Amazon.com Review

Senco's SKS-L trim stapler is an excellent tool for a number of woodworking applications. In addition to cabinet, furniture, and molding assembly, it is also used on doors, window casings, trim, crating, agricultural boxes, fencing, and wood crafts. This medium-wire trim stapler is capable of driving 1/4-inch crown staples in lengths ranging from 7/8 to 1-1/2 inches. We found this model to be lightweight (only 4.2 pounds) and versatile, capable also of attaching aluminum and vinyl siding, underlayment, roofing sheathing, and decking materials. It holds 158 staples and comes with a restrictive trigger; however, Senco will provide a dual-action (bump-firing) trigger that allows for a firing rate of up to five staples per second. Senco is a pioneer of the oil-free industry--this stapler never needs lubrication, ensuring virtually trouble-free operation and low maintenance. The SKS-L is a great tool for general woodworking applications and beyond. --Tom Kasperson ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Powerful Stapler but lacking in features
For some tasks, a staple provides a stronger attachment than a small headed nail. A nail depends upon friction between the nail and the wood for its holding power. Sometimes the material being attached just does not provide a good friction grip, although the underlying material does. In these cases, a staple works better because the crown traps some of the upper material between the two legs. The upper material can't come loose unless the staple pulls out or the material breaks. That's why I went in search of a stapler

Before I purchased this stapler, I tried the Senco SLS20 stapler. The SLS20 was just not powerful enough - it would not drive one inch staples into maple through a drawer bottom. This stapler solves that problem. It's powerful enough to handle any wood I choose. I also like the oilless feature, not only because there's no oil to mar the work I'm doing, but also because I always forget to oil nailers that require oil. Although I haven't owned this stapler long enough to comment, other users have commented that the SKS is rugged and reliable over time.

While the SKS is a powerful stapler, there are a number of shortcomings to it.

1. The unit is big and heavy which makes it hard to maneuver.
2. There's no depth adjustment on the gun (the documentation erroneously says there is). To change the depth adjustment you have to buy a different driver and install it, or grind the existing one. You won't change the drive depth very often with this unit.
3. The gun does not detect when it's out of staples but keeps firing (blanks). The operator has to notice that nothing is being driven and re-load the stapler. The driver marks the surface even though no staple is driven so it's not easy to notice that nothing is being driven.
4. The air exhaust is not adjustable so you get blasted in the face under certain conditions.
5. The documentation is miserable - worse manual I've ever seen.
6. The gun is extremely expensive when compared to other narrow crown staplers.

All-in-all, it appears to me that the SKS is an old design that Senco keeps around, perhaps because there's not enough competition in this segment of the market to cause them to bring out a more modern design. I would recommend shopping around before you buy the SKS. There must be better staplers out there but I don't have enough experience yet to recommend one to you.

Update May 4, 2004: After using the SKS-L stapler for a few months, an additional problem appeared. The spring on the magazine is fairly weak. When the magazine gets low, the spring is not strong enough to push the staples into firing position and the gun fires a blank. The problem is intermittent - the gun may miss two or three staples and then begin firing again for a few staples. Because of the marking of the wood by the driver, you can't tell if a staple has been driven except by attempting to lift the wood to see if it is attached. The problem does not happen when the magazine is full.

Senco support has been fairly responsive to my problem and is sending me replacement parts.

This, by far is the best staple gun on the market(you will get what you pay for).. I've shot over 10,000 staples through everything from siding, sheathing to fence boards out of this stapler without one jamb. The oil-free feature makes it and even more "Must Have".. From the General Contractor to the "Weekender"..

