They Have a Point -- Literally!
I did quite a bit of research looking for a clamping system for picture frames. Time and again I came back to Ulmia and decided to give them a try. They look good but simply do not work on the woods I tested them on: maple, oak, pine, purple heart and cherry. The springs have nail-sharp points on them that, when clamped with the lightest pressure I could and still hold the mitre, punched varying holes and gouges in the wood. I even tried one on the nice wooden box they were shipped in and it dug into the side. (Did the return department notice that?)

I'm not sure what application one would use where gouging the wood is an acceptable part of clamping. For me, the Ulmia design is "Duh!" What do you get when you press sharp, hardened steel into wood? I should have figured that one out before wasting the time buying and returning it.

A MUST
Since I purchased a set of Miter Clamps I have never looked back. They are an absolute must for any body doing base board, crown moulding shoe moulding etc. They are perfect for finished work, just glue and clamp no nails necessary. I have recommended Miter Clamps to anybody I know in the same scope of work as me. From my recommendations to the rest of the people in my company several have purchased the clamps and have found them a hugh success. The more you use it, the more you use it.
This is a nice strap clamp kit. The key is the adjusting system. At first I thought, why not just use a strapping tie down assembly available at the local home center, at a third of the price. After all, it is a nylon web strap and it has a tightening and releasing system. The problem is that it gives you tighteness in a racheting fashion. So you are either at one click or the next one. No fine adjustment. Additionally, without the corner braces that comes with the Vario kit, you would be catching the corners, and creating a less than equal pressure.
All told this Bessey kit is a very nice unit, and does a good job. For the money it would be hard to beat. Highly recommended.

Terrific Clamp
This clamp has come to my rescue several times when building boxes, bookshelves, or anything where I need even pressure all around an object. The mechanism for tightening the clamp tightens very well -- first you turn a gear to get the straps snug, then you turn a thumbscrew to firm it up all the way. The corner braces are great when you are tightening a box and you want to make sure the corners don't get damaged. Yes, even though it is a vinyl strap, the clamp can still make indentations in the wood if you tighten it enough.

I gave the clamp 4 stars instead of 5 only because the gear mechanism is a little awkward to use. I emphasize that it is a minor problem. Sometimes, when you are trying to turn the gear, the clamp feels a little off-balance. But once it's tight, and you turn the thumbscrew, it's fine. With better positioning of the gear, these clamps would get 5 stars, no doubt.

4 Corner clips are not enough
I recently purchased two of these clamps to try out. I purchased two of them because I needed more than the 4 corner clips that come with it. A bomb-proof beauty!
This clamp is great for corner clamping! It is strong and is obviously built to survive a lot of punishment. Great for clamping heavy-duty stock together. The only limitations that I found with it are:
* Limited capacity when dealing with T-joints.
* It is quite heavy (is that really a limitation?)

Good, but less convenient than two-step models
The Bessey angle clamp requires that you align all edges and provide pressure -- all simultaneously -- while you tighten the one clamping handle. It is less convenient than corner clamps with two separate clamping handles to tighten separately. Their large surface area provides solid alignment, even if it also makes these clamps more appropriate for larger tasks (e.g., over one foot per side).

Solid clamp but a little bulky
Great clamp for larger glue-up projects like frames and cabinets. It will hold two identical pieces about 4 inches wide. Strong feature of this tool is that it can also handle two pieces of different widths but you then trade off the size of one side to accomodate the other. My only complaint is that you can't work with pieces much smaller than a foot in length if you want to clamp several corners at once. The clamps interfere with each other. Also, it comes with a plastic piece attached to the screw/guide bar that allows you to hang the clamp on a peg board hook. Careful with it, though, because it's easily broken. Otherwise, a good solid clamp, best if you use four at one time on larger pieces.

Great for mending frames
This clamp is nice to use. I found it to be a little akward getting the boards aligned, but once in place the 90 degree angle is fixed and that was very helpful. I've used standard bar clamps, wooden clamps and strap clamps to mend various frames and i found this to be the best so far at clamping a true 90 degree angle. ... Read more

Best band clamp ever
If you have ever struggled with clamping frames or boxes together, you will love this clamp. The adjustable angle corner brackets are easy to place in the desired location and when pressure is applied, it is applied evenly on all the brackets. Speaking of pressure, this clamp can apply alot of it, I mean tight, without slipping at all. The wheel next to handle is ideal because it stores any extra band not in use. The band is made of what appears to be polyester, but it definately has my confidence that it will not tear or break. Of all my clamps in the shop, this is one of my favorites. Well made, a true Bessey Clamp
Like the other Bessey clamps in my collection this is well made. Acts like a large jaw vice-grip. Instead of taking the few seconds (minutes) to screw down a clamp this is very quick. Just a squeeze and it's done. Another of of these items that makes you ask why they didn't think of this before.

Excellent miter clamp
This is one of the best clamps Ive ever used. The picture you see doesn't adequately describe what the clamp is designed to do. This clamp is designed to join two pieces of wood together, typically at a 90 degree angle. The power of the clamp is that it holds both pieces in place firmly and also squeezes that joint together rather than merely holding them together as typical angle clamps do. Again, this picture you see is an unfortunate marketing flaw, as it misrepresents the true value of this superb clamp. Catalog picture and text incorrect
I ordered this clamp based on the photograph in the catalog and the text that states it is a "face frame clamp". Later I found that the clamps pictured are actually two different clamps made by Woodstock. One for face frame and one for clamping thin stock at right angles. Unfortunately Tool Crib only has the one for thin stock.

Great shop helper, BUT
This clamp and the face frame clamps are the idea tool for clamping. They are light easy to work with and you can work on one joint at a time without fighting a bar or pipe clamp. The problems come with the design. I have snaped two right at the throat of the threaded end. That was tighting only hand tight. Iam not a hulk of a man so be careful in tighting.
