Amazon.com Review

The 3727 random-orbit sander--one of the new breed of Bosch sanders--has at its heart Bosch's dual ball bearing and die-cast-base pad-dampening clutch. This system works to make the sanding pad rotate and orbit gradually as pressure is applied to the work surface. Aside from being a mouthful, this system is supposed to help materials achieve a "swirl-free finish"--and it does. Several orbital sander manufacturers are promising a swirl-free finish from their sanders, but Bosch comes the closest to meeting that promise. The 3727 adjusts from 4,500 to 12,000 opm (orbits per minute), with a variable-speed dial that's convenient to adjust but positioned to prevent accidental speed changes. In testing, we found this to be an exceptionally stable sander that never felt wobbly, even at full speed. This is a performance feature that should make the Bosch especially appealing to solid-surface finishers and Coreon-top installers. And, as with all of the new Bosch tools we've tested, this sander is comfortable to use. Front and rear handles are ergonomic and seem to fit naturally to the hands. The tool runs quietly and without much vibration, all of which means less user fatigue--an important consideration for production sanding applications. Although we didn't get to crank up the 3727 on any really large jobs, we definitely got the feeling it could cover a lot of ground. This Bosch is designed with pro use in mind, and that's reflected in the price. Although it's one of the most expensive sanders in the class, pros and do-it-yourselfers alike will find that extra money well spent. --Mark McDonald ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars What a sweet tool!
Bosch ergonomic engineering strikes again! With a 6" pad, and having read 2 reviews that noted that this sander was "hard to control", I was ready to wrestle with a monster. Bosh! Whoever found this hard to control is either in the world's top 10 wimps, or, more likely, they were running it at too high a speed for the grit they were using. If you match the speed (it's variable speed for a reason), it is unbelievably smooth, while sanding 40% more area than a 5" sander. If it's hard to control, reduce the speed (higher grits, slower speeds). Most of time I run this beauty with one hand, while it sands almost as fast as my belt sander. And the dust control is incredible, with just the bag. With a hookup to a vacuum, there would hardly be any detectable dust. One of the best tools I own, and I own way too many.

4-0 out of 5 stars A well-designed sander
Bosch is known for producing fine power tools and the 3727 DVS is no exception. It is smooth, comfortable and relatively quiet, especially at the lower speed setting (78 db). Even though I recommend this sander, I did find some minor problems with it that I think are more a problem with quality control than design. Specifically, the backing pad was of poor quality (not perfectly flat) which I thought caused some wobble as well as quick paper wear. The ergonomics are excellent. The tool fit very comfortably in both hands or one. It was well-balanced and the option of using the main handle in one hand and the front handle in the other allowed for exceptional control. For light sanding, or just to switch your hands to a different position, the rubberized pad on the top of the sander was very comfortable. The controls are well placed. I found the integrated dust collection system to work very well with either paper or cloth bag. Amazon's accessory list is inaccurate. The actual vacuum adapter for it is model #RS006, which they do not list, and which goes from the oblong port to a 1 inch hose. The adaptor they list is to go from a one inch hose to a 2 1/2 inch vac hose.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great sander.
I teach high school Wood Fabrication and Manufacturing and I have two of the Bosch 3727 Random Orbital Sanders in my shop. I have used other random orbital sanders in the past, like Dewalt and Ryobi, and I found them difficult to hold on too. These sanders are wonderful. They are very smooth, create an excellent finish and are very well balanced and stable. You can easily hold on to them with one hand and keep the sanding pad on the work piece. Definitely the best random orbital sander I've ever used.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great sander!
I have this sander at home and it does an amazing job. I have a Fein vacuum that, when connected to the sander, makes it pretty much dust free. The sanders own dust bag does a good job too but hooked up to the vacuum you really get spoiled.

If you work in a wood working shop everyday the sanders to get would be the Fein 8", 6" and a pneumatic 5" or 6". The Fein has a lager throw so it sands off more with each pass than the Bosch with the same grit paper.

The Bosch however is easier to control, lighter, very quiet (compared to the Fein), less expensive, and a lot more comfortable to use. I work in a shop making furniture so I do a lot of sanding and I have been very happy with this sander!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awsome piece of equipment
I bought this sander to replace my Dewalt palm sander and I love it. Its a little heavy if your sanding walls or a ceiling but if you're on a flat surface its fine. The paper is a snap to change. This is a truly awesome sander. ... Read more