I just installed the opener today.Fairly easy to install.I was able to use some of the exisiting hardware from the previous installation so I didn't have to worry about hangers or the wall or door mounts. The settings were pretty close right out of the box for distance and force. This has all the safety features that I was looking for plus it is very quiet. It is below our bedroom so I went with the belt drive.Much quieter than the LiftMaster chain drive it replaced.Besides all the usual bells and whistles that pretty much all the combo sets have (2 openers, rolling code, outside keypad, safety beam eyes) it has a cool feature that lets you add devices from the wall mount so you don't have to get up on a stool or ladder to press the "learn" button on the motor. The 2 100 watt lights are nice and bright. So far no complaints. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Amazon reshipped defective product to me! OUTRAGEOUS!
I got my Ultrastinger from Amazon today. It has a cracked/torn rubber nipple over the on/off switch, and from all the fingemarks and other tell-tale little marks on it, it's clearly a USED, PRE-OWNED item. Other evidence: the product box was not shrink-wrapped or sealed as it should be, and the battery was fully charged (new flashlights do not come with fully charged NiCad batteries).

I am outraged that Amazon would re-ship a returned, defective item, but that's exactly what has happened. This makes me very wary of ordering from them again. I immediately ordered that UPS come to pick this up and take it back at no charge to me. Now I have to "wait 7-12 days" AFTER they get this POS back before I get a refund. Nice.

Also, now that I've seen the way the rubber switch cover fails, I've decided not to get this product anyway. I'll have to look into another manufacturer.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST & THE BRIGHTEST!!!
//..

The Streamlight Ultra Stinger™ Rechargable flashlight ROCKS!!!

I am a gadget nut, and I have a very large number of flashlights. IMHO, there is no better all-around flashlight than Streamlight's Ultra Stinger.

It truly is amazing how bright and light-weight this flashlight is. It puts out up to 75,000 candlepower yet weighs only 1.1 pounds. Not only is it bright, but you can focus the light to a small, penetrating beam that can be seen for miles.

Don't let the light weight fool you, however. This flashlight feels rock-solid in your hand, and it can take a licking. I take mine running almost every night, and have dropped it on the pavement more than a few times, and it just keeps going.

The Ultra Stinger is also durable and reliable. I've had my current model for over two years now, and the battery is still fine. I did have to replace the light bulb once, but that's not bad considering how many hours it's been in use and how many times I've recharged it.

The only flashlight that even compares to the Ultra Stinger is the SureFire 10X Dominator™. The Dominator weighs only 1.25 lbs and has a two-lamp assembly that allows you to run it at 60 lumens (roughly 36,000 CP by my calculations, about half the output of the Ultra Stinger) for up to 3 hours, or at an incredibly bright 500 lumens for up to 20 minutes. Yes, 500 lumens (or roughly 300,000 CP) is 4X brighter than the Ultra Stinger, but the light is UNFOCUSED, so the brightness is lost over any real distance as the light diffuses. When you factor in the ridiculously high price of the Dominator (the best price I could find on the Internet was $360!), you can see why I recommend the Streamlight as the overall champion. The Dominator is a great flashlight in its own right, of course, so probably the best idea is to get both.

I have several other flashlights from Streamlight, and they are all very well-made. Nevertheless, whenever I want a nice bright flashlight, I always go for my Ultra Stinger. My only serious question about it is, how can Streamlight make the Ultra Stinger so bright and light-weight, while their other models don't even come close? The brightest flashlight in the SL- series is the SL-35, which weighs 2.8 pounds (almost 3X more than the Ultra Stinger) and puts out up to 40,000 CP (Slightly more than half that of the Ultra Stinger). Plus, it's more expensive! The MSPR on the SL-35 is $229.95 vs. $174.95 for the Ultra Stinger. That math doesn't add up.

Other unbelievable examples: Streamlight's 3.3 pound 8-Watt Vulcan™ spotlight can generate up to 50,000 CP, and the 7.4 pound 20-Watt Litebox™ spotlight can kick out up to 70,000 CP. How is it even remotely possible that the Ultra Stinger, weighing in at 1.1 pounds and sporting a 10-Watt bulb, can out-shine these oversized hogs? The obvious answer is "runtime" - the Litebox™ can run at 20 Watts for up to 3.5 hours compared to a 1 hour runtime for the Ultra Stinger. Who cares - I'll take the Ultra Stinger every time!

