If you're shopping for a band saw, we don't have to tell you what an incredibly versatile tool it is to have in your shop. But we can tell you why this one is worth buying. Whether you'll use it mainly for resawing or for creative curved cuts, you'll appreciate everything from its rock-solid construction to its micrometer adjustment for ball bearing blade support and the blade guide blocks that assure absolute accuracy. The cast-iron table is a generous 16 by 16 inches and easily tilts 45 degrees right and 3 degrees left for bevel cuts. The max cut capacity is 6-1/4-inch thick, and even at that, with the 1-1/2 hp motor, you won't experience any bogging. Blade change, the least favorite job of band-saw owners, is really not so bad: There's a side take-out slot for the blade, and you won't even have to remove the rip fence guide rails when you're changing blades. We're impressed, too, with the Veri-Set quick-index tensioning system, designed to get you back to cutting wood and not fumbling with blade tension. We didn't hook up the press to a dust-collection system, so we can't vouch for how well the integral port pulls sawdust, but the rest of its features would make any woodworker happy.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Amazon.com Review

Among serious woodworkers who demand top quality tools in their shop, there's no debating the desirability of a Delta Unisaw. It's one of the few cabinet-styletable saws still made in the USA, and the benefits show up in the quality of the tool'sworkmanship and finish. The Unisaw's smooth operation can be traced to the widelyspaced, massive trunions which are machined from fine-grained cast iron and arecompletely adjustable to ensure the best possible alignment. The heavy cast-iron tableadds to the saw's stability and features a 3/8-by-3/4-inch T-slot on each side of the blade.

The single-phase, 3-horsepower induction motor is housed in a dust-sealed, fan-cooledenclosure, and power is transferred smoothly and efficiently via a positive-tractionthree-belt V-drive system. The motor cover has handy storage slots for your miter gaugeand table inserts, but more importantly, the inside is designed to maximize the airflow fordust collection and, in conjunction with the redesigned cabinet interior, funnel all the dustefficiently to the 4-inch dust port without a hitch.

This model comes with a 50-inch commercial Biesemeyer fence system. While the basics of this popular fence design have beencopied by competing saw and fence manufacturers, there's still nothing quite like theoriginal. The Biesemeyer is made of the heaviest gauge steel we've seen on a T-squaretype fence, and the fence face itself is made of laminated 9-ply Finland birch, gluedsolidly in place--a construction method that eliminates warpage in the fence line that thebolts or screws used in competing systems can cause. The fence locks to the front guiderail using Biesemeyer's three-point locking system and automatically aligns the fenceparallel to the blade when the lever is tightened down, providing reliable accuracy everytime. --Brian Trinen ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Top of the line
I had went thru about three craftsman saws when I decided to purchase a unisaw. I had held back sometime because of the cost.
When I started using it I knew why there was a difference in cost factor. I also wondered how my old saw was rated at 3 HP,when there is no comparison between it and the 3 HP unisaw. It was like changing from from a model T Ford to a new Cad. What a difference! I highly recommend spending a few more dollars and getting what you really want. Very satified with it and wished I had purchased it sooner.

5-0 out of 5 stars A reliable workhorse
In the three years that I've had the saw, I can't find one complaint. It's been up to the task on every occasion. I routinely rip and crosscut 8/4 oak, rock maple, and old growth locust - (the hardest wood that I've encountered), without a glitch. If you keep your blades clean, all that you'll hear from these saws is that familiar whistle that the blade makes when powered up. It seems to be saying, "Bring it"! What amazes me most is the lack of run out. To date, I haven't measured any. My dado set keeps advising me of it & I shim using their recommended sizes, but always end up with dado's that are too tight. This is a very precise machine. To any one considering the 36-821 Unisaw, I would highly recommend it. However, after your purchase, don't be too anxious to discard the blade guard. I've recently reinstalled mine to improve the performance of my dust collector. What a difference, who would have guessed that it's possible to run MDF without choking. The splitter also keeps the cut stock tight to the back of the fence. Thus, eliminating that left turn that long stock likes to make towards the back of the blade after being cut.

