5-0 out of 5 stars Some things are just built and designed better!
I purchased this nailer from Amazon to lay 3/4" hardwood flooring in several rooms in my house. I have since fired about 5000 staples through it without any problems whatsoever. This stapler is very well designed ergonomically and mechanically. The mallet is big and somewhat massive in weight but there is a purpose in that. It takes very little effort and just a slight tap to drive a staple because it is pneumatic. So if a board lays nice and straight, then a slight tap will suffice, but if you have a somewhat uncooperative piece of flooring, then you will appreciate the heft of the mallet because it will cause the most finicky of boards to come together and lay tightly. The handle is long and fits well in your hand. Consequently your not bent over as much. My first floor laid was oak and I've started my second which is brazillian cherry. This wood is extremely heavy and dense. This stapler does not care how hard the wood is, it just works and flawlessly at that. After all isn't that what you want from a tool, flawless performance!

4-0 out of 5 stars A Do-it-yourself-er's Initial Thoughts
I purchased the MIIIFS stapler to lay approximately 1,700 sq. ft. of 3/4 inch red oak flooring in my new home. After installing well over 1,400 sq. ft. here are some of my observations:

1) The tool makes it very easy for a novice to put down a nice, tight hardwood floor. If the boards are laying tight an easy swing of the mallet is all it takes to fully seat a staple (more on this later). If the board is warped the MIIIFS can stand up to a solid mallet smack without any trouble. The mallet's plastic face, by the way, does not show any signs of cracking so far.

2) The stapler efficiently uses the its air so you do not need a big compressor. I have been using a 1.5 hp unit with a 6 gallon tank. Output is set at 85 psi. I doubt such a small compressor could supply two nailers simultaneously, but it handles one quite nicely.

3) The stapler did develop a small air leak near the top shortly after I began using it. The amount of leaking is small (based on psi drop at the compressor) but does make a distracting noise. This leak does not affect the function or reliability.

4) At your starting wall you need to face nail the flooring until you get about 6 inches from the wall. After that you'll have enough room to get the stapler into position.

5) As you approach the far wall the stapler can be used up to the last 13 or 14 inches.

6) As mentioned earlier the tool only requires an easy mallet smack. However, if you don't swing firmly enough the staple will not seat fully. This is usually caused by crowding against the far wall and not having enough room to swing the mallet.

7) The firing knob is too stiff to actuate by hand reliably - the mallet is required. It would have been nice if there was a way to trigger the stapler by hand then you could use it much closer to the far wall.

8) I have not had any problems with jamming. The unit I've been using has reliably shot every staple right down to the very last one in the magazine.

9) I have heard some rumors of staple-style flooring nailers damaging the floor's tongue. After closely examining several hundred staples in oak I'd say that about 2 or 3 percent show any signs of tongue damage. Some of this infrequent damage is due to stapling through a knot or due to handling. Some is due to the MIIIFS. I'm not sure how this compares to nail-style nailers. Anytime you send a fastener through kiln dried hardwood you're bound to have some occassional splitting.

Would I buy the MIIIFS again? You bet I would. Despite its few minor shortcomings this tool has saved me a LOT of work and the price is lower than other pnuematic nailers that I've looked at.

4-0 out of 5 stars Bostitch flooring stapler
The cadillac of flooring staplers! Anyone can put down hardwood flooring like a pro with this one. Would have liked to had a case included, instead of the cardboard box it came in. I guess that doesn't affect the performace, although protecting the stapler could prevent problems down the road.

5-0 out of 5 stars Need it, Get it!
I did 750 sqft of oak. not one problem, great tool, did not have the misfire problem on last stables. no break downs, perfect every time. Loaned out to friend, expect the same results. will be selling it used shortly. (I don't need it anymore), and will recoup a bit of my costs. Bob

4-0 out of 5 stars Bostitch M111FS 3\4" flooring nailer
I've been installing hardwood floors for 22 years or so and I'am in need of another nailer. These are a little heavy but can really fly on the big open rooms. The problem is their to expensive. The reconditioned ones are perfect. I started my company 20 some years ago and used power nailers wich are fine and recently went to air powered nailers about 10 years ago. I see no savings on line what so ever except the reconditioned ones that can be repaired on the job site with a $20.00 kit. My Regards Rem. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Throw away the glue, buy this tool
This tool enabled me to take on more than I would have had I continued to use glue like they told me to do at Home Depot. The first room I worked on I used glue and decided I had to find a better way, this was it.

The flooring went down easier, the finished product was much better, and the frustration level went down.

