Good but not quiet
I bought two of these because the reviewers here gave it good marks and downplayed the noise it made. This product is easy to assemble and clean. Filling the water chamber is very easy compared to other humidifiers I have used. To me it is the best feature. My main gripe is with the noise it makes. First of all, the fan is not as quiet as I had hoped. There are three fan speeds, but the lowest speed is the only one that has an acceptable sound level at night. The higher two are only useful during the day when it can be drowned out by other household noises. To make matters worse, every 2 hours or so, this humidifier makes a series of loud GULPs as the water from the tank drains into the humidifier base. Based on the reviews I read here, I didn't think it would be a problem because I am a heavy sleeper, so I was suprised that the GULPing noise wakes me up at night.

This is a fine product for the daytime, but for nighttime/sleeptime, I wish I had purchased something else.

Excellent humidifier but its not perfect.
Pros:
If you want to humidify a small to medium-sized room quietly and efficiently this is definitely the humidifier for you! I have owned other brands of humidifiers that are as loud or louder on their low speeds then the Vornado is at high speed. I found there to be No Loud Gurgling Sound from this humidifier when filling itself from the water tank. With the fan set on medium you can barley hear it & it does a fantastic job of maintaining a very comfotable humidity level.

Cons:
Removing the water tank from the humidifier is a bit awkward. Instead of placing a handle at the top of the tank (which would be easy to grab) the manufacturer opted to only put a slight bump there. You have to be careful carrying & then loading the water tank into the humidifier if it is filled to capacity; or else you might spill water all over the place. The control knob is hard to grab & turn. Anyone that has difficulty using their hands will find this feature very hard to deal with.

Over all the humidifier does what it is meant to do very well & very quietly. The problems are design flaws that Vornado can easily fix on future models if they so choose to do. I would not hesitate to recommend this humidifier to other people. Filter life is about 60 days.

Good, but noisy
I researched for a long time before I purchased a humidifier for our bedroom. I chose the Vornado for its good reviews and well-known name. While the Vornado is quiet while spewing out the cool mist, it makes an INCREDIBLY LOUD KNOCKING SOUND many times (at least 4) during the average 8-hour night while the water gulps down from the water chamber into the body of the humidifier. IF YOU ARE a deep sleeper, or not bothered by loud knocking sounds, then this is the perfect humidifier for you. However, if you are a light sleeper, like I am, keep searching or wear ear plugs. I am literally woken up in my sleep by the knocking/gulping sound; my husband, who is a very sound sleeper, was awaken one night by the sound, got out of bed, and went to the door half asleep thinking that one of our children were knocking on it. On a positive note, the water chamber is easy to fill and replace, as are the wicks. All parts are very easy to clean. And it does "humidify" the room quite nicely. It is just very loud and I would not buy another Vornado for that reason alone.

solid workhorse - 5 year warranty
A couple of years ago, I bought two humidifiers made by Bionaire. Just outside the 1-year warranty period, the power switches on BOTH of them failed. I bought this Vornado unit as a replacement based on how satisified I've been with the quality of the Vornado fans I own, and it seems to be quite solidly built and it has a five year warranty to back it up. Also, it's made in the United States, in contrast to the cheap (but not inexpensive) Chinese-made Bionaires I had before. The only complaint I can come up with is that it makes a noticible "glug" once an hour or so when it draws water from the tank. Aside from that, the fan is quiet and it's very easily refilled.

Very Happy With It
I've owned lots of bad humidifiers in the past, and I hoped to go without one for the winter, but finally I had to give in and purchase another one (The dryness was killing me). I wasn't sure which one to get, finally I decided on the Vornado, and I'm very happy with it. Better than anything I've owned before. The design is simple, and easy to maintian (other machines I've owned have lots of tiny parts that get gunked or stop working properly). This machine has only three parts, and the electrical parts have zero chance of getting dirty. The only bad thing I can say about this thing is that it's a bit to noisy on the highest setting, but it's so efficient that you'll probably never need to use this. I keep it on low and it keeps a 550 sq foot room at a recommended humidity. Enjoying my honeywell immensely
From the rating I've given this humidifer you can tell I like it an awful lot... Here are my reasons why:
1. No filter - Who wants to go out and buy humidifier filters if you don't have to?
2. Ease of cleaning - I live in an area with hard water and so crud definitely does build up on my heating element which does ... but all you really need is a little bit of patience and a little bit of a calcium/lime/rust cleaner and the crud should dissolve away (just be sure to rinse thoroughly afterwards... who wants to breathe in those chemicals anywa?)... also there's a plastic pan that also becomes discolored but that's easy to clean too - just a little vinegar and you're good to go.
3. Runs quietly... Like everyone else has said just a glug here and a glug there every now and then... if it weren't for the occasional glugs i wouldn't even know it's on...
4. Does a great job of keeping my room humidified... I keep it on high all night long and I can sleep comfortably at night and not have to worry about sinus infections or about waking up with a headache...
Ok, and admittedly there is one thing I don't like about this humidifier - the start/power button - when I first got this humidifier I couldn't tell if it had clicked on or not and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't turn on... Now I can tell when I've clicked it on, but it's the sort of thing that you get a feel for the more you use it... And once it's on, you're awfully glad it's on...
I think the things that I like about this humidifier outweigh the one thing that I don't like about it... Of all of the humidifiers that I've ever owned this one is the best one so far...

