5-0 out of 5 stars hassle with part replacement
When I received and assembled the bandsaw, the table had a slight crown. I called Amazon and requested a replacement table, they said one would be sent. However, when checking the tracking of the shipment, it was apparent they had shipped a complete saw. Instead of an item UPS could have left on my doorstep, I had to make arrangements to leave work early to accept delivery of the saw as it was coming freight. Amazon wanted the original saw ready to return when the new one was delivered, however, that would have required complete disassembly of the original saw. Also, the original boxes had been discarded. Amazon then said to just have the freight driver wait while the new saw was unpacked, the part removed, and then repacked, something that is unreasonable to ask a freight company to wait for. The freight company agreed to make another stop once everything was repacked. This required another afternoon spent in order to ship it back.

Overall, I'm not sure the savings in purchase price was worth all the extra time and hassle.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Saw
Got my saw a couple of weeks ago. My son (age 14) and I were able to put the saw together, including installing the Riser Block, in less than two hours. In another 30 minutes the saw was pretty well tuned and we were cutting boards!

The saw appears to be very well made. It is solid, and has almost no vibration when running. It is also very quiet, which was a pleasant surprise. The quick-release blade tensioner is also a VERY welcome addition.

We have been working on a number of small projects as well as playing around with resawing and some thicker hardwoods. The saw has never bogged down or hesitated (as long as the feed rate is reasonable). The 1 1/4 hp motor is adequate for all that I have tried to do.

The only suggestion I have is to invest in high-quality blades - the Timberwolf blades make a HUGE difference when resawing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rock Solid Band Saw
I got my band saw a few weeks ago and I have been using it since then. I have to say, that I am very impressed with the quality of the build and the parts. This is a rock solid band saw and every piece of it yells quality. It comes in two big and heavy boxes and you need to assemble it yourself. In my case, it is not a big deal and to some degree, I even prefer to do it, so that I can get a good look at all the parts and details. I ordered the saw with the 6" riser block, the rip fence and roller bearings. It took a few hours to put it together, since I had to build a sturdy platform for it, to mount it on a mobile rack. But once that was taken care of, everything else moved pretty quickly and following the instructions, I put all the parts together and I was in business. I ended up with a saw that stands almost 7' tall and I can easily resaw 12" wide stock. I did some tests with 2x10 stock and I could produce very nice and thin layers. The dust port on the saw is a 4" port and it utilizes a design that I have seen on old Rockwell saws. Overall I am happy with the purchase and would recommend the saw to anybody looking for a nice and powerful band saw. (...)

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm so Impressed
Excellent band saw. I have several hours of work on my saw and I paid close attention to several items.

The blade guides were important for me because without good blade guides I find the quality of curves to suffer.

The blade itself stays very cool. I cut 14 intricate pieces of work for a project that took me about 30 minutes to complete and the blade was still cool to the touch. This is important to me because hot blades mean duller blades and more blade breakage.

The 1 1/4 horses serve up the perfect amount of power. 4.5" thick maple cut like butter, even with the factory blade.

The dust port is 2 1/2" with a coupler to convert it to 4", no big deal in my opinion, dust is minimal with band saws.

The saw is steady without vibration but I did have to make adjustments to get it perfect. Something I had to do with a more expensive band saw and something I expect to do with any tool.

The saw came in with the motor mount bent (something I have noticed in other reviews). I took it out and straightened it up and I'm going to go back and add 1" MDF to it to add strength to it. The motor is spot welded to the brace so be careful if yours is bent not to put a lot of force on the motor for straightening. I might take my motor into Jet and have them weld it better. It is just something for safety reasons and a peace of mind. Even though I swear this is a wonderfully built saw. You'll be extremely satisfied.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't get what is advertised for 6-8 months!
Just purchased this model. When I opened up the boxes I found that the tool came with a 2" dust collection port instead of the 4" port as advertised. A call to Jet technical support let me know that the 4" dust collection models will not even start to be manufacured for another 6-8 months! the first 1200 units shipped out from the factory will havr the 2" dust collection port just like the basic 708115K model. I was told that if I wanted the 4" dust collection port, I should get the Powermatic 14" model that costs an additional $200.

If you want the 4" dust collection as advertised, you'll have to wait a while, or find another bandsaw. ... Read more

The two precision-ground, cast-iron wings set this saw apartfrom average contractor-style saws with steel wings. Heavy-dutycast-iron trunnions support the sealed ball-bearings' blade arborhousing for a smooth performance with minimal vibration. JET also usestotally enclosed fan-cooled motors, preventing overheating and dustinfiltration and resulting in longer motor life and less risk of a firehazard than with open motor housing. The stand for this saw is made ofa tougher-gauge metal and has a 4-inch dust port for easy connection toa dust collector. Another user-friendly feature is the quick-connectelectrical plug right at the saw, meaning you don't have to search outthe wall socket prior to every blade change. JET has also located theon/off switch at the top left for easy access when a quick shutdown isrequired. A change in the hole pattern on the fence rails means leftiescan now shift the set to their preferences. The fit, finish, and use ofa more durable powder coating instead of paint will make a proud ownerof every user--from the beginner who wants to learn with confidence tothe seasoned pro who doesn't have space for a full-size cabinet saw.--Nancy Gleason ... 5-0 out of 5 stars JET 708300K / JWTS-10CW2-JF 10" Table Saw with 2 Cast Iron W
This saw was perfect right out of the box. No adjustments necessary. I also like the fence. I recently completed a full kitchen load of cabinets and the fence stayed accurate all the way through. As a matter of fact, I only had to adjust the fence once (when I first got the saw) and haven't had to touch it since. Someone mentioned on one of the ratings that the blade guard has to be removed in order to change the saw blade. NOT SO! I don't know where he is going wrong. You only need to crank up the blade up to its deepest cutting position and remove the insert. Very easy. If you are in the market for a contractors style saw, you can't go wrong with this one. Also, worth mentioning is the great Jet Service available. They will take any question you have and treat you with respect. This company is known for their service, so that should come as no surprise.

5-0 out of 5 stars Jet Contractor Saw is a winner
After much searching, both in local stores and on the internet, I finally decided on the Jet JWTS-10CW2-JF 10" table saw. I ordered the saw on a Saturday and it arrived the following Wednesday. I took my time to unpack and assemble. Total time about 6 hours. A helper was a definite plus.

Not a part was missing, and not a part was extra. The nuts and bolts were sealed in separate bags that corresponded to the assembly steps. The fit of the units was perfect. The manual could be a little better, with a few more illustrations, but overall, it was adequate to the task. The saw blade was parallel to the fence/mitre slot from the factory.

The saw has a very stable, well machined feel. The cast iron table and extensions fit together accurately. The Jet Fence is easy to adjust and seems very accurate. After finishing the assemble, I was amazed at the sound of the saw in operation. Much quieter than I expected. Both crosscuts and rips were smooth and effortless. The included saw blade was adequate.

The overall fit, finish and appearance of this Jet saw is professional. I could have spent more money on a table saw, but I don't think the additional cost would have been commensurate with the additional abilities. Like most, I am on a budget and was looking for the most bang for the buck. This saw met all my requirements.

If you are looking for a contractor's saw that is a cut above the saws available at Sears, Home Depot or Lowes, without breaking the bank, be sure to check out the Jet JWTS-10CS2-JF 10" contractor's saw. I know I have not been disappointed.

4-0 out of 5 stars 4 stars with Jet Fence - 5 with Xacta II
This was my first Jet purchase.
Runs very good. I never liked the Jet fence though, it seems a little short and I wish it had more support on the outfeed side.
I ended up buying a xacta fence II which is made by HTC. Was like night and day.
This functions almost like a cabinet saw, at least in my dreams with these additions:
I replaced the v-belt with a link belt which made the saw quite and a bit smoother. I also replaced the manufacturer supplied trunion bolts in the saw with the PALS (Precision Alignment System) which allows you to micro adjust your blade's alignment.

Assembly as all my Jet purchases have been a breeze. Until it's time to align the belt and apply tension to the belt. That is the tricky part with a one-man assembly.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Saw
I ordered this saw through Amazon. Assembly and instructions were pretty easy. I used a straight edge (that's used to check
engine blocks & heads) for setting the wings and they are right on. I switched it over to 220, the saw has cut everything I threw at it with like butter. Problem still unresolved, the pivot pin for the miter gauge was missing. Call Jet and since I bought it from Amazon, I have to get parts through Amazon. So far it's been over 2 weeks and still no part. Was going to order the Jet Jointer but after the fence deal I bought it from a local Woodcraft store. Other then that I'm happy with the saw.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best contractor saw available!
I am a 17 year-old woodworker, and I have had my Jet 10" contractor saw for a little over a year now, and it has performed amazingly. I wanted to get a cabinet saw but I barely had enough money to get a contractor saw. After doing some research i decided on getting a Jet table saw with its nice powder coating paint, and its nicely polished cast iron top. This saw cuts nicely and is pretty quiet, and I love the sound of the saw, especially when the blade break stops the blade. I made a 4'x5' outfeed table, And just recently purchased a 40" Biesemeyer home shop rip fence, and now the saw is just perfect, I can cut a full sheet of plywood all by myself effortlesly. When I first got it I added a power-link belt which dramatically cut down the vibration, One day ill get a cabinet saw, but for noe this saw does the perfect job, good investment. ... Read more

