4-0 out of 5 stars Nice and simple
The rack and the 30 clamps arived without a scratch.Assembly is easy.

However, I would make one modification.Instead of installing the cross supports in an X configuration (across the bottom) as suggested in the instructions, cut them down and use them on the outside, between the two frame halves (like a ladder crosspiece). You will need four extra bolts. The advantage, though, is that you could release one side of each brace and fold the unit up to store it against a wall. Some adjustments to the placement of the clamp hanging rods may be necessary to allow the fold, but that flexibility is already built in with the use of hairpin clips to secure the rods.

Can't wait to take it to the shop and hang up all my other clamps (plenty of room to spare). ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing clamps!
As of writing, I have only had my Quik-Grip clamps a single day, but I already absolutely love them! They are easily set up with only one hand, which is really convenient when clamping down a homemade fence for a router table, or anthing else that reguires the other hand to hold your workpiece down.
This package of clamps is a very good deal too. Ratcheting hand clamps are usually very expensive (the price of the two largest clamps from a home center is about the same as this entire package!). The description says you get 2 2" smaller clamps as well. I got 4! I don't know if this an error, but I'm not complaining!
Ratchet clamps, although expensive, are totally amazing. They are especially handy for sanding and routing, where vibration can undo screws. This package is a great deal and I haven't ruled out buying another set. These things are total time savers.
(And, if you ever get really bored, you can race them! We actually used to do that in my shop class!)

5-0 out of 5 stars Addictive!
Once you start using these Quick-Grip clamps you will think that all other clamps are obsolete. They supply all the power you can possibly need and are so much quicker on and off that repositioning them is a snap. They take a lot of the "stress" out of having to race to get your glue-up clamped. As soon as I finished using them the 1st time I ordered more. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

The best ideas are often the simplest, which explains why Jorgenson is well known among woodworkers as the maker of some of the best clamps available, and their 3/4-inch steel bar clamp is no exception. No shop can have too many of these. They offer a basic, reliable design--featuring a crank handle, no holes, no rivets, and no notches--that leaves little room for improvement. These clamps are great for a huge variety of jobs, can be used on any length of pipe your task requires, and can be relied on to keep their grip without loosening up or slipping. Removing the clamps when the job is done is quick and easy every time. Sure, some may say that a clamp is a clamp, and to some extent that's true. But with so many brands on the market, there's a reason it's so hard to find a shop that's not full of Jorgenson clamps. If you're looking for reliable clamps at a price that allows you to buy as many as you need, Jorgensen clamps are tough to beat. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Woodshop Standard
These versatile clamps are simple, strong, and a cost effective clamping solution. I recomend using black iron pipe as it is softer than galvanized and therefore the clamp grabs it better. Most stores that sell black pipe will cut and thread it for free. Have them thread both ends and use a cap from a pop bottle to cover the unused end. You can the use cheap pipe unions to join the two pipes to make a longer clamp.

Why buy Pony Brand? They are superior to their asian knockoffs in EVERY WAY. Pony pipe clamps are always concentric (nearly every asian made clamp I've owned are eccentric and do not operate smoothly and require serious grinding to make them usable).

The pony's screw is larger in diameter and the threads are beefier. I have bent some asian clamps thread post but never a Pony's.

When you are gluing up a panel and trying to beat titbond's tack time and suddenly your Chinese clamp binds up on you you will say to yourself NEXT TIME ITs GOING TO BE PONY!

This is one of the last of the quality "MADE IN THE USA" tools that hopefully will never change.

Oh - one more thing - I've seen these ebay used for what Amazon is selling new ones for!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good product, but get some clamp pads, too
I built a shed recently, making the door from tongue-and-groove decking boards. Before I could attach the 2x4 braces I needed to clamp the tongue-and-groove planks together. To fit big tools in the shed this door is 3-1/2' wide, so I needed a couple of big clamps. Two of these Jorgensen fixtures, plus a pair of 5' black pipes, did the trick quite nicely.

A few useful tidbits:

- The threaded black pipe recommended for use with these clamps comes with black grease to lubricate and deter corrosion. Clean this off before attaching the clamps so you won't mess up your wood.

- I strongly recommend getting a set of rubber clamp pads when you order your clamp fixtures. You only need one set for two fixtures. Don't gouge up your wood.

- The screw clamp fits into the orange sliding flat surface with a steel pin. One of mine came out, and I had to go get a hammer to re-assemble the clamp. I deducted one star for this, but it was just annoying rather than a fatal flaw.