Streamlight should take their older lights off the market and replace them or update them with the better technology found in the Ultra Stinger, like they did with the new Stinger HP. The Stinger HP weighs 12.2 ounces and kicks out 40,000 CP. Plus, the beam can be focused, while the SL- series is "pre-focused".

I'm sure that Streamlight is on the case -- the HP models are nice, and I really like the Pro Polymer LED lights, too. I just wish that they could come out with an affordable competitor to the $1,800 Maxabeam 6 million CP spotlight.

BUY THIS FLASHLIGHT -- YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars It's only competitor is the sun.
I have never seen anything like this before in my life. The ratio of power to size blows my mind. I had someone shine this at me from about 50 feet away and it actually *blinded* me for about 10 seconds and I felt physically ill for about 10 minutes. If you buy this flashlight, you won't need a new one for about 50 years... because that's how long this thing was built to last.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great serviceable rechargeable light. Good quality.
Streamlight's UltraStinger is really in a niche by itself. Mag Light's rechargeables aren't as bright and SureFire's are much more expensive, so the UltraStringer is really made for someone desiring a quality light that won't break the bank.

Some of the nice features of this light: It's very lightweight, very bright (75,000 candlepower), run time is very good for this much light output. Well made, quality construction.

Some of the cons about this light: Plastic lens (seems only SureFire will give you a genuine Pyrex, glass lens these days) and the spot/flood range isn't really that much of a difference (Mag's spot/flood produces a SPOT or a FLOOD). The Streamlight has a very coarse adjustment range, really being all the same style output, with very LITTLE difference in the SPOT / FLOOD. This isn't as bad as it sounds as the light produced is a very good, pure white light, I'd just like to see more variation in the range, but I'm being picky here.

One thing's for certain; this light is much better than Mag's rechargeable and a lesser light than SureFire's 8 or 9N rechargeable. But, it's also half the price of the SureFire and 80% less than SureFire's 10-X. So, I've got to give it 5 stars for being a great value, occupying a market not really served by either Mag or SureFire.

If you're a contractor or home inspector, this light is THE value on the market in a bright, quality constructed rechargeable.

5-0 out of 5 stars Streamlight UltraStinger: I gotta wear shades
I've had a Streamlight UltraStinger for a little while now. Let me say that this is one, bright light!

+'s: BRIGHT, rechargeable, lightweight, adjustable beam from spotlight to floodlight, good quality/workmanship (not that cheap plastic stuff!), pushbutton switch (on/off/momentary on), up to 1 hour between charges, small diameter (easy for people with small hands to hold).

-'s: expensive, slightly long, charge time is long.

This flashlight is a little large to take with you when walking the dog, but it's not too bulky so you can bring it if you want.

This package from Amazon comes with both chargers (wall and car) so it's very convenient to throw it back in the charger when you are done using it. The charger is made so that you can place the flashlight into it by sliding it in from the top, or "snapping" it in from the front. A nice feature if you are limited on space when mounting the charger.

I have one in the car to read those street signs on those dark roads. Just as good as a Q-Beam spotlight, but smaller.

Would I get another one? Definitely! They are expensive, but you get what you pay for. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very nice gun.
I have owned this gun about a year now and it has been wonderful.
I have a SFN40 air gun which is very nice also but since I bought the AF41 I have not bothered to get the air gun out of the van. Both guns sit side by side and I always grab the AF41. I have never had a miss fire or a nail fail to set all the way. I don't work with 2" oak either. I can't imagine how Senco could improve this gun. I had paslodes in the past but the battery always was dead when I went to use it and they dont smell very good when used indoors.