Weighing in at a rock-solid 500 pounds, this 20-inch band saw tops JET's line with high-quality construction and big resawing capacity without a huge price tag. This saw's most prominent benefit is the one-piece, dual tapered column design, which offers superior rigidity and strength, minimizing vibration and keeping cuts clean, smooth, and accurate. Woodworkers in the know will also appreciate the inclusion of roller bearings on both the upper and lower guides, with dual roller bearings on each side of the blade and a single bearing behind the blade for back support. The system greatly reduces the friction inherent in stationary and European guide systems while providing more support. The saw is powered by a single-phase, 2-horsepower, totally enclosed, fan-cooled motor and has a blade speed of 3,450 sfpm. There's a large cast-iron worktable (21 by 21 inches) that tilts 45 degrees to the right and 10 degrees to the left. This model also comes with a JET rip fence and a good miter gauge. The saw's maximum cutting height is 12-1/4 inches, and the upper blade guide uses a smooth and precise rack-and-pinion adjustment mechanism. This tool's versatility just keeps on going, accommodating 150-inch blades from 1/8 to 1-1/2 inches wide for equally smooth curve cutting or resawing. JET puts the finishing touches on the saw with two locking cabinet doors and the durable powder-coated finish found on all their shop tools. In all, we think serious woodworkers will really appreciate the high quality JET is able to deliver for such a low cost. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars bad from the start
they said the saw was ready for shipping, and after numeruos calls we finally received it in 4 weeks. The shipping was horrible-ABF claimed they were sending a truck with a lift. The driver calls 15 min. before he gets here and tells me I need a fork lift. The setup was ok at first, untill you put a real blade that cuts in it,then all the problems begin.Jet claims it will accept a 1 1/2" blade as long as you don't mind spending 4 hours trying to set it up,and then find out it rubs on the frame. The motor is mounted on a plate that is to small for the weight of the motor, which seems to help in the vibration!I've had the saw about 4 months and nothing but problems. Two of the lower bearings are going bad.The dust collection design is horrible.Jet says that most things are factory adjusted, then you find out about every thing on it is misaligned or just plain loose! The bottom line is if you have a lot of time on your hands for fixing and adjusting, this is the saw for you.Whoever engineered this saw should actually test their design and see how flawed it is!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the serious woodworker...
An excellent bandsaw. Vibration-free, powerful, ready to go out of the box. The best feature is the fact you can crank the guides up and down WITHOUT having to re-adjust them every time. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the 1" blade that it comes with is next to useless. It looks like a blade, feels like a blade, but doesn't cut like a blade. I didn't even get half way thru cutting up the shipping crate before it was mauling, not cutting, the wood. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my new bandsaw.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hidden charges
Others have commented on the quality of this saw (comments with which I agree, by the way), so I thought I'd mention some useful information about purchasing this item through Amazon.

The most annoying thing about this purchase was the fact that Amazon promotes their free super saver shipping on this saw quite prominently on the web page, but what that includes is only the ABF Freight Systems truck pulling up to your location. Unless you have your own forklift or a loading dock, you are going to have to pay an additional charge (of $92) to get them to take it off the truck for you. Make sure to mention to the ABF folks when they call to make an appointment to deliver the saw that you have neither of these things and need them to deliver the item on a liftgate truck. (Or they will have to bring it back another day, as they had to with mine.)

I feel that Amazon should be more up front about the additional shipping charges and that their Super Saver Shipping and low standard shipping charges are not the whole story. It's definitely left a sour taste in my mouth, and I'll probably order my next big power tool from somewhere else.

Anyway, it's a great saw, and I'm glad I've finally got it. :-)

5-0 out of 5 stars New generation quality
Jet did themselves and all woodworkers a favor when they upgraded the 18 inch band saw and developed the new generation family of professional bandsaws. I had purchased a 14 inch band saw from Harbor Freight, It was really very good for the price,
But not what I needed in my fast growing wood shop. After much shopping and comparison, I decided on the Jet new generation 20 inch bandsaw. It has by far exceded my expections in all areas,
setup, operation, controls, safty, ease of use and accuracy. The standard equipment on the Jet, is optional on others.
The Jet 20 inch bandsaw is a great piece of equipment, and a good investment,, .. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

More stable than an open-stand table saw yet compact enough to fit in small shops, JET's Supersaw incorporates a host of great design features and is clearly built with the needs and wants of serious home woodworkers in mind. It has a 1-3/4-horsepower, totally enclosed, fan-cooled motor located inside a fully enclosed cabinet with a hinged access door. This configuration protects the motor from dust damage, provides great airflow toward the dust collection port, and offers a more compact profile than the saw's main competition.

The Supersaw's heavy cast-iron table measures 21-1/4 by 27 inches. There's also a sliding table and an extra wing, which, when added to the main table, give a total work area of 1,127-1/4 inches. We have yet to see another saw in this price range that can match that. The sliding table offers better crosscutting accuracy than miter gauges and allows up to a 28-inch capacity. It's 14 by 27 inches and rides only 4 inches from the blade. Keeping this distance small reduces unnecessary friction caused by sliding the work. The sliding table also includes a heavy-duty miter fence with a large, easy-to-read scale, a cam-action lockdown, and large, comfortable handles. When you don't need the sliding table feature, it locks solidly in place.

Included with this new saw is JET's new Micro-Glide fence, which offers superb accuracy and reliability as well as a magnified cursor that makes fine-scale readings easy and a microadjustment feature that lets you dial the fence in to precisely where you need it without any clumsy tapping and bumping back and forth. The fence also has four built-in T-slots to accommodate jigs. Another cool idea is the power switch housing, which rides in a slot under the fence rail, allowing the user to decide where the switch should be located. The off switch is conveniently huge for easy shutdown in an emergency, and there's a power indicator light and a handy reset switch.

All this, and we still haven't mentioned the left-tilting blade, the smooth action of the hand wheels, the durability of the powder-coated finish, or the handy built-in padded storage racks on the side of the cabinet. There's even a cool new clear blade guard with independently moving sides so the blade is always visible and never exposed--even when bevel cutting. Considering this saw's innovations, JET's rock-solid engineering, and an unbeatable price, we think any small-shop woodworker would be wise to invest in the Supersaw. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Great design, poor quality control & customer service
I really like the design of the saw but the quality control and customer service leaves a lot to be desired. The sliding table box was missing the hardware kit, the little bag of nuts & bolts to attach it. I called Jet 3 weeks ago and they promised to send a replacement, but today they say the parts are back-ordered and it will be *another* 4 weeks. And the fence locking handle broke right off under normal hand pressure! Not only are fence handles back-ordered for at least 4 weeks, but the ones that are due in are all spoken for already. Apparently they've been breaking a lot of them and I'm not expecting the replacement to be any more durable. It's going to be at least 2 months from the time I bought the saw until it's actually usable! This seems like a great design and that's why I've given it 3 stars but I'm really disappointed in Jet's low quality and poor service.

5-0 out of 5 stars Table Saw Heaven
Four and one-half stars actually.

I clicked my way to table saw "almost heaven" on Amazon.com. Bottom line is that the Supersaw compares very favorably with the best Swiss technology (my other saw is a 10" Inca). Sure, there are a couple of somewhat minor shortcomings (fence), but the all cast-iron construction gives quiet and smooth operation that has to be seen and heard to be believed. Smoooooooth

The sliding table makes me smile each time I use it. It's relatively easy to setup with the shim kit provided. Easy, except for mounting it on the table all by yourself, wouldn't recommend that unless you're too excited to wait for a friend to come over and help.

The miter assembly consists of a sliding fence, a hold down, and a flip stop. It is slick and well built, no cost cutting here

Pluses:
The work surface is a perfect size, big enough for all of my work, yet not too bulky. The saw moves around easily on the Jet Industrial Duty Mobile Base while staying VERY stable (only 25 bucks after the Jet $50 rebate).

Minuses:
The fence is not flat, not even close. Laid it on the table for use as a straight edge as instructed in the manual; it rocks like a hobbyhorse. Contacted Jet, they told me I had to go through Amazon for a warranty replacement. I told them that's fine, I'll just send the whole saw back to Amazon. Then Jet agreed and sent me a new fence. It's only slightly better than the old one, at least it is easier to lock the new one down solidly. I will learn to love the fence, I hope, because I'm stuck with it, the rails support the sliding table, and any aftermarket fence would have to be very extensively modified to fit.

The right table extension has a sharp 90 degree edge on the front, it ought to match the nice bevel on the main table.
The threads on the miter hold down were defective, Jet sent a new one.

The blade-guard-splitter-anti-kick-back is where every American style saw falls down, I guess. I'm too accustomed to the Swiss style overhead guard with no anti-kickback, that's a sweet setup.

The anti-kick-back-pawls on the Jet are sharp enough to cut you, and the spring is built for STRONG, I hate it almost as much as the fence.

Overall, I love this saw, especially the sliding table. At this price, I am willing to put up with the fence.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Value in a Table Saw
I have owned my Supersaw for about 4 months now, and must say I am totally pleased with it. It shipped to me in about 6 boxes, was very easy to assemble, and the fit and finish is superb. It saws anything I have asked it to saw and has never bogged down. I especially love the sliding table, always wanted one of those. I get no vibration, it is reasonably quiet, and has every feature I was looking for in a new table saw. Woodworking is a hobby for me, and the SS does such a great job I find time spent woodworking a real pleasure now. I ordered three blades with my saw, an all purpose, a ripping blade, and a cross cut blade as well. I have ripped up 300ft of wide red oak 4/4 lumber to make T&G flooring,I have cross cut the ends as well, as this was rough sawn lumber I had to plane and joint. My saw has done a superb job. I have done other things but the long rip lengths had to be the toughest task I have put the saw through.
I have no problems with the fence; I am guessing Jet has cured that problem. The tech reps tell me via phone that I don't need a spare timing belt, as that problem has been corrected via a change in belt suppliers. I find nothing to complain about with this saw. I got the 52" fence, with sliding table and mobile base. It all functions perfectly. You need some help in assembly to lift the saw body from the pallet, or use an engine hoist as I did in my garage, with a tow strap. I had to get my son to help with the sliding table, I felt it was too heavy and did not want to risk scratching up the cast iron or fouling the slide assemblies.
I changed my saw to 240V before using it the first time. I think it runs best that way. Pay attention to the numbers on the motor leads, as the color codes were off on mine, but the lead numbering was correct. If I had a gripe that would be it; but that took me only a moment to figure out anyway. They even stick the extra wire nut you will need to do the conversion onto the inside of the motor wiring cover.
The big switch on the front rail is very nice, especially nice to be able to reposition it as needed. My fence works perfectly. So easy to lock down, I wonder how anyone broke the lever. Simply push the lever down and the fence is locked. Just touch it down; it is that easy to do on my SS. I am guessing the fence I have is an improved version, or the folks making it got their act together. The fence is one of the parts made in USA. The extension table and legs are USA made as well, according to the boxes they all came in.
I did not purchase my saw from Amazon. I cannot comment on their service. In fact, I cannot comment on Jet service period, I have had no issues with this saw. I did call the tech department to ask about the belt, after reading all the posts on this page. I feel confident this problem is corrected now. My saw also collects dust as good as can be expected. I use a Jet DC1100CK and it works very well.