The hardest part was learning how to load the staples. After that it was a snap

5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Choice
You can not go wrong with this stapler! It is easy to setup and performs flawlessly. I have done several-hundred square feet of 3/8" engineered hardwood flooring without a hitch. I highly recommend this tool!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Perfect Choice
The S3297-LHF flooring stapler did the job! Beats gluing. I have layed over 500 square feet of the 3/8" engineered flooring without any negative issues with this stapler. Looks like I will be laying flooring in more rooms in the future, according to my wife. This was the first flooring that I have put down and it turn out to be a professional job, thanks to the S3297-LHF Bostitch Stapler. This is the tool to buy if you want your floor layed correctly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Needs a case.
I bought this stapler after using a Porta-nailer to install 1000 sq. ft. of hardwood laminant flooring. The Porta-nailer was bulky, hard to use and couldn't do the last 3 rows since you have to hit it with a hammer to drive the nail. With the S3297-LHF-2 I could do upto the last row which of course had to be face nailed. I would recommend this to anyone who has to lay laminant flooring. The only thing that disappointed me was that it doesn't come with a case for storage and the keeping it in the cardboard box beats up the box.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy and Great
I purchased this to install 3/8 engineered flooring and it is very easy to use. Loading is simple and fast and the instructions are brief and clear. I have installed 150 sq ft out of 500 sq ft total and the only problem I have encountered is running out of staples and not realizing it until I am a few boards down. Don't know how to solve that. ... Read more

This professional-grade construction stapler is built to handle all but the toughest 16-gauge applications. The industry ranks this model's power-to-weight ratio as best in its class. We found it to be fast and powerful, capable of driving up to 16 1- to 2-inch staples a second. In fact, this model can handle eight different staple sizes. It has a top-loading, easy-release feed system with reload indicator, and jambs are easily cleared. Other worthwhile features include a mechanical countersink, narrow nose, and adjustable exhaust. Senco designed this stapler to be reliable, using 30% less parts than the competition. Among its many applications are sheathing, furniture frames, wood shingles, and decking. --Tom Kasperson ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Does it all
Just bought a Senco SNS65 to do the siding, sheathing, soffit, facia, etc. on the house I am remodeling. It works great, plenty of power for both 1" and 2" staples. I'm using 1" rough cut siding on the log house and it drives through and flush every time. I'm glad I bought it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent stapler
I just laid down a 1/4" subfloor on top of old vinyl flooring in a kitchen and two baths. I shot about 3500 1.25" staples and only had one situation with a double staple fire. (Probably my fault.) I was shooting in the sequential mode. Since this was my first time using it my accuracy of placement was a little off in the biging but improved as I learned hot to handle it. The stapler paid for itself on this one job as all the flooring contractors wanted about $320.00 to lay down 8 sheets of luan. My cost was about $72 for the luan and $99.00 for the stapler. I am sure I will find many other uses.

3-0 out of 5 stars An OK stapler
My coworkers and I have used this stapler for a variety of professional remodeling and construction tasks. So far, it's been very handy in situations when larger nails or staples wouldn't be appropriate and when finish nails won't hold well enough. It's amazing how often we find uses for the stapler, and its small size allows it to squeeze into tight situations.

On the downside, we've found that it often misfires (no staple comes out) or fires two staples at the same time. We're usually firing 1.5 inch Porter Cable staples. As staplers go, it's a relatively cheap choice that's probably better suited for occasional rather than daily professional use.

I recently bought an Hitachi N3804AB narrow crown stapler that's a bit smaller than the Porter Cable NS150A, but also more solid and powerful. So far, my coworkers and I prefer the Hitachi over the Porter Cable because it's much more reliable (the only time it ever jammed was when I fired it directly into a steel joist hanger as a test; it has never misfired or fired more than one staple either), it will fit into smaller places because it's about an inch shorter than the Porter Cable, and can sink 1.5 inch staples fully into hardwoods and knots. It also fires smoothly and doesn't recoil. The Hitachi is made in Germany, and I've been impressed by it's durable all-metal solid feel, simple construction, and ample power.

