Amazon.com Review

This is a rough-and-ready stand that will accommodate virtually any miter saw, but it's the oversize wheels that let you cart your saw practically anywhere--even up and down stairs--that really make it a winner. Built-in rollers support longer stock and are smooth right out of the box. The aluminum fence comes with a stop for easy duplicate cuts, and a stock-lift inhibitor keeps your cut piece from picking up after the cut. Sturdy steel legs adjust to your preferred work height, and when you're done, the stand folds quickly and easily, ready to roll. It's 84 pounds without a saw, but you'd never know it. -- Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

  • Aluminum adapter rails accommodate any manufacturer's saw

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice-but heavy
I am a full-time contractor specializing in turn-of-the- century restorations. I recently purchased a new Bosch 10" sliding compound saw, and decided to splurge and purchase the Delta saw stand for my new saw. The saw was delivered promptly, but the box was damaged in transit. The stand seemed OK. After unpacking, I was impressed with the quality of the unit. Heavy gauge steel, nicely finished. Assembly was tedious, it took several hours, counting looking through my piles for several missing bolts and nuts. However, I like the thing. It seems very stable, and the wheels are handy. (I really haven't used it yet.) Biggest problem is its weight. The stand and saw together are over 110lbs. A bit cumbersome to load in and out of a truck each day. Even collapsed it is very awkward to move around corners, up stairs, etc. I have decided not to permanately bolt the saw to the stand, and use metal clamps for attachment once the stand is where I want it. But like I noted, overall it is a nice thing to mount your saw to.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent stand with some words of caution
I bought this stand to go with the Bosch 3915 10" SCMS saw. Because of the large base of these saws, other SCMS's and I would suspect most 12" chop saws, you can't utilize the supplied support and stop. I also could not utilize the cord wrap brackets as the mounting hardware interfered with them, which isn't a big deal to me, but worth mentioning.

The build: 60-90 minutes, you'll go faster with a cordless drill with a socket attachment. This will likely also prevent you from over-torquing and breaking any fasteners.

The good: Sturdy and stable though a bit heavy with wheels and a handle for easy mobility. Outfeed supports for long boards and easily collapsible for storage. The DeWalt, even being more expensive doesn't have the flexibility for movement that this does (a major consideration if you need to move it from site to site). The stand is HEIGHT ADJUSTABLE, for anyone whose stood at a miter saw for hours and ends up with a sore back from bending over, this is a very good feature!

The bad: The afforementioned fact that some accessories won't work. I wondered during the set-up why Delta doesn't offer 2 different model stands, and offer them at less cost. If you have a saw that will fit the standard MDF mount then you can, if not you have to take that off and use different brackets. You end up with a lot of leftover parts either way. It's heavy, but that lends to the sturdiness of it so you take the bad with the good there. Some people complain about having to set up the outfeed supports each time but if you mark the posts like someone else suggested, it's a no-brainer.

There is some small room for improvement so I'm giving it 4 stars, but as with any "universal" stand there's going to be different issues for different saws.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Stand, But You Need To Make A Little Modification
I became interested in one of these saw stands after seeing one set up in a woodworking store. I was quite impressed with how heavy duty it seemed and particularly with the capacity of the outriggers. So I got one.

After I got it home I read some owner's comments suggesting that the enclosed hardware was crap. I have to agree. I didn't strip any of the bolts out, but it's a wonder. They're too soft, I believe. At least all the necessary hardware was included.

The only other problem has to deal with the stand's inability to be left unattended when it's folded in a semi-upright position. Some folks have suggested kickstands but I decided to work with what was already there: First, I stood the saw upright in the folded condition and let it balance on one leg, blocking the wheel so it wouldn't get away from me. Then, I drilled a hole through one of the hinges where the two flat metal plates overlap when the stand is folded. I then inserted a 5/16" bolt with a plastic handwheel through the hole. With the bolt in position, the stand can't move, even though it's sitting at about a 75 degree angle. I also painted the plastic handwheel dayglo orange so the reason for immobility would catch my eye if I got stupid one day. Now it works great!

As far as using the thing, it's great. I've got a 12" Dewalt CMS on mine. I don't regret buying the stand at all.

4-0 out of 5 stars Too small for big saws...
This is a well made unit for the price. I have used mine for about 8 months on the jobsite, and in the shop.

The only problem I have with this stand is it is not designed to fit the big saws (12 inchs) Delta, or otherwise. You have to remove the MDF table that is used for mounting, and then reverse the setup using the provided rails. If you do not reverse the setup, the side with the wheels attachted will not close up for movement.

This unit is quite combersome with my big Delta attached, but does a good job of rolling, and is very steady when set up.

The out riggers are nice for working with long lengths of materials.

I would highly recommend this unit for the price.

5-0 out of 5 stars Happy Customer - Easy to Use.
The only complaint I have with my stand is I bought it shortly after Delta released it and I paid too much.