2-0 out of 5 stars GO TO YAHOO and read more
This the third "review" on this product for me. I have read and shared much on the yahoo super saw user group forum. Before spending over $1000 go there to make an informed decision. The day of my second review I had started what ended up to be a three week wait for a replacement timing belt that is integral to raising/lowering the blade. I think a lot of that wait belong to Amazon now that the dust has settled from that experience. With that warranty repair part I gained access to two key 800 type numbers at WMH tool group, the parent of Jet, Powermatic, etc. FYI Amazon purchasers - warranty parts for Jet machines have to be enacted by Amazon. Then Amazon gets WMH Tool Group to ship. This seems a bit convoluted to me, but it is important to someone at Amazon because WMH tells me it is in the contract Amazon.
You can also note on the Yahoo info source a copied comment from WMH stating that problems with the fence are acknowledged, but at this date, when a fix is defined, upgrade parts will available for purchase. (BTW - anyyone out there able to charge $ to their customers for errors on their part? - Just wondering if I'm doing some strinkin thinkin?)
My fence is now exibiting a new problem - perhaps it takes time to wear in - or out - you define. I lock the fence, and begin ripping, and all of a sudden I am ripping a new number -usually wider. Todate this hasn't caused big problems, but sometimes I use high $$ wood, and the profit margin will take a hit if I have to start over. I've read about the fence deflecting, and mine does, but I don't see a problem from this. The handle did break, but that problem is quickly obviously, BUT locking in a "number" and then discovering its changed is a SERIOUS surprise. Lets hope Jet can make this product live up to the name give it - SUPER.

3-0 out of 5 stars re review - edit
I don't know how this will get hooked up to the review that I wrote when I installed this saw, but with 4 months of solid experience there are a few issues.
#1 - ya the fence. It is just not as crisp as the the unifence I an used to. It usually sneaks to the left 1/32 when you clamp home. AND I broke my handle off too. I repaired it myself and that broke as well. I now have a piece of sasafras (sp) epoxied to a bolt screwwed into the fence. I don't thing Jet was after that rustic look, but it works.
#2 - DUST collection - or lack of. My Oneida is a suckin fool, but that sub pan with little holes is the worst! Yesterday the chips backed up into the belt that drives blade height. I was cutting a lot of 1/4" dado's in blatic birch and went to tweek the blade up a skinch and the belt jamed and broke. I had read about the belt breaking, and was being EXTREEMLY careful, but alas I now wait for JET/AMAZON to deliver me a new belt so I can change blade height. I will have to think some about how to fix this issue to keep chips from building up in the blade raiser area. SHAME ON someone at JET!
Sliding table works great. Power is adequater for all I've done thus far. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

While this JET saw beats its closest competitor on price, italso offers some advantages in terms of design and construction.Placing the quick-connect electrical plug right at the saw so the userdoesn't have to search out the wall socket for every blade change isjust one small example of JET's attention to detail. The stand for thissaw is made of a heavy-gauge metal, and features a hinged motor cover and a 4- inch dust port for easy connection to a dust-collection system. Achange in the hole pattern on the fence rails means lefties can shiftthe set up to their preference. The left-tilting arbor is another markin this saw's favor. Tilting the blade away from the fence negates theneed for a sacrificial fence and reduces the risk of the piece bindingunder the blade. This saw's most impressive feature is the smoothaction of the blade height-adjustment mechanism. Not only will userssave their wrists and knuckles, but they'll also save time by being able tocrank the blade to the exact height necessary with vastly fewer testruns for every rabbet, dado, tongue, and groove. Finally, we reallyappreciate JET's use of totally enclosed fan-cooled motors on this andevery other saw the company makes. While this may add a little to the finalcost of the saw, the extra life and reliability this gives the motorsis well worth it. This saw is an excellent choice in its price range.--Nancy Gleason ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Best Tool In My Shop
Upon deciding to set up my own shop, after several years working in another, I agonized over a table saw purchase. My previous shop had a Powermatic 66 and I was concerned that my limited budget would leaving me wanting more saw. Upon receiving and setting up this Jet saw, all of my concerns were gone. It is easily a match for the Powermatic 66 and the Unisaw I worked with previously. It has power, finese, and a great, solid feel. I love the fence, a better-than-Beismeyer copy. The fence's uhmw siderails are beautiful and the sight glass for setting cut width has grown on me in the past couple of months. The fence is very close to the table and I am able to cut the thinnest material. The action for setting the blade height and angle are wonderfully smooth and lock solidly. There is no noticeable vibration (it's heavy tool), and I have not needed to make any readjustments after a couple of months of near constant use. The table is large and was machined flat. The motor is powerful but quiet, the tool is solid. All in all, it is now my favorite tool. And I am nothing but pleased with the purchase.

3-0 out of 5 stars love the saw, not the fence
I spent months trying to decide between the Xacta and the Unisaw. Did I chose right? You be the judge. The saw went together without a hitch. Fit and finish are great and the quality of the table is beyond reproach. The fence, however is another story. The first fence rails arrived smashed at one end. The second set had bumps all over the sliding surface...it was as if dust got on the piece before it was painted. The third set of rails were acceptable, but not perfect. After I mounted the fence to the rails, I found that when I adjusted the front of the fence 90 degrees to the table, the rear did not match. Also, the other side of the fence was not parallel. The fence tube was twisted. Four fences later, I've got the same problem, although to a lesser degree. It's a real shame that Jet has allowed a great saw to be knocked down by a so-so fence, especially when they are going up against the legendary Delta, with the original Biesemeyer fence. Every Biesemeyer fence owner I know says their fence angles are dead on from front to back and side to side. Knowing what I now know, I'd probably go for sure thing, rather than the cheaper thing, since the fence determines the cut of the saw.

1-0 out of 5 stars Ain't no Powermatic
I'm a professional carpenter/cabinet builder working in the field for over 20 years. I've used every kind of table saw out there: Powermatics, Unisaws, Olivers, Grizzleys, Generals, saws without labels, European saws with unpronounceable names, way too many hours pushing wood through a saw. I needed a new saw for a small shop space I'm setting up and picked the 10" jet cabinet saw (JTAS-10XL50.) I figured it was pretty much the same as a Powermatic and would save me $500. I doesn't matter to me who's label is on the front, nor how shiny the top, just how it works.

The first saw I received (after having to bring it the final 300 yards to the shop door from were it was left in the street, so much for the $25 extra delivery fee) was broken. It had been dropped or hit on the bevel-adjusting shaft, which broke off the 90-degree stop portion of the front trunnion. It may have been a shipping problem, but it was caused by improper crating- the shaft had no protection.

Two weeks latter (returns aren't handled with any special urgency) I got another saw. This one has vibrations that come into the saw blade and leave a rough cut. Jet's remedy is to keep taking pieces off and getting replacements from Tool Crib till the problem is gone.

Four days after calling in the replacement of a motor, two pulleys, three belts and some odds and ends Toll Crib still can't tell me when the parts will even ship. When and if the parts ever do arrive I'll be surprised if they fit and even more surprised if there is any improvement in performance.

The saw has another major problem; the fence is junk. The support rails and guild rail all are bent. When bolted together (with the use of clamps) I got them straighter, but then the fence it self is twisted and curved too. It looks like one pass over the jointer would fix it- hard to do with steel.

If Tool Crib/Jet can get me the parts I need to make this thing work well, I will look at it as a mistake, but an old lesson re-learned. If they can't, they are getting it back and I'll buy a proper saw from someone, anyone, else.

