4-0 out of 5 stars Dewalt cordless light-flexable neck
I sure do like this light. Light is bright, and lasts a pretty good long time. The only thing that I didn't like about it is that if you set it down on the battery, and raise the lamp up and point it down, it becomes unbalanced. but...that doesn't hinder my using it...love the light.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Handy Work Light
I have used this flashlight for about one year and it has become alost the only flashlight I use. In Cabinets it illuminates the entire space, no fumbling to re-aim or balance or juggle. In crawl spaces you can set it up and work in a wide area without having to fool with the light, like a portable flood light. This and my LED headlight are all I need anymore. Great tool, and no worries about having fresh batteries!

3-0 out of 5 stars A very expensive flashlight
Works as advertised, the only downside is that I hate to let my kids use it as the cost of the batteries make for a VERY expensive flashlight. ... Read more

This is easily one of the most powerful hammer drills on the market, packing 500 inch-pounds of torque and tackling the largest holes and heaviest screws. Whether you're going into studs or concrete, you'll appreciate the patented three-speed transmission that delivers an amazing 2,000 rpm at its max. In hammerdrill mode, get ready to be impressed with the speed you drill into concrete and other masonry at 34,000 blows per minute. Every inch of this tool is quality, from the ½-inch metal ratcheting chuck and its carbide jaws to the super-comfortable grip and beefy extended-life XRP 18-volt battery. Balance in hand is awesome, and the 360-degree auxiliary handle adjusts easily to just the right position. Similarly, the impact driver is incredibly powerful for its size, making short work of everything we challenged it with. Kickback is minimal. And like the hammerdrill in this sweet package deal, it's all quality: rugged magnesium gear case, all-metal transmission and quick-release chuck, grippy wrap-around rubber molding for super control. And yeah, we admit it, we love the contractor's bag, too.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Battery charger issue
I recently purchased this blower and the separate ...battery you need, but have yet to use it because I have had trouble finding an 18v battery charger. Amazon doesn't have one as a separate product, nor [do local stores](18 volt chargers are rare items, I am told). I wound up ordering a new Makita 18 volt 1/2" drill kit with two batteries and a charger for about $209 (not much more than the price of two batteries). A reconditioned drill kit would be even better, as recommended in another review here, but when I looked Amazon no longer carried this item.

Point is, think about how you are going to buy your batteries (cheaper in a kit) and where you will get a charger if not in a kit.

I give it 5 stars because I assume it is a great product, and the review system requires a stars to be selected.

4-0 out of 5 stars A convenient light duty blower.
I bought this blower because I wanted to clean off my driveway without the hassle of plugging in my larger electric blower. I've owned it for about a year now.

The first thing that you notice about this blower is that it's much smaller than it looks in the photos. It's closer in size to your hand saw than it is to a standard leaf blower.

This has it's advantages and disadvantages. It's easy to set up, just twist the nozzle onto the front and plug the battery in the handle and you're ready to go. If you have a small outdoor job like blowing leaves or twigs off your front porch it works great. But being physically smaller in size than other blowers you don't move nearly the volume of air as a full size blower and sometimes you need to bend over and "push" the debris around with the air stream. The trigger style variable speed switch is great in that it allows you to dust off items that wouldn't survive a more powerful blast. It would be great for jobs like blowing sawdust out of your shop area as you could lightly dust the shelves and then sweep the floors full blast.

Even with an 18 volt battery the Makita doesn't have enough power to do the big jobs or work well on grassy surfaces. Even a large driveway would be a strain as it would require too much bending over and you would probably run out of power before you were done.

This blower is for hard surfaces and small jobs. In this role it is a mini powerhouse. It's build quality is high and it is light weight. It's designed for those "in between" size jobs.

It might even make a good blow dryer for a wet dog.

In summary, do NOT purchase this blower for regular yard work. Buy a full size.