I haven't used a Senco, but I've heard they're good as well. Before I bought the Hitachi, I was going to get a Senco SKS, but now I don't think I'll need it. The Hitachi seems to have enough power for every situation, plus it's smaller. It's a bit difficult to find a store that carries the Hitachi 3804AB, but if you look around you might be able to find a used one at an equal or lower price than the Porter Cable NS150A.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wish I bought one of these 20 years ago
I bought this Porter cable crown stapler because of the great reviews it got from the rest of you. Except the guy who claims he shot a staple into his bookeepers neck. I don't see how that can happen since the head of the gun has to be pushed up to your work before you can pul the trigger and fire a staple.
I used the gun to make a few frames and fix the edging on an old table. What a great tool. I wish I had bought one 20 years ago, I can think of thousands of times I could have put it to good use. The exhaust deflector can be turn away from your face into any other direction. The oil is no problem. I read the notes of the more experienced reviewers and noted that adding too much oil will make a mess, and just the right couple of drops will not produce any splatter. Keep lots of different size of staples on hand and you will find many uses for this gun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great tool and a great price too!
Hello,

I purchased this stapler after reading several reviews in numerous tool publications. I've used this tool day-in and day- out, driving staples into numerous types of woods. I've only had 1 hung staple in the 1000's I've driven. It's a great stapler, one that I'm VERY PLEASED with!!! When you purchase this stapler, the manufacturer will send you the FREE safety trigger, that will only allow the stapler to fire 1 staple per trigger squeeze.

Porter Cable really did their homework with this tool, it's lightweight, reliable, easy to use and best of all comes with that great Porte Cable warranty. So, whether you're looking for a stapler for around the home, or for a workhouse of a tool, I believe this tool is for you!!

Ciao!!

So small, so light, but so powerful-—what a delight to use. It's just perfect for the professional upholsterer and the home do-it-yourselfer, too. Because it's so compact, it fits nicely into tight spaces, and its super light weight means no fatigue, even in the awkward positions upholsters can find themselves. We didn't experience any misfires or jams, but if they happen, just release the magazine and the driver blade guide retracts. We like the convenience of the end-load magazine, and because the staples are so thin, you get an impressive 185 loaded in the magazine, which of course means fewer stops to reload. And just like Porter-Cable's more ambitious nailers, this one's got a directional port to keep the exhaust off you and your workpiece. While it's in name an upholstery stapler, we think you'll find a lot more uses for this little worker.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great stapler, but a word of caution
Light and effective. It does its job as well as I could have hoped. Not a single jam that was not obviously my fault. I have spent several times the cost of this tool looking for a stapler that would do what this one does as well as it does. Why the enthusiasm? Well, most staplers not meant for construction site abuse are not very good. This one is.

A word of caution. This is not, nor was it ever intended to be, a construction stapler. The staples it is designed to use are not big enough nor thick enough to be of much use for construction site purposes. This is a professional grade upholstery stapler.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for insulation
I bought this stapler with the intention of using it to hang faced insulation. I wasn't sure if it would do the job or not but I figured I'd give it a shot. I was not disappointed. It has worked flawlessly through several thousand staples. As others have mentioned, the staples are not very thick, even smaller than standard T-50 staples, but for something like insulation where it's going to be covered up anyways, the staples work just fine. Plus, because they are thinner, it means more staples per strip and thus fewer reloads. The extended nose made it easy to get into tight corners that other staplers wouldn't have been able to. A bump-fire trigger would have made it even better, but I guess since it is technically an upholstery stapler that probably wouldn't make much sense. The only downfall I can see is that I couldn't find staples for it at any local hardware store, had to order them from here. With free shipping, though, that wasn't a big deal.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice, but...
I bought this stapler new, and I must saw the thing is beautiful to use. I use it for framing so the thing gets a lot of use every day. The only issue I have with it is the magazine for the staples is made of plastic. I did not think it was a big deal until one of my employees let it slide off the roof we were sheating. The magazine broke cleanly in two. The rest of the stapler is very well built, but I think that the magazine should be made of some sort of metal, say magnesium or aluminum. This would make a good stapler, the best stapler in my opinion. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Senco's SKS-L trim stapler is an excellent tool for a number of woodworking applications. In addition to cabinet, furniture, and molding assembly, it is also used on doors, window casings, trim, crating, agricultural boxes, fencing, and wood crafts. This medium-wire trim stapler is capable of driving 1/4-inch crown staples in lengths ranging from 7/8 to 1-1/2 inches. We found this model to be lightweight (only 4.2 pounds) and versatile, capable also of attaching aluminum and vinyl siding, underlayment, roofing sheathing, and decking materials. It holds 158 staples and comes with a restrictive trigger; however, Senco will provide a dual-action (bump-firing) trigger that allows for a firing rate of up to five staples per second. Senco is a pioneer of the oil-free industry--this stapler never needs lubrication, ensuring virtually trouble-free operation and low maintenance. 3-0 out of 5 stars Powerful Stapler but lacking in features
For some tasks, a staple provides a stronger attachment than a small headed nail. A nail depends upon friction between the nail and the wood for its holding power. Sometimes the material being attached just does not provide a good friction grip, although the underlying material does. In these cases, a staple works better because the crown traps some of the upper material between the two legs. The upper material can't come loose unless the staple pulls out or the material breaks. That's why I went in search of a stapler