Pay extra and buy quality, it will always save you money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best cabinet saw for the money
I decided to start my shop off right three years ago. I sold my old Craftsman table saw and bought a cabinet style shop saw. I looked all around at Delta, Powermatic, Grizzly, General, Shop Fox and Craftsman. When you look at the specs of these machines, there is not a lot to separate them. For me the issue came down to the size of the table, and the quality of the fence. I looked long and hard at the 50" XACTA-fence and I liked it a lot for accuracy and ease of use.
The table and fence of the Craftsman, ShopFox, General, Grizzly and Dewalt simply were not in the same class.
That left the Delta and Powermatic. Without much to separate the Jet over Delta I went with the fact that the Jet does spin at 4200 rpm compared to the Delta's 3450. When cutting dense woods, speed matters.
For those who don't know, Powermatic and Jet are both made by the WMH tool group. They are very similar. I went to a dealer of both tools. He told me there is not enough to separate the two to justify the purchase of the Powermatic! Go figure.
The Powermatic saw does have a bigger table and uses the accu-fence as opposed to the XACTA-fence. Theoretically it's extra weight and finer tolerances will make it easier to keep in tune over the years. But I am just a homeowner hobbyist so the JET is plenty sweet for me. No sense driving an Aston Martin to the supermarket everyday.
When the tool arrived the first thing I thought was thank goodness for mobile bases. At 468lbs, without one, it wouldn't be going anywhere. Also be sure to get the extended mobile base to capture the legs of the extended table.
Assembly was not difficult even with leveling of the melamine table, although having a friend to help was a great boon.
I have had the saw for 3 years, with no problems. I have since bought a Jet 14"floor standing drill press and continue to be impressed with jet tools.
The next question is left tilt or right tilt. I chose left as if you do not run your cuts perfectly, right tilt saws tend to bind. I for one do not always cut perfectly.
Most table saws show their weakness on slow down. The blade begins to wobble. This baby is steady as can be through dead stop. Oh yeah and it is the quietest tool in my shop.
Price paid: about [$$] including 50" extended table, XACTA-fence, 10" CMT blade and mobile base.
Of note this is an even better deal for a limited time right now as Jet is offering the tool at the same price including the XACTA router lift built in and a free Bosch router!
When I first heard this I was steamed, but what the heck I bought the tool three years ago.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great Table Saw with lots of Power and excellent Quality.
This was an upgrade for me from a Rigid contractor-type table saw. This is an excellent table saw that is easy to assemble if you read and follow the instructions. Mine was perfectly aligned from the factory and took me about 3 non painfull hours to assemble ( as a matter of fact, I had a good time doing it because all the parts were there). After that I was practicing and making a few different cuts to try it out with a happy smile on my face. I do use it on an every day basis, and I can tell you that it works great, has plenty of power, it's extremely straight, accurate, comes with a great fence, and it is a joy to use.
If you are not familiar with table saws in general, it would be a good idea to find out more about left, or right tilt table saws. With that in mind, see which is more confortable-convenient for you to use. Keep in mind that this saw has a powerfull 3 HP, 230V electric motor.
I started working with a contractor saw, and 2 years later I bought this Jet model with mobile base, and extension table. Now I notice the difference in power and the quality of my cuts. I am glad I didn't buy a more expensive brand. This is a great saw for the money and it will last you for a long, long time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Accurate, and awesome
I love it!!
Set up, and assembly fairly easy, no problems. blade, and fence alinement, very easy.
Did some shopping around, here where I live, wasn't sure what I wanted... Jet or Delta, The jet was a little cheaper.
I'm not disappointed in the least!!
awesome saw!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Sweet Machine - almost worth 5 stars
I have owned this saw for three years now, and although I'm not a professional woodworker, I still heavily use this saw. I am quite pleased with the quality of both the saw and of the cuts it produces. The addition of a Forrest or Freud blade makes cuts which cut oak or teak perfectly, don't chip melamine, and generally complete out an already well-built machine. Having said that, I wish I'd bought a different saw simply because of a couple of seemingly minor "features" I loathe:

- The blade guard and splitter must be removed from the inside & rear of the saw. This makes non-through cuts a real pain if you regularly use the splitter & guard. Beisemeyer (who makes the Xacta Fence) makes a push-down splitter for Delta saws. This is unavailable on Jet. Why doesn't Jet do something about this? This makes it difficult to make cabinets, etc unless you run without the guard & splitter.

- The dust collection/interior access door is underneath the extension table, making it hard to get at the saw's guts and making otherwise usable storage space unavailable (the Delta Unisaw has an under-table shelf). Next time, I'd get one with the door on the left-hand side of the saw.

Overall, this is a very good saw for the money, and if you don't mind the small gripes I've mentioned, press the BUY button and be prepared to enjoy a solid performer.

5-0 out of 5 stars I want to win
I really want to win this table saw.I own other jet tools including there band saw, dust collection system and jointer,I've always like the quility of the jet brand,And right now i really am in need of a new table saw. thank you very much

3-0 out of 5 stars Good but not great; fence poor
I purchased my Jet saw after reading several reviews on the internet comparing it mostly to Delta saws. It was cheaper than the Delt and came with a dust chute which was extra on the Delta. But when it came time to assemble my saw, I noticed that the front fence rails weren't goint to fit - wrong parts. After 2 months of waiting for replacement parts (I gues a lot of saws went out with the wrong parts), I received the new parts. They were wrong too! I then was sent a whole new set of fence rails. All this took about 4 months after I ordered my saw - good thing I don't make a living with it! Then I went to use it. I couldn't zero the fence to the blade because out of all my rails, I didn't use the one with sloted holes to get enough travel to get the scale to read zero. I had to take off the front two rails and start over. Then I went to put a saw blade on. It wouldn't fit. Arbor was a little too big. Jet told me to just sand it down myself with some sandpaper (while the arbor was turning). That didn't sit well with me. Once I was finally ready to saw my first piece of wood. The tried to adjust the fence and I had to use two hands to pull or push the fence to where I wanted it. My old Grizzly contractors saw has a micro adjust knob and the fence stays parallel to the blade as it is moved. The Jet fence doesn't. Do I spend another more money on a decent aftermarket fence?! On the plus side the 3 HP motor is smooth and powerfull, and the up/down/tilt are solid & smooth. The table top is finished nicely. Overall, I probably should have gotten a Grizzly w/deluxe ShopFox fence for even less $, or the Delta. Internet reviews don't all tell the whole story. I was a bit disappointed. ...

2-0 out of 5 stars Prepare to do modifications and additions
After using the Super Saw for 7 months I have mostly negative observations. The few positive observations simply do not outweigh the myriad negative, thus the two star rating.

First the negative:

1.) The fence is not flat, does not stay aligned, and has a large amount of deflection with even moderate pressure. The deflection problem was noticeable even just after each adjustment. Four adjustments were required in a month and were not noticeably prolonged when the bolts holding the adjustment were tightened very tight. Lastly, I used several precision rules to check the fence for flatness. Enough variation was evident to make me worry. I ended up purchasing the Vega fence and have been quite happy since. I suggest anyone considering this saw do the same.

2.) Dust collection does not work as advertised. After a great deal of searching on the net and several calls to Jet I finally took the plunge and enlarged the holes in the base of the cabinet. Dust collection is better but not great. Considering I have a 1 ½ horse power dust collector 8 feet from the saw, I expected much better results.

3.) Saw table and wings are not flat. Granted, they are not out by much: .005 to .007 at the maximum. But considering what I paid for the saw I expected tolerances to be somewhat higher.

4.) Timing belt broke within the first 3 months. This is the belt controlling blade height. I was surprised at how hard the belt is to get to and was not happy with the quality of parts. I can see this being a problem in the future.

5.) Accessories are hard to come by. In particular, the distance of the miter gauge slots from the saw blade makes 3rd party accessories unusable. For example, I have yet to find a tenoning jig that will fit this saw. Also, my choice of fence was limited by the location of the fence bolts and by the configuration of the saw. My preference was the Incra fence, but the manufacture advised me that it would not fit even thought is advertised as fitting almost any saw.

6.) The blade guard and kickback paws need some work and are hard to remove. In addition, no third party options (that I know of) exist.

7.) Lastly, Jet service is sporadic. Depending on who you are connected with, you may or may not get good information.

On the positive side:

1.) Motor runs well and does every job I have asked of it. Including, cutting 2 ½ inch hardwoods like maple and oak. Just make sure you have a sharp blade.
2.) When you do get a good Jet rep on the phone service is quick.

3.) Saw is quiet and smooth.

I think you can see, considering all the negatives I don't think this saw is a good buy. At some point in the future, when the problems are fixed, it will be worth a look. Until then, stay clear and don't be fooled by a feature list that does not deliver.

4-0 out of 5 stars One Smooooth Saw!
Really 4 1/2 stars.

The all cast-iron construction gives quiet and smooth operation that has to be heard to be believed. Smoooooooth. The motor's power is very good for 120v. The table is dead flat, but the fence is not, not even close. Laid the fence on the table for use as a straight edge as instructed in the manual; wobbles like a hobbyhorse. Contacted Jet, they sent a new one that is just as bad. But at least it locks down better than the old one. However, if you push firmly on the rear of the fence, it moves and stays there.

The cast iron wings have a sharp 90 degree edge on the front, they ought to match the nice bevel on the main table. And a very minor problem: the miter assembly hold-down bolt threads were defective, Jet sent a new one.

The blade guard is well designed except for the anti-kick-back-pawls, they are sharp enough to cut you and the spring is built for STRONG, certain to mar any wood it contacts. Overall, though, the saw makes most work easy and fast. And at this price I'm willing to put up with the fence, it's good enough for now. And if absolute precision is ever needed from the fence, then there are several replacements available.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Saw
For the money this is a good saw. I have to agree with the comments about the dust collection. I have enlarged the holes now it draws fairly well. I stopped at the Jet display at a local wood worker show to ask about a mobile base they said to use the Jet mobile base and some extensions but they weren't quiet sure which extension kit to get. That was a little weird. Other than that I like the saw.

5-0 out of 5 stars A lot of saw for the money.
I looked at the Dewalt and the Jet side by side before deciding on the Jet. I have not had any dust collection problems and I'm using a small (5 gal.) Rigid shop vac. For me, setup took 5-6 hrs. but has been well worth it.The fence works great, the miter gauge is decent. I switched mine to 230 volt. The main table is perfectly flat as far as I can tell, the right wing is
bowed down about .003" and the left wing is bowed up about .003". However, I was not expecting perfection for the money I spent. I have been a professional auto tech. for 27 years and have invested over $30,000.00 in hand tools. If you step onto a Snapon or Matco tool truck and spend $1000.00 you will probably not need any help getting your purchases off the truck. I can give this machine 5 stars based on value alone. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great little timesaver!
I'm not a home improvement enthusiast. Don't know why Amazon put that there. (Stupid!) I'm a hobby machinist.

I compared several different Asian made 5x6 bandsaws. Don't believe it when someone tells you they're all the same.

The Jet was very easy to assemble and use. Very solid base. UL approved motor that is bigger than some other bandsaws have. Nice fit-and-finish.

Some other ones I checked on needed to have additional bracing added due to a flimsy base. I had read about some of the others having motors prone to overheating and meltdown.

Bought mine locally for $249.99. Don't understand how Amazon can charge a $70 premium. Around $250 seems to be everyone's prices except Amazon. $319.99! Ridiculous!

3-0 out of 5 stars Could be better
Problems on assembly:
1) Center hole on cast iron base @ both ends was not centered + did not line up to the leg cross brace. Fix: used air grinder to grind cross brace hole wider.
2) Instructions for the installing the adust. feet were vague. Just says use "provided hardware". Fix: used my incredible powers of observation and deduction to determine what goes where.
3) The leg cross brace opposite of motor has an interference problem w/switch box. Fix: ground the cross brace to form a notch to clear switch box.