DO purchase this blower for jobs of convenience and you will enjoy it. It is well built and nice to have when you're willing to start a five minute job but not a 20 minute one. :^)

Update: Dec 5, 2002 This morning I used the blower to blow off the powder snow that fell on my vehicle overnight. It took less than a minute and I didn't get my hands snowy just before I had to leave for work. Because you can whip this blower out quickly, there are a lot of different things that you can use it for that you might not think of otherwise.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little toy !!!
This Makita blower is fantastic. It has a variable speed switch that sets the blower from low to high. Don't get me wrong, you can't blow a whole yard clean, etc...I would recommend the 18 volt because you will get about 12 minutes of full blower time with it before you have to re-charge the battery. The lower voltage models will give you less time before the battery runs out. It is rather expensive ..,, but it is worth every penny. I use it to blow the bed of my pick-up truck clean and to blow the debris out of our gardens. It also has a suction feature for quick vacuum jobs, etc..., and a bag to hold the debris in. Let's just say, it gets small jobs done fast !!! This little gem is environmentally friendly, not too noisy and there are no electric cords to worry about. It surpasses broom clean-up by 101% !!! Once again Makita proves to be the best !!!

5-0 out of 5 stars A much better blower than expected
I read the only previously written review before I purchased this blower and I almost didn't buy it. However, it seemed to be the best available alternative. I was very happy that I did.
I use it around the patio and pool and it works very well. You'll need a battery and charger. Hint: buy the factory reconditioned 18 volt 1/2 inch drill for only a few dollars more
than the battery and charger. You'll get the drill, a charger and two batteries.

1-0 out of 5 stars Weak -- at best
This "tool" comes without a battery or charger. What's more, there appears to be no way to order a battery for it.

Got sawdust on a workbench? This thing would *probably* work okay.

Got leaves in your front yard? Get a real tool instead. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Powerful little monster
Big fan of panasonic cordless tools.. this is my 3rd. I was having a problem countersinking big screws into hardwood or cement board so based on some advice picked up this tool.. It took over where my very powerful 15.6 left off.. taking 3" screws that were stripped and wouldn't go in and countersinking them no problemo... the impact nature makes it less likely to break screws like the 15.6 does occasionally... I actually put a 3" screw about 1" countersunk into a FIR stud just testing out the capabilities. Quite literally it will keep driving most screws 'til you let go of the trigger, so better use a dimple bit on softer material.

caveat: i had a few minutes of buyers remorse when i first used it as it is QUITE loud.. make no mistake when this is working your house is 'under construction'.. however you do get quite used to it, it's definiately worse as a bystander.

I would rate it 4 1/2 stars for the one major problem: non standard chuck... argh on panasonic.. why why why? the solution to fix it is to put a slug of 1/4 hex cut off an old bit shank into the chuck or perhaps a couple #4 hex nuts (if that's what is 1/4"). .makes for easier removal if necessary... anyhow they did it so the double-headed bit that comes with fits nicer but makes NORMAL quick bits jam... and i have yet to find any bits whatsover including from panasonic that match the groove for the double headed quick bit that comes with.

The charger that comes with is awesome because it works up to 18V batts... i can bring one charger and all my tools someplace and can charge my drill, my impact or my saw no need for 3 chargers.

Until the torque load gets high enough it operates just like a drill, so small bits and small screws work great just like your drill and pretty much silent.

I'm thrilled with the driver it's possibly my favorite tool.. too bad it needs a hack to fix it, but with the fix it's flawless. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't like this one at all
I'm a contractor. Makita is my favorite tools. I had their 9v cordless drill for 10 years now. But I'm not happy with this tool at all. I bought for trim work, but it hasn't worked very well for anything but maybe drywall. The cordless 5 3/8 & 5 1/2 saws with a fine tooth blade blows this away. The one is buried alomg with other mistakes I bought over the years. Way over priced.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Mean Little Monster
If you do a lot of low-level home improvement, this is a great saw!

I mostly do panel work, trim, and small woodworking. Usually, a full-size circular saw is too cumbersome, and the flimsy blade of a jigsaw makes it hard to maintain a consistent line.

This little monster cuts through ANYTHING, and the carbide blade stays sharp and comes back for more. It's easy to get a clean, straight cut on everything from 1/2" plywood to delicate formica. Even a bevelled edge comes out nice.