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't wait as long as I did....
When guys like "Norm" and others recommend the Unisaw, they are not kidding about how nice and smooth they cut compared to contractor type saws. Unisaws and all cabinet/type table saws are made for woodworkers. You can balance a nickle on it's edge, turn the saw on, shut it down, turn it on again - the nickle doesn't fall over. It's that smooth. I expect that most all cabinet saws are this good - I really don't know. The reason I like and recommend the Unisaw is that they are pretty much unchanged as far as internal parts are concerned. In other words, if your 1950 model Unisaw needs a new trunion - chances are it's still in stock. This tool definately falls into that category of "expensive but worth it."

4-0 out of 5 stars Love the Saw, still waiting to get a repl. for damaged fence
This Saw is incredible, I LOVE IT!!!! Every cut seems perfect, I got rid of a craftsman I had bought used.... It took a few hours to assemble, but I'm totally happy with the saw

On the other hand, the fence had a chip out of it when I recieved it. ... Well, I'm waiting for the new fence ... For that my rating goes down a star. ...

All in all I would recommend buying the saw...

I've had the saw over a month, and just got notified the replacement fence will be at least 2 more weeks! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Saw - Nice features
I've been using this saw for [a while now].It certainly does everything it should; bevel, miters etc with lots of power. The positive stops are very accurate and easy to use.One of the things I like best is the mounting system - the base has slots for setting it on 2 2x4's... ...The included blade isn't too bad either - especially for framing lumber.

The Shopmaster MS275 makes quick work of compound angle cuts withsliding work-support extensions to handle longer stock. With a more powerful motor thanthe MS250, you're getting more amps and more aggressive cutting. Another upgradedfeature on this model is the trigger-control miter indexing mechanism that offers quick, accurate setup of your miter angles. Delta did a little work on their dust collection, too,and came up with a new design that draws chips and dust into the collection bag. Like theother saws in the Shopmaster line, this one will slice a two-by-six or a four-by-four at 90degrees as well as compound-cut a 4-inch workpiece at 45 degrees by 45 degrees. Thepatented base mounts handily on two-by-fours for setting up shop anywhere. The worksupport extensions increase the length from 18 inches to 39-1/2 inches when fullyextended. We like the work clamp, too--a nice addition lacking in the lower-end models.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

Product Description

Setting the standard since 1937, Delta's Unisaw has many features that make it the choice for serious table saw users. Powered by a three-horsepower, single-phase induction motor, this saw cuts smoothly and cleanly. A triple V-belt drive connects the motor to the arbor eliminating belt slippage and vibration while making use of all of the power from the motor. Supporting the motor and arbor is a set of widely spaced, massive, cast iron trunnions that are adjustable to maintain perfect alignment. The saw arbor flange is face machined after assembly so the blade runs perfectly true. Blade height and angle are easy to adjust with the convenient hand wheels located on the front and side of the cabinet. For consistent results, the hand wheels have center locking knobs that lock the adjusting mechanism to prevent movement. Angle adjustments are quick and easy with the adjustable positive stops for 45 and 90 degrees. The miter gauge rides in T-slots in the table which support the gauge beyond the front edge of the table, allowing cut off work on wider stock. The included Unifence is packed with features that will increase productivity and accuracy. The unique locking system allows the fence to slide quickly and easily into place for quicker set up. The fence body can be retracted and used as a stop for repetitive cut off work using the miter gauge since the workpiece does not contact the blade and fence at the same time. The fence body can also be flipped on its side to expose a lip for use with cutting laminated materials. With these features and others like lubricated-for-life ball bearings and precision bored bearing seats, this saw is built to last. Extension table and shelf board (pictured) are sold separately. Two-year limited warranty on machines, parts, and accessories. Includes saw, cast iron extension wing, miter gauge, blade, blade guard, fence and miter gauge storage hooks, and 52-inch Unifence. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars An industry standard... again
What can one say about the Unisaw that has not already been said... well considering I'm the first person to review this model it looks like it's up to me. The Delta Unisaw (and it's predecessor the Rockwell Unisaw) is a standard piece of equipment in just about every shop I've ever seen, been in or worked in (including my own). Solid, well made and built to last and last and last. The mechanisms for raising, lowering and angling the blade are accurate and easy to use, but keep them clean and lubricated, the arbour is dead on and the table surfaces are as flat as required for woodworking.