- Black pipe typically comes in sizes from 1' to 5'. Shop for the pipe before buying the clamp fixtures if you need more than 5'. The fixtures take up a good half foot themselves, so 4' pipe wouldn't have worked with my 3-1/2' door.

Bottom line: an essential tool if you're trying to build something big. Recommended.

4-0 out of 5 stars 2nd best
Very good, sturdy clamps. I only rated them 4 stars because Rocklers surefoot is a much better design with equal the quality. Use galvanized pipe, same price & it won't rust or stain your work. Also for some homebrewed clamp pads take some scrap 3/4" fir plywood, it's relatively soft & doesn't split, cut it into roughly 2" x 3 1/2" pieces. Then drill a 1 1/8" hole towards one end & paint it with polyuerathane. Slip it over the pipe & screw it to the clamp faces from behind with #6 x 3/4" sheet metal screws. You'll wind up with decent clamp pads that won't stick to glue or come off of the clamp.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Tool that Time Forgot
I've used these hoary things in my shop for decades, and they always do what they're designed to. They're cheap, versatile, nearly indestructible, and still made in the good ol' USA. However, I wonder what Amazon's writers were thinking when they described these as having a "hardened steel thrust bearing".

5-0 out of 5 stars A Shop Basic
If you work with wood, you need a few sets of these. They're strong to the point of being unbreakable, they won't flex under any reasonable clamping load, and they stay upright and won't roll around.

One tip: Get some 3/4" foam pipe insulation and keep it with the clamps. You can cut pieces of foam to varuious lengths, and wrap them around the pipe. That'll keep your wood from getting dented or oily from contact with the pipe. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Big bad clamps!!
I love these clamps. The steel construction is very sturdy, and heavy! When used with the Mastadon pads, they are just perfect to clamp together bookcases, cabinets and other wood projects. I especially like the large crank handles, which provides excellent feedback to the hand on the amount of pressure being applied to the work pieces. If you need to apply a lot of clamping pressure on your project, you can't beat this heavy-duty clamps!

5-0 out of 5 stars Jorgensen I-Bar Clamps
The I-Bar Clamps from Jorgensen are a step up from the traditional 'pipe clamp' that are very common. My first purchase of the 7200 series clamps was for a large kitchen that I was going to build. I noticed immediately that the I-Bar clamps were very heavy, twice as much as my usual pipe clamps. The heads and armature that tightens the body down on the material needing to be clamped were 30% larger and the I-Bar did not flex under pressure. I used fewer clamps and this allowed for more doors/panels to be glued up based upon the traditional pipe clamps that I had been using. I found the clamps to be very rugged, durable, easy to use, large enough to handle any situation outside the shop, and affordable. These clamps will be replacing any others that I have in my shop. ... Read more

Move your orange clamps over and make room for Irwin. There are so many improvements on this fixture that we're just plain impressed. At the top of the list is the longer handle design that actually prevents the skinned knuckles woodworkers have come to expect. A close second is that these clamps don't need threaded pipes, an idea we applaud. The feet are bigger, and there are no downsides to that-—you get more clearance and more stability. The "double-thread design" means it takes less pressure to close on your workpiece, which means less fatigue for the user. We found the mechanism smooth and easy to operate, and if orange just isn't your color, this may be the perfect fixture for you.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

Features

  • Innovative clutch system eliminates the need for threaded pipe
  • Larger feet offer more stability and clearance between handle and worktop
  • Larger, more ergonomic handle offers easier clamping with reduced hand fatigue
  • Larger clutch plates allow for easier release and increased durability and dependability

