5-0 out of 5 stars Work with this. You'll love it.
This is my first flashlight. The reason i chose this is because it has a combination of both LED n Xenon, for close n far view respectively. I use it for my work in the aviation industry. Just by the 6 LEDs alone enable me to carry out my inspections that is about 20feet away. Needless to say about the Xenon bulb. ;)
Two cons about this flashlight are it is a little heavy as it hold 3 C-size batts and the focus beam does not seem to achieve the standard that i want.
Overall, this is great stuff!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Real Tactical Flashlight
This is a true tactical flashlight which gives you three settings depending on your requirement. At the lowest setting this light is the most powerful flashlight I've owned. The smaller, low battery drain bulbs(3 or 6 burn setting) shoot powerful "blue" light like a science fiction laser ray gun. I use mine to walk my dog in evening. This torch really gets people' attention. Due to it's heavy duty construction it's a bit on the heavy side. But then this thing is sturdy enough to double as a small baton.

5-0 out of 5 stars Two for the price of one.
This is a great flashlight. I have two other LED flashlights and they are good but they don't fit the bill when you need a BRIGHT light. With this I have both, the LEDs are bright and will give you what you need 90% of the time, But when you need more you just turn on the Xenon and you have a very bright light. I also like the strong metal case, it has the feel of a Mag light. If you have been thinking about getting a LED flashlight this is the one to get. (they make other sizes you might like for yourself) ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Quick Warm Heat cuts morning chill
I have the older version that is functionally identical to the current version (they replaced the L-bolt that holds the heater on the tank with a ribbed knob on the new version). I love it for taking the morning chill off the house in the morning. I keep it in the kitchen and fire it up first thing on a cold morning. After about 30 minutes the chill is off not only the kitchen but the adjacent master bedroom and living rooms.

Be cautious - like any unvented heater it can be dangerous if you try to heat an unvented space for any length of time.

It is economical to use and even more so if you are able to find a local propane tank refiller. If you are forced to exchange the tank, it can cost [$$$]. If you have the tank refilled it will only cost [$$$].

My heater was given to me, used, and I liked it so much I gave one to my sister to use when she didn't want to burn the fireplace. I am now going to buy a newer one for the house, and relegate the older on out to my workshop.

Reliable, efficient, made in the USA - whats not to like. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Well worth the price
Like a lot of people who will be looking at this light, I am a long time user of Mag lights. They are bull tough and well made.Well, this light is made even better, and the handle section offers a much more positive grip than a Mag (it even has a lanyard on the end). The Xenon light is brighter than my Mag of equivalent batteries - it does not, however, have near the range of focus that a Mag does. That isn't a huge problem as any 2 D cell is better used for fairly close work anyway.Leave the long distance spot for the 6 cell. There is plenty of light for lighting up a trail or barn. The Xenon will light up reflective trail markers for at least 200 feet, much further than you're likely to be able to see through brush or trees.

As far as the LED portion of the light goes, I am very pleased. The switch has three lighting positions - 5 LED, 10 LED, and the Xenon, in that order.Under fifteen feet or so, there isn't much brightness difference noticeable between the 5 and the 10, but you can really see a change past that.On ten LEDs, the light is useful up to about 40 feet, more if you happen to be in a cave. Most of the time, I just use the 5 LEDs as I generally only need something for under 15 feet. This light will be great for catfishing - switch it to 5 LEDs and just leave it on so it's handy and doesn't get lost on the ground. And 5 LEDs are all you'll need to walk the most darkened trail.Battery life is long enough not to worry about running them down when using the LEDs.

One little problem I have is with the lanyard. It's attached with a split ring to a permanently attached point on the base.It is not very stable to stand on end with the lanyard in place - it will do it, just tip easy. However, you can remove the lanyard from the ring and reinstall differently to make it easier to remove.During a power failure, it's nice to have a flashlight that can be stood up on its end. This one doesn't have the Mag's candle feature, but with ten LEDs bouncing off a white ceiling, it will give good emergency lighting for a room or used in a tent.Of course, the lanyard also gives you the ability to hang it overhead, which is difficult with a Mag.

