to 2,500 rpm, making it a smart pick for high-speed applications. The drill feels right in the hand, too, with good balance, a comfortable grip, and a nicely integrated groove for your thumb and forefinger, so it's easy to operate the tool with your hand directly behind the bit. This drill comes with a keyed chuck, for those of us who prefer to hand tighten bits. A nifty adjustable belt clip mounts to either side, accommodating righties and lefties, and lets you quickly hook the drill to your tool belt when you need to free your hands up, a more comfortable arrangement compared to the top-mounted clips you'll find on other brands. The tool is built to last, too, with a strong, lightweight magnesium bearing plate, steel gears, and a tough cast-aluminum gear housing. There's no secret to creating a solid corded drill. Just build it tough. With its new line of corded drills, Porter-Cable certainly did that. --Jon Groebner ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A great high-speed corded drill
The Porter-Cable 2611 is quite possibly the best high-speed corded drill on the market. It has a very powerful and smooth-running motor. The fit-and-finish of the tool is the best that I have seen for any drill--period. The ergonomics (balance, grip, ease of operation, etc.) are superb. Drilling/driving at low speed takes a little practice, but is quite manageable. However, the drill really shines in high-speed drilling applications, such as pocket-hole joinery. The Porter-Cable 2611 is a rock-solid, high-performance drill. The only serious competition is the Milwaukee model that is in the same class.

3-0 out of 5 stars Tremendous power, BUT!
The P-C 2611 is a very strong drill and has demonstrated it's willingness to bore through various materials with vigor. However, this is supposed to be a variable speed drill and it has so little feel or touch at slow speed that I had the trigger switch replaced by a P-C authorized service center. No difference. Trying to use it as a driver is frustrating as it's too difficult to develop and maintain a controlled speed appropriate for driving screws. Lots of willing power for drilling but if I were just using it to drill I would have bought the 1/2". Weight is well balanced and of course construction is top notch. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Porter Cable 18 1inch crown stapler
I just bought this tool locally about 2 months ago and I have to say no problems to speek of. I am used to my Senco brad nailer being so quiet and smooth compared to this little thing sending out a big crack when you pull the trigger, I guess I'll get used to it. All in all the gun feels good in my hand and all the controls are well placed. You can't go wrong for the price. Wish I could give it 4 and half stars.

3-0 out of 5 stars Know its limitations
I recently used this tool to staple a screen mesh under the eaves of my house. When shooting staples downward, it worked fine. However, it did have significant problems when used to shoot staples upward as the staples tended to fall down in the holder and they would not always advance or they would often cause the stapler to jam.

One jam ultimately completely froze up the tool and I had to return it. Also, the design of the staple holder could be better. It was very difficult to close at times and often became stuck open requiring disassembly of this portion of the tool.

I attribute most of these problems to shooting staples upward however.

If you will use the stapler often, I would go for the higher quality/cost model.

4-0 out of 5 stars My first air powered tool
I have to say that this PC air gun is fantastic. Easy to set up, a dream to use, what more can one ask for. Accurate placement of the fastener you are setting and surprisingly quiet operation make this tool ideal for indoor use. I would give it five stars, but since it is my first experience with air powered tools, I will back off my initial enthusiasm somewhat. A great tool. ... Read more