5-0 out of 5 stars Great product - ignore the bad reviews
The few negative reviews here about the clutches being installed backwards almost kept me from buying these, but I decided to give them a try anyway since intuitively it seemed that the clutches and spring must be user serviceable. They arrived a day ago and I just got some black iron pipe for them to check fit and operation, and I must say I am very impressed with these clamps. The fit is tight and precise, the screw turns easily without binding, and the sliding jaw moves easily along the pipe. Cosmetically they are much nicer than any other I have seen in stores. The clutches on mine were all installed properly -- however, had they been installed in any other manner I could have simply compressed the spring by hand, removed the clutch plates and reinstalled them in the correct orientation! No problems there (I tried it and verified that if installed upside-down they will cause the problem mentioned in previous reviews, but as I said this is easily fixed). I bought these because of the extended height of the feet, which do allow knuckle clearance when operating the hand screw. The feet seem to be wider also, making these more stable. One thing I did notice is that the entire screw length can not be used due to the handle butting up against the end of the clamp when tightened all the way (maybe an inch of unused threads) but this is trivial -- there is plenty of thread length to do the job. I bought four sets of these for some furniture building projects I am working on, and will buy more in the future! The only things this clamp does not have vs. the Rockler ones is the lip on the threaded foot for hanging on a rack, and pre-drilled holes for mounting extention blocks. I plan to take a 2x4 and cut some notches in it so I can simply slide the pipe into the notch with the threaded jaw resting on the top for easy hanging, and if I ever need to mount anything to the jaws I can drill the holes easily enough. I do like the fact that the pipe does not have to be threaded, although the pipe I bought has threads cut and it works great. If you're looking for a high-quality pipe clamp buy these!

2-0 out of 5 stars Quality Control
I was really happy to see the new improved clamp design available from Irwin at a reasonable price. When I put the first one I had ordered together I could not figure where I had gone wrong, as the clamp did not sit flat on the bench top. I checked the product reviews online to find that the improper installation of the clutch plates is a pervasive issue. Very disappointing. Until I see that Irwin has addressed the issue I will look for alternative versions at Rockler.com as another user suggested, and continue using the Pony Clamps that are proven performers.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Happy Woodworker
What a product. I was a little skeptical at first but figured I'd give it a try. This thing works unbelievably well. The feet are a little longer on this pipe clamp which helps in cutting up your fingers when trying to crank down on it. The best thing about this pipe clamp is that it eliminates the need for a threaded pipe.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Innovation
What a great new innovation to a pipe clamp. I no longer have to have a threaded pipe with the IRWIN pipe clamps. The special clutch mechanism allows you to use an unthreaded pipe which will save you money and more importantly your time. This is one of those ideas that you say why didn't I think of that.

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible quality control
The concept behind these pipe clamps is great, but I had exactly the same problem that Dana Vogel did (we're not related). Specifically, the clutch plates on the fixed side were installed upside down so that the long tabs point down. As a result, the clamp cannot lay flat, which completely defeats the entire purpose of these clamps. There is absolutely no excuse for this kind of obvious mistake, and a company with a reputation like Irwin should never, ever have allowed this to happen. The fact that another person here experienced the same problem leads me to believe that Irwin has enormous quality control problems. I will definitely be returning these. I plan to replace them with the similar ones recently released by Rockler even though the Rocker clamps require a threaded pipe. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Indispensable
I built a shed recently with a wide door to accomodate big tools. I made this door out of 2x6 tongue-and-groove decking boards, which I needed to clamp together to attach 2x4 bracing. So a pair of "Pony" clamp fixtures and a couple lengths of black pipe was just the ticket -- or almost. The decking boards needed a bit of persuasion to get all 9 planks together, and I didn't want to gouge the nice oak. Some cedar shims against the clamp pads promptly crumpled when I tightened the clamps. So I left the door until the next weekend and ordered these clamp pads.

Now I have a nice shed with a sturdy, attractive door on it. And no clamp marks!

Strongly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars They work!
There is not much criteria one could comment on clamp pads. I have installed these on all my Jorgenson I-Bar clamps, and they (1) are non-marring and, (2) stay on the clamps very well. What more can one ask for?

5-0 out of 5 stars Hassle-free Clamping
Purchased several sets for my extensive clamp collection, and have been very satisified. These pads are tough, and will not stick to the work. At the same time, they eliminate slippage and twisting as the clamp is being tightened. In addition, they fit the less costly Pittsburg brand pipe clamps like a glove. I have found that these clamps are every bit as good as the Jorgensen clamp for about 1/3 the price! These pads make them even better.