Usage:
1) table for vertical cuts is flimsy. Only single support underneath - needs 2. could not level table since there is no adjustment.
2) Adjustment of eccentric bearing requires a thin wrench to fit between bearing + support casting.
3) The blade covering has to be put on "just right" otherwise interference with the stop bolt occurs.
4) When moving the miter vise plate, the hold down bolt interferes w/the screw that holds the scale strip. Loosening the bolt enough will get past the interference unless the angle you want is right where the interference occurs.

In general:
The motor has enough power for cuts. I've been cutting 4130 .125 steel and the motor never bogged down. Horizontal cuts is this machines best use. vertical cutting leaves a lot to be desired but this could be because the blade's tooth pitch did not match up to the metal type. But,as stated above, the table doesn't help.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little tool
This is a great tool for cutting metal. Works as well as expected. Requires few adjustments. Just setup and go. I really like mine. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Great Saw ... But...
Don't get me wrong, I love Jet Tools, in fact I have a Jet planer, bandsaw, dust collect, jointer, Spindle Sander, .... and they are a great value for the price as compared to other manufactures. So when I decided to upgrade my old worn out Craftsman, and I order this super saw from Amazon. It assembled perfect, and runs perfectly. The fence is certainly a dream to use when compared to my old craftsman fence, but I wanted to upgrade to an Incra fence, and I found out that it will not work on my Super saw and when I called Incra. They don't have plans to fix the design to work on this Jet TS. Another complaint, is that the miter slot on the left side of the blade, is an inch and a half farther from the blade. My Delta Tenion Jig is too far away from the blade to use. So I called Jet, and they are aware of this, and they do plan to make available a plate that you can adapt to your Tenion Jig, but that won't be until later this year. Still for the price and the value I do love my super saw, but if you want to upgrade to a different fence, it may not adapt. I do appreciate Amazon for allowing everyone to submit comments. It has helped me so much in my decision on what tools to buy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Reminds me of a foreign car!
Ordered the Supersaw in early December and it finally arrived in mid-January. The Fed-X guy came with a lift gate truck and a pallet jack. Delivered it to my garage in 2 minutes. There it sat!! The mobile base was on back order so I left it on the pallet. Couldn't wait to use it so I added the wings and fence and ripped a 2X6 pine just about as fast as I could feed it. Have a WW2 blade and the edges were smooth. Crosscut was right on the 90 degree mark. Easy to assemble and no adjustment needed. Got the mobile base about 3 weeks after the saw arrived.

Fit & finish is good. The wings have a few finish problems, but nothing other than cosmetic.

Dust collection is great even with just using a shop vac. My new Jet 1100CK dust collector is also on back-order. But, that's another story.

Now about the foreign car part. I suspect parts may be hard to get for a while. Sorry to hear there may be a problem with the timing belt. I have confidence the engineers will correct this since this machine seems to be very well engineered. Caution, everything except the scale on the rip fence and the table slots are metric. The T slots on the fence are tiny. Won't accept the standard 1/4" nuts. Had to use 10x24 nuts to attach the router fence to the rip fence.

If you're thinking about installing a router table in place of the right table wing, think hard. I did it, but it wasn't easy. Had to make sure the router table wasn't too thick because there is a ledge on the front rail of the rip fence that makes it so you don't have 27" of clearance all the way between front and rear rails. Also had a devil of time getting M-10x30 allen head cap screws to use when attaching the router table. Hardware stores don't carry anything larger than M-8.

I hope to get a lifetime of enjoyment(or at least 20 years) from this set-up. Love the way it sounds when it starts up. The capacitors on the motor cause it to purr like a Lexus entering an expressway. And the lights don't dim!

1-0 out of 5 stars I cant rate this because of poor service
I received parts of this saw two months ago. Missing was the fence, rails, left wing extention and accessory package box. I wrote Amazon and slowly over the next month I received the fence, rails and fence. The accessory package box did not come. I have now asked for it, clearly, 5 times. Each time Amazon replies very politely with, it's been ordered by our parts department, it will be there in 7-10 days. Each time 7-10 days go by and nothing. Last week I received a plastic envelope with 8 bolts and a plastic knob. Inside of this I found a receipt from Jet and a telephone number. I called them and they were very cooperative and helpfull. The parts I needed are on the way and no thanks to Amazon. I wish I could rate the saw. It looks great in my garage, but until I get the missing parts I cant put it together. The service is a one, hopefully the saw will be a five.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT SAW/GREAT PRICE
After wearing out a cheap shop saw, we researched and chose the JET supersaw. It arrived crated on a palate by truck, but we were able to get it where we wanted it piece by piece. It set up easily and quickly and did not require hiring two men & a boy to lift it. It works well on the stand & handles an after-market add-on router table with ease, giving us a terrific set up at half the cost of the "top of the line" macho saws... we run a small woodcraft & stained glass shop and it does everything we need it to do and well.

5-0 out of 5 stars A costly error avoided
I was just looking at this saw yesterday at a local tool supplier and they made me a deal that was too good to be true. I was told they needed to move out older stock to make room for a new shipment that was scheduled to arrive next week. (Hmmm . . . that's the same line that was used on me last summer when I stopped to look at a "99" F250.) I pulled out my checkbook but hesitated and said that I had to get back to the job and I would come back tomorrow and look it over better. I learned a long time ago that a deal that sounds too good to be true usually isn't. Besides, I seldom buy anything without checking at Amazon first for prices and customer reviews. Much of the time I end up buying here which is often enough that when our UPS driver changed routes he stopped to say good-bye.

Even if the belt and gear problems have been have been addressed and are no longer problematic I still don't want to give a second thought to the reliability of a piece of equipment. Twenty six years ago I bought a used Delta Unisaw for $900 from a cabinetmaker who had retired and was moving to Florida. When it runs all you all hear is the whoosh of the blade and a slight hum of the motor. Now that I think of it I don't know why I even wanted a new saw. Maybe it was the same reason my grandson used to pick the shiny new penny out of my hand and leave the dull old quarter.

I'd like to say thank you to everyone who has taken the time to write a product review, and especially thanks to Amazon for their willingness to post them good or bad. For several years I have avoided a lot of grief because of you. Since I have decided not to buy the Jet Supersaw my 5 stars are for Amazon.com and all of you who write the product reviews.

Oh by the way, I didn't buy the truck either. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great saw
The saw is all that it has been touted as being and then-some. The finish was good and all parts were there as one would expect. The power is incredible compared to my old 120v saw.

A specification sheet was included showing what all of the tollerances were as they were checked/set at the factory. In most cases the runout or tollerance was measured in the .oooo range, you can't get much closer to zero than that.

I found two items that kept me from giving this product a full 5-star rating it should be a 4.5 but that option isn't available.

1) The fence has a bent part for the adjustment that keeps the fence parallel to the blade. I will be contacting Jet to see what can be done to correct it. I think it will just be a matter of a little hammer work to correct it.

2) The assembly instructions leave a lot to be desired. If you do not have some mechanical ability and are not used to putting things together by reading between the lines you may have a problem. This will be especially true when attaching the cabinet to the saw and mobile base. JET doesn't make it clear that the two rear legs should be removed, you have to look at the picture to find this out.

For additional support, I drilled another hole directly over the mobile base support, cut one of the legs to fit and installed it. Other than this extra supportand the two front legs, there are 6 screws that hold the box to the table and I would imagine that in time the extra weight would cause the table to warp.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again but the way this is constructed I don't believe that will ever happen. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

While this JET saw beats its closest competitor on price, it also offers some advantages in design and construction. A quick-connect electrical plug is right on the saw, so you can change blades without having to search out the wall socket every time. The saw's stand is made of a heavy-gauge metal, and features a hinged-motor cover and a 4-inch dust port for easy connection to a dust-collection system. This model also includes an XACTA router lift and a 2-horsepower Bosch 1617EVS variable speed router, so your table saw can double as a fully functional router table. The left-tilting arbor is another mark in this saw's favor. Tilting the blade away from the fence allows you to work without a sacrificial fence and reduces the risk of the piece binding under the blade. But this saw's most impressive feature is the smooth action of the blade's height-adjustment mechanism. Not only will users save their wrists and knuckles, but they'll also save time by cranking the blade to the exact height needed with fewer test runs for every rabbet, dado, tongue, and groove. Finally, we really appreciate the new micro-adjustable XACTA II fence that's included with this saw--a long awaited upgrade to a fence that's already popular for its accuracy. --Nancy Gleason ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Saw - Wish I bought it sooner
Great Saw. I am very happy with my purchase. I upgraded from a Ryobi BT3000, which was a nice starter saw, but required a lot of work to keep in alignment and was more limited in rip capacity, power, etc. After seeing how nicely this machine works, I really wish I had made the move sooner. Also, if you are torn between the Jet and the Delta, have no fear going with Jet. It is a high quality, solid product. A few notes:

Overall - The fence is wonderful. Very easy to operate and the micro adjust feature is indispensable. No more tapping back and forth to get the right cut. The table and cast iron wings are solid, flat and offer no vibration. Plenty of quiet power. I'm really pleased at how much easier it is to use this vs. my old saw. Table size, fence capacity and length really make it easy. I can now easily handle a 4x8 sheet of cabinet ply provided I use an out-feed table. (I mounted my old out-feed table to the saw. Works great.) The saw comes without a plug, but putting one on and wiring a 230V circuit was easy. (Or hire an electrician if you feel under-qualified.) You can purchase 230V extension cords (intended for home air conditioners) at home improvement stores if you need extra length in your shop. ...

Assembly - Unlike one of the reviewers, I had no problems with the user's manual. Assembly was straightforward. The only assistance I required was lifting the saw from the pallet to the mobile base. The table was dead on to the blade, and setting up the fence was easy. After initial test cuts, I had to readjust my splitter. Now I have no burns, clean cuts and plenty of power.