All in all, this is a worthwhile step up from a 2 D Mag, even at twice the price.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great flashlight, some minor problems
I bought this flashlight in November of 2003. My intention was to purchase a high quality flashlight that would last a long time and I believe the Streamlight fits my requirements nicely. The construction is patterned after Mag-Lite's series of flashlights and is very solid. I have not been able to scratch the anodized casing.

The LEDs are very bright and can be turned on 5 at a time or all 10 at a time. Usually, 5 is enough for anything I need to do. The xenon-bulb is unfortunately not particularly bright. It's comparable to a Mag-Lite but not to some of the other high-power lithium-battery flashlights that you can buy. There is a rotating lens that can focus the beam but it only really works for the xenon bulb. For the LEDs, the lens only changes the beam from reasonably concentrated to very diffuse.

5-0 out of 5 stars Streamlight 51001 TT-2D 2D-Cell Twin-Task Flashlight
I love this one. The Xenon bulb is not particularly effective, the flashlight is heavy,
and you need up to 3 clicks to turn it on/off. I still love it. It is so much
fun walking home from work [3 miles] in dark winter nights. I used
it all winter with the same batteries, the Xenon bulb is barely visible, but
the LEDs keep going. It's not only fun-fun-fun, but if I were ever attacked,
I am sure it would be as effective to defend myself as an uzi if not better.

I have the "titanium" version and it looks like a piece of [industrial] art.
It is superbly made. I had one minor problem with it and customer support
sent me the replacement part immediately. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Get a grip
This low cost vise will hold whatever you need to drill a hole in on your drill press. The quick release lets you change pieces fast for repetitive drilling. Unfortunatly, it does not fit the Delta DP300 bench drill press .... It is much too large and the mounting holes do not line up...

2-0 out of 5 stars Too large for 990 bench drill press
Although it's advertised to fit the Delta 990 press, it does not. The bolt holes in the vise simply will not line up square w/ the slots in the drill press table. I can c-clamp it to the table of the press and it works fine, but no one wants to have to make such basic compromises with a brand new tool. I'm going to return it and look for the 4" vise instead.
The two stars reflects my frustration with the false advertising, not the quality of the product. I agree with the prior reviewers regarding the quality.

5-0 out of 5 stars better then expected
Seeing that this is a 6 inch vise for under thirty dollars I though there was a quality issue for it being so cheap. Not so. The quick release feature is very handy. And it's so big it doubles as a bench vise when I need it. If your drill press is big enough, get this vise.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great addition to a Delta Drill Press
The Quick Release Vise is a great addition to any delta drill press. It makes drilling very easy and accurate, since you aren't trying to use clamps or your hands to hold onto wood or metal. This vise does not come with bolts to attach it to your drill press, you need to buy those from your local hardware store. I'd also suggest making wood blocks to put on the walls of the vise, so you don't mess up what you want to drill. Have a rag on hand to wipe the non-rust oil off when you open the vise shipping box. Overall it is a good addition to any drill press. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Pump Jack Brace
Works as advertised, but there are a couple of shortcomings which are related and may not affect many people.

First, the span between the attachment points is 32" based on the assumption that they will be used with 16" stud spacing. Since I was working high on the gable end of my house, I was attaching to the end roof truss which has 24" spacing between verticals. My solution was to make an adapter out of a 2x4 which would fit between the brace and the house.

Second, the two mounting holes at each attachment point are 3" apart which means they can't both be used to attach to a horizontal 2x4 (ie: the adapter mentioned above). I had to drill an aditional hole between the two existing holes on the brace so I could mount each side with two screws.

Since I pre-drilled the holes on the side of the house, I was able to mount them by myself with no problem. I was able to hold the brace with one hand and insert the screw with the other while standing on a ladder. They're not very heavy and since the attachment points swivel, the braces hang down while you're attaching them. The only part of the job I found intimidating was handling the heavy poles (22 feet long in my case) while standing way up there.

It turned out that the 30" length was fine for my particular job, but they would certainly be more versatile if they were adjustable as mentioned by the other reviewers.