If your looking into table saws here are a few recommendations:

1.) Never buy a table saw with a motor less than 3 HP unless it is going to be carted around and used on job sites (having said that, I have seen Unisaws used as job site saws!). 3 HP may seem like overkill, but this is a safety issue more than anything else. A gentleman I knew years ago had a horrible accident when a piece of lumber he was ripping got kicked back dragging his hand through the blade... he lost half his hand and mangled his thumb beyond recognition. The cause? By his own admission, a saw that didn't have enough power to cut through a piece of lumber that was distorting as he cut it, it just kicked back and his hand was in the wrong place at the wrong time. In 30 years of woodworking I have never had wood kickback; bog yes, smoke yes, pinch the blade many times, but never kick back and I attribute this to the power of the saw. If a 3 HP motor can't cut through a piece of wood, toss it out and move on. Thickness has nothing to do with this, some lumber just has too much internal stress and as the stress is released by a cut (usually when ripping) it distorts pinching the blade or jamming the wood between the fence and the blade. FYI, I don't use a saw guard, splitter or anti-kickback pawls; we were taught how to use saws without guards and to have a good healthy respect for the inherent danger in all woodworking machinery.

2.) Buy either the Unifence or the Beisemyer fence system. I can't believe that Delta still make and ship as "standard" the old two rail fence... it was junk on the first Rockwell Unisaw I purchased 30 years ago and is more than likely still junk. I own a Unifence (and have used these many times in other shops) and I am very pleased with it's performance even after 15 years of use on my current saw. My only complaint with the Unifence is the difficulty in attaching special hold-downs or guides to it.

3.) Take the standard mitre guide that ships with the saw and throw it away. This is another "I can't believe that Delta still makes..." statements. Ditto on this and the standard fence, junk then, junk now. Invest in a decent mitre guide or buy the Delta sliding table attachment for the Unisaw (I've also reviewed this item) you'll be glad you did. I have an old Accumitre which is very good and they have improved the way the bar fits in the table saw slot (and as an added bonus, you can buy the new bar for older versions of the guide). Precision mitre guides are all about how the bar fits in the table saw slot, the head of the guide could be machined to 1000th of an inch accuracy, but it all goes out the window if the bar wiggles in the table slot. The Osborne looks interesting, but Accumitre make a material hold down which I need for some of the work I do.

4.) Get the mobile base. I've never been overly happy with the mobile base that I have for my Unisaw with a 52" Unifence, it just doesn't seem to be designed to accommodate this configuration. However, I'll admit that I have a box of saw blades and a considerable number of glue batons sitting on the lower shelf... so in many ways I've compromised the functionality of the mobile base myself. I'd still get the mobile base even if you have the luxury of a permanent location for your saw, at the very least it makes clean up around and under the saw a breeze.

5.) Hook the saw up to a dust collector and get the motor cover (don't get the motor cover without dust collection or you will run into over-heating problems). Dust collection in the cabinet keeps the mess down (well duh!) but it also keep the mess off the worm gear mechanisms used to crank the blade up, down and to angles. I'm currently trying to find a suitable dust collection mechanism for above the blade for the well being of my lungs. Nowhere near 100% of all dust travels downwards in cutting operations especially with sheet stock.

Right tilt or left tilt is more-so related to the type of work you are planning to do. Mine is the right tilt version which is perfect for cutting mitres off the mitre guide positioned to the left of the saw, but tricky to rip angled cuts off the fence. This is because the second cut will always have the tip of the angle from the first cut trying to go under the fence. Ripping angles off the fence is simplified on left tilt saws; but I personally have never liked having the blade angled towards me when making mitre cuts with a mitre guide, and I've never liked using the right slot for this purpose (old dog, new trick kind of thing). There may come a day when Delta will make a saw that tilts both left and right, but until then you have to make a choice at the get go.

A table saw is perhaps the most important piece of equipment in your shop so get a good one, with the Unisaw you can't go wrong. If Delta shipped the saw with a decent mitre guide this would be a 5 star rating. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

With easy portability and adjustment features built for speed, Delta's Sidekick 10-inch sliding compound miter saw makes a great cutting partner. Weighing in at only 56 pounds, the Sidekick is definitely designed for the job site, rather than the woodshop. Unlike other saws in its class, the Sidekick's entire base pivots--a distinctive feature that surely helped Delta build such a lightweight saw. The saw's dual horizontal rods are located underneath the base, too, which certainly protects the saw's slide and also seems to give the saw a lower, more stable center of balance. The ergonomic D-shaped handle is comfortable for either left- or right-handed use. The cam-action miter lock--always a good idea with miter saws--is definitely quicker and easier to use than the old traditional screw locks.