The only downside is a short life-span on the battery's charge. But all in all a handy and dependable saw. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Frustrated Porter Cable Fan
I'm a contractor, and I've been a loyal Porter Cable customer for a long time. I own many P/C tools. I purchased this 12v drill as a replacement for a DeWalt 18v drill that I felt was too heavy and cumbersome for all-day use. Now I'm sorry I sold the DeWalt. This 12v has caused many frustrating moments on the job site...poor battery life, faulty keyless chuck (very annoying), and a 2-speed gear switch that sometimes slips into neutral if you're not careful where you grip the drill. I just can't recommend this drill, which is unfortunate for such a Porter Cable fan.

3-0 out of 5 stars Be Careful with the Batteries
This is a super driver/ flashlight combo with the exception of two problems. The chuck is difficult to tighten on drill bits for the really tough jobs. And the batteries, if one should begin to leak (noticed by blue color on the contacts) had better be disposed of promptly. It will spread like cancer to the charger, then to the other battery and components. My entire system had to be disposed of due to a little blue color that I didn't think was a problem until too late.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
Having purchased other Porter Cable products in the past, I had high expectations for this tool. I previously worked with a Makita 9.6 volt unit and wanted to upgrade to a 12 volt product. After six months of fairly light use, my first unit broke at the stem beneath the keyless chuck (above the torque adjustment). A local retail outlet replaced the tool with a new unit, but the battery failed after a few months on the replacement unit. I have concerns about overall manufacturer quality, however, the tool does perform well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product
I did a lot of research on cordless drills and everything pointed to Porter-Cable as the drill to buy. It has performed flawlessly. It has plenty of power to drill, and it is easy to swap out the bits really fast. I probably would have preferred the 14.4V, but I can honestly say that the 12V does the job. Mine also came with an excellent flashlight, and the dual batteries are a must. The 1 hour charge time is fantastic! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Old battery lasted 7 years
One of the best things to mention about this screwdriver is the fact that you can't possibly over-tighten (and possibly break something) if you hold it with a soft grip. I have owned one of these since 1994 and just now have had to replace the batteries. I have two batteries to insure that the screwdriver is always ready to use. I bought a cordless drill and found that I could not control the force of the driver nearly as well as the Skil-Twist.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great product
I have used this model Skil screwdriver since 1996, and find it superior to other brand screwdrivers I've used. The Flexicharge feature is great, since you can charge one battery while using another. All around good performance at a good price, I recommend it highly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great equipment
I purchased this drill because it has a on-board bit holder. I have found no other drill that has this feature. This is not mentioned in any of the other reviews.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best tool on the shelf
I've owned a 2211 for over ten years and it's been nearly indestructable until a couple of days ago. It's fallen off ladders, been stepped on, kicked and generally abused throughout its lifetime. After giving it a proper burial, I'm buying another. I was really pleased to find out that Skil still makes the same model. Can't say that about many tools in this price range.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little driver
I've had this driver for about 12 years now. The battery charger(dual battery) finally died. I looked for a replacement online, finally ended up at my local Ace Hardware store. They were able to get me a new charger and two new battery's in three days. Make sure you take the part number with you when ordering as Skil makes a couple of variations of this driver. I use this driver for everything, I even have pin drill bits with the octagon shank that fit the driver. With it's inline design you can drive screws perfectly straight easily and it has sufficient power to drive em home in most material. It is the only driver that I presently own and I have yet to regret not having something heavier. As mentioned in another review you wont twist the heads off screws with it, and it allows you a good "feel" when you are using small brass or copper screws. I thought it was a good buy when I bought it and I still do. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Think of amps as the battery's gas tank: the greater the amps, the longer the tool's run time. With the new MForce line of cordless tools, Makita has bumped their ultracompact NiMH batteries up to 2.6 amps, delivering a markedly longer run time per charge. The tool is compact and well balanced, too, thanks in part to Makita's newly designed two-piece motor that allows for a smaller 12-volt unit that still cranks out an impressive 310 inch-pounds of torque. The unit's all-metal gear transmission, featuring a planetary gear system, also takes up a minimum of space, and does a good job delivering smooth power. The MForce line also features a new Shift Lock drive system that locks out the clutch, shifting from driver to drill mode in a way that will never slip. Another plus is the addition of a ratcheting chuck that you twist to tighten, a satisfying mechanism that really locks a bit in place. The 1/2-inch chuck on this model handles larger bits, making it a smart choice for drilling in wood. Best of all, the drill feels great in the hand: the balance is right and the handle has a rubberized grip, a new feature to Makita drills and one an all-day user will surely appreciate. This kit includes two 12-volt, 2.6 amp NiMH batteries, a multivoltage charger, and a carrying case. --Jon Groebner ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A MUST for hobbyists, home remodellers, contractors
Firstly, not manner of the manufacturer's plastic tool cases are worth a crap. Slots don't hold the parts. But this kit, a whole different story. Whether you open the kit inverted or correctly (label up), each tool remains in its appropriate slot. Secondly, everything you could ask for in reference to your cordless is contained within this impressive kit. Whether your gun is Porter Cable, DeWalt, Makita, Hitachi... you will not find a better kit for the price. This product is well worth owning.