4-0 out of 5 stars No pipe clamp is complete without them.
I have installed these pads on all of my 3/4" pipe clamps because they work great! They are fairly inexpensive, they don't seem to wear out under normal use, and they keep the edges of clamped boards in pristine condition. I would buy these clamp pads again without reservation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth the price.
These covers fit over the ends of your barclamps to protect the object being clamped from the hard steel clamping mechanism. They are not necessary but make life easy. If you dont use these pads you can substitute something else, but that can sometimes complicate the clamping process. Because these are attached to the clamps, its one less thing that you have to fight with when trying to secure your project. They are well worth the price. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Mate the size to your work needs, but all of them are great
The big benefit to these is that you get true mobility out of them. While holding a piece of work, lined up, in one hand, you use these quick grips in the other hand to secure the work. If it slips while clamping, it is still a one handed tool to release it, and reclamp it again. Enables you to maintain a professional flow to your work. I feel awkward when using regular clamps in comparison. They require two hands. You could use a spring clamp to hold it together, then get another clamp to give it a final hold, but the quick grip saves you from having to do that.
Having these clamps in a few different sizes is beneficial as well. Small ones are more frequently used, and don't get in the way. The 33 1/2" is great when you need to hold larger projects together, and you can't effectively use two smaller ones to substitute. Additionally the macro clamps give you deeper jaws for a farther reach, enabling you to use them for securing work, to your radial arm saw table for example. They are fast enough to be used for almost any application. Sometimes I use them to secure work when sanding with a power sander. A couple squeezes and they are on, and one squeeze and they pop off.
After getting the smaller ones, and using them, I immediately order two of the 33 1/2" for larger projects, and for tie downs on equipment, including the drill press, and occasionally the radial arm saw.
Their is a small rubber stopper, which you can readily remove, in order to reverse the end, and make it a spreader as well. Something not needed very often, but difficult to achieve without one of these.
One note is that these have built in rubber pads, that completely cover the metal internal end. That is an advantage when you do not want to mar the wood. That and the fact that you can squeeze these with one hand, creates a mechanism that is easy to use, but not something that you would want to use for strength clamping. As a safety measure, these clamp sufficiently for most operations, but a threaded bar clamp, is stronger. So for those operations where extreme strength is needed, these are not the clamps to use. You sacrifice mountain holding strength for the ease of use. For example if I was using a large bit on the drill press, and drilling into metal, I would clamp it with something more. Even the slightest movement in an operation like that, could cause a snag, sending the piece into movement. If you are using just one of them, at the end of a 24" board, and decide to rout the other end, it will move on you. Securing it with two of them, and it is super tied down. You get my drift.
The big advantage of quick grip clamps, is that they handle wood beautifully, even for glue up operations. Hold workpieces more than securely to do the job in most applications, and are so handy that they deserve more than 5 stars. I would feel lost without them. It is another tool in the must have category.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Clamp, Good Size
This clamp uses the ingenius trigger grip design for unbelievable ease of use. This makes the clamp unbelievably easy to tighten using one hand. A few warnings about this particular product, however:

(1) Be sure the size is correct. I think the 18" size is the best all-around size. But, if you are doing very large projects, the 36" size may be better.

(2) The plastic construction makes the clamps best for holding items "approximately" in place. If you need total clamping for cutting precision, look elsewhere.

All in all, a good product if it is the right size, and used for the right purpose.

3-0 out of 5 stars Convenient, yes...Worth the hype...No Way
These clamps are easy to use. The adjust with one hand. They don't mar the wood. But they lack the clamping power of j-clamps or c-clamps. I have about 6 of them and they're great for holding a piece of wood to the workbench for routing or sanding, but that's about it. Don't even try using them for glue-ups. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A matter of preference
I believe the HD Jorgensens are the best bar clamps available. Bessey's tradesman are good, but can be a little inconsistant on the quality control end & a little too expensive. Record's are good too but very expensive. I prefer the Jorgensen's clutch, it holds better. You can snug the clamp up tight enough to hold the work yet still make adjustments just by pushing it together, an excellent feature. Jorgensen's pads are top notch, they're thick & soft & truly protect the work. The Jorgensen swivel allows you to clamp up to about a 15 degree angle with no additional clamping aids, very nice. I like the big wooden handles, I find them easy on the hands. Untill someone comes up with a better featured bar clamp, "Jorgies" will remain the prefered clamp on my workbench.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Clamps
Good clamps. Not Bessey, next best thing and cheaper. 4 stars only cause their wooden handles look like they were made in Iraq.

