It's hardworking, reliable and reasonable—just three of the reasons you'll appreciate this saw. It's run by a gutsy 1 ½ hp induction motor that drives the blade through even the toughest hardwoods without a shudder. A nice step up from the standard Delta fence, the Delta Unifence Saw System fence offers a gigantic 50 inches of to-the-hairsbreadth cut capacity to the right of the blade, plenty for even big projects and sheet goods. A detail we love about the Unifence is that you can slide the front portion closer to you for more guidance and control when feeding sheet goods. Unifence has earned its reputation for absolute accuracy, and one pass on this saw will confirm that for you. There's also a low-profile setting in case you need more clearance between the guard and the fence. Because the 30-by-27 table and wing are cast iron, you get the durability and the stability you can't get with pressed steel. The carriage, too, is cast iron, and for you, that means no vibration and ultimate precision. The deluxe miter gauge is sturdy and easy to angle; it rides without play in the slot. Now, we know lots of you take off that blade guard the minute you get a saw, but it's on there for a reason—your safety. And this one's got some nice features, locking in the up position without wedging in some scrap wood, and when you replace the insert, it releases automatically. The anti-kickbacks pawls and splitter are two safety features every saw should have. Designed for the contractor but equally at home in the woodworker's shop, this is a great workhorse of a saw.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

This edition of Delta's highly acclaimed Unisaw features a left-tilt blade--which makes beveling both easier and safer, because material can't get pinched between the blade and fence (a recipe for kickback). This Unisaw packs a 3-horsepower, single-phase induction motor, so it's powerful, smooth, and quiet. Adding to the saw's smooth operation are the burly cast-iron trunnions. This saw is built to snuff out vibration. We also like how the triple V-belt drive eliminates belt slippage without minimizing the power from the motor. One of this saw's main selling points is its 50-inch Biesemeyer fence. The fence rides smooth, stays parallel, adjusts easily, and clamps down securely for hard-to-rival accuracy (Biesemeyer features a solid, cam-locking lever). There's also a hairline pointer and built-in tape measure. Hand wheels make blade height and angle easy to adjust--though, we must admit, it'd be nice to have a bit more knuckle clearance. Also, the included blade is fine for cutting salvage lumber--but, to do the saw justice, most users will want to upgrade to a better blade. --Jon Groebner ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This Delta is the best table saw I've used
I have a small home shop, and purchased this saw about 3 weeks ago. I love it. I don't do any heavy production work, just furniture and cabinet work, and this is the perfect saw. I can honestly say that I will have this saw for a long time. Power is great, blade control is excellent, and the 50" Biesmeyer fence system is spot on accurate. I highly recommend this saw to anyone looking to purchase a cabinet style table saw. Delta is the best.

5-0 out of 5 stars order the extension table!!
I am very happy with the purchase of the 36-821L Unisaw. Although they do not specify it, you need to order or build the right extension table or you will not be able to use the saw correctly. It seems that the saw comes with all the parts needed for the extension table except for the most important part, the extension table. I decided to build my own extension table and it ended up costing me half the price. The saw was very easy to put together, it did not take 5-6 hours like the other reviews stated. Only one problem with the saw so far and that is that the on/off switch seems to be defective and although the saw does work, i will have to get in touch with... and/or Delta to fix the problem. It also does come with a very wimpy blade so you should upgrade it as soon as possible.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great saw.
I bought the Delta left tilt arbor Unisaw. I'm very happy with it. I could have purchased either the Powermatic or the General. The attention to detail on the machining seems better on the Delta than the other machines.

5-0 out of 5 stars Delta Unisaw / 5 HP
I have tried and used many different table saws through the years, but find no stationary SHOP saw that I enjoy using more then the Delta 5 HP unisaw which I recently purchased. I also purchased the roller base with the saw. I have used many 3 hp Unisaws and loved them. I figured that for the few hundred more I have the 5 HP, why not! I love the power, the ease of setting up for the cut, the stability while ripping heavy MDF sheets, as well as the continued percision with unbelievable ease. This saw out performs any saw that I have ever used, including some very big shop saw names! I also have the 10" portable jobing table saw by Makita with the Rousseau stand for the field. Excellent in it's place.