2-0 out of 5 stars Perhaps it's yellow because it's a lemon
I would have given this product 4 or 5 stars until I read a certain review on this site. I was very happy with the performance of my DW904 12-Volt until it went dead on me a week ago. Just as this reviewer I speak of said, "Oh I'll just replace the bulb", but that didn't do it. Thinking that maybe the switch went bad I took the light apart and bypassed the switch but still no light. I promptly threw it in the trash in disgust because I really hadn't used it that much and I NEVER abused it. Even so I planned on buying another DW904 thinking that mine must have had a defect, but now after reading that another person has had the same problem with his, forget it. I'll probably order a Milwaukee flashlight for I had recently purchased their cordless 14.4 to replace the noisy 12 volt Dewalt I have. (The one that the flashlight came with)

3-0 out of 5 stars Fits Black & Decker Also
This is a cleverly designed and well built product which will make a valuable addition to your tool box, PROVIDED you already have a couple DeWalt or B&D 12v batteries (they are interchangeable). It would not make sense to buy a separate battery for it, as they cost about 2x as much as the light itself. These lights are also made for other voltages, including 9.6 and 14.4 v.

I compared this light to a 2-D cell Magnalite which weighs about the same (1.5 lbs w/battery.) As one would expect given the difference in voltage (12v vs. 3v), the DeWalt appeared to be several times as bright as the Magnalite and has a beam 3-4x as wide.

I only gave the light three stars because (1)It is overpriced, even w/ Amazon's discount (2) Replacement bulbs are also expensive, although they do include a spare, and (3) You cannot focus the beam - a wider "flood" beam would be preferable to the more intense spot for many applications.

If all you want is a general-purpose lantern, there are several 6v dry cell units available which represent better value. However, this one will utilize your existing batteries & charger, and with its solid base and tilting capability can be configured to illuminate the typical work site better than most of its competitors.

5-0 out of 5 stars BRIGHT AS HECK! AWESOME!
If you are sick of constantly buying batteries, and never having a flashlight handy, buy this gem. It's awesome, especially if you already have sunk a few hundred into other dewalt products and wish you could use those batteries for something else! It's bright and takes a beating!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent flashlight
DeWalt is known for great power tools, and this flashlight is no exception. It is powered by the same 12-volt rechargeable battery pack that powers other tools in the 12-volt cordless series. The light is extremely bright, and it swivels from straight to angled position. Because it's pretty heavy with the battery pack, it sits solidly in position if you set it down. It's not economical to buy just the light if you don't have, or aren't planning to buy, other DeWalt 12-volt cordless items, because the battery pack and charger are pricey when bought by themselves. But most of the tools in the series come with an extra battery pack and a charger.