Soothing Relief, maybe...
I have never owned a humidifier before, and this is my first one. I suffer from terrible sinus pains during the winter! Some of my symptoms are throbbing headaches, with pains around my temples, the area under my eyes, and the forehead. I also have an occasional stuffy nose accompanied with some mucus in my throat. I read an article in a magazine, which stated that a humidifier helps reduce sinus pains, pains that are usually caused by dry indoor air. So I decided to surf Amazon.com to find the right humidifier.

Many of the other humidifiers that are offered on Amazon.com are cool-air humidifiers. This humidifier is a warm-moisture humidifier, which is great during the winter. Another thing that attracted me to this humidifier was the fact that it didn't require any filters. I only paid a one time fee of $39.99 for this humidifier. Here are a list of features for this humidifier:

- Adjustable humidistat automatically maintains moisture level selected.
- Auto shut-off at desired humidity or when tank is empty.
- Two moisture output settings.
- Power, desired humidity, and refill lights.
- Easy view clear tank.
- Dual tank handles - one to fill and one to carry.
- Easy clean removable tray and dishwasher safe medicine cup.

On the high setting, the humidifier does not sound loud. The sound is similar to that of hot water simmering in a pan over the stove. On the low setting, it is virtually impossible to hear. You will hear an occasional gurgle of the water as the humidifier sucks in some water.

The humidifier also seems pretty easy to clean. The manual suggests a cleaning every week with some vinegar and a teaspoon of bleach. It is not that difficult. Also, I especially liked the medicine cup feature. It is a small cup that is placed over the opening of where the steam comes out. You can go to your local pharmacy and purchase some "Vicks Vapo Rub" in a liquid form for humidifiers and place a little in this cup. The steam will fill the air with the medicine, clearing up your sinuses instantly.

As far as the humidifier doing its job and helping to reduce my pains, I gave it 4 stars. The humidifier does seem to help, however not as advertised. They claim that this humidifier is for medium to large rooms. I am using this humidifier in my bedroom ( a medium room). I placed the humidifier about 8ft. away from my bed the first time I used it. It did absolutely nothing for me. Now I place it right next to my bed, and it seems to work. Don't expect this thing to work wonders in a medium or large room. You're going to have to put this thing right next to you if you want it to work!

The best when it works, but......
It only lasts one winter. The warranty doesn't help much. I am going to ship it back, but it cost another 20 dallar shipping fee. I don't know what to do if it breaks again...

3 gallon water dissapears in about 12 hours when it's on full blast and it's amazing where it's all gone. I would've imagined it would make floor and furniture spaces humid and wet. but no. it's almost hardly noticeable but definitely helps my sinus to breath better. I only use brita filtered water. so I don't have to clean up mineral deposit build up on the heating element. Yeah.. material used is definitely the cheapest plastic available on the planet. It probably won't last. but then it's 32 bucks to begin with so I'm not complaining. just another gadget from disaposable age.

I'm thinking about getting another one to really feel the humid.