It did take longer to assemble than I expected but the handbook was reasonably well written and led me through the process. This stand is well designed and full of little features you discover through use. The cord storage rack on the back is simple and adds a lot of utility to the stand. Simple spring loaded levers make setup and breakdown simple and the stand is sturdy in the setup configuration (on reasonably level surfaces). I will say that changing configuration can be a handful with my heavy 12" Delta saw on the stand; but it is one of those things you just learn to do.

I recently helped my son frame up a large storage shed on his property. He is a construction superintendent and has access to a lot of neat toys. After watching me drag the stand out of my pickup, roll it over to his slab and set it up in about one minute he just said "Cooollll". That about says it! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Steady and Practical
I purchased a portable planer and found that I needed that extra work space that could be freed up by using a stand. I found this stand to be tip resistant without taking up too much space. It assembled quickly with the help of my 2 and 3 year old sons.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Stand -- Solid as a rock
I bought this stand for my 12 1/2" Delta 22-560 planer and it's great. It was super easy to assemble and it's rock solid. The working height is about perfect.

I considered building my own stand but a woodworking show vendor recommended this stand and he was right. If you have a 12" or 12-1/2" Delta planer, this is a great platform for it. The top is some kind of MDF but and it's hard as a rock. If you have another brand of planer and it fits on this top, I suspect it would be easy to drill mounting holes for it. The Delta 22-560 is 23 5/8" x 21 1/2" (L x W) and there's a couple of inches to spare in each dimension on the stand. I'd imagine most portable planers in the 12" to 13" class will fit.

Apparently there is also a mobile base specifically made for this stand (Delta PN:50-323) but I've not seen it in person. Since my shop is on the small side, I may buy the mobile base as well.

I will add an adjustable height roller table to use as an out feed surface and that should complete the planer workstation in my shop.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great product if all the parts came together
I ordered it and when it came the box was opened and parts were missing. I figured maybe atleast they would have put it back in the box or UPS wouldn't deliver it but i was wrong. I have called and are suppose to recieve the parts. We'll see when i get them. Other then that I like delta products very much.

4-0 out of 5 stars optional stand
Delta is now offering a free stand with a purchase of a model no. 22-565 planer. Thisis for your information only. You may want to review this situation. If this stand is the same one your offering, then my review is that this is a strong durable stand at a good price. Easy to assemble and smart looking.

4-0 out of 5 stars I like it
I found this table very easy to assemble. It is very solid and compact. It will be easy to store and transport. So far so good!!

3-0 out of 5 stars adequate, but not ideal
The picture does not match the stand - mine is black, and has only one bolt at each anchor point. There were no instructions in the box, but it wasn't hard to figure out. You have to do the bolts up _really_ tight for it to be rigid (I used two wrenches). However, it does hold my saw quite well. I would have preferred rubber feet, as the plastic ones don't offer much friction -- when ripping a board the whole stand sometimes slides across the floor. It's also quite expensive for what it is, especially when you compare to the price of the saw itself.

1-0 out of 5 stars So Bad, it's almost funny
I purchased the Delta 36-519 steel stand for my table saw
in October of 2001. When I received it, at first I thought
they sent me the wrong stand. No that was the stand alright.
Here is why you may wish to consider avoiding buying this
stand. The stand pictured above is gray and it has two bolts
for each support upper and lower. Mine had one bolt per
support. That in itself would not be a major problem but what
is the problem is that the metal they used is around the
thickness of cheap sheet metal. If you put the stand together
and pick it up it shakes like jello.
The person that wrote the reveiw that liked the stand may have
bought it when perhaps it once was the stand pictured above or
of a better quality.

5-0 out of 5 stars Delta Steel Stand
I can't believe Amazon.com had this! It was the exact stand I needed for my bench saw...Very cool!

(Update to other comments...The stand I received is the exact one pictured above. Gray with enough bolts to properly secure the stand and bolt down my table saw. I have used it with my saw for over two years and it has not fallen apart and I have not needed to tighten it. Very dependable however I do agree about the feet. My stand's feet are plastic which does tend to cause it to slide when I am working with large pieces of wood. Rubber feet would have been better. If you do not get the exact stand then send it back and demand the gray one.) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very sturdy universal stand
I was so pleased with how rigid the stand supported my Craftsman planer; I drove right back to the store and bought three more. Heavy-duty construction reduces vibration and the possibility of injury while working with large pieces of stock. I could support my truck on one of these. Assembly is a no brainer. You get what you pay for. (QUALITY) As for holes not matching up to some machines, a drill takes care of that.

4-0 out of 5 stars Universal is right!
I purchased this stand for my belt/disc sander and it fits perfectly. I also discovered it is just right for my bench top drill press so I purchased another. Nice and sturdy with convenient storage underneath.

4-0 out of 5 stars Stand for Delta scroll saws
Instructions for assembly were non-existent. The parts diagram, which was also to serve as the assembly directions, was unclear as towhich sites were to use lock washers in assembling. While there are provisions for the installation of casters, they would only allow the use of the type of casters which are made for the Performax Sander stands. These casters are very sturdy; can lock either/or both wheel rotation and caster direction; and they are expensive... ... Read more