One of the essentials when setting up a shop. You need multiples of all sizes. The Jorgensen along with the Pony pipe clamps are my favorites. They are easy to set up and use, they hold the piece tight and with the rubber pads they don't mar the wood. They also make a 24" and above with a ratcheting system (very nice). You can't go wrong with Jorgensen. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best K-body clamp made
I bought a set of 4 ((2) 48" and (2) 24") Jorgensen K-body clamps to do cabinet doors. I compared side by side with the Bessey k-bodies and these came out ahead far enough to make my choice for me. (1) larger face area to spread the load, (2) beefier I-beam between the clamp faces to withstand more torque and pressure, (3) a removable "foot" at the end that keeps the clamp level and allows the adjustable face to slide without lifting the clamped object AND lets you take the adjustable face off and reverse it for a spreader function, (4)The price was comparable, and (5) they matched the rest of my Jorgensen F-body clamps (of which I have a bunch) so my collection stays color coordinated :-) The two draw backs I would mention are (1) they are heavy and bulky so will not always be the first you reach for on simple clamping tasks (just the ones you want really square and solid) and (2) if you back the hand screw all the way out, then slam the jaw home, it will jam shut and you may have to get a screw driver and pry the locking pawl back a bit to get the jaw to release. Not much more than an annoyance but usually happens when you are trying to clamp one handed and are holding your work with the other. This usually results in some severe mumbling while you lay everything down, unstick the clamp, then try to set it all up again (still one handed). Over all they are more than worth it and I intend to purchase more as my budget allows!

4-0 out of 5 stars Metal parts are cast metal, not very strong.
I bought two of the 48" model clamps and had one snap in a way to make the clamp useless. The part that snapped was inside the clamp side, it was made of a cast metal of some sort. It actually broke into two, plus two small fragments of metal that I found sitting on the ground under it. The clamp was holding Ok, but then I heard a pop, and found that the clamp had given up. I will be curious about the warranty on this clamp. I noticed that the adds here in Tool Crib don't mention a warranty, so I will have to get in touch with the manufacture to see if there is one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent clamping- "feet" are the best feature
I have a few Bessey K-body clamps, which until I got 8 of these Jorgensens, were the first thing I would grab. The Cabinet Masters have the advantage of that nifty "foot" at the bar end, which match the opposite fixed clamp end in depth. This makes the Cabinet Masters superior, in my opinion. I just lay the Clamp Masters on the floor, place my (usually large and cumbersome) pieces on top of the bars, slip in some scraps/cork/cauls between the pieces and the clamping surfaces, then slide the clamp towards the edge. The feet allow this to slide smoothly. With the Besseys, I have to physically lift the bar ends (and the entire weight of the assembly) in order to move the clamp mechanism. Not fun. Yes, Bessey sells a $25 "foot," which is probalby very useful. But, this is not as useful as a built-in clamp that you won't "misplace" and "do without."

The only annoyance was one clamp that became "jammed" when the slider slid all the way down, touching the fixed clamp surface. Because the knob was turned "fully loose," I could not loosen it to retract the clamp. The locking cam was basically stuck shut. I had to flip the clamp over and drop the bar end onto a 2x4 several times before it unclenched. I guess the warning is don't turn the clamping screws fully CCW or else this might happen the clamp slides shut unexpectedly. The clamp works fine still, so no harm done.

I'm buying more of these, as my last project required the use of every single 48" clamp I had! You can never have too many clamps!

5-0 out of 5 stars The most popular size and most frequently used
The big benefit to these is that you get true mobility out of them.

4-0 out of 5 stars I love this Clamp/spreader
As with the entire quick grip products the features that should entice you to buy and use the Quick-Grip 512QC Bar Clamp/Spreader are the ease of adjustment and the fact that it won't mar even the softest of wood yet still provide ample force for your project. Being able to use it as both a clamp and a spreader is a major Plus over the other clamps available. People with low hand strength or hand pain can use the trigger ratchet used for the adjustment with ease. It only requires a firm squeeze just over the pressure used for scissors.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Clamp in the Market!
I went out and bought a 12" 512QC Quick-Grip Bar clamp/spreader just a few days ago and felt I should have bought it a long time ago. I can do most of the clamping with one hand now. I am not a professional but this tool let me do my work much x faster. The grip is very strong. In one click you can loosen it and the other handle on top tightens it. The Rubber grips protects wood from being damaged. You don't need to insert anything between wood and the grip. I want to buy the bigger length ones when the need arise. Also this is very lightweight and strong. I think every wood working enthusiast or pro should have it