3-0 out of 5 stars The Chevrolet of cabinet saws
THis is a good, solid saw at a very competitive price. It is much better than the older Deltas. Stll, it just doesn't stack up to the Powermatic, the General, or other saws that cost s few hundred dollars more. The table milling is average, arbor tilt mechanism is pretty good, belt connection to blade is prone to gathering dust and slipping during heavy use. The best features of this saw are the excellent laminated table extensions and the Biesmeier fence. Overall, this is s good saw for home or school shops, but it doesn't have the weight, solidity, acuracy, or refinement that you'd want for serious can=binet work or production runs. Oh, and the Delta mobile base is very very good and stable. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Among serious woodworkers who demand top quality tools in their shop, there's no debating the desirability of a Delta Unisaw. It's one of the few cabinet-styletable saws still made in the USA, and the benefits show up in the quality of the tool'sworkmanship and finish. The Unisaw's smooth operation can be traced to the widelyspaced, massive trunions which are machined from fine-grained cast iron and arecompletely adjustable to ensure the best possible alignment. The heavy cast-iron tableadds to the saw's stability and features a 3/8-by-3/4-inch T-slot on each side of the blade.Include the two extension wings and you have a generous cast-iron table surface of 36 by27 inches.

The single-phase, 3-horsepower induction motor is housed in a dust-sealed, fan-cooledenclosure, and power is transferred smoothly and efficiently via a positive-tractionthree-belt V-drive system. The motor cover has handy storage slots for your miter gaugeand table inserts, but more importantly, the inside is designed to maximize the airflow fordust collection and, in conjunction with the redesigned cabinet interior, funnel all the dustefficiently to the 4-inch dust port without a hitch.

This model comes with a 30-inch commercial Biesemeyer fence system, which requires acomplimentary table board (sold seperately.) While the basics of this popular fencedesign have been copied by competing saw and fence manufacturers, there's still nothingquite like the original. The Biesemeyer is made of the heaviest gauge steel we've seen ona T-square type fence, and the fence face itself is made of laminated 9-ply Finland birch, glued solidly in place--a construction method that eliminates warpage in the fence linethat the bolts or screws used in competing systems can cause. The fence locks to the frontguide rail using Biesemeyer's three-point locking system and automatically aligns thefence parallel to the blade when the lever is tightened down, providing reliable accuracyevery time. --Brian Trinen ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Hands down, the best saw period
This saw is the same base unit as the other 3hp, right tilt. The only difference is the fence system.

Everyone knows that the Unisaw is the Holy Grail of all saws, and it lives up to this reputation. Out of the box it was flawless. It required almost no further adjustment. Even with the crappy blade that comes with the saw, the cuts are near perfect. The cuts become perfect after you throw that blade away and replace it with a better one. I recommend the Forrest Woodworker II.

The 30" fence that came with this saw was in service about 10 minutes before I decided to replace it with the 52". The saw was a gift (great gift, huh) and had I ordered it myself, I would have ordered it with the bigger fence. I got on the Biesemeyer web site and bought the replacement front and rear rails to convert it to the larger fence. You only need to replace these components, as the fence is compatable with both. I bought the new components and "factory seconds", but they were in perfect condition.

I looked at the "other" saws and came within inches of buying one based on price. I even drove five hours to a competitive product's showroom to see their saw hands on. I'm glad that I didn't buy it because it doesn't compare to this unit. The Unisaw is easy to use, easy to set up and adjust, and makes woodworking a religious experience.

Would I recommend this saw? Yes! Yes! Yes! The only drawback to this saw is that most people wait too long to buy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent saw at a good price
I've wanted a Unisaw since first using one years ago in high school shop class. It was a good saw then; it's even a better one now.

The saw arrived on the date ... said it would. The delivery driver not only unloaded it from the truck, but wheeled it around to my shop behind the house and into the shop. Only gripe about Delta's packaging is that extension table wiggled loose from box and suffered minor damage. Delta should rework packaging so damage in shipment is minimized.

Assembly of saw was straightforward, following Delta's directions in the owner's manual. The fence did not arrive with the saw as ... informed me it had been damanged, and would send a new one as soon as possible. So for about a week I could only use the miter gauge and dream about ripping boards.