3-0 out of 5 stars Does the trick, but could be better
I agree somewhat with the other reviewer - this brace should be longer to provide more space between the platform and the building. However, the brace works as it is supposed to, and if your trim doesn't extend too from from the outside of your building then the platform will clear. Also, attaching the brace to the house is a two-person job generally - one to hold the brace, the other to drive screws. This means you need two ladders at least as tall as your Pump Jack pole to set this brace.

5-0 out of 5 stars Safety First
A previous reviewer lamented the length of the brace. OSHA has a maximum recommended distance from the edge of the scaffolding to the work, which would be exceeded if the brace were longer. It makes sense. My kit worked perfectly for me, and will for you, if you follow the directions. It's just your neck!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Brace too short
The brace holds the scaffold 30 inches away from the side of the building. I needed it to be at least 36 inches away from the building because the scaffold did not clear the width of my soffit. The brace should be longer, or at least adjustable. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars As advertised
Good flashlight overall. It's about the size of a 2D cell light with a nice white round spotlight, not as bright as regular flashlights. The light diminishes after about four or five minutes and continues to dim until almost 20 minutes. Only wished they added some more storage capacitors to make the light last longer since there's so much room.

5-0 out of 5 stars As Advertised
It's not really fair to compare this to a normal flashlight, anymore than it would be to compare a normal flashlight to a plugged in floodlight.

This flashlight, of course, uses no batteries. A little bit of shaking gives you bright light that will slowly taper down in power until you give it some more shakes. A few notes:
1) "20 minutes of light" is somewhat arbitrary. The light slowly diminishes over time. You'll need to shake it more often if you're trying to, for example, read a book, but if you're just trying to see your way to the bathroom because the power went out then after 20 minutes you can still use it to find the doorknob before you need to shake it some more. For outdoor use I think you'd want to shake it fairly frequently to keep the trail lit.
2) For those who don't read the manual (like me at first!), note that you should shake it from side-to-side, not up-and-down. The repulsor magnets in the casing do half the work for you as long as you're shaking it horizontally (and the main magnet won't bang against anything that way). Shaking it vertically won't damage it but you'll end up doing more work.
3) Maybe this is common knowledge, but I didn't know: the capacitor stays charged so you can charge up the light, keep it switched off, stick it in a drawer and it'll be ready to go when you need it, pre-shaken.
4) The on-off switch glows in the dark, so you can find it when the lights go out.

As for a measurement of how bright the light is, I'd say it's a bit less than a regular flashlight with brand new batteries but it's certainly sufficient to read with and it's bright enough that you don't want to look directly into it.

I'd say this light is a must-have both for home use and camping. While it might not be as bright as a latern or battery light, it has the advantage of being free to use and will still work if all your other light sources run out of juice.

This is certainly a great one for the kids, who can now play with the flashlight all they want and you don't have to keep buying expensive replacement batteries or rechargers! Make with the shadow puppets, cause it's free.

Oh, incidentally:
* It floats and is very waterproof.
* Because of the magnents, if you dangle it from a string it will orient itself to point north.
* Case is a sturdy plastic, seems fairly indestructible short of setting it on fire.

I'm a sucker for cool toys and this is definiately a cool toy that happens to double as something useful.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best battery-free flashlight
After have owning a Forever Light and the Nightstar for 6 months I can say the Nightstar is better in every way. In pitch black nights the Nightstar light is useable for the full 20 minutes, but in low light (like at dusk or at dawn) the Nightstar gives a good bright light for the first 10 minutes and then slowly fades out. That is still 5 minutes longer than the Forever Light which is not as bright. If you need a good walking light and hate having to mess with batteries than you really need to try this light.

4-0 out of 5 stars A perfect addition to your emergency kit
I picked-up one of these flashlights at a boat show for slightly less than the Amazon price, and am quite satisfied with it. Construction quality is very high, and it really does work as advertised. The clear case provides a "cool-factor", too.
The "bulb" is a blue-white LED, and isn't quite as bright as a regular flashlight (hence, four stars). Still, it is quite adequate for general use. The brightness deminishes slowly over about a half-hour, but a few shakes brings it back to full power. ... Read more