Not so great...
I have had this sweeper for several months and like others, it's main purpose was to keep my kitchen floor, laundry room, and basement floors clean. Well, it does pick up larger debris best, but when you go for picking up hair, dust and dirt, it blows a lot of it around, not to mention, I noticed that the entire sweeper itself becomes COVERED in dust. Don't buy this sweeper if tou expect it to "suck" things up. It provides NO suction but a motorized brush roll that spins and rolls things up into the dust cup. I recommend this for occasional use for spills like cereal, rice, etc. As far as being a tool to "clean" your floors, you will be quite disappointed. In fact I only use this now to clean my laundry room area and basement floors to pick up debris so it doesn't get tracked in my upstairs.

only partially pleased
I have had the unit now for about 4 months.I am disappointed by the lack of suction that causes the dirt to eject backwards from the unit.I puchased the unit for my kitchen and laundry area.I have three cats and the litter box is in this area.I find that the sweeper works well for larger debris like cheerios from the kids but litter take a few extra passes.It is not the best at the corners either.However, the machine does make a short order of sweeping.

Not happy with this sweeper
Pros:Lite-weight, easy to use, long battery life.

Cons:Cat hair gets wrapped up into the coils and is difficult to clean out.Does not pick up all of the dirt and hair.Spits some of the dirt back out when you pull it backwards.When you press the off button, dirt comes out of it.I will not buy this sweeper again.

NEVER SWEEP AGAIN ! ! !
I have tile and hardwood floors, and I just walk the Bissell PerfectSweep around my house (usually while I'm blabbing on the phone) and it SWEEPS UP EVERYTHING. No more bending! No more dust flying everywhere! It has little round sweepers on the sides that get right up to the edge of the floor by the wall. It's lightweight and the noise level is about the same as an electric pencil sharpener. I love it! Keep in mind that this product is NOT a vacuum, so don't get it for pile carpeting.

This machine was so easy to assemble and even easier to use! It did an excellent job picking up dirt and pet hair from my floor. I have a cat snd this picks up her hair and litter so easily. Worked fine for my two pregnancies
I had this glider throughout the pregnancies and births of both my children. It was comfortable, nothing broke, and it was a decent match for our black leather living room furniture.We enjoyed it enough that this year we passed it along to our favorite in-laws for use when they have a child.At the time, it offered an inexpensive alternative to more expensive wooden rockers, as a rocker was a piece of furniture I knew we wouldn't keep long term.

Two Broken!
I had the same problem as reviewer K. Dejong below; the weld on two of these chairs broke after a few months of use.The chair is manufactured in China, and there is no fix or replaceable part for this problem.Unless you only need a theatre prop, DO NOT BUY THIS CHAIR!

Broken
I bought this item with a gift certificate from my baby shower.We had it for about a month when the welding that holds the base to the chair broke.It is going to cost us more to have it fixed then it would to buy a whole new chair.Keep in mind that me and my husband are not large people and there is no reason for this to have happened.I do not recommend this product; although it was very comfy and looked nice in our home...It is just not worth it!!! ... Nostalgic; a good buy & great looking
I, like most everyone else, bought this b/c it reminded me of one my grandmother had.It was pretty easy for me to assemble and seems quiet sturdy! I love the red color and the memories it brings back when I walk through my kitchen.I'll probably have to buy another one so the kids will both have one of their own.

Nice addition to my kitchen/dining
I was given this stool as a gift (fully assembled).It is quite heavy so it is not something I would use as a utility chair.On the other hand It's weight and sturdiness are perfect to allow my 2 year old son to help me in the kitchen then pull him to the dining room table for dinner (I actually got rid of our highchair.)SO if you have a purpose and need for it - then go for it - otherwise find something else. Oh the way the stairs retracted is of poor design - but they work.

I love my retro chair / step stool!
My husband and I had no problems putting this chair together. It is quite sturdy. My young grandsons enjoy using it as much as I do. The track system for the steps does not stay in place, however this is a minor problem for me. I looked everywhere for one of these chairs and I was very pleased to find it. The red color is fun and cheery. I have back pain and this chair makes it much less painful to work in the kitchen for long periods of time.

Not perfect, but still a good buy
I bought this because my grandparents had a similar stool when I was growing up. Although the quality of this one isn't as good as the old one, it still serves its purpose in my kitchen. I've also gotten many compliments on it. All-in-all, I am quite satisfied with my purchase. (It was difficult to assemble with the -tools- included.)