All told, once completely assembled, this saw lives up to my years of dreaming and anticipation of ownership. I look for several things in a table saw; accuracy of saw and fence, quiet operation, fit and finish, easy and safe to use. The Unisaw never lags in any of these requirements. The saw and fence were dead-on accurate out of the box. The start/stop button mounted to the left of the saw's center is the ideal location for the saywer. The stop button protrudes from the switch face, allowing me to turn the saw off with my knee if necessary. Handy thing when the cut sometimes goes a little awry. The start button face is recessed, so accidental starting is minimized. The blade guard isn't the greatest, but what OEM guard is? Still, it is better than the one on my last saw, and I plan to keep it in place for all through cuts until I can go aftermarket for a better guard.

The saw has plenty of power. Dadoing operations that would practically stall my old table saw barely lowers the RPM of this saw. Ripping thick stock should be no problem. The fit and finish of this saw are adequate, though the plastic motor cover kept wanting to slide down till I figured out how to secure it properly. I'd prefer it to be hinged rather than the way it attaches.
The saw starts and runs quietly. My last saw was terribly loud; even with hearing protection on it was a major distraction and made using the saw unpleasant. With the Unisaw, I can pick up a board and buzz it through without hunting around the shop for my ear muffs. It's that quiet.

...P>You can't go wrong with this saw. This particular configuration must be "optioned" up a bit at this price; i.e. you'll want the 30" extension table and a mobile base if your saw isn't destined to live in one designated spot in your shop. I got both for my small shop; makes the saw the perfect addition for it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best saw I've ever used. This is comercial duty.
I've used Grizzly, Jet and older Delta table saws and this is hands down the best I've used yet. This is one of the strongest 3hp units available on the market. At 220v this saw puts out 12 1/2 amps. This added power lets you use wide kerf blades which allows for smooth cuts and no bogging down. This saw is smooth and quite and is very compact too. The reason for getting this saw is because I have limited space available and with a moble base, you'll hardley notice that this is even in your basement. The miter slots are precise with no binding or sloppiness. If you're looking for a new saw shop around and ask questions but I guarantee you'll be back for this. Please do yourself a favor, and save yourself money in the long run buy this one now. I've gone through two different table saws and wish I had purchased this one first.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Terrific addition to my workshop....!
I finally saved enough cash up to buy a Unisaw. I also chose the one with the 30" table and fence to save space in my workshop. I paid a little extra for shipping and chose the FEDEX method. It arrived in a few day's with one problem....3 out the 6 packages arrived damaged, one so bad that the contents were "crushed". It happened to be the extension part of the mobile base. I quickly called the Tool Crib...and they sent me another out "FEDEX..overnight" and it arrived the next day. I was very happy with the service I recieved and would not hesitate to purchase more tools from them in the future. The saw took me an entire day to set up....and it was worth it. It's a powerhouse...and I'm sure it will suit my needs for years to come.