2-0 out of 5 stars okay til it breaks...and it will
This gun is one of those products that you'll wonder how you ever did without until.....it eventually breaks down. And it's guaranteed that it will. I had the Air Free 41, along with the cordless brad nailer, and I was as happy as a clam with both of them. That is until they both eventually broke. The brad nailer broke on me 5 times and the finish nailer twice. Fortunately the HDepot carried them so I just returned them for a new one each time. Unfortunately, they no longer carry these items for reasons I can only guess might be that they were filling containers full of broken guns for return to Senco.

If you aren't going to use these guns for your livelyhood, then by all means get one. Make sure you have a backup compressor and gun just in case. By the way, Senco in south FL is no longer fixing these guns. The Dewalt rep will be happy to accomodate your repair for approximately half the cost of a new gun. What a bargain.

1-0 out of 5 stars good Idea poor product
I went through 5 of these guns and all failed. Luckily home depot took them all back. I spoke with a senco distributor who told me he sold 200 of these guns and had 180 returned. He said senco sent him some prototypes to try that all failed. He told senco that the gun wasn't ready for market, but they brought them out any way. I use senco air powered nail guns on a daily basis with tremendous satisfaction, but this gun is a loser.

5-0 out of 5 stars I Love this nail gun
I got mine at Christmas and have used it for about 3000 nails. All nails were 2 1/2 inch driven into pine, fir and oak. I have never had a problem or a jam. I have an 18 guage nailer and a framing nailer but I use the Senco now rather than these whenever possible because the Senco AF41 is cordless and easy to use.

I have been using it primarily for crown molding (1200 feet installed with the gun)and door jam nailing. The cordless operation is very nice for nailing molding. On a step ladder you can hold the molding with one hand and nail with this cordless gun in the other.

I did not know how handy this tool would be when I bought it but it is now one of my favorite tools.

5-0 out of 5 stars Expensive Toy - But Worth It.
I bought the AF-41 to help get some of those projects done that have been kicking around for a while. (At least that's what I told my wife.) It works as well as I expected...easy to use. A little heavy compared to an air tool but I'm not tripping over the hose. It especially handy for one- or two nail jobs.

A contractor working on my house tried it, and his comment was, "Hey, this is really slick!" He had been ready to go out to his truck and get his compressor, but finished the whole job with the AF-41, and it never missed a beat.

I've only had it a couple of months, but IMHO, this one's a keeper. ... Read more

Kreg's self-tapping screws were designed for its famous pocket-hole joinery, but that's not all they're good for. Kreg's self-tapping auger point eliminates time-consuming pre-drilling, and these screws are made from the highest quality steel, case-hardened and coated with a dri-lube finish. That means less driving torque for you. This coarse-thread screw has a larger thread diameter and provides greater holding power when driving a screw into soft material such as plywood, particle board, MDF, melamine and pine. The washer head offers a great surface area to seat the screw firmly and helps prevent overdriving. They're on the spendy side, but the quality is worth it.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars You need the coarse AND the fine screws
I had read a review that stated they were using the fine screws for everything. I found that when using soft pine, and more importantly into plywood, the fine screws were on the edge of getting the job done. All you had to do was remove one of the screws and reinsert it, to see what I mean. In my opinion getting the coarse screws, and the fine screws is essential.
These screws have a very sharp tip on them, and the shaft thickness is thin as well. Consequently you do not need to pre-drill unless you are using them close to an edge of a soft wood. In that condition the thin edge can bulge a little.
The great thing about pocket hole screws is their convenience, and strength especially when used in pairs. You will find your self using these more and more often. I even use them on straight joinery by drilling with a forstner bit to create a straight pocket, then go right in with the pocket hole screws. Admittedly by using the kreg jig, and getting an angled installation is stronger than going in straight. The angle prevents tugging on just the threads, but rather creates strength by having to pull the angled shaft through the wood. That is a lot stronger except in the rare condition of pressure being exerted at the direct angle of insertion-not likely.
Their is some difference of opinion as to whether it is advisable to use glue in conjunction with pocket hole screws. One camp states that since the screws hold so well when done in pairs, that you do not need to use glue. Additionally, that gives you the option of being able to remove the joint, in the event you need to resize for example, or disassemble for shipping. Additionally their argument states that since the pocket hole screw system holds so tight, any glue that is put in the seam will be squeezed out.
The other camp feels that for security purposes, gluing and screwing is the way to go. In the book, "Building Kitchen Cabinets" by Udo Schmidt (an excellent book by the way) the author states, "The expense of a pocket hole-drilling jig will easily be repaid in the time you save assembling face frames.
So if you are contemplating getting the Kreg jig assembly, it comes highly recommended. If you are thinking about buying the screws, I recommend you getting the coarse and fine screws in the 1 1/4" format, since they are useful for joining 3/4" wood. Additionally you should get the screw kit with a variety of different length screws for those times when you are dealing with different stock thickness.
In a recent magazine doing a run off of different manufacturers pocket hole jigs, Kreg took first place in every size jig-first place across the board. Hope this helps.

