We did a double-take when we saw the price on this incredible set of tools. It’s everything you need for home do-it-yourself projects and woodworking, but Delta’s quality makes us think even the contractor couldn’t go too far wrong with this set as a back-up. You could build a deck or frame a room with nothing but the tools in this kit and a level (which, if anyone from Delta is reading this, would be the perfect addition). Applause to Delta for wrapping each tool handle in a nice ergonomic grip material. Aside from that, here’s what we particularly like about each tool: The circular saw is easy to maneuver, not cumbersome and clunky like others we’ve handled. There’s a nice, clear line of sight at the cutline, and kudos to Delta for including a carbide blade rather than high-speed steel—-a nice touch. The pitch of the front handle gave us a great, secure grip. The jigsaw blade changes easily, the trigger’s comfortable and there’s plenty of power. The cordless sander feels great in hand, and we can imagine the projects we could take that to without dragging an extension cord. The 24-position clutch drill, which will probably be the most-used tool of the bunch, has great balance and a comfortable grip. It’s relatively compact, making it perfect for those with smaller hands. Convenient little bit holders right on board, too. The flashlight’s a fine little worker, but there are no outstanding features we could see. But the brad nailer, for us, is the cream of this crop. BEST CORDLESS TOOL SELECTION EVER!
As you may know I am a tool columnist for two boat-building magazines. I have now been using this excellent tool set for over three months reviewing it. It offers the widest selection of important tools of any cordless set I have ever seen. A person could buy this set of tools and with a few other necessary measuring tools completely build a boat. There are SS brads on the market so corrosion would not be a problem.

The most exciting tool is the brad gun in this set. It can use brads from 5/8" of an inch on up to 1 ¼" and is very reliable shot after shot. The tools in this set form a natural progression to a finished product. They are well thought out and each tool works very well. I am no entry-level wood worker and I find this set to be remarkable. Delta has finally done something no other cordless tool manufacturer has thought of and this is their very first cordless set! BRAVO!

The only way they could have topped this set is to include a small shop vacuum. Hopefully other companies are taking notes. This is a great cordless tool set for anyone with ability.

Great Buy!
I just recieved this pack for christmas and for the price you can't go wrong. The only other combo packs in this price range are B&D, Ryobi, and some other "house" brands. The Drill is a comprable 18v gun, the trim saw seems to have ample power and the jig saw cuts fairly smooth for such a bargain priced set. The brad nailer was sort of disapointing at least when using the 1-1/4" brads that came with it, I'm still not sure when I will find a use for a cordless palm sander. All in all the gun, saws, and the flash light are a great deal for under $300, the brad nailer and sander could have been left out and this set would still have been a very good buy. I haven't owned this set long enough to vouch for it's reliabilty but seeing how Delta and Porter Cable are one in the same I am fairly confident that I will enjoy this set for some time to come. ... I've had this combo set for 3 weeks it's done everything I've ask it to do.there both excellent tools.I would'nt want to use the drill for reguler stuff , but when you need a heavy duty drill this is the baby.the sawsall is just amazing,it's faster then my sawsalls that i have to plug in 'but bring plenty of battery's this bad boy run's out before the fun really get's started. my only concern is the blade clamp on the sawsall is plastic,but we'll have to see. The price on this site is great.

Beware of the case
I was shocked when I got this combo kit. I was under the impression that all 6 tools in the combo kit would fit in the case. This was not the case. What I got was a standard 4 tool combo kit with a grinder and an angle drill in a seperate cardboard box. There is no case of any kind for the angle drill or the grinder. The drill I could live with but the grinder has 2 seperate guards, a wrench and the different grinding & cutting wheels. I think they should make it clear that there is no storage for those tools. As for the tools they are what you would expect from Dewalt

Low Weight, High torque, small size
To me, whether a drill is 14.4v or 18v is immaterial. What counts is size, weight and torque. How it is achieved is irrelevant. That being said, I whittled my choices down to the 15.6 Panasonic and this compact 18v DeWalt. The Panasonic looks like a winner, but reviews on this site showed too many examples of early battery death (and charger issues) for me. That left the Dewalt, I ordered it, I'm happy.
DeWalt states 4.5lbs, usually manufacturers lie so I weighed it - 4lbs 6.5oz! That's LESS than advertised. Size wise, it's tiny versus my old Craftsman 18v drill, it's about the size of a large 12volt drill but has gobs of torque. Unlike the new 3 speed DEwalt's, the clutch DOES work on both settings (it's "only" a 2 speed box). Presumably, the batteries won't last as long as the XRP Dewalt's since they're a bit smaller but to me that's a compromise worth taking - weight and size is everything in a cordless drill.

Best Drill ever
The compact design is great gets into areas that I couldn't with my 16.4 volt Craftsman. I've put my Craftsman out to pasture. It's not even in the same league as the DeWalt. Best drill I've had no complaints in any area of this drill.

good tool, but batteries are weak
this is a good, solid and reliable drill, can handle rough use and doesnt break. easy to adjust clutch and quick change chuck. only problem is the batteries dont run long even when fully charged, especially when cold. need longer life batteries, get the XRP batteries.

AMAZING
My husband has used a black & decker drill for several years and has "served him well" but it always took forever to complete a job because it was so weak. Well now he flies through projects and even after it fell off a 15ft roof. The battery fell out-- he popped it back in and it has worked like a charm.

Dewalts cordless drill
This is an excellent drill for contractors because of it power, the design of the handle to apply more presssure (Nessasary for concrete drilling or driving screws into hard items.)The runtime and torque are excellent. My only complaints are the cheap plastic feel of the drill casing. The casing is too weak to handle its torque. The tabs on the batteries wear out too easily.
Dewalt is aware of this problem but I believe they wont change the battery mounts due to the compatablity issue with older cordless units. ... Read more

DeWalt jig saw/drill combo
I have never used this, but I think that a cordless jig saw would be a lot better than a cordless circular saw because; (a) the amps (not amp hours) would be a lot closer to a corded jig saw than a cordless circular saw in relation to a corded one; (b)the jig saw would cut metal and; (c)the amp hours (2.4) would probably keep this baby running for a long time. I have tried a 24volt Bosch and the blade would jam fairly easily if the saw was twisted in the cut. The jig saw won't do that. ... Read more