Not what it seems
I selected this chair over the white chair/step stool, also offered through Target, because it looked sturdier. However, the parts are so poorly constructed that they do not fit together well, and there is a significant wobble to the legs. The sliding mechanism for the steps is primitive and constantly derails. I bought this stool as a perch for my 2-year old daughter to watch me work in the kitchen, but it is so unstable that I am afraid to let her climb on it.
Also, while the assembly instructions are easy to follow, either the screws and/or the accompanying Allen wrench are too flimsy. I could not tighten the screws properly before the wrench was completely stripped. ... Read more

Seemed Like A Good Idea At the Time
Having replaced most of the carpet in our house with tile, we wanted a vacuum that would do well on hard floors, and the salesman at the vacuum store recommended this one. We've had it a bit over a year, and are now looking for something else.

Pros:
* It's reasonably lightweight
* The suction is better than you might expect from a stick vac
* The "Flex-edge" nozzle is good for getting into corners and tight spots (but needs to be more flexible)
* Hose attachment is easy to use
* Can lie very close to the floor, making for easy access under some furniture

Cons:
* The bagless system is a royal pain. Emptying the dirt canister and cleaning the filter are MESSY jobs, and doing so inside the house can leave you with almost as much dirt and debris on the floor and in the air as before you vacuumed
* The power cord is too short
* The whole unit tips over very easily. It can't stand on its own, but there is nothing from which to hang it either
* The wheels come off easily. They can be popped right back on, but they come off repeatedly
* The on/off switch is in an inconvenient, awkward location
* The vents located at the front of the unit blow debris EVERYWHERE. Just as you head toward that dust bunny, the front vents will blow it up into the air or elsewhere in the room.

I cannot recommend this unit. My advice: keep looking.

Broke into pieces!
This vacuum worked great for about a year and then literally broke into two pieces.

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT
I thought of titling my review "This vacuum cleaner sucks," but then I realized that would be a lie, because, in fact, this vacuum doesn't suck anything. More appropriate title:

"THIS PRODUCT BLOWS."

And I mean that literally. The exhaust fan from the unit blast to smithereens anything you might think of vacuuming before you can get there.

Other horrific product defects:

- The unit does not stand up on its own.
- The hose attachment is so short that you have to hold the unit in one hand, and the hose in the other, meanwhile trying not to blow your dirt pile into the air with the exhaust vents.
- The suction is too weak to work well on carpet.
- The whole unit is flimsy and cheaply constructed. I estimate it will completely fall apart in a year.

In summary:

Do not, under any circumstances buy this product. If I could have given it negative stars, I would have. One star is too many for this embarrassingly ineffective vacuum cleaner.

Horrible Horrible Horrible
I bought this broom vac hoping to take care of my small apartment in manhattan without having to store a huge unit. I have owned other dirt devils and was very happy. This one is HORRIBLE. Even on hardwood floors it spits the dust out all over the place. And on Rugs? FORGET IT. It is really really bad. And I only have small pile rugs that aren't plush at all.

Skip this one and get another. I will have to now.

I brought this Vac a couple of days back and must say its very effective. I use it on hardwood floor and on doormats the results are very good. Works fine as a steam cleaner but not that great as a mop
I have used this steam mop cleaner on my floor several times now.Granted it does a good job but the sponge obviously gets dirty quickly and there seems to be no way to replace it.It worked well on my carpet for cleaning some yogurt my daughter had dropped several days earlier and also curry.I think it is a bit expensive for the work it does.I wish it had a wider path so I wouldn't have to spend ages cleaning the floor.Also extra sponges and where to get them would be good.Hoover.com doesn't seem to have any advice.It would be nice if Hoover would make a cheaper version of the spinbrush but this is the poor man's solution really.

It is non-toxic and with kids around and several allergies, that's great.

I've given it 3 stars because it wants to be a jack of all trades and doesn't quite acomplish it.

What a piece of JUNK!
I bought this item thinking i would be able to clean grease and mildew with much more ease. The first time I tried to clean my tea kettle, which gets greasy from sitting on the stove, the steamer did NOTHING. Same with the grease on my stove-top. Then I pre-treated the area with a concentrated cleaner, Simple Green, for about 15 mintues and went back at the grease areas with the steamer. NOTHING. Same story in the bathroom. I couldn't even remove surface mildew and soap scum from the shower...mildew/soap scum that would easily be scrubbed off with a little bit of cleanser and a scrub-pad.

I am totally bummed since I was hoping to cut down on the amount of elbow grease and chemicals needed for cleaning my house.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS PIECE OF JUNK. I spent $60 on it a month ago and now it's going for $50. :|

Me Steamed..and the Hoover DELUXE Hand/Mop Steam Cleaner is the reason.
I don't know about you people ..but I like to leave cleaning till there is some discussion as to WHEN life will spontaneously form in the black tar like substance around the toilet base...or the Girl friend threatens to leave.Either way..time to get cheap and lazy.

