Really Came Through
During the power outage we just experienced (8/14/03) I pulled out four flashlights. This one was in my nighttable since I don't know when. It was the only one that went on. I even changed the batteries in two of the others, and nothing. But with this little flashlight I read by it, walked by it, etc., Great little clear bright light. Then I was able to borrow another flashlight which turned out to be Duracell's larger flashlight--that was great, too. Am stocking up for every room in the house.

The perfect compact flashlight
This little flashlight powered by 2 AA cells (standard, alkaline, or rechargeable) is as close to perfect for many purposes as I have ever seen. I bought my first one nearly 30 years ago for backpacking, and it still works fine! I have upgraded it to the brighter krypton bulb, with apologies to Clark Kent.Small, light, bright, highly reliable and tough, rectangular so it won't roll away from you and can be stood up on either the narrow or wide side or even the back end. I have used it for tying flies to a leader, holding it in my teeth in the middle of a roaring river, and for traveling worldwide.Headlamps are nice for some things, but not as versatile or compact. Good for kids and camping.
My daughter needed a flashlight for summer camp 4 years ago. This works well, and for a really good price. The other girls liked that this one also does double duty as a lantern, for schlepping to the bathroom and late night walks over a suspension bridge. Seems they all preferd the lantern to regular a flashlight. My niece wants one for camp now.

Seems quite durable, have had it for 4 years and it has lasted through 3 sessions at camp, several outdoor activities and no idea what else she may have put it through. It has been knocked on walls, dropped 2 stories, still can not believe it made it survived that.

They had no complaints, and seemed quite pleased with this. I recommend for going to summer camp or just overnight in the backyard on the trampoline. ... Read more

A savior
The item was indispensable during the blackout. Walking down 11 flights of stairs with no stairwell lights was only made possible by my having this. Other tenants followed me down and cheered on reaching street level.

Excellent Light; Terrible Battery Drain
This is going to sound a bit odd, but I bought this light because I needed a good light source to use with my Game Boy Advance, and the idea of that light always being where I want it was too good to pass up.

The light itself is excellent, having one of the brightest and cleanest spots I've seen. While it is a bit heavy to wear it has a very comfortable pad and easily adjusted strap. I eventually got used to the weight.

Here is the ONLY reason I did not give this creative little wonder 5 stars: Incredibly short battery life. The 4 AA's that came with it were drained in about an hour of use, and when I went out and bought 4 more AA's those died out in about 3 hours. Admittedly, I do use the light for a longer stretch at once than most (to play the games), but I think that 3 hours of straight use to have the batteries die is very limited.

This is really a neat idea
Any of you nerds out there (like me) watch Dr. shows and just wish you could get hold of one of those handy little head lights. Well, this is the next best thing.

CONSTRUCTION: This head light is constructed of a rubber head band adjustable in a wide range. I wear a size 7 hat and this head band circumference could go a full 2 inches larger and about 8 inches smaller. Based on this size it could also go on your arm or leg as well. The flashlight part has rubber in the back to stay in place. Also the flashlight can pivot 180 degrees straight up or down. The top 90 degrees adjustment is infinite, the lower 90 degrees has 9 fixed positions. If you prefer the reverse just put the headband on upside down. The flashlight part is made like a tee with the tops of the tee held in a frame that holds the head band. Where the top of the tee goes into the frame, there are the hand grips to adjust the angle as well as the grip to turn on. The batteries are in the top of the tee. The bottom of the tee is the bulb and lens unit.

OPERATION AND BRIGHTNESS: It is turned on by a twist action so is unlikely to get accidentally turned off. It takes 4-AA size batteries that come with it. The batteries make up about half the weight of the unit. There is a single level of brightness and it is very bright. Shown at a wall of about 6 feet away the brightest ring is about 8 inches across, but the outer ring is over 12 feet in diameter.

USES: I bought this light for hands free work where I needed a brighter light or I could not get my snake light in under the sink or pointed consistently in the right direction. I'm sure you could wear this light on a bike. I'm not sure if you could use it for jogging, as the flashlight section is a bit heavy and bouncing may result on working it down on your face.

Bright as the sun !
I bought these two and a AA size version all in one package at the Home Depot one year. I didn't really think that these lights were going to be up to the task of lighting up the dark.

Wow.

The sheer amount of light that came out of these is amazing. Truly a bright light to contend with. Espcially the 2D and lantern-they slice through the dark-and very far too! The only problem is that, well, although the outer casing is durable (sort of), the innards aren't very durable / non-shock proof, so watch out and don't drop them.

I would sincerely recommend these lights to anyone, budget or not. Even if you have some of the best lights on earth (like 'Streamlight' or 'Rayovac's' new 'Sportsman' lights, like me), these are still recommended for their terrific oversized reflectors and great power. Even has a signal switch! Big thumbs up.

P.S. - get the yellow colour-in case you drop these in the dark before you turn them on-easier to find. ... Read more

Do Not Buy!
This is a company which does not stand behind its questionably built products. I received this as a present and charged it up and used it less than 10 times --- the battery appeared to need recharging but it wouldn't recharge -- the red light wouldn't come on and when I called them to let them know, they couldn't have cared less. They acted like it was okay to have the board that recharges it stop working within 2 weeks of using it. They had a surly attitude and said that if I wanted anything done I'd have to send it in at my expense and they wouldn't reimburse me. Additionally, it looks like the company's sticker on the back of it is the only thing that keeps the two halves together. I'm sending it back to my parents and they are taking it back to the store. My recommendation: find a well-known company's product and not this unpleasant business. ... Read more