This saw only bevels to the left, however, and setting the miter gauge requires more effort than we'd like. The scale is set from behind the fence, which means you have to lean over the saw a bit to set your angle. It isn't a hassle, exactly, but it might be more effort than finish carpenters--who have to dial in exact angles all day long--would like. However, anyone would appreciate the stock stops, which extend up to 59 inches down the stand. As is standard, Delta's Sidekick has positive stops set at 0, 22-1/2, 31.62, and 45 degrees. Spinning a 10-inch blade at 5,000 rpm, the Sidekick cuts widths to 11-1/2 inches at 90 degrees and 8 inches at 45 degrees. It's a good, solid saw, all in all, especially for contractors who want big cutting capacity and who are tired of lugging heavy compound miter saws around. --Justin Paul ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not durable or accurate
As a professional homebuilder, I've used most of the saws on the market. I've also experimented with blades and saw stands. This saw is simply not well designed. If you can't reproduce the same angle of cut consistently, then the saw has no right on a job site. Specifically, the locking system for the miter stop is difficult to control precisely. You must check the gage on both sides to ensure it's even in the range-forget fine control. More importantly, the sliding system that supports the saw head flexes and allows the blade to deflect. Even with thicker, stiffer blades, I get multiple cut lines on the material. Lastly, the safety guard is dangerously sloppy. It gets stuck on the work material or interrupts saw use in general. With the prices of other well-designed saws dropping (e.g. Hitachi, Makita) why even consider this saw. If you inherit one you can use it as a chop saw or for decking! Delta makes many fine tools, but this is not one of them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Saw for Finishing and Roughing
As a homeowner of a 100 year old colonial, I have used this saw outside and inside and it has been flawless. I cut 2800 linear feet of Philippine mahogany for the porch and at least 800' of 4 1/2" crown molding in the bedrooms. It came out of the box cutting square and accurate. If it needed any adjustment, the wrenches are attached on the left hand leg.

The angle stop took a little getting used to (I would have been happier with a more positive stop), but now I am comfortable with it. I bought a 60 tooth blade for the finish work, and this saw makes me look like I know what I'm doing (the crown molding cheat sheet is nice working around the bay windows).

I like the horizontal handle, and the scale is easy enough to read. It is not too heavy to carry outside or upstairs and is still very stable. I have been very satisfied with the Delta.

4-0 out of 5 stars Delta 10" CPD.-Miter saw
I have been a self-employed contractor for over 7 years, currently operating in Los Angeles. I bought the saw when my 10" Dewalt retired from service. Comparably priced and well equipped in both power and accuracy. The accuracy is not as good with the blade that it comes with though, so for finish work I recommend a professional quality finish blade, spend more and get more. I did find the 'saftey' guard a little clumsy, I removed mine although I do not recommend this for beginners. If you keep it on you simply have to move the saw downward more slowly. The sliding mechanism works very well, as does the miter lockin mechanism, it just requires a bit more attention when setting it for finish cuts. It is both rugged, an employee dropped mine with no ill effects, and stable. The large plastic base has proven a major plus when setting the saw up on-site. The base offers great stability by itself, and is equally useful when mounted on 2X4 saw horses. One minor drawback is its small rear fence. On mine we mounted a length of 1/2" ply to heighten it. One other thing may be seen as a small minus and that is the miter and bevel scales. You just have to be careful when setting them. I very much enjoy using this saw. I have used it successfully for both rough framing and crown molding installation. Personally, I also like the 'quiet' color scheme it has, it dosen't remind me of those school-bus days long ago.

2-0 out of 5 stars not an accurate saw.
i bought one of these saws and used it on a few projects, and noticed the cuts weren't square.with the way it drops into each setting , it is hard to get a accurate setting. if you use this for rough framing , it would be a great saw.it is also fairly heavy , so if it has to be moved alot , you might want to consider another saw.i just bought a hitachi c8fb2 , and am very happy with this saw!it can be more easily adjusted than the delta.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best saw under $500
While I am far from a woodworking professional, I am becoming a more adept amateur as time goes on. My girlfriend and I bought this saw while making a potting cart for her mother and it has been a fantastic choice. In our eyes, this saw outclassed the others that were around $500.00 and was cheapest of the lot. The others we looked at were the Hitachi C10FS, one craftsman, and one Makita (Unfortunately I don't remember the model numbers).