Enter the hoover hand held DELUXE mop ..
Point this puppy at anything even looking like a genetically mutant fungus,turn the STEAM all the way up, and..BAM..whatever "IT" was iscooked, disolved , blown away..and left floating in water for a quick spounge up.. I suspect I could make a mean soup with the liquid goo in the spounge..but thats another review.

Staying on point ..it s not all glory..It is a little awkward in tight spaces..gets a little heavy...stops spewing steam at extreme angles..(just TURN UP the steam,keep the water topped up !!!)...The Brushes seem cheap ...the triangle brush smells funny when heated with the steam..

Overall.. For cheap...I did not have to get mad..I got Steamed .. AND the G/f stayed... YAAAY!!..now..how to make steamed milk with it..hmmmm

Decent steam cleaner
After using this item to clean the kitchen and bathroom I would have to say it works pretty much as advertised. The unit heats up incredibly fast and the steam is scalding hot at close range, but cools down quickly even 6 inches away.

It liquified decade old grease, dirt, dust, that strong cleaners had difficulty removing. It cut through soap scum on glass without a problem, however for whatever reason it did not cut through the same scum on the tub.

This unit is good to use as a handheld device for grills, stoves, oven, toilet, counters, car wheels, etc.

When trying to steam clean floors, carpets, or the like the small water tank, cost of replacement attachments, and lack of full size power limits it's usefullnes in these applications.

The system does act strange in that you have to hold it at certain angles to generate greater amounts of steam on lower settings, but you can crank up the pressure to compensate.

These types of devices are really the way to go for general cleaning applications. Scalding hot steam works well and you avoid exposing yourself to harsh chemicals, fumes, and toxins.

Disappointed.....Major!
The wife wanted a handheld steam cleaner to get to the tight, tough to reach spots and also to help sterilize the baby's toys, etc.We tried the parent's cleaner from Shark and were thrilled with the results, but didn't want to put a ton of money into one, so we figured a brand name company like Hoover would have a great product.Boy, were we wrong.Upon initial inspection, the cleaner looks really impressive.Upon use, my opinion changed fast.The cleaner "heats" really fast, but it never really gets hot (I was able to hold my hand 3 inches from the nozzle and it only felt warm).The steam runs continuously, there is no way to start/stop the steam without turning the unit off and then back on and waiting for it to warm back up (although you can vary the amount of steam).There is really no force/pressure behind the steam coming out either (it pretty much just gets stuff wet).The "jet" nozzle only points downward also, making it near impossible to get in between tight spots or next to the floor.There could be a saving grace somewhere with this machine, but after an hour of refilling the tank, turning the machine on & off, waiting for it to heat, and getting cramps from twisting/bending to get this huge cleaner into tight spots, we promptly packaged it back up and returned it to Amazon without even trying any other attachments because we were so disappointed (without even giving it a second thought).Guess we will have to fork out the extra money to get one that really works as advertised. ... Does A Good Job
I received my Hoover S2551 Quick Broom in 5 business days from my order, which was excellent considering it was free shipping. It was easy to put together, and I used it right away. It did a good job of picking up dirt, dog hairs, pine needles, and miscellaneous bits from both my hard floors and carpeting. You should not expect this vac. to do the job of a $200 carpet vacuum but is a good choice for everyday quick pickups. My only criticism is the hard little wheels which seem to be the norm for this type of vac. I know they are scratching my wood floors and I use them very carefully on these floors. Otherwise, a good little vac.

It SAYS it's for floors
Some people are crying about this vacuum not doing a good job on carpet. It's nor FOR carpet. Also, some were griping about the nozzle falling off in use. I had the same problem, took it to a local Hoover dealer, and come to find out it was missing two screws that securely attach the nozzle to the machine. Voila! it works like a charm. Hoover apparently had a "memory lapse" and didn't ship the screws with the machine.

Useful only on floors
If you are planning to use this quick broom on carpets, it won't do a good job,it is only suitable for floors.

Sucks only figuratively.
I've owned a Quik-Broom encore for almost a year. Never once have I used it that I haven't been on my hands and knees using the hose attachment in the vain hope of picking up a piece of lint or crumb. Purchase this vacuum only if you don't care about cleanliness; it will never help you achieve it.