5-0 out of 5 stars Self Boaring!
These screws work really good with Kreg's drill bit with pilot hole tip (3/8" diameter). It is self boaring so it doesn't split the wood. The coarse one works for soft wood like pine and plywood. Use fine screws for hard wood. Wish these screws were a little cheaper. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Bought 2 and both failed
The concept of the tool and the strength of the glue are good, but I the glue delivery is flawed. Despite following the instructions on capping the nozzle before it cooled, it filled and hardened on two separate attempts. Yes, I bought a second one, figuring I had done something wrong. In the second version the glue never stopped flowing until it fully engulfed the nozzle and hardened.

I found this product expensive and unacceptable.

When I finally read the (very) small print on the glue cartridge itself, I was very annoyed. It tells you that once opened you should use all of the glue within four weeks. You have to open the package to read this fact. There is no mention of it on any marketing blurb, the instructions or even the cartridge's external packaging. It seems the glue is sensitive to moisture and will set in the cartridge if you don't use it pronto. If I had known this, it would have stopped the purchase dead.

The Titebond website does explain (if you track it down in the FAQ's) that there are techniques you should use to ensure it does last AS LONG AS FOUR WEEKS. Great, that means if you don't know about this, it won't even last that long.

I now realize that this is a very special-purpose tool. It might work fine for BIG jobs where you need to make lots of fast setting and strong joints. But when will that job come along? I bet if I pull it out in about twenty years when I have such a job to do, I won't be able to find the glue on the market.

1-0 out of 5 stars just plain bad!
GREAT GLUE...but you need to find, not a better way, but ANY other way to get it out hot. First tube pressurized and blew out the back, second tube (after hhours of cleaning the tube slot) wouldnt come out the tip smoothly at all. i was'nt going for three strikes...this stuff is too hot to mess arround with. wait for a better model using the same glue to arive.

3-0 out of 5 stars the good, the bad, and the broken
I have had the glue kit for 2 years. THE GOOD. It has worked great for several custom counter top applications and small, quick repair jobs. THE BAD. The problem I had was after the glue had been heated and used several times, along with being about a month old, it would not liquify and come out of gun. Half of a tube of glue is garbage. THE BROKEN. After putting an unused tube in the gun, and heating it for 30 minutes, I tried dispensing glue. For some reason the glue didn't soften enough and an ear broke off where the gun locks together. Gun is now usless.