While the motors on each were powerful enough for most jobs, it was the little things about this saw that have made it appealing. The horizontal handle is nice from an ergonomic standpoint, and the base is made so that you can construct a table using standard 2x4's with little effort. The sliding mechanism is top notch.

Making sure the rotation is correct on the base take a little getting used to, and when we originally got it I thought it might get loose (it's a pressure type lock as opposed to a screw lock), however it hasn't gotten loose and the instruction manual clearly explains how to tune the locking mechanism.

Overall a great saw. ... Read more

The heavy cast-iron tableadds to the saw's stability and features a 3/8-by-3/4-inch T-slot on each side of the blade.Include the two extension wings and you have a generous cast-iron table surface of 36 by27 inches.

This model comes with a smooth gliding 52-inch Delta Unifence. It's made fromanodized aluminum extrusions built to stay true though a long life of use. There's atwo-position fence face that can be quickly switched to offer better support for tallerstock or better visibility and low clearance for working with small stock or laminates. Italso provides a ripping capability on either side of the blade. The Unifence includes ahairline pointer and a built-in steel tape to ensure accuracy to within 1/64 of an inch, andit can be depended on to remain parallel to the blade and deliver dead-on accurate resultsevery time. --Brian Trinen ... Amazon.com Review

There are lots of surprises in this new Shopmaster miter saw. First, it weighs just 35 pounds, thanks to aluminum-alloy construction. Then there's the slick miter-indexing mechanism and seven positive stops for angles you cut frequently, ensuring speed and accuracy. But among the nicest features on this saw is the super-easy-to-use bevel adjustment with its front bevel lock. You won't be reaching around the saw for bevel changes anymore. We also like the retractable blade guard and the electric blade brake that automatically stops the blade in seconds. Left and right table extensions are standard on this model, bringing width to 39-1/2 inches. The extensions slide right back, allowing you to store the saw in a space just 20 inches wide. Depth of cut is impressive, too, making quick work of crosscuts, miters, bevels, and compound cuts. A dust bag collects most of the fine dust and chips. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

The SS350 is the finest 16-inch scroll saw Delta makes and is an excellent choice for hobbyists and woodworkers who expect the most from their tools. It has a heavy-duty, 2 amp induction motor with variable speed from 600 to 1,650 spm for working with a variety of materials, from metals and hardwoods to soft woods and plastics. We like the really solid construction of the arm, which reduces vibration and helps keep cuts clean and accurate. The 11-3/4-inch-diameter, teardrop-shaped table tilts from 0 to 45 degrees for bevel cutting, and extends the full length of the throat to provide support for big work pieces. This saw has a 2-inch depth capacity with the table set at 90 degrees and a 1-1/2-inch capacity at 45 degrees. Blade changes are quick, easy, and tool free with the upper and lower Quickset II blade chucks that Delta includes. There's also a fingertip blade-tensioning control for maximizing blade life. To complete the package, this saw has a built-in blower to keep the cut line clear of dust and a removable dust collection box with a 1-1/2-inch dust port. 5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Scroll Saw for the Money!!!
I recently bought this saw after a great deal of research. I have been very impressed with the quality of the construction and the amount of power in this tool. The location of the controls and the low vibration level make this saw very easy to use. I have made several mini sculptures requiring compound cuts and I have been amazed at the results. I am very pleased with this saw and would recommend it to anyone from novice to expert. I don't believe anything can be done on a more expensive unit that cannot be done just as well on this unit. You will not be disappointed with this saw!!! Buy one today!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A great saw for the money
I know there are better scroll saws available but ...this is a honey.

You can carry the saw by the handle on the upper arm making it easy to lug around as a portable saw if need be.

The vibration level is quite low. I routinely have a glass of ice tea setting on my home made wooden scroll saw table and there is barely ever a ripple in my tea except when the saw speed is changed either up or down.

I have cut wood from 1/8" to 1 1/2" thick with no problems. I made a jig to saw 1/2" strips of wood and it did a great job. You are not supposed to be able to do this but with this saw and Olsen blades you have a winning combination.