Before I purchased this stapler, I tried the Senco SLS20 stapler. The SLS20 was just not powerful enough - it would not drive one inch staples into maple through a drawer bottom. This stapler solves that problem. It's powerful enough to handle any wood I choose. I also like the oilless feature, not only because there's no oil to mar the work I'm doing, but also because I always forget to oil nailers that require oil. Although I haven't owned this stapler long enough to comment, other users have commented that the SKS is rugged and reliable over time.

While the SKS is a powerful stapler, there are a number of shortcomings to it.

1. The unit is big and heavy which makes it hard to maneuver.
2. There's no depth adjustment on the gun (the documentation erroneously says there is). To change the depth adjustment you have to buy a different driver and install it, or grind the existing one. You won't change the drive depth very often with this unit.
3. The gun does not detect when it's out of staples but keeps firing (blanks). The operator has to notice that nothing is being driven and re-load the stapler. The driver marks the surface even though no staple is driven so it's not easy to notice that nothing is being driven.
4. The air exhaust is not adjustable so you get blasted in the face under certain conditions.
5. The documentation is miserable - worse manual I've ever seen.
6. The gun is extremely expensive when compared to other narrow crown staplers.

All-in-all, it appears to me that the SKS is an old design that Senco keeps around, perhaps because there's not enough competition in this segment of the market to cause them to bring out a more modern design. I would recommend shopping around before you buy the SKS. There must be better staplers out there but I don't have enough experience yet to recommend one to you.

Update May 4, 2004: After using the SKS-L stapler for a few months, an additional problem appeared. The spring on the magazine is fairly weak. When the magazine gets low, the spring is not strong enough to push the staples into firing position and the gun fires a blank. The problem is intermittent - the gun may miss two or three staples and then begin firing again for a few staples. Because of the marking of the wood by the driver, you can't tell if a staple has been driven except by attempting to lift the wood to see if it is attached. The problem does not happen when the magazine is full.

Senco support has been fairly responsive to my problem and is sending me replacement parts.

This, by far is the best staple gun on the market(you will get what you pay for).. Its magazine has the capacity to hold 168 18-gauge, 3/8- to 1-1/2-inch staples. We appreciate the adjustable depth-of-drive control that allows for precise countersinking, an especially important feature for furniture assembly. This stapler is also excellent for working on molding, trim, underlayment, soffits, and crafts. Safety is a chief concern with pneumatic staplers, and Senco pneumatic products include impressive safety features. A no-mar safety and restrictive trigger reduce the chances of accidental firings. The bottom-load magazine has a smart design, including a molded lever that keeps the magazine from accidentally opening. There's also a clear sight hole so you can check on the staple supply. Of course, only a well-maintained tool is a safe tool, and Senco designed the PowerPlus SLS20 with this in mind: this stapler never needs lubrication and has only one moving seal, resulting in virtually trouble-free operation. --Tom Kasperson ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Bit of a disappointment
I own a Senco FP25XP brad nailer and have been extremely satisfied with it - so when I decided to purchase a narrow crown stapler, I chose Senco again. My two options were the SLS20 (this one) or the SKS-L. The SLS20 was less expensive and reviewers here gave it good ratings so I ordered the SLS20.

When I received it, however, I was a bit disappointed. The cushion grip is not moulded like on the FP25, but is a piece of foam rubber wrapped around the handle and glued. And because of the way it's wrapped, it's unconfortable in your hand. Probably won't take very long before it begins to come unglued and looks all ratty.

The second disappointment was that the unit will not drive one inch staples into maple - it leaves the head proud by about 1/16. I checked the pressure on my compressor and it's in spec. The unit will drive 3/4 inch staples into maple.

The third disappointment was that the unit did not come with a case, even though Amazon advertises it as shipping with a case.

The fourth disappointment was when I found the SLS20 at a much lower price at a major home improvement store.

Overall, I'd recommend buying the SKS-L, or if you can tolerate the reduced power, go with a lower priced Senco stapler.