Base - After reading terrible reviews about the HTC mobile base, I took reviewer James Andrew's suggestion and purchased the Delta mobile base. As he notes, the legs on the Jet's extension table don't fit the Delta base. Purchasing a 24" length of angle iron (Home Depot) and bolting on to the end of the Delta mobile base creates a perfect fit The Delta base is rock solid and easy to use. Thank you James, and I encourage anyone else needing a mobile base to consider this option.

Blade - I went with Forrest's Woodworker II thin kerf and a dampener. After getting my splitter aligned, it cuts beautifully.

Router lift - While not difficult, this took some time. My first Bosch Router arrived in pieces. Amazon was great and cross-shipped a new one to me. To mount the router on the lift, I did have to run to a local hardware store to purchase four 4mm x 12 mm oval head screws, since those supplied with the router base had pan heads and did not fit in the lift. I purchased an external switch that I mounted on the edge of the table for easy and safer on-off operation.

As the other reviews indicate, this is a great saw and a very nice price. Well worth it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Could not be happier
I have worked on a few "popular" saws in the same category over the years and have checked out the direct competitors to the JTAS-10XL and I can say with certainty that this saw is as good as any within $600 of the Amazon price.

Here are the really important measures for this saw. The miter slots were within 2 thousandths of being parallel to the saw blade (I should add that I installed a 60-tooth combination blade from Systematic). The miter slots were within 2 thousandths of each other as well. The arbor is extremely accurate. By rotating the blade on the arbor I was able to get the blade to within 3 thousandths of being parallel from front of the blade to back. That means that he arbor was at most 3 thousandths out (but I don't think it was quite that far). Those are spectacular stats. Anything under 3 thousandths is excellent, under 4 is pretty good, over 5 is not very good at all.

The finish on the table is excellent. The extension table is as high quality as would be expected. The only thing I did not like about the extension table was that I had to drill holes to mount the fence rails. It was no big deal, but I get nervous after spending nearly $2k on something and immediately drilling holes in it.

The owner's manual, as stated in another review here on Amazon, was sub-par, but not nearly as bad as the other reviewer implied. I was able to set this saw set up and ready to be tuned in just over 3 hours. I was expecting a 2 day ordeal. It took a total of about 6-7 hours after all final touches.

The saw is extremely well made. I would say that the trunnions on the equivalent PowerMatic saw are beefier, but unless you are a daily, serious, heavy-duty woodworker, you will never know the difference. Also, the PowerMatic is about $2200...not worth it to me for sure.

The Bosch router is excellent. The Jess-Em router table insert is top-notch. The router has a soft start, which I did not have on my Porter-Cable. I would not buy a router without a soft start now.

Honestly, this is a great deal. If you are looking for a cabinet saw, trust me, take a look at this one. Look at the quality of components and fit. BTW, don't expect to see something perfectly assembled at your local dealer. Most dealer's just throw them together to get them on the floor. If they want to push one brand over another, they might spend some more time on their favorite brand. So overlook that if that is the case for you.

Oh, before I forget, there is one thing that I must tell you all. The magnifier over the fence tape has two lines on it (one on top and one on bottom) for a reason. If you look closely with one eye moving your head left to right you will see that the lines will intersect. That is key. You need to do that procedure each and every time you set the fence (and when you adjust the fence to the blade). This will ensure accurate cuts. It is not a design flaw or a manufacturing error. However, the two lines should be straight and parallel.

Good luck to you. Be sure to be safe using this incredibly powerful saw.

2-0 out of 5 stars The User's Manual From Hell
Short and sweet: great saw, terrible assembly manual. This is an excellent saw in every respect. The fence and router lift are also first rate. I was particularly impressed that Jet even included a "test report" that showed how well the saw was aligned before it even left the factory. This saw is so good, that it's even better than the Powermatic 66 I bought just two years ago. A really fine saw!

So if the saw is so great, why only two stars? Because the assembly instructions were written by Satan himself. It's the perfect example of the unholy trinity: it's unclear, incomplete, and incorrect. In fact, if I had actually followed the instructions, I could not have assembled a safe and fully functional saw. Let me put my comments in context for you. I'm 57, and I've been assembling things since I was a boy. I like it, and I'm good at it. So I'm telling you something important when I say that the instructions for this Jet package are the worst I have ever seen in my entire life. They're so bad that I wouldn't be surprised to hear that a pack of monkeys pecking away on typewriters managed to write an instruction manual that was better than this one. It is truly horrible. And that fact is as inexcusable as it is outrageous. We pay a small fortune for tool systems like this one, and we deserve a fair shake. But we aren't getting one as long as Jet shoves junk like this down our throats and then pretends it's an assembly manual.

Wait a minute...what's that you say? Oh, right! Every manual is bad and so just suck it up and blah blah blah. Okay, buddy. Okay. But you have been warned. And if you don't listen, then you've got no right to whine later. This is a really nice saw, but the "assembly manual" was written by the devil, so if you buy this saw, you are gonna suffer big time in hell before you get it assembled.

5-0 out of 5 stars My first cabinet saw also
I have had this saw now for about 2 months and it has more than impressed me. I was worried about delivery since the fine print says that it will be driven to the curb and the driver would not assist in unloading. I was worried about forklifts, or hiring another truck and pallet jack to get it from the dock, but all was not needed as the guys (ABF here) that delivered brought it on a lift truck and rolled it right into my garage. Setup was *easy* and logical. I had just wired in a length of romex 220 for my planer, so plugging in was not a problem. I had my 30 amp breaker and locking plugs all ready to go, as they are NOT included. I did not choose the cabinet and roller stand as that was[considerably more money]. Instead I made my own from a 3/4" sheet of plywood I ripped in two with my new saw. It went through it like balsa wood with a new GP blade. The whole rig with casters was $60 and some left over melamine thrown in, and is much much stronger than the store bought version. The exacta fence is just that. You can really use the installed tape for measured cuts, and when you set it on 4 15/16ths, by golly that is what you get. It was a snap to square up, and I have made no adjustments to the saw itself (only table and fence) and it will shave a consistent piece off a stud that is transparent if you just want to show off for your friends.

The router took longer to set up than the saw did, but once you figure out the bolt pattern is off by one circle on the crazy 10 million circle diagram, you have the hardest part solved. The fence goes together in about 10 minutes and you are complete. Be careful when you are rocking the 540 lbs into position, as it is easier to do than you think. It moves easily on the rollers as well. This is a SOLID tool, and one that will last many lifetimes if cared for, as they should.

Use care in tightening bolts. The only reason I have not snapped a head off of a JET tool bolt, is because I know so many guys here, and read about here, that have. It is easy to do. Throw a cover on your saw and then a 3/4" sheet of plywood on top and you have a rolling workbench too. Awesome.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Saw at a Great Price
My saw was back ordered and arrived about one month after I ordered it. I was so excited to finally have it. It was in great shape - no scratches, no dings, all parts were there. I put it together with no difficulty at all. Their instructions were terrific. The only gripes I have are:
1) The dust hood was bent so far in that it was about 1/32 of an inch to the blade, but that was easy to fix - just bent it out.
2)The router lift did not fit flush in the opening, so I had to sand it down. Also the opening was a little bit too big as well, but that is okay, since the weight of my router keeps it were it needs to be.
3) The magnetic switch failed, and I am getting a new one from via Tool Crib's warranty support, which is great.

The only other negative thing to say is that the extension table really isn't supported well enough to not bow with a router in it - so I added some straight graines white oak battens to the underside, which seems to have minimized the problem. But, I do not think that this problem would be avoided with any extension table if you dropped a router in it. I just think that Jet should design a little bit better extension table for the kits that include the xacta lift.

Otherwise (and those were all minor complaints), the saw is great. It cuts amazingly accurately, there is very little runout at the arbor, it's got sufficient power (and then some), and it sure is pretty. Also, I have a small shop and the convenience of being able to add my router table into the saws footprint is very helpful.

The fence is very nice and the micro adjust feature works well, although I must admit that I don't use it much as of yet. The Bosch router is a great router. I use out of the table only, and it just feels right in my hands. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars ROUTER LIFT AND EXTENSION TABLE
THE SAW WAS GREAT, VERY WELL MADE AND TIGHT TOLERANCE. IT WAS VERY IMPRESIVE. THE TABLE ON THE OTHER HAND WAS POORLY MADE. THE OAK WAS SPLIT IN SEVERAL AREAS BUT DID NOT FUNCTIONALLY AFFECT PERFORMANCE. THE CUTOUT FOR THE ROUTER LIFT ASSEMBLY WAS CUT TOO CLOSE TOLERANCE AND MINOR HUMIDITY CAUSED TOO TIGHT A FIT. IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO GET ASSEMBLY TO FIT INTO CUTOUT WITHOUT FORCING IT WHICH I HAVEN'T DONE. I WOULD PREFER A REPLACEMENT TABLE. I WAS VERY DISSAPPOINTED IN EXTENSION TABLE.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great value
If you are reading this review you are probably doing the same thing I was. Looking for the ultimate killer table saw to get old with. But in the back of your mind is the nagging idea that your better half may not see things quite the same way. So you look at the Deltas, Jets, Powermatics and maybe like me try to come to grips with not buying a good solid piece of Amercian steel.

Well give no more thought to your decision. JET has made the choice pretty plain.

Lets get the bad news out of the way. First, plan to devote a weekend of your life to setting up your new Jet. I got mine with a sliding table and between that and the saw it took a full weekend in part due to the incredibly poor manuals. A bolt sheared and two holes found their way into the wrong place. Only other complaints are the poorly sealed collection chamber bottom plate and the cheeseball vinyl labels instead of a decent rivited nameplate. Come on JET spring a buck or two.