5-0 out of 5 stars The "Industry Standard"
The review by Mark Gonzalez is right on the money. The saw and fence are very high quality. The assembly took a little bit longer than I expected but, everything fit together perfectly. It helps to have a friend assist you uncrate (its very heavy, 400 lbs. or so). I would like to add comments about options. First, the mobile base is excellent. I can move the saw anywhere in my shop with ease with just my finger tips. That's important if you must share a garage/shop with a car. Second, The Forrest blade is remarkable. I had been planning to buy a planer but the rip cut with this blade is so smooth I'll defer that purchase until I need to smooth thicker stock than the Unisaw will handle. I bought my saw from TCOTN just before Amazon.com acquired their online business. I have nothing but good things to say about "Tool Crib" or "Amazon". ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars This is Accuracy?
I've lusted for one of these for years. I finally got it and was eager to make that first cut after spending 8 hours assembling the saw, fence, mobile base, outfeed table and Deluxe Uniguard. I thought I'd check the blade runout, first, just to make sure....It measured .115" difference across the width of my 10" "set and sand" CMT alignment blade blank as measured from the right side miter slot. That's almost an eighth of an inch! It required loosening the table from the base, plus the trunnions from the top, to realign the blade with the miter slots. Took six hours. I'd always thought that Delta alignment "out of the box" was legendary....If this is what you get from a Premium American Manufacturer, maybe I'll go Taiwanese next time. ... Also the particle board extension table was so badly warped across the narrow dimension that I had to put (4) 1-1/2" angle iron supports under it to get it reasonably flat. Otherwise the fence would not make the transition from table to extension surface.
I still like this saw, and all of the maladies were repairable, however, I get the distinct impression that quality control has taken a back seat to production numbers. The saw still represents a great value, and with careful setup, works magnificently, however, setup took me an entire weekend overall.
The saw assembly is huge, the mobile base is an absolute necessity in my two-car woodshop...The stock guard/splitter assembly (Isn't good), the Deluxe Uniguard is the only way to go, or the pricier Biesemeyer. Everything fitted together very well. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't go wrong
I have been a cabinetmaker for 20 years and have purchased at least 5 different table saws. None stand up to daily use like a Unisaw. Each time I am in the market for a new saw I do alot of research to see what is availble and each time I foolishly came to the conclusion I could not justify the expense of a Unisaw. I own one of these models already and am purchasing another. If you are tring to decide between left or right tilt consider what you will be doing. If you need to cut alot of miters in melamine or other britle material consider the left tilt model. If you run different blade thicknesses or a dado head you will need to get a right tilt. The left tilt is safer to miter on. The right tilt will always keeps the fence accurate because the distance from the arbor shoulder to the fence remains the same.
These are all great, smooth running, last a liftime saws that are designed to run eight hours a day 7 days a week.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not thats a saw
I spent quite some time researching cabinet saws to upgrade my Delta Contractors saw that provided many years of good service. I finally settled on the Delta LE with the Biesemyer fence, rear extension and sliding table.

I assembled the saw myself which was no small feat but it can be done as long as you don't mind going back and sanding the metal table because you poured out so much sweat it stained it and started rust. The fit and finish on this machine is very good. Every thing lined up and went together well. None of the hardware was missing and the instructions were adequate insuring that it was assembled correctly.

I was a little disappointed with the grinding and finish on one of the extension wings. The mobile base also needs another look by the engineers. If the saw is moved to an unleveled surface it is difficult to stabilize especially the rear wheels, which can't be adjusted without taking the saw out of the base UGH!

The jury is still out on the fence system. I have owned two saws that came with the Delta Unifence and decided to give the Biesemeyer a look see. While the fence is accurate and was dead parallel to the blade right out of the box I'm not sure I like the gap formed between the table edge and the glide rail. It seems to always be full of something. The clean lines and connections of the Unifence never presented this problem.

All and all I am very pleased with this saw. With the rear out feed table and sliding table attachments, it makes awkward cuts a breeze. Cuts that used to bog down the contractor saw cut like butter on the Unisaw. I highly recommend the saw and these options for a small one-man shop such as mine.

I'm adding a comment on the sliding table which I didn't have assembled when I wrote the review. Don't bother with this unless you are prepared to cut 8 inches off your guide bar and 8+ inches off the front and back guide rails of the fence system as well as loosing your extension wing.

And the jury is still out on the fence system itself.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very impressed
I upgraded from my Powermatic 49A contractors saw to this Delta cabinet model. What a difference! This Delta cuts through hardwood like butter.

The saw comes almost completely assembled aside from the extention wings. It probably only took me 45 minutes to get everything up & running. I didn't have to tweak any measurements on the saw itself. I did have to make a very minor adjustment on the miter guage, but I expected more tweaking.

The details are what make this saw great. Things like the storage slots for the wrenches & miter gauge, and the brackets for the Biesemeyer fence storage are great ideas.

I would have said this saw was perfect in the first 2 days of using it, but I then attempted to use the blade guard. I thought it would be nice to have the clear plastic guard to assist in dust control, but I was wrong. First, the guard just didn't fit around the nut & washer behind the blade, so I had to use a Dremmel to reshape the metal of the guard. Then I found that if you mount the guard as instructed, the plastic guard will not lock in the up position b/c it hits the table surface prematurely. Then I found it impossible to remove the blade inserts w/ the guard in place. So now I'm back to no guard & loving it.