1-0 out of 5 stars Big disappointment
The glue is fine, and if it worked I would be very happy. Unfortunately I have been unable to control the flow. On some tubes the glue pours out, which is messy and expensive. And other tubes it is so slow to get the glue out, that by the time you get enough out, it is already setting up. Very aggravating. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

If you work on your knees all day, you know how critical it is to find a pair of knee pads that not only protect your knees but also feel comfortable while doing so. Bucket Boss Air-Gel knee pads do both effectively. Designed to work like a running shoe for the knee, the Air-Gel conforms to the contours of the knee to reduce pressure and help prevent injury. A special lining moves sweat away from the skin for added comfort, while the straps curve away from the back of the knee to eliminate bunching and binding. Even after a long day's work, the result is more comfortable knees. --Carl Thress ... Read more

  • Super-resilient Air-Gel padding conforms to knee

  • Non-skid rubber cap

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
It is hard to avoid the conclusion that the people who designed these knee pads never wear knee pads. They are very disappointing, although it would be very simple to make them better. The problem is that the curve of the knee pad is very shallow, and the gel pack is a single pack, not molded to the shape of a knee. Consequently, the knee rolls around on the pad which is almost as hard on the knee as not wearing pads. If the gel pack were shaped so as to cup the knee snugly, they would be fine. As it is, they are little better than a simple pair of pads that I bought for $9.00 in the garden store.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gift for Dad who has almost everything
My Dad went into landscaping late in life and it's a job he loves. He also loves all the toys that go with it. Minus the knee pads he could never find a pair that stayed up or in place.
Or that the rocks didn't pierce the gel and for that part his knees. Every day he uses his knee pads theres a call on my machine how much he loves them. They're truly a wonderful product if they can withstand the torment of my dad. He uses them on cement to gravel. He even uses them to weed in to ease the pressure on his knees. There a great product. 2-0 out of 5 stars Not for me
Contrary to the other reviews I couldn't use these. I am used to well contoured foam filled knee pads that stay put. I was looking forward to the ultimate with the new gel backing. Sadly the gel is put in as simple pillows and sewn around the edges. This fills what appears to be a very well made and contoured shell with mounds of gell, which I kept rolling off of, with my knees ending up to the side on the sewn seams. I tried everything but couldn't correct this. Since I can't work without pads [all day] I went back to the old ones and sent the gel pads back. Reluctantly. It wouldn't take much to contour the gel to solve this and they would be wonderful. I noticed at least one of the other reviewers mentioned slipping off to the side also. Great idea, not well engineered

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent product
Very comfortable. Can work for hours on concrete floor and not have any pain. Highly recommended.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best I've seen yet
I normally spend one or two days a week installing Pergo flooring and have been desperately looking for knee pads that wouldn't do 3 things:

1. Make my legs sweat like crazy 2. Pull the hair out of the back of my knees 3. Fall half way down my shins every other minute

These knee pads fit the profile perfectly. After a 10 hour installation, I only had to adjust the pads twice. Both times they shifted to the side. The only knock I have: The pads are a little too hard and slide a bit on the Pergo. They could use more grip for leverage. Otherwise, they were perfect "off-the-shelf" kneepads for the price. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding in noise reduction and more
Put these on and turn on your shop vac and you will be amazed how much noise reduction these earmuffs provides. In addition, the ear pieces are very soft and extremely comfortable. Wear them to be near any machinery or mowing your lawn and your ears will thank you.

5-0 out of 5 stars WHAT? I can't hear you! Oh, yeah, I can't hear ANYTHING!
The Peltor H10A Hearing Protector ear muffs really do the job! I ordered them to help eliminate the annoying whine of my computer tower. You know the kind of sound...very slight, but so high-pitched it goes straight to your ear drums and drills a hole til you can't STAND it anymore!! Why am I SHOUTING!? Well, you can see how I had to do something to preserve my sanity.

I received the Peltor set and man, oh man, does it eliminate sound!! What pc whine? What pc! This headset completely elimates those little sounds that drive you crazy. I recommend it for those who have noisy neighbors or roommates, barking dogs, drippy faucets, etc. It is amazing. Loud noises can still be heard, so the headset does not interfere with normal life and is not a safety hazard. They are comfortable on the ears, are fairly lightweight, and fit very(!) snugly.

