Innovation in a powerful package, with convenience to boot--that's what you get with Triton’s 3-1/4 horse router, including something we haven’t seen anywhere else: the ability to change bits without taking the router out of the table or reaching underneath the table. When it’s fully plunged, the router brings the collet above the table, saving you time and effort. Brilliant. The body travels smoothly and effortlessly on its huge columns. There are three ways to adjust depth, too: free plunge and lock the lever, use the clever handle-winder mechanism for a more controlled rack-and-pinion adjustment, or use the micro adjustment knob for the finest changes throughout the depth range. The soft start feature won’t pull this heavy router out of your hands, and the variable speed switches easily. The handles feel good and offer excellent control, too, a plus because this is a hefty piece. In the table or out, we’d like this one in our shop.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Satisfied
Bear in mind that this is the only router I have ever owned. The router lives up to the hype as far as I can tell. I've had no problems with the collet but I wonder if those who have had trouble are using 1/4" bits with the collet reducing adapter ?. The geared and free plunge work well. The ability to raise the collet out of the base and lock it for bit changes is a fantastic feature. There is PLENTY of power. It is solidly made. My two criticisms would be: 1. The user manual is too brief and hard to understand: Since the controls are interlocked, you do have to operate them in a specific order. Get this wrong and it might seem that the mechanism is jammed. 2. It is a bit on the heavy side. To be expected from a relatively high power motor, but awkward if you are routing free hand - not in a table. I'd give it five stars if I had more experience with other models.

2-0 out of 5 stars SO FAR..
This thing seems to have a lot of power SO FAR..[I hope it doesn't break] the other reviews are really scaring me.... I wish I had gone with the Porter-Cable although it uses smaller bit sizes.

You can't go wrong if Norm loves his Porter-Cable router enough to build a router table for it!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars nice design, lousy manufacturing
I bought this in Feb on sale, but didn't use it until May 24. I am building a router table and was using a upward spiral bit to route out the ledge for the plate. First, using the triton bushing plate, I found it must have some major runout because the groove was filled with brass shavings. Second, the collet could not hold onto the bit and on the fourth side of the groove, came completely out. Third, the plunge rods receivers have brass inserts; when i raised the router, the brass insert was just sitting at the base thumbing its nose at me. Oh yeah, it wouldn't free plunge.

After the initial hype I read in the magazines, I was sorely disappointed. Don't buy it until they improve the manufacturing process or whatever is causing it to be so substandard

2-0 out of 5 stars poor quality
I recently purchased this router and upon arrival found the winding mecanism faulty the collet apperared flimsy only one cut.
The overall concept seems good but quality of product very poor, needless to say I have returned it

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Table Router
This router is outstanding! I use it mainly as a dedicated table router. It is a real joy to be able to change router bits from above the table, and the height micro-adjustment and variable speed control are real assets, as well. I now cut dados, dovetails, and moldings in less than half the time required with my older PC plunge router, and I don't have to lift the router out of the table and fumble around with two knuckle busting wrenchs when I need to change bits.

I have used the router to cut sliding dovetails in table legs made from VERY hard oak and pecan. It never even slowed down. I have also cut 1/2" dados in oak in one pass, as well as oak moldings, with this product. It performed these tasks effortlessly.

Though it's priced at the top end of the price scale, it's worth every penny---and when you add in the included circle cutting trammel and edge guide which are usually extra cost options with other manufacturers, the price isn't really out of line.

Very pleased with this product!

The only suggestion I have is that Triton could do a better job with their owner's manual for this product. The one provided is a bit skimpy on details. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Locking Problem
I bought one of these a few months ago and although in principal it is a great tool, it suffers from some poor design. In particular the locking mechanism. On my "Not So Super Jaws" there is (or was) a small star washer which is supposed to retain the rod which actuates the locking mechanism. It goes into a well on the locking release plate and is held in place by this small miserable star washer. When this falls off, as mine has since I first got it, the tool becomes useless. How come on an otherwise excellent piece of engineering did this come about. Why did they not use a proper circlip, small split pin or even dare I say it a threaded rod and a lock nut ?

Very very dissapointed with mine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Triton "SuperJaws"
I bought the DeWalt short lived version of the SuperJaws. It took me 2 years to track one down, before Triton sold them here .One of the best investments I have made (Tool Wise)!I use it for welding ,clamping and as a support bench for my portable tools.Triton also makes acessories like Machinist Jaws(like a pipe vise)Log jaws and Tool Baskets(lock into the slots on the side of the SuperJaws) , all available through Triton http://www.triton.net.au/products/sj_2.html

5-0 out of 5 stars The best...
Superjaws is clearly the heads down best portable workbench (versus the workmate and Fisch). Great for the weekend woodworker - clamp a sheet of plywood or use it for your dovetail jig. Use it to hold crown molding to cope, or use it to cut or bend pipe. Assembly is a cinch, but takes 15-30 minutes depending upon your skill level.