The saw is shipped with a lot of oil or grease on the work table and blade holders and will need a bit of cleaning up before use but it is a fine tool.

1-0 out of 5 stars far from professional grade
I expected to get a high quality tool when ordered.
The arm hit the casing when RPM was at mid range and up, making it unworkable at that speed range.
The plastic dust port and drawer were very low quality.
I returned the tool, and am considering the 20" saws.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Joy to use!!
While I don't use a scroll saw every day I did manage to wear out my no name import after twenty years of use. Several weeks were spent compairing the different brands and models available. While there are better machines available for every day use, at a much higher price, this one stands out in the mid price crowd.
When the saw arrived it was bolted to the heavy wooden stand built for the old saw. What a surprise!! Almost no vibration through the entire range of speeds. No more tools needed for blade changes or inside cuts, as Delta included quick clamps top and bottom. No more reaching over the saw to adjust blade tension. The tension adjustment is at the top of the upper blade clamp. No more piles of saw dust building up under the saw as this saw has a built in dust collection port. This saw is a joy to use. I have cut mostly hardwood from 1/4" to 1-1/4" and the variable speed allows precise cutting. This saw is such a joy to use I find myself working on projects that I would never have attempted on the old saw. I am very pleased with this purchase.
If you are looking for a quality saw with loads of features, that won't empty your wallet, this is the saw for you!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good performance for low priced machine
I checked out most of the other machines available in this price range before I decided to buy the Delta. I have a custom wood shop and try to choose my tools and machines carefully. This is not an upper end machine but it also doesn't cost from five-hundred to a thousand dollars. I don't use a scroll saw often enough to spend a lot for one. What I wanted was the best machine I could get for a modest investment and one that would give professional results with as little effort as possible. I believe this Delta 16" scroll saw was just that.

As I compared this scroll saw to the others on the market I noticed that the Delta was heavier than the rest. With woodworking machines heavy is a good thing; it dampens vibration. Vibration impacts the quality of the cut. Also, I've used other Delta machines in the shop for years and know that they really stand behind thier equipment.

My supposition about the weight of the saw was correct. It cuts very smoothly and doesn't vibrate as much as the other machines I have used in the past. The blades mount quickly and easily with the quick release mechanism. I also liked the segmented blower assembly. It keeps the saw dust off the work and doesn't seem to drift like others I have used. The saw is attractive to me and well built. Even the storage drawer is nicely fitted and stays closed while the machine is running.

On the down side, I like a light on a scroll saw. It can be hard to see fine lines at time without extra light. The only light Delta offers for this saw, I think, is thier standard magnetic base lamp for about twenty dollars. It's a good lamp but the only place to mount the lamp where it will stay put is on the table. This can, and will get in the way. Not a big deal but it would be nice if they built in a light. The only other complaint I have about the machine is the location of the controlls. This is also just a personal preference but I like the controlls up top and in the front of the unit. The on-off switch and speed controll for this saw is under the table. Again, not a problem just a preference. ... Read more

It's hardworking, reliable, reasonable and outfitted with the king of fences—just four of the reasons you'll appreciate this saw. It's run by a gutsy 1-1/2 hp induction motor that drives the blade through even the toughest hardwoods without a shudder. Acknowledged throughout woodworkerdom as the best fence on the market, the Biesemeyer is unmatched for accuracy. A huge step up from the standard Delta fence, the Biesemeyer fence offers 30 inches of to-the-hairsbreadth cut capacity to the right of the blade, plenty for even big projects and sheet goods. Because it's dead-on accurate every time, you'll never have to check and recheck with a tape measure again. The 30-by-27 table and wing are cast iron, you get the durability and the stability you can't get with pressed steel. The carriage, too, is cast iron, and for you, that means no vibration and ultimate precision. And with the fence and table, your surface is a gigantic 54 inches wide. The deluxe miter gauge is sturdy and easy to angle; it rides without play in the slot. Now, we know lots of you take off that blade guard the minute you get a saw, but it's on there for a reason—your safety. And this one's got some nice features, locking in the up position without wedging in some scrap wood, and when you replace the insert, it releases automatically. The anti-kickbacks pawls and splitter are two safety features every saw should have. Designed for the contractor but equally at home in the woodworker's shop, this is a great workhorse of a saw.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars The Unknown review
I would like to review this saw that I ordered back in December, but it appears that Amazon's "usually ships in 1-2 weeks" in reality is a period that is closer to or longer than 4 months. As I recently got a notice that now it won't be shipping until April. Of course, I could be getting another notice that says it won't ship until May, or maybe I'll get it NEXT Christmas. Who knows....? But, isn't it fun guessing!