5-0 out of 5 stars Quick Grip clamps and spreaders for woodworking
I have been crafting fine cabnitry for many years now. In the process I have used virtually every clamp and strap device on the market. From Jegenson, strap clamps, spring grip, bar clamps (circular & retangular) to the racheting designs. All have particular advantages, but the best overall clamp that I have used for wood glueing and wookwrking is the quick grip. Some of their advantages are ease of clamping and or releaseing the mechanism itself. The clamp can also be quickly adjusted using one hand assuming that the clamp has been "gross" adjusted to the approximate size of the work piece. Gross adjustment is a simple one second process of sliding the statioanry end of the clamp down the staft to the approximate size of the work-piece. Equally easy to operate is the quick (hence the name) release button. It provides easy readjustments of tension or clamp position. Both of these features as esential whan working alone or with a complex assembly that requires pressure while the clamp is being applied. The weight of the clamps that I use the most (standard 36 and 24 inch clamps) are approxmiatly 2 and 2.5 lbs respectivly. These are the lightest clamps that I have used given their holding strength. They provide much more holding force than I have ever need for cabinet making with no apparent slippage over 24 hours (typ glue cure cycle). Their only limitation is their length. They come in standard lengths of 12, 18, 24, 36, and 50 inch lenghts. I guess the manufacturer assumes that if you wnat to build somehting bigger than 50 inches, you and prodably a professional and will have custom holddown hardware of your own... 5-0 out of 5 stars Meet the new boss....
I own two of the Bessey K-body clamps at this same size (well, close - the 31" clamps) and would have rated them five stars. But I decided to give these clamps a try, and now the Besseys, though still excellent clamps, drop to four stars and the Jorgensens get a solid five. They have all the benefits of the K-body clamps, with some clever improvements. There is a very nicely designed clip at the end of the bar which can be removed to allow the movable jaw to be reversed to turn the clamp into a spreader. The clip also does double duty - it is the same height as the two jaws, so it stabilizes the end of the bar when the two jaws are close together (i. e., when you are clamping something small). With the Besseys, if you set the clamp on the floor and move the jaws close together, the unsupported end causes the clamp to tilt - the clip on the Jorgensens eliminates this minor annoyance. The jaw faces are considerably larger - this is a small advantage in length, but the extra width is really useful. You can lay the clamps on their side and still have useful clamping depth - not a lot, granted, but useful if you only need to clamp 3/4" or so, in which case you can put pressure on a much longer area. This would help in edge joining boards, for example. And the larger handle is more comfortable.
Jorgensen has the K-bodies beat in pretty much every feature. The Besseys are still most excellent clamps - I'm certainly not getting rid of mine, but my future purchases will be the Jorgensens. By the way, these comments are specifically about the 24" and 30" clamps that I actually own and have used, but I don't see why they wouldn't also be true of the other lengths. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars World's strongest clamp
If you need a tremendous amount of pressure, this is the clamp. The tightening handle is no-nonsense. I dropped one of these clamps, and put a nice big chip in the concrete floor.

I have one beef with these beefy clamps. The jaw on the clutch side is not parallel to the jaw on the screw side. It becomes parallel as you tighten the screw. I love to use these clamps on butcher block glue-ups. The problem is that sometimes the jaw on the clutch side causes your boards to slip when you are tightening. I usually use a couple speed or F clamps first, then get the jaws of death on it. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Not Godzilla, But A Strong Clamp
For maximum clamping power, the ¾" pipe clamp is the way to go. If your needs are not as demanding, then then this is the clamp for you.

The crank style handle worked very smooth and has adequate travel. The adjustment with the handle was such that either light or heavy pressure could be applied with ease. The clamps can also be set horizontally on a flat surface allowing you to edge glue pieces for tabletops very easily. The beauty of this style clamp is the ability to change clamping length needs quickly. One clamp with multiple lengths of threaded steel1 ½" pipe gives you endless capabilities.

While the steel bar type clamps does have their niche for lighter task (drawer construction, carcasses assembly, etc) and the ¾" pipe clamps handle you most demanding jobs, these clamps could be considered a hybrid (in capacity rating) of the two. For my money though, its worth a little extra in investing in the ¾" model as oppose to this one. But then again, why not have both? You can never have enough clamps!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars A good clamp - with limitations.
These clamps are the little cousin of Pony's great 3/4" pipe clamps. While the 1/2" clamps work fine within their limits, they do have limits. Applying a lot of pressure will flex a 1/2" pipe, possibly leading to an out of square joint. I also do not think that the clamp tightening mechanism is as well made as on the 3/4" clamps, but it is still pretty good. I have several of these clamps and while I think they are a good value for the money, I would suggest spending a few more dollars for the 3/4" clamps.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best pipe clamp I've tried
I've tried three or four different company's. All the different clamps hold very good but this one is, by far, the easiest to tighten, loosen and adjust! It's the only pipe clamp I'll buy! ... Read more