My only other critique is that my Powermatic fence (very similar to the Biesemeyer) had a teflon washer/foot that rode along the back rail. On the Delta, the Biesemeyer fence only rides along the front rail & along the tablesaw surface. I prefered it not scraping along the tablesaw surface (even though there are pads under the fence).

Aside from those little issues, I am VERY happy w/ this saw.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Saw Ever!
This is my first and last table saw! Easy to set up and cuts perfectly with little to no adjusting right out of the crate. The moble base is an excellent accessory that make it easy to roll to the side when not in use. You will not go wrong ordering this saw. Trust me, you will NOT be disappointed. Excellent customer service from Delta. The only problem that I had was with the Biesemyer fence. Seems that Biesemyer had a bad production run on the rails that fit this saw. Called Biesemyer and they sent a new set of rails without delay. If you have problems with the holes not aligning up with the table saw, let Biesemyer know. Other than that, excellent buy!

5-0 out of 5 stars You will be happy
this is a great tool. It may often be more than you actually need, but I can't imagine it ever being less than exceptional. If you have the room and the money, I would not hesitate to buy this saw.

You will want to consider where you will put it and how you will get it there. With the 50" fence it is very big, and your 220V needs to be located correctly so the cord can reach and you are not tripping on it. These are things I did not think clear through before the saw arrived and I should have. The other thing to think about is that it is extremely heavy, and it ships in effectively one piece. I needed a lot of help getting it into a basement shop, and after I got it there I decided I could never move. Assembly is simple, and everything is rock solid. After you have it in place, all that weight (and the associated power) is a wonderfull thing.

I am very happy with the fence, and have no complaints about the mobile base, though if the floor is not level, it does not have much clearance when you are moving the saw. ... Read more

This model comes with a 50-inch commercial Biesemeyer fence system andaccompanying table board. While the basics of this popular fence design have beencopied by competing saw and fence manufacturers, there's still nothing quite like theoriginal. The Biesemeyer is made of the heaviest gauge steel we've seen on a T-squaretype fence, and the fence face itself is made of laminated 9-ply Finland birch, gluedsolidly in place--a construction method that eliminates warpage in the fence line that thebolts or screws used in competing systems can cause. The fence locks to the front guiderail using Biesemeyer's three-point locking system and automatically aligns the fenceparallel to the blade when the lever is tightened down, providing reliable accuracy everytime. --Brian Trinen ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Bought It Used; But Happy!!
...I've read all the rave about the time it takes to put this saw together; but I got mine already assembled and delivered. After looking it over, I decided to disassemble part of the table and fence rails to see just how hard it would be to put it back together. It took me about 1 hour to remove and reinstall all the pieces. This saw was engineerd for the hobbiest as well as the professional. All the praise you read is true about this saw. It's made in the good 'ol USA and is well designed and engineered. It cuts like no other saw out there. Plenty of HP to take on the tough cuts in hard woods. The Biesemeyer fence is also tops. It is definately commercial grade and built like a tank. A little heavy; but moving it is very easy when it's set up right. My kind of woodworking doesn't require removing the fence that often, so it will stay attached to the table most of the time. The mobil base is a plus and a must have. It makes moving the saw easy and is really simple to operate. You'll need some extra room in your shop or garage for this fine piece of machinery. ...