If you can't concentrate due to small, annoying noises, you would probably benefit from using this headset. The price is very reasonable, considering the benefits.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Hearing Protection
These earmuffs are extremely comfortable. They are fully adjustable and I even can wear them over a baseball cap. You won't believe how quiet it is with these on. My air compressor is the loudest in my shop. With these on it is only a whisper.

I order the best because I wanted to want to use them. I am very satisfied. ... Read more

You'll be blown away by the light that comes from this little unit-—it's amazing. It provides a bright swath of light so much bigger than what we expected. Seven super-bright, 100,000-hour light-emitting diodes LEDs mean you'll never have to replace a bulb. We love its ergonomic shape and how it feels in hand. Even with its included batteries loaded, it weighs just six ounces. A helmet clamp is available to affix it to your headgear. We think this is the perfect light for camping, for police and fire professionals, electricians, plumbers (because it's waterproof!), and homeowners for when the power fails.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Best value for a flashlight
This is the first LED light I have found that can really replace that clunky-yet-popular aluminum brand. This light has a smoother, whiter beam than a Krypton lamp (the kind pretty much all standard flashlights use). Xenon bulbs are brighter than the LED's, but Xenon flashlights only have one bulb that is overheating, delicate, expensive, and inefficient. Instead of just one or two LEDs like cheaper lights, this one uses 7 of the highest quality LEDs I have seen. The LEDs are efficient, run at a low temperature (because they produce so little wasted heat), are durable if dropped, and don't burn out.

It is comparable to a typical light that uses 2 C-cell batteries, but a smoother beam without black spots. A set of 4 AA batteries lasts for the better part of a week, as opposed to the old piece of garbage light you keep in the closet that only goes for about half of a day on 2 C batteries.

If you live in an area where you can lose power for almost a whole day (or occassionally several days in a bad storm), this is a flashlight that you can actually use. Leave it on in the middle of the room until the power comes back so you don't trip on anything. They also make a model that uses C-cells, has 10 LEDs instead of 7, and lasts twice as long.

5-0 out of 5 stars intensely modern and efficient
This slick, multi-LED-bulbed beauty is well worth the premium price (compared to other, more mundane flashlights.) It is well-designed and uses but a fraction of the battery power of its traditional Ray-oVac, etc rivals. It is a broad flood-light pattern, so hold on to your Mag-lites for the smaller, more focused jobs.

2-0 out of 5 stars Streamlight ignors defect, no way to treat customers.
I like this light, it does what I expected except one of the seven LED is out.
I made contact with Streamlight the day my light arrived yet have had NO response,
its been 7 weeks. Is it too much to ask for a product to preform as designed? I paid for a 7 LED light not a 6. All I need is a replacement bulb head.
StreamLight, I hope you see this and change your ways, with good products good service must follow. I would have ordered more but if this is an "AS-IS" product at premium prices I'll look long and hard before spending my money on any streemlight products. I tell it the way I know best and regret negitive info, I hope its just an oversight but have seen others telling the same here at Amazon.

3-0 out of 5 stars LED Failure!
Based on other reviewers' comments, I must have the only faulty example of this flashlight Streamlight has produced. The 4AA performs well indoors, but lacks the light output to be considered adequate for all-around use. Light output diminishes rapidly after only a few hours, and the manufacturer's claims of hundreds of hours of light output are exaggerated. In addition, the LED's in my light began to fail after only about five house of use. First, one LED began blinking and then went out altogether. Finally only three of the seven LED's were burning. I have returned the light to Streamlight with the hopes they would replace this faulty product.

5-0 out of 5 stars The only Flashlight youll ever need
Unless you need a beam that will light up and object 30+ feet away you will consider the battery life and effectivness of this flashlight as worth 3 times its cost. I like this one better than my maglite 4 D battery light. But the mag light is better when you need to see far ahead. Still I would highly recomment this one if you need a general duty flashlight and worry about bulb and battery repacement every 25 hours or so.
Best emergency flashlight imaginable. ... Read more