Alright, enough complaining! Lets talk about how this beauty does its job. Punch on the power and this puppy snaps to life. Your first butter smooth perfectly square cut tells the story. This is an outstanding saw. Jet's attention to design and machining accuracy are evident with each cut. The fence has a useful and clever bubble magnifier to aid precise positioning. And is made in USA (which explains why its screws are sae and the saws are metric). Add the handy cabinet and router lift and it seems to me this saw is tough to beat. My suggestion is to use the money you saved over another brand and invest in Jet's sliding table. It's a bit of a challange to set up but makes handling even large panels a breeze.

I was looking for a solid, powerful and highly accurate saw with well rounded features JET delivered and left me with something to spend for more JET products.

Hope my experience helps in your decision! Happy woodworking!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great White
After years of wishing and wanting I was recently fortunate enough to purchase the following JET tools; 6" jointer, 14" bandsaw, dust collector and the new 3 hp left tilt table saw with the router lift. I researched, tested and owned several other brands of tools and settled on JET.

I received the saw in a massive cardboard box on a pallet. The saw was very impressive and easy to set up. The tolerance inspection record showed run-out at 0.0008 and parallelism at 0.0024. My high regard for these tools is somewhat dampened by the reoccurring damage to each tool which seems to have occured during shipping/handleing. Each tool had either scratches/chips or other minor damage to the paint or parts.

This saw is heavy and was placed on a great HTC mobile base. I share my shop in our two car garage and the mobile base is not an option. It is worth every cent! The router lift allows me to have a table mounted router and saves room. The Jessem lift is outstanding in quality, value and performance. No more remeasuring router bit height. I started a journal and recorded the turns of the lift for each piece and bingo...right on for repeatablity! All from the top of the table too!

After getting the shop wired for 220 volts I was able to test the saw. This saw screams to life but is quiet! I can carry on a normal conversation while the saw is running. I equiped the saw with the new CMT general 40 tooth blade. What a combination, perfect glass smooth cuts! There are no rattles, wobbles or vibrations. This machine not only passes the nickle test while running but when stopping AND starting too!!! Power is unlimited with no sign of stalling.

Everything about this saw screams quality and puts out for HUNDREDS of dollars less than the competition (if there is any). JET needs to take a serious look at improving packaging to insure these quality tools arrive as expected.

With the exception of the troubeling minor damage the fit and finish/quality is outstanding. I still rate this saw with ***** stars, will buy more JET products and recommend them to others!!!!! ...

Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Once in a Lifetime
The "Acceptable Copy" review is accurate in many respects, but the emphasis is not as well placed as it could be. I recently purchased the 30" Supersaw w/Sliding Table instead of the DeWalt product. I needed a saw that I could use for the next 30 years not a saw that I could get bye on until later. The deciding factors in favor of the Jet are the enclosed cabinet, the cast iron with its additonal weight and stablity, and the more solid and stable design. DeWalt can provide the cast iron and enclosure with the purchase of extras from DeWalt, but it still seemed to me that the resulting saw was less stable and "solid" than the Supersaw. The DeWalt extras also result in a greater total cost than the Jet.

One downside for the Jet is the fence. The Jet fence clearly has more play in it than the DeWalt. If the fence is your sole reason for a purchase, then the DeWalt is the better buy. I decieded that I could live with the Jet fence for now and save my pennies to buy an after-markert later (when my wife is not looking).

Dust collection is fabulous with the Supersaw. Almost all the saw dust stays within the cabinet. It should be noted, however, that a dust collector, rather than a shop vac, is required for complete removal of all dust from the cabinet. This is not an extra expense I would have incured with the DeWalt, but I needed a dust collector anyway. (Jet currently will give a rebate for a purchase of its 1100.)

The blade guard with its independent side movement was an unexpected plus.

For a once in a lifetime saw purchase, I recommend the Jet. I am less certain the DeWalt will hold up over ther years.
****
I have now used the Supersaw almost every weekend for over 1 year. After extensive use of the saw, I believe that most of my initial comments were correct. My views have only changed on the fence: I no longer intend to replace the fence. The fence with its bubble marker works very well once you learn to line it up with only one eye at a time. When you master the fence you can repeat any measured cut with 100% accuracy. The sliding table works much better than anticipated. Don't buy one of these saws without one!

I do have one word of caution on the blade adjustment assembly. The "timing belt" which raises and lowers the blade will break with repeated hard use. Mine broke after 1 year. I ordered replacement which was inexpensive & arrived quickly, but it was very difficult to install. Raise & lower your blade gently & order replacement timinig belts when you buy the saw.

Even with the timing belt issue, I would strongly recommend this saw to any weekend woodworker who has a small shop & who doesent want to up grade his saw later on.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Solid Table Saw
If I were to use one word to describe this saw is SOLID. The next word would be precise. I got my Super Saw a week after Thanksgiving. Assembly was easy even for a single person. Although the sliding table wing was heavy. Set-up did take the greater part of a day to include a mobile base but after that it was smooth sailing. I was a bit disapointed that the way Jet beats DW's ... price is by not including a saw blade A bit underhanded for my taste but hey it is a slightly better saw than the DeWalt. So I got a Freud thin kerf 40 tooth blade. The combination is pure heaven. Cuts are precise and clean. The mitter works perfectly as delivered. The blade angles are exact. The micro-adjustment on the fence is not so precise I have to check and adjust with a measuring tape but the fence is true and parallel. Power is more than enough.

I look forward to years of solid performance as I know this saw is very capable to deliver.

5-0 out of 5 stars The right saw for me
I recently purchased a Jet Supersaw with 30 inch rails and a sliding table. A lot of the threads on woodworking forums complain about the fence. Then there are the purists who believe everybody should own a Unisaw, or a PM66, but in any case a true cabinet saw. Here is my opinion after having used the saw for the past 5 weeks.

The fence is accurate, precise and has maintained its alignment with quite heavy use. The play on the back end of the fence that is often sighted does not come into play while in use and does not interfere in anyway with getting a precise cut. The sliding table is easy to set up. I have a small shop and really appreciate the convenience and precision that the sliding table provides in a small package, i.e. it is much smaller than European sliding tables - but I don't have room for them. The dust collection is excellent with the fully enclosed cabinet. The right wing and the sliding table are cast iron. This thing is massive, yet I can move it easily using the Delta universal mobile base. I am 52 and I happen to like the magnified crosshair on the fence. Maybe younger folks with better eyes don't like it, but just wait and you will find it helpful in later years. I have already started making jigs that take advantage of the built-in T-slots on the fence. The adjustable switch is neat, although you have to get on the floor and look up in order to move it. I think it would be a great enhancement to make it moveable without tools. I have made some rip cuts on both hardwood and softwoods using a $50 CMT blade that look like that came off of a planer and required no sanding. I have never used a splitter or pawls before owning this saw, but I have not had them off the saw yet. The split saw blade protector works great.

To summarize, it is massive and stable, precisely rips and crosscuts, good safety features, good fence, plenty powerfull enough for my needs, and excellent dust collection which was a priority for me . . . or at least my wife.

2-0 out of 5 stars It wasn't my idea of quality
I have read many of the other reviews, but I don't share their satisfaction. I bought the saw about a year ago, I use it weekly. The fence has not been as stable, straight, or consistant as I would have hoped. The table only has one slot, so my tenoning jig doesn't work properly. I agree the sliding table is very heavy, it is also difficult to align and mine is not very flat. The sliding table is not worth the extra money. I would put a few hundred extra into a cabinet saw and pass on this one in the future.

5-0 out of 5 stars Saw Update
---------------------------------------------------------------
One year update on the Supersaw and JET:
1. Timing belt gave up 13 months after purchase. Jet provided a no additional cost replacement and I bought an extra one. This, for me, is a totally minor issue. Parts wear out, and a fiber belt is no different. Had fun learning how to replace the timing belt. Recommendations; buy replacement timing belt in advance (approx $7.00), and the setscrews that are installed on the shaft that raises and lowers the blade. Do yourself a big favor and call JET before you begin replacement (mention the setscrews) and they'll gladly walk you through this. The new belts will last longer as the original belts had a manufacturing flaw from a different vendor.

2. The fence is really excellent. Adjusts easily, is true, and yet holds its setting. The only issue for me is the bubble, which makes it difficult for me to get a consistently repeatable cut once I move the fence. Recommendation, buy a replacement plastic piece without the bubble (magnifier), and/or complete all cuts at the same fence setting before moving the fence. Most folks I've spoken with don't have this issue. It may be my eyes....

3. The splitter is excellent. Recommendation: Please use the splitter especially if you're just starting out as a woodworker. It's a nice piece of safety equipment.

4. JET Customer service is excellent. They are prompt, treat you with respect, are happy to chat with you about issues, and have a wealth of information they enjoy sharing. Give them a call before you purchase anything and I'm sure you'll agree.

5. Fifteen months after buying the Supersaw, I would definitely buy it again. And the Forrest Woodworker II Blade and most definitely, the sliding table. Don't buy the saw without the sliding table. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Jet 5hp left tilt cabinet saw
Absolutely great saw. I've had it for a year now. Before I bought this saw, I used a Delta 10" contractor's saw for a lot of years. I liked that saw and cut a LOT of wood with it, but the 1-1/2 hp motor was a bit on the weak side. When it was time, I knew I wanted a Cabinet-type saw with a lot of power. The only saws that I really considered were the Powermatic, Delta and Jet. I did a lot of research to determine which was the best saw. The cheapest was definitely the Jet with the Powermatic being, by far, the most expensive. With the amount of money that I was spending, I didn't have a problem paying more if I felt that I was getting more for the money. With all that said, I chose the Jet, and I have not been disappointed in the least. This machine is a monster. You can shove a piece of 2" oak through it as fast as the blade will allow with no motor bogging. As far as fit and finish go, it's beautiful. Shipping was great. Everything arrived in perfect condition. Set-up was quick and easy once I had all the correct parts. This leads me to the only downfall to my experience. The hardware to set up the fence, (bolts, nuts, and washers), were missing. I did not want to wait a week for Jet to send them to me, so I went to the local Home Depot and purchased the items for about $4. Everything else went smoothly. Though the missing items were frustrating at the time, I certainly would not downgrade my rating after using this great saw. The one thing that I would recommend is to buy the Delta mobile base. It is built well and much easier to use than most of the other bases available. The Delta base fits the Jet saw like it was made for it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best saw I ever owned
In all my years of woodworking I never saw a better saw for the money. Every setting and adjustment was 100% accurate. I am very pleased with it

5-0 out of 5 stars Yes, this is a Super Saw!
I had contemplated buying a table saw for several years to augment my aging and growling radial arm saw in my home shop. I compared Jet, Delta and Powermatic at tool dealers and liked the Jet the best, even though it is the least expensive. I had originally planned on buying the 3hp model, but, being the "King of Overkill" and listening to several of my woodworking buddies harp, "you can never have too much horsepower," I ordered the 5hp model. I'm glad I did!