I returned the SLS20 and ordered the SKS-L. While the SKS-L has its own problems, it does have the power that the SLS20 is lacking.

The picture you have in the ad is of the senco brad nailer...Please fix it so as not to confuse the customers...

5-0 out of 5 stars Smooth
I've used this stapler quite extensively around the house and it has performed flawlessly. No jams, very smooth operation. Nothing more to say, this is the cream of the crop as far as narrow crown staplers go. It's worth the extra money.

5-0 out of 5 stars I wish everything was this good
The SLS 20 is much like the SLP 20 brad nailer. Pretty powerful for its size and very smooth in operation. It doesn't have as much power as the larger SKS staple gun which uses the same staples but weighs a lot more. In its favor the SKS will consistently sink 1 1/2" staples into hardwood all day long. The SLS fits into smaller spaces though so It's somewhat a trade off . Nevertheless Other mini 1/4 inch crown staplers don't compare. They don't have the same power and they don't fire with the same super smooth action. They also seem to recoil more which is a bother. If you've ever shot 18 GA. staples you know it doesn't take much to turn them into a pretzel. Any nail or screw behind your work surface will make quick work of these little fasteners. This gun is very easy to deal with in this situation. Just flip the EZ clear lever and you're back in business. Top it off with an adjustable depth of drive and oilless operatin and you have the best small 1/4" crown stapler in the industry. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars So far so good
My old narrow crown went down the other day so I bought this at a home improvement warehouse. I usually check to see which is made in the USA first, then durability, then price. This was the only gun in it's price range made in the USA. I use it in case openings, drawerstock and drawer bottoms, built-in backs, or anything thin. (...) Depth of drive adjustment is good, rear exhaust is great,I have always hated the "blow in your face," weight is good, also no oil is a blessing ... no mar. It is so light it feels like plastic, but it is magnesium. I liked the automatic feature..as long as the safety is down, it will fire till you run out of stock. I wish it wouldn't fire without staples though..If I could I would deduct a half star for that. It had the power to consistantly sink 1" staples, but don't know about 1 1/2". It took more than a thousand staples without a hitch building columns...no pretzels. so far so good

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time
I just bought this gun from a local store. It did fine for 10 staples. After that, it only fired when it wanted to. I'll be returning it tommorow. I just ordered the Senco SLS 18. My father has owned a Senco stapler for over ten years with no problems. He told me to go Senco but I didn't listen. Goes to show, father knows best.

5-0 out of 5 stars Welcome Addition
This stapler was an istant hit in my High School cabinet shop. I teach cabinet making in a public high school, two years ago I purchased a small pnuematic set up (two finish nailers and a small two tank compressor). With a limited budget, I had to put off getting a stapler. I knew I needed one that was easy to change staples and sizes, included a case and could withstand the type of punishment and abuse only a high school student can dish out. It also had to take the standard narrow crown type staples. I recently purchased this one for my self and brought it in to school just to see how my students would take to it. It was instantly the tool of choice when attaching the 1/4" cabinet back or draw bottoms. If I happen to bring it home, the next day some student will ask for it. I was recently told to spend about $$$, a gift from the theater dept. for building some sets. I immediatly showed them the specs on this one, I'm expecting it soon then I'll finally get to take mine home.

5-0 out of 5 stars light, well finish and Oil free
I've bought it a few days ago, so far very good felling about it. It feels very light, no wind blast in the face, wherever and however you use it...the rear exhaust is push to the oposite way, a very good thing...then no needs to rotate an exhaust like my PC brad nailer :-)

Only complain, since it is an industrial model, there is no reset when fire...so you need to be very carefull to hold it secur againt the surface to avoid risk of a double fire....but some folks might like this feature...

4-0 out of 5 stars Leaky Tool, but they fixed it
I've just purchase my second SX150K from my local Home improvement store only to find it is leaking air from the trigger assembly, right out of the box. I had to return the first one because it was doing the same thing. Also out of the 30 or so staples I shot, 8 were double fires. I just got off the phone with Bostitch customer support and they wanted me to narrow it down to 1 of 3 seals it could have been. No thanks. As soon as I'm done writing this review I'm returning this one also...Update.
I just retured from a Bostitch SWAT event, they were unable to repair my leaking tool so they sent me home with a brand new one. That is great customer service.
I own 4 other Bostitch air tools with no problems at all. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars What a joke!
After having all of my air tools stolen, I bought this stapler because it was the cheapest. It came with the head bolts too loose so it leaked air. I tightened them, no big deal. The worst part was the advertized easy un-jamb nose piece. The engineers in their great wisdom put the magazine higher than the Hinged nose piece. It takes a narrow screwdriver, a needle nose plier and a lot of cussing to remove a stuck staple. The spring is too weak to keep the proper pressure on the staples, only large amounts of WD40 sprayed on the magazine kept the gun operating smoothly, and paint doesn't stick on oil. I give this gun 1 star because of it's lousy anti-jambing design.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fast but not consistant
I needed to install a sub-floor. I went as fast as could and the stapler did a great job with no jams. It is easy to run out of staples and not know it. It needs something besides just looking thru a little hole at the staples. Uses little air, my pancake compressor kept up. I did have a hard time setting the depth of the staples. The depth varies a LOT with out touching the dial and I had to go back and pound down about 15% of the staples.