5-0 out of 5 stars Satisfied buyer of the Unisaw
I purchased this saw 1/20/03. Per Amazon's notification they shipped it two days later and it arrived in 3 days from South Dakota I think. Free freight was great. The semi trailer truck pulled into my driveway and a very helpfull lady truck driver unloaded the saw with her liftgate onto my flatbed trailer which made it easy to haul the 100 yds to my workshop. I had no damage to the saw from shipping although the cardboard box was ripped on the saw. Duly noted on the paperwork for insurance purposes. With help we put the saw on a dolly and rolled it down a ramp into my shop. Assembly went smoothly. The mobile base moves smoothly. The saw was perfectly aligned, all stops were dead on, table extensions matched nicely. I purchased the Biesemeyer fence system and it's nice. A small adjustment to square it to the mitre slot. The only thing that gave me some aggravation is the extension table top. After assembly and mounting to the Biesemeyer rails it has moved and isn't flat to the table extension so the fence hit's the ridge of the extension wing. It appears the tabletop is slightly bowed. It's made of flake board stuff. I've worked around this problem with a piece of adhesive paper that filled this gap and the fence rides over the wing without bumping. The saw cuts just like it's supposed to. The combination carbide blade that comes with the saw makes nice smooth cuts. The dust port is well designed and clears all the dust out. The motor cover design is just fine. It pulls off easily and reseats the same. Being plastic makes it light and easy to handle. The 3 hp motor has power to spare, and shows it when using the saw to cut dados. I like the Biesemeyer fence system, mounted "T" slots on top for board buddies, first project was to make a Tenon jig that mounts over the fence, works perfectly. Next project after building a woodworking bench is to fabricate an outfeed table. I've used other saws, but never anything as nice as this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sweet!
I am the envy of my woodworking friends! ;-)
This thing rocks. Solid and powerfull, this thing handles everything I've thrown at it. The accessories that came with it are great, as well. And the Biesemeyer fence is fantastic! Having the rolling base is a plus, as well. On the downside, it was tough to put it all together because it is HEAVY and there are many parts. Plus, the bags that held all of the screws fell apart so I spent some time just sorting the screws, washers, nuts, etc into piles. Things would have been much easier with an extra set of hands - especially when installing the cast iron extensions. But, once it's all in place, aligned and square it is fantastic!

4-0 out of 5 stars difficult set up but works well
If I could rate the saw in different categories I would give it 3 stars for the set up and 5 stars for its performance. Here are some of the problems I had. I couldn't easily tell which cast iron extension wing went on the left and which on the right. The wings aren't marked. After researching and analyzing the picture in the manuals in great detail I finally figured out that the left one has a countersunk screw hole in it. Also two of the pretapped holes in the guide tube were misaligned. This wasn't that big a deal because there are a bunch of other holes in the guide tube to use to attach to the front rail. In general there are a lot of holes in the rails and no explicit directions about where they should line up with the cast iron tables. This was easy to address but still mildly irritating. By holding the rails to the table and sliding it left or right I could figure out where to align it. One major objection I have is that the Z bracket system isn't used to attach the extension table to the cast iron wing in the Biesenmeyer model. It's used for the Unifence model. It would really simplify the stabilization and attachment of the extension table. It was a struggle to attach the extension table. In order to align the extension table flush to the cast iron table one person has to hold the extension table up while another one clamps it together. But the underside of the wings and table don't have a convenient surface to clamp together so it ended being misaligned a lot. I eventually just put a long clamp across the table, essentially squeezing the front and back rail against the extension table which held it in place. So the assembly was irritating but it's just a minor inconvenience. Another issue I had was the side extension table is substantially shorter than the one pictured on the box and in the manual. It barely was long enough to get the 50" distance from the saw blade. I was impressed that the Biesenmeyer face was absolutely parallel to the saw blade right out of the box. Also I was pleasantly suprised that the witness line on the fence was only 1/16" off. I think Delta does a good job in aligning things properly at the factory. Overall it was a frustrating set up but the blade/fence are parallel, the table top is flat and stable which is what really matters to me. I didn't go to the lengths that other reviews did in checking the flatness of the cast iron surface. All I did was put a straight edge on the table top and adjusted things to keep the surfaces flush. If your livelihood depended on it I guess such minute differences would matter but I'm a DIY/woodworking hobbiest.

5-0 out of 5 stars my saw can beat up your saw
I served one year of a machine build apprenticeship before becoming a toolmaker so I have enough tools and knowhow to check out a saw.Mine came out of the box dead on,yes there was a little damage to the outfeed table, and yes it took all day to set up,but the saw,the blades, and fence all perform very well.So if you are looking to buy a serious piece of equipment you should consider the 5hp unisaw,on the other hand if you think you are getting in over your head, you probably are.Good luck CP.

4-0 out of 5 stars New upgrade
I recently purchased this saw and am totally satisfied. ...

This saw has PLENTY of power, a very accurate fence, and the table top is nice and flat. Some time and adjustments are required to get this tool set up perfectly, but once it is set up, it is set!