The saw arrived on a pallet, covered with a strapped on double walled cardboard box covering it. Just cut the straps and lift off the box. Four bolts hold the saw base on the pallet, and I had to prop the pallet up on 2x4's to get the wrenches on the bolts and nuts. A little awkward, but that is the only real difficulty you'll face unpacking it.

I assembled the saw tables and fence in a couple of hours. I used a framing square to align the extension tables and held them with Vise-Grip C-Clamps as I tightened the bolts. The resulting table surface is dead-flat! I am really impressed with the quality of workmanship on the cast iron parts. After assembling the fence, it only took about five minutes to square it to the miter grooves. The arbor measured out perfectly square with an inside caliper. I am going to borrow a dial indicator to get a really accurate check.

The blade comes up to speed virtually instantly, a big change from my old 2hp radial arm saw. I have only used it for a week, but I can't see any problems with it at all. The extra horsepower keeps the blade at full speed in 1" ash.

Like the previous reviewer, I was able to justify the cost of the saw by comparing the cost of quality, ready-made cabinets with that of the tools and free rough-cut ash wood from my wife's Uncle. We'll have our cabinets and I get to keep the tools!

5-0 out of 5 stars Solid machine that gets the work done.
It took a lot of thought to talk myself into this saw. Having retired out of a large woodworking business (I sold it) my last table saw came from Germany, weighed 2 tons and cost $16,000. I had to adjust my expectations before feeling good about buying a saw at a tenth of the price. JET has been in the business a while now but I can remember when their products first came on the market no one thought they could build a good tool at the prices they were asking. But they did. And they are still doing it.

Facing a major remodel I justified the price of this saw against the price of professionally made cabinets. Throwing in my labor for free (I do consider it fun!) the price was easily justified. I wanted a saw that would not limit my designs or my material selections. I could have done with the three horsepower version - but thinking back I don't ever recall regrets buying more horsepower but I do recall regrets when I bought less. The motor pulls close to 20 amps at 230 volts. It won't run on 115v power. Be sure you have 230v power available. Because I was planning to do all of the panel work myself I also bought a stock feeder and built two different sorts of outfeed tables. With this set up and the five horsepower I had a saw that would not be out of place in too many commercial job shop environments. Don't forget to wear safety glasses with this tool. JET made the guard work well enough that you have no excuse not to use it.

The left tilt is very handy for panel cutting. Those of you used to right tilts will have to make a few adjustments, but they are intuitive. The tilt and elevation mechanisms worked very smoothly and the dust collection provisions were good. While the saw required no adjustment to the squaring expect to spend some time adjusting the riving knife and blade guard. The fence is a dream and is fair competition with a Biesemeyer. I check it's accuracy often, and in 8 months have never found it to be off. Expect to spend some time aligning the cast table extension. While the main table is beveled at the front edge the extension is not. I have not decided if this anomaly was intentional or if it effects the operation of the saw. My sense of order would have made the extension beveled as well. The arbor is quiet, accurate and strong. Blade changing ease is average for saws such as these. The 50" extension is almost mandatory for panel work and is worth it. Even without a discount.
When the saw arrived the packaging showed a lot of thought. If you purchase this saw for your garage, be sure you have someone to help you move it around. Also, you might consider purchasing a mobile base and install it while you are setting up.

I have owned the other 5 hp saw listed at the time of the review (by Powermatic) and know it to be of true quality. However I consider the JET a 5 star machine as it compares well at almost $'s less. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a nice saw for the small shop
First band saw for me. Very nice fit and finish, easy to adjust. Plenty of power with no noticable vibration. This saw has a fairly small footprint if you're tight on space, it's very convenient on a mobile base. I installed Cool Blocks on the upper and lower blade-guides and purchased additional blades. Resawed 6" walnut with great success, separated a series of small trim pieces from each other deftly, and cut curves in MDF to make bending-forms. Very pleased with the tool.

Dust collection is a must (a shop-vac works), and a magnetically attached work light is a big help. I wish the tool had been supplied with a rip fence and miter guide. I will probably purchase these two things since I'm tired of clamping wooden fences on the table (although this gets the job done). The stand is fairly lightweight, but is sufficiently stable on the mobile base. The saw is nice and solid and is probably all the tool I will ever need for my amateur furniture-making adventures.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good saw for the money
I received the saw and had it set up in about an hour. The assembly was very easy, it just took a while to tighten all the screws :)

After assembling the saw I went through all the usual checks of tensions and such and found that everything from the factory was pretty spot-on. I did have to move the guides forward a bit but they would have worked fine as they were.

As far as cutting power goes, the motor hasn't had a problem yet and I have cut through stock that was 4" white oak.

On the downside, the saw didn't come with a fence or miter guage, so those are going to have to be bought afterward, and the 14" saw comes with those included which makes the price only [slightly] more for the saw. The 12" also doesn't have a riser block, which would have been nice.

Overall, this is a very good saw for the money, but if I had to do over I would go with the 14" for the riser block and fence.

Note:
I called Jet Customer Service to order the fence for the saw and after a short wait I talked to a women who was very friendly and ordered the part for me. I asked a couple of questions which she new the answers to off the top of her head. She also gave me her name and extension and said that if there where any pieces missing or a problem with the order to call her directly and she would take care of it. The customer service was top notch and I will definitely buy [their product] again.
I should also mention that the blade that comes with the saw is of mediocre quality and has stretched over the last couple of months a bit (I don't loosen the tension between uses). I would definitely recommend getting some timberwolf blades.

1-0 out of 5 stars Terms of delivery not made clear
If you are able to have a stong adult available to accept delivery of this item Monday through Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. you may not have a problem. Also, an adult must be available to sign for the item upon delivery. And, the shipping company does not unload the item from the delivery truck...you need to do this, and the item weighs 150 pounds. For most of us in the real world, there is a logistical problem due to a little thing called "a job". Amazon mentions nothing about the M-F 7:30 - 4:00 delivery issue in their shipping and delivery policy. When pursuing this with Amazon's "customer service" rep, the rep disconnected me since he felt the call was "no longer being productive". Well, alrighty then. Bottom line: Buyer beware. And be able to take a day off from work to accept delivery or pay huge shipping costs ($70.00 - $227.00...can't get Amazon to commit to an exact amount) to return the item to Amazon. Terrible experience.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice saw, Amazon service disappointing
Re. Amazon Service:
I purchased this saw from Amazon and tried to cancel the sale the next day. The sale status was 'being prepared for shipping, sale not cancellable'. In the meantime, the delivery date had slipped from that promised. I sent notes to customer service and received the same answer - being prepared, cannot cancel. Once the saw (finally) arrived, the delivery company called to tell me they could not drive up my street due to overhanging trees. I've had 18 wheel trucks up that street, and no problems. This was a first. To summarize, service on the deal was less than stellar.
Re. The Saw:
The saw itself is very nice. Assembly was easy. The blade it comes with - throw it out, it's really cheap. After replacing the blade the saw cut very well. There is vibration as noticed by others. This is my first bandsaw and I'm still learning the fine tuning, so I can't say that it's worse than it should be. In all I'm happy with the saw. As for Amazon, that's another matter.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Order this From Amazon
My wife tried to order this saw as a birthday gift to me. The shipping company that amazon.com uses says that they will not unload the saw from their truck and that someone has to be available from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm on a weekday to unload it for them. Of course, that piece of information comes after the sale. We refused delivery and will get this saw from somewhere other than amazon.

If this will be a problem for you, don't order from amazon.com. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Impressed at all
I have had several Jet tools and have liked all of them, so
when I sold my blue Jet "14" bandsaw and decided to move up
in size to one of the new "18" saw's, Jet was the first thing
that came to my mind. I read several reviews of the current
Jet "18" saw with "10" resaw capacity, at the same time I
realized that Jet had come out with an upgrade to this saw
to fix alot of the complaints with the regular "18" saw.

With the "18X" they added "12" of resaw height and beefed
up the trunions under the table and added more HP. After
I got the "18X" home I found there was so many bad points
to this saw that I took it back to woodcraft and swapped
it for a Delta "18" and did not like it either and took
it back also. Now I am looking again!

Pros:

1. 1 3/4 hp motor

2. "12" resaw

3. Ball bearing guides

Cons:

1. Build quality sucks...trunion mounting plate that was welded
to frame was bent severly

2. Top of saw felt weak (thin gauge metal)

3. Table was nowhere near flat

4. I could not get table square to blade even after "1/4" of
shims under the table

5. The cast iron wheels were poorly made and caused the whole
machine to shake with vibration and I could not correct it

6. And the icing on the cake was the lower blade guides, you
have to remove the table to change a blade and make any
adjustments to the lower guides

Conclusion:
If you want to spend hours upon hours trying to get this
saw tuned enough to cut something then buy this saw. This
saw isnot the same quality that my Jet "14" bandsaw and
my Jet tablesaw were made to. Even if Jet could replace
most of the parts that where poorly made to start with,
the efforts that you have to go thru just to change a
blade and adjust the lowerguides is not worth it to me.

Maybe I just got the lemon of the first few they made,
time will tell.