5-0 out of 5 stars A TREMENDOUS ADDITION TO ANYONES WORKSHOP OR SERVICE VEHICLE
THE TRITON SUPER JAWS HAS BEEN AN EXCELLENT ADDITION TO MY TOOL INVENTORY. AS A SMALL ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR IT IS LIKE HAVING AN EXTRA SET OF HANDS, AND AS A WEEKEND WOODWORKER IT IS ALWAYS HOLDING SOMETHING FOR ME. THE NO SLIP JAWS AND THE CLAMPING FORCE ARE EXCELLENT. IT FOLDS TO A VERY MANAGEABLE SIZE. AS AN ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR I LOVE IT BECAUSE IT DOESEN'T MARK THE SURFACE OF MY PIPE, THREADED ROD, OR STRUT. JUST AN ALL AROUND AWESOME TOOL

5-0 out of 5 stars Superjaws grips like a shark

Ideal for stripping bark on logs used for furniture, or building.

Unit folds quickly for relatively easy transport to the next job. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Well worth the cost!
This rack is well worth the price, in that it is as advertised and more. This item is well built and very simple to assemble and easy to mount. I placed my rack on 2X4 studs (4ft centers) affixed to a wood ceiling beam in my basement workshop. Using 4 ft centers provide good support for 8 ft material. I plan on placing a second unit on the opposite side of the studs. It's amazing how much material this racks holds. Material racks are not that difficult to make from scratch, however to make one as good as this, you will end up spending more for your materials then the Triton costs. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars bad bad clamp assembly
This is the worst design of a clamp assembly The one that was talked about of easy removeal of router whe!! it doe not work for the USA. You will wear out a wrench and still not have a router attached. No strage compartment or arrangment for extra plate and tool to align router. Still dont have my router attached. but has been only a couple of weeks. lost alignment tool so had to make a sub. Got it aligned and then and to remove it to insert working bit and not have to realign it. Lousy design should have paid somebody to use the original clamp assembly loosen to platic nuts and remove router. now have to remove 4 plastic nut remove part of clamp and woshers to reconnect router have to realign it. BAD BAD DESIGN

3-0 out of 5 stars Mel Dayringers
The instruction are so bad I almost sent unit back to seller. Then the clamp assembly sent was al most inpossible to attach and adjust. Have not recived the router I bouught for this bench if I have truble assembly it to the router plate may return the table toe the seller. I am going to make a modificationto the moounting plate in the slots made I intend to increase the sise of the slot at outermost so I can install the carridge bolt after assembly to the mounting plate hope this works but!before doing this must see how rounter is adjusted, mounter and centered will followup with report

5-0 out of 5 stars You don't need to shop anymore...this is it!
What a wonderful design!. Every little piece of this Router table is so well thought out. It is the most stable one and designed virtually for any routher that is available in the market! ( I have tried two routers that I have and they fit really well) I bought it a week or so ago and still have not used it but I am sure it will not have any problem.

5-0 out of 5 stars CCFrank
The first thing I noticed was the precise fit of the pieces. The Finish of the paint job would be fitting for a RollsRoyce. The attachment points that may be periodically disconnected used a unique twist knobs rather than bolts. This is what holds the completed Router assembly, the legs, and the sliding table to the table itself. These components can be easily removed without tool, thanks to the clever knobs. This steel table is very stable and even with the Hitachi Router attached, can be lifted and moved easily. This is the slick feature that would benefit remodelers. The simple sliding table can be shifted or lifted out for router access without crawling. I mounted the M12V directly to the steel sub-plate rather than using the provided attachment devices. It did require drilling two additional holes in the sub-plate. I can now lift the unit as a whole up though the table, and when reinstalled it is precisely back where it was before. Triton, I am sure, planned the table to work best with their Router. The budget was the main factor that influenced my choice and happly the combination has worked well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very well thought out router table.
I purchased this router table to use as a second table when I did have time to tear down a setup on my primary table. It soon became my most used router accessory. It is very flexible in it's use and sets up in a flash. It is light weight, but extremly stable and transmits no vibration from the router. I can honestly say that I seldom have bought any product that I thought was worth every penny I paid for it, but this one is, I have to say hats off to the guys down under for a truely well engineered product.

Another note: Everything fit perfectly when I assembled the table and the finish is top notch.

Added 01/25/03: I have now used this table for several months and It has not disappointed me. Every time I use it I wonder why someone did not make a table like this before now. I did not think I would find a use for the sliding table when I first started using it, but have found it to work well and make for smooth cuts. Also it is the first router table I have had that I am able to use from either side and sometimes have two setups at a time. I just have to move to the other side and keep going.

If it was possible I would give it 10 stars. ... Read more