The blade was not set at 90 degrees to the table out of the box, but 5 minutes is all it takes to adjust this. The extension wings have room to adjust them so they can be flat with the rest of the table-take your time. Everything is adjustable on this tablesaw, so take your time, make your measurements, and adjust it accordingly.

The only thing keeping this from getting 5 stars is the miter gauge. It is kind of cheap to put [an inexpensive]gauge in with a saw of this caliber. I will soon be upgrading this, but this is the ONLY fault that I have found with the saw.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good tool, need adjustments out of the box
After getting 642lbs of saw unloaded, I unpacked and assembled the saw. The blades that come with this package are excellent! The main issue I had with the saw was that the blade was 1-2 degrees off from perpendicular to the table surface. I eventually figured out how to make the adjustment, which is a bolt with a jam nut to keep it in place. The Biesemeyer fence is nice, and the distance calibration is easy. The fence is sturdy, accurate and very easy to adjust. The out feed table is a nice addition, but I had to drill holes thru the back angle bracket to attach the unit to the saw. The 5HP motor wastes no time getting the blade to speed and has never even thought about bogging. The machined parts seem pretty nice, but the table sections are ~0.030 from flat, which took some adjusting to get the rip fence to easily slide over the section joints. All in all I am very happy with the saw, after the adjustments.

2-0 out of 5 stars not what I expected from Delta
I've owned this saw for a little more than two months and have to say the saw performs well. It's the Biesemeyer Fence and table system that is part of a never ending problem (Biesemeyer is now own by Delta). All previous reviews found assembly problems with the side and out feed tables. Reviews that seem to have vanished? The cast iron wings tables are also anything but flush with the main table deck. I would check in to other saws if I had to do it over. The unisaw was a great saw, but feel delta has let thing go down hill. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great scroll saw at an even greater price
I have been doing various types of woodworking for many years, both as a hobby and as a job. One day during a job an older gentleman who lived in the house next door approached me while I was hanging doors and said "hey you wanna see some real woodworking" and brought me into his house to show me beautiful pieces of marquetry and intarsia. I was dumb-founded and decided to go out and buy a scroll saw. I payed [money] for this one and let me tell you it was the most gratifying purchase of a tool I ever made. It does everything from fret-work to marquetry and the variable speed feature is fantastic. The arm is steady and stable...only 1 minor problem and that is that I over-layed a piece of 1/4" plywood on the top of the table to facilitate smoother turning of my pieces.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great scroll saw
I now have 3 delta power tools, including this scroll saw. I am pleased with the quality and design. Setup is simple and goes quickly. Have a rag on hand to wipe off the rust-free oil though. This saw has everything I needed, including higher speeds to cut through hard woods. I only buy delta blades, they seem to last longer than others from the hardware store. I did buy a desk lamp to use with this scroll saw, you definately need one. Much better quality than the Craftsman stuff I looked at. I highly recommend this scroll saw.

5-0 out of 5 stars Delta 40-540 16" Variable Speed Scroll Saw
Excellent value and performance. This tool includes almost 50 pounds of weight with a variable speed induction motor and a quick change blade mechanism. The saw is well dampened from vibration and natural harmonics at any speed are minimal. The speed range is excellent and the tool saws beautifully. Blade change is straight forward. What more would you want for the price?

4-0 out of 5 stars Tension Trouble II
I had the same experience as the previous reviewer Bill Kos. Something in the front of the arm broke and it had to be replaced. I have also continued to have problems with that rubber disk in the front of the arm that helps to tension the blade. It tends to slip out and eventually rips apart. The black rubber ring that keeps the tensioning lever from unscrewing due to vibration also broke. Delta should provide extra rubber disks and rubber rings! Even so, assuming the break in the arm is a bit of a rarity and given the cost, I've gotten a lot of good use out of this machine and would recommend it. Unlike some other reviewers I fould it easy to assemble, not too loud and the blades easy enough to change.