5-0 out of 5 stars Porter Cable has a winner
I bought this stapler from Amazon to put up sheathing and it has performed flawlessly. Have used it for several other jobs as well where a framing nailer would split the wood but needed more holding power than a finish nailer, such as attaching lattice work. Haven't used the optional vinyl siding attachment yet, but will be in the next couple of weeks. The stapler does have a depth of drive adjustment, but comes from the factory with a setting to drive the staples as deep as possible, so don't use on a finish job out of the box. Haven't had a jam yet, but the front clearing mechanism is simple to use. Have used on sheathing and lap siding jobs and was very impressed by the difference in holding power of the stapler versus a nail. It will definitely stay in the top of my job box for easy access.

4-0 out of 5 stars It Does the Job
I have used this stapler on a couple of jobs now and I can't complain to much about it. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it did not come with a no-mar nose piece as advertised. I am writing Porter-Cable about this. I am sure they will resolve it. One word of caution: most Home Depot/Lowes stores do not carry 16 gauge staples. Make sure you have an alternate supplier available locally (a real tool store) otherwise order the staples here.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ever try to hold something and hammer it?
I bought this stapler because my long-suffering wife refused to act like a clamp anymore, so I had to hold up sheets of sheathing or paneling with an elbow and a knee while trying to drive nails. It got old really fast! This PC stapler is a marriage saver! The owner's manual is well written, and I was using the stapler five minutes out of the box. I easily quadrupled my output, and was able to sheath and side my shop (16x16') solo in a single day. Haven't had a jam yet, though they look fairly simple to clear. Definitely worth the money! ... It's light, it's ruggedly built, it's comfortable, and it fires faster than lightning, with a speed rating of 20 fasteners per second. Pop your air hose on it and be impressed. It's an incredibly light 4.5 pounds, but it works as hard as you do. We like the extra details that mean a long tool life and the ability to survive the jobsite, like a rugged yet lightweight magazine, a carbide nose insert, quality aluminum housing and a long-wearing textured grip. And we like that all its adjustments are tool-free: jam clearing, exhaust direction and the repeatable, lockable indexed depth adjustment, placed at the trigger rather than the nose. Best of all, it draws just .039 standard cubic feet per minute, and that means a lot less time lost on the job waiting for the compressor. The magazine loads 160 staples, a reload is fast and easy. It's probably one of the most comfortable guns we've come across, too. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Porter Cable 18 1inch crown stapler
I just bought this tool locally about 2 months ago and I have to say no problems to speek of. I am used to my Senco brad nailer being so quiet and smooth compared to this little thing sending out a big crack when you pull the trigger, I guess I'll get used to it. All in all the gun feels good in my hand and all the controls are well placed. You can't go wrong for the price. Wish I could give it 4 and half stars.

3-0 out of 5 stars Know its limitations
I recently used this tool to staple a screen mesh under the eaves of my house. When shooting staples downward, it worked fine. However, it did have significant problems when used to shoot staples upward as the staples tended to fall down in the holder and they would not always advance or they would often cause the stapler to jam.

One jam ultimately completely froze up the tool and I had to return it. Also, the design of the staple holder could be better. It was very difficult to close at times and often became stuck open requiring disassembly of this portion of the tool.

I attribute most of these problems to shooting staples upward however.

If you will use the stapler often, I would go for the higher quality/cost model.

4-0 out of 5 stars My first air powered tool
I have to say that this PC air gun is fantastic. Easy to set up, a dream to use, what more can one ask for. Accurate placement of the fastener you are setting and surprisingly quiet operation make this tool ideal for indoor use. I would give it five stars, but since it is my first experience with air powered tools, I will back off my initial enthusiasm somewhat. A great tool. ... Read more
