Purchased 4the 6 volt charge feature
I bought this unit because it was the only one I could find that had the 6 volt option. DON'T be mislead. Add says 12/2/75... NOT SO for the 6 volt side. It has only two options... 12 amp & Start. Also charger does not have an amp gauge instead it has some funky idiot type gauge that tells you when your battery is LOW, HALF, and FULL. Not what you want for a Manual type charger. I use a hydrometer to tell me when it's fully charged. I want to know how many amps I am using. Thus allow me to keep the battery from getting to hot. Also allowing me to trickle charge and bring up a low cell without frying the others. My use is a golf cart 36 Volts, (Six, 6 Volt Batteries). I am using the unit now, ran it all night on a battery with one low cell. Battery is boiling a little (12 amps!) so far so good. But I would sleep a lot better knowing that I am pushing no more than 2 AMPS.
My advice... Keep looking if a true manual 2/12/75 6 volt is your need. ... Read more

Wrong place to put your money
For the price of this bag and a decent set of cables, you can get a portable jump start system from Husky, Coleman, etc. with a built in worklight (added bonus, you can use these systems as a power source for power outages, tailgate parties, extended cell use, etc.) And, these gadgets are easier to use and/or store than cables. Add about 10 bucks, and you can get the models that have light duty air compressors built in.

Must Have for Tidy Northerners
So you live in the north -- maybe even the Great White North, eh? Well, then you know that jumper cables are an absolute necessity for winter. Maybe you have cables and they always get in a tangle; or, perhaps you don't want to get cables because they will just make clutter. Well, then this bag is for you.

The bag is rugged, compact (the size of a good size cheesecake), and nice -- classy even. Best of all, it works! Cables stay in a nice coil, your trunk is less messy, and the cables are easy to grab when you need them. It even has a small pocket on the side for smal items.

My only wish is that it came in black!

Pay attention
Ok, I admit I should have paid a little closer attention, but beware. There are NO jumper cables with this. This is merely an overpriced BAG. I suppose if you really like to keep your jumper cables in a heavy duty bag, maybe this is for you, but if that is the case, you may be using your jumper cables too much. Let's be honest, your hope is to never use these things and if you do, you dont need them stored in some expensive bag collecting dust.

Oh by the way, this item CAN NOT BE RETURNED. So pay attention here and hopefully you are smarter than I am.

Keeps your cables neat.
Made of durable material, this bag unzips and opens wide, like a book, so the cables can be easily re-coiled inside. Might as well get the long ones....
It never fails, that when you need a jump, you are parked nose-in the parking space. With 25 foot cables, you don't need to push the car out. Plus, it doesn't matter what side the battery is on. AMAZON.COM sells 12, 16, 20 and 25 foot lengths. Compare the prices, and the 25 foot is a good value for just a little extra money. Thick, heavy, 4 gauge wire provides quick starts (these things weigh about 15 pounds!). Each clamp has a glow in the dark polarity indicator on it. At first, this sounds like a solar powered flashlight, because the cables are stored in the dark trunk, but ten seconds in front of the booster car's headlights will charge them up. Let Me Down When I Needed It
This product seemed like a great idea, especially for the less mechanically inclined members of my family. In 2002, I bought 5 of these, 4 for Christmas gifts and 1 for myself. Last night, my battery died and I needed to use it for the first time. It didn't work! Nothing happened. Thank goodness the other motorist who offered the jump had a set of traditional jumper cables in her car. Of course, it's now over a year later and it's too late to return it. All I can do now is warn the other family members not to rely on my gift.

Jump Start thru cig-lighter
The name is misleading in that you aren't "Jump-starting" your car. The current that a dead battery draws off of a running (donor) car will never make it through the cigarette lighter's fuse-protection. The fuse is there in case of a short that would melt wires, and in this case, it would detect the current as a short and blow the fuse.

But the charging aspect seems straight-forward

Don't wait to try it out
I thought this idea was so great I bought 5 to give as Christmas gifts. People were really excited to get them and thought it was a neat idea. However, jump starting your car isn't something you necessarily do on Christmas morning -- or even the following month.

When we finally had occasion to use them, two turned out to be DOA -- entirely non-functional, and the other three were ineffective. Of course, by that time the Amazon 30-day return policy had kicked in, and my stocking stuffers had turned into trash can stuffers. My suggestions for this product fall into three categories:

1. If you buy it, don't wait until you need it to try it out.

2. Don't buy it early if you're giving it as a gift. (You won't be able to return it.)

3. Don't buy it at all.

I used it once. I was able to chanrge my car battery (I charged it for 15 min to be safe).