5-0 out of 5 stars Smooth Sailing
I bought this scroll saw because I trust the Delta name, but I was dubious because of some of the reviews I'd read. Well, I'm happy to report that not only is this machine easy to assemble and adjust, but it held its own against a small herd of twelve year old kids at 4H summer camp this year. Those kids dished out some rough use and they broke several blades, too. But this saw made it through four days of woodworking classes during camp week, and helped the kids turn out some nice wood pieces, too, all things considered. It's a major improvement over the ten year old, 1.4 amp Dremel scroll saw that the county 4H Leaders Association had given me to use last year. This Delta model has power, speed, and accuracy. The variable speed is a great feature for matching the tool to the work. I filled requests from several of the camp counselors for scrolled wooden items to take home. Now, it looks like I'm going to be busy with my wife's requests for projects to use in her pre-school teaching job since I'm getting pretty good with the saw. No problems so far! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Purchase!
I am so thrilled with the purchase of this saw. I never would have thought that I would be ordering a saw from Amazon.com! But I have built up such a trust with them with many book purchases that I decided to take the chance!

This saw has everything I need at a price I could afford. I researched for several weeks before making this purchase. In the past with the older saws that I have it would take anywhere from 2-5 min, or longer if something went amiss to reset for each setup for fretwork, with this saw it takes a mere few seconds. This saw is heaven !!

The Shopmaster MS210 is a simple, straightforward workhorse that promisesease and accuracy with every cut. Backing up that promise is the 13 amp, 5200 rpmmotor that will take your 10-inch blade clean through a two-by-six or a four-by-four in asingle pass. The scale is clear and easy to read, even when you're cutting half a degree, and positive stops are provided at 0, 22-1/2, and 45 degrees. A built-in, extra-wide one- piece fence accommodates wider materials. If you're mitering, you'll appreciate that theMS210 will cut a two-by-four at a 45-degree angle flat or on edge in one pass. Delta'sclear blade guard retracts as the cut is made, never exposing the user to the blade's edge. And even better, the electric blade brake automatically halts the blade within seconds. While this is a powerful saw, it's remarkably lightweight at 28 pounds, offering ease ofmovement in the small home workshop or easy portability for taking it from job to job-- or maybe just outside to build that deck you've always wanted. --Kris Jensen- VanHeste ... 5-0 out of 5 stars MS275VP Delta Compound Miter Saw
I received the VP saw package on the 18th of December; one day earlier than estimated. All of the contents arrived as advertised in the value pack. Nice saw, plus the extra's are nice, especially the tool-belt and tape measure!! I took the saw out of the box and checked squareness of the blade, fence, etc. All were close enough for the job I was doing. Only adjustment I needed to make was a little more depth of cut when cross-cutting a 2 x 6. It was quick and simple to adjust. I used the saw to frame and constuct a new wooden fence (85 linear feet-a 2 day job). It made short work of cross-cutting the 2 x 4's and the 2 x 6's. The saw breezed through even the 2 x 6 treated lumber. It was worth the purchase just on the 1 job I did so far. It seems to be very solidly built. It's not light, but I'll take the little extra weight to get rigidity and durabilty. The only negative was the degree markings are printed on a sheet metal scale. I'd have prefered them to be raised cast letters that were part of the table. However, after 1 job I can't tell I've even used the saw. It should last me a lifetime. I like the numerous preset angles as well. Looking forward to making some more sawdust. I plan on building 2 decks before summer. This should really give it a work-out. I'm please with the results I received from this saw. Good value vs. price. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Delta TS220VP 10" Bench Saw Value Pack
This review is an update reflecting a couple of months of regular use. I've deducted one star for the throat insert, as detailed below.

NOT IN THE AD: The extras included in the value pack are an extra 36-tooth blade, a tool belt, a 25-ft steel tape, a 9-in level, a builder's square, and a 25-ft extension cord. The base is plastic, but should be durable.

ASSEMBLY: Assembly took over an hour, due mainly to the time required to positively identify the many fasteners.

SETUP: Heel-to-toe blade alignment, miter gauge alignment, and fence alignment were acceptable out of the box. Blade tilt stops and indicator were off, and after adjustment they did not return dependably to the preset stops.

This not only decreases accuracy, but leads to frustration and potentially dangerous situations when ripping thin material and cross-cutting short workpieces. Another problem is the non-standard miter gauge slots which do not accept after-market accessories such as featherboards and tenon jigs. ... Read more