And, don't do like I did and order accessories for this saw. I may never get to use them.
--Amazon cancelled my order on this item after 5 months of waiting. Without even talking with me, and saying they cannot get this item. They cheated me out of the $100 credit I was to get for ordering $1000 in Dec. And, why is it still listed? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Biggest, baddest saw money can buy!!
I just finished a large timber framing project and this saw mad it soo much easier, you can cut thru any wood, the 7.5 is way more power than you will ever need, but i like it.the 18 inch blades are very hard to come by and pricy. I ran it with 230 on the job site but now it is in my shop on 460, not a hard conversion the hardest part is getting a electrican to rewire every thing (not many houses have 460 running to there house). This saw will cut thru any wood as if you just were pulling the arm,and for 7500 it isnt your average siding cutting, dado choping kindeling cutting radial arm saw. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Great saw but mail order is risky.
If you plan to buy the saw from Amazon, the saw will be delivered by a trucking company because its too heavy for UPS. You'll either need to get help to unload the saw from the truck or open the box in the truck and unload part by part.

The rip fence and fence guide came slightly damaged and I suspect it was damaged even before it left the factory - the box showed no signs of damage but the items were dented. Because the damage wasnt great enough to be worth the hassle of trying to return a 5-foot long box and then have to wait an unknown time for a replacement, I decided to keep it damaged - it leaves a bad taste though. Delta or Amazon probably knew of the damage and was betting (correctly) that it wouldnt be returned

The saw functions beautifully - its sturdy and all the parts that relate to alignment can be adjusted. Couple of minor complains - I wish the blade tilt wheel would have a positive stop at its maximum tilt - as it is now, the wheel feels like its tightening rather than stopping. I also wish the power cable didnt lead out of the dusty inside of the saw - a hole through the side and a rubber grommet would solve that.

If I had to do this again, I would have bought this in a store instead of by mail order so that its easier to return damage parts.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Table Saw
I bought this tool at Amazon.com. The extension wings are warped and I could not get the rip fence parallel to the miter slot, so I made my own extension wings and upgraded the fence to a Vega system. Other than that and a few blade adjustments, this system has worked very well for me.

5-0 out of 5 stars awsome saw
The real deal. Power power power!!! great fense. Only one bad thing the blade that comes with it, its junk, toss it out! buy a freud or a forest and a mobile base. Strong very well made, you won't be disapointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars my first big tool buy
I'm a self taught woodworker so when it came time to buy my first big tool I read reviews, talked to shop owners and found this to be the best for the money I could find. I read that the table saw is the heart of a good shop and this has been true. I've used it to resaw cherry into 3/4 x 6 boards from 3 1/2" thick x 18" wide stock and made my wife a lovely sofa table & mirror to match. I would buy this saw again in a heart beat. Just don't be afraid to buy a great saw and a very good blade -- it's a match made in heaven.

4-0 out of 5 stars good intermediate saw
first off, it is what it is... a 1-1/2 hp saw. not a 3hp cabinet saw. so no griping about power.but do hook it up 220v to get it up to 2hp, every little bit helps. it can handle pretty much anything... with an appropriate feed rate. my purchase was simple, i didnt have the [money] to drop on a unisaw, so i came back to reality and chose the contractors.

the set up was simple with the good instructions that came with it. takes about 3 hours to get it up and going. i was impressed to see that the fence was already accurately aligned. plan on buying a blade with this saw. mine came with a steel blade. basically worthless unless you have a hobby sharpening blades. [Another brand] offers some decent bargains on blades so the first blade doesnt have to break the bank, just be efficient.

my biggest recommendation for this saw is its ability to be upgraded. you can add cast iron extensions, upgrade the fence, even add a sliding table. pretty flexible with a fair initial cost.

my only complaint is that this saw is a right tilt. delta still doesnt offer the contractors in a left tilt. you can get it on the unisaws, but not contractors. ... Read more