3-0 out of 5 stars DeWalt DW904 Flashlight
The DW904 can be an excellent accessory to have, but I much prefer the Dewalt flexible models to the pivoting type flashlights because they really handle daily on the job abuse better and also have the added advantage of a long rubber covered flexible neck to wrap around objects for better positioning. My preference is based on heavy use of both types of the 12V, 14.4V and 18V models. Most of the flexible models I currently own are several years old and have had many times more use than the pivoting models ever will, for a good reason. Although they have been pretty well beat up, all are still working fine and I could never say enough good things about them. The on-off switch on all models is fairly well protected but can occasionally get stuck in one position because of heavy dirt or mud buildup. The switch can be freed up easily with the aid of a stiff parts cleaning brush once the mud has dried.
If you do a lot of work in crawl spaces or other areas where dirt, mud, sand and grit can get ground into the pivot joint of the DW904 flashlight, it can eventually cause excessive wear at the joint and damage to the spring loaded electrical contacts located there, causing the light to malfunction without warning at a most inopportune time. One day, I had just such an experience using the 12V DW904 while replacing the motor on a circulator pump located about sixty feet back inside a crawl space under a hotel. The crawl space had absolutely no area lighting of its own and none of the natural light that you sometimes get through vents, so the DW904 was literally the only source of light to be had. About halfway into the job, I was in the process of adjusting the flashlights head to better light the work area, when everything suddenly went pitch black. At first, I thought,...okay..., maybe the bulb had just burned out. I'd had to change the bulb in the dark once before so I new it could be done. Feeling my way around the flashlight, I carefully unscrewed the lens and replaced the bulb with a spare bulb stored inside the flashlights head. The bulb wasn't the problem. I remember thinking, ... "Heeere Lassie!"... because there was no way I was going to be able to navigate my way around obstacles and get out of the crawl space without seeing where I was going. Fortunately, I had a two-way radio with me and was able to get hold of someone up above to grab another flashlight and come down to where I was working.
I don't think this situation was brought about by any flaw or defect in the DW904 so much as that it is just not designed for any type of use that exposes it's pivot joint to continuous abrasion from sand and dirt. The older Makita 9.6V pivot type flashlights I used years ago where also susceptible to the same problem, although none of them ever went completely and totally dead on me like the Dewalt did. You could usually bang the Makita against a floor joist a few times and it would come back to life, at least temporarily.
Overall, if you plan to use your flashlight only in clean, dry locations, the DW904 should be a good choice. On the other hand, if you plan to consistently use your flashlight in damp, dirty environments and other high abuse areas, as most tradesmen normally will, then one of Dewalt's flexible flashlight models is definitely a better and much more appropriate choice. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Powerful + Survived Blackout 2003
Early this year, I was shopping for a mini book lamp. I had only two choices:
1. Zelco "itty bitty" Book Light
2. Petzel E44p Headlamp.
Researched both products. Finally, decided Petzel E44P was the one for me based on reviews and the overall product specs . I purchased two Petzel headlamps and I'm happy that I made the right choice.
Petzel:
- Small, portable and powerful
- Light, Stable, Comfortable and Powerful lamp
- Handy Utility Lamp -
- Night Reading - Excellent
- Offer great lighting when you are working in a tight spot.
- Petzel E44P became my essential survival tool during the GREAT Blackout 2003!
- Pay more - Priceless for a Rock Solid Product
- Battery Perfect Size
- Powerful LED lamp vs. standard yellow light
- Long Lasting battery - The batteries are over 6 months old and it is still going strong.

Cons: Closing the battery lid was not easy.
On/Off switch could be better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nearly perfect; just watch how you take it off
This is a nearly perfect headlamp.

Positive points:
1) Best battery life of any headlamp that I've seen. LED lamps, low power consumption, etc. mean that it easily gets 100 hours per set of batteries.
2) Lightest, most comfortable headlamp on the market, especially for daily use and/or "in your pocket, when I need it" use.
3) Terrific as a "go put the dog out" or "reading in bed" light.

Bottom line: it's really cool; works great, can be packed away, and used as a hand lamp...get one. You'll love it.

Minor caveats:
1) There's a little warning slip in the package, but in case you miss that: to avoid unpleasant surprises, DO use two hands to take it off, so the rear pad doesn't jump off the back of your head and hit your hand.
2) It's not waterproof, and not as secure as some of the higher-end sport headlamps. Therefore, when pursuing physically vigorous activities, you may want a headlamp that is a little more secure. This is fine, however, for jogging, biking, reading in bed, etc.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic For Camping And Many Other Uses!
I purchased my first Zipka as a stocking stuffer for my husband, HOPING he would use it. It gets used all the time! Taking out the trash, in the workshop, as a book light, around the house and of course Camping! My whole family has since purchased them. The battery lasts forever and its a great way to tend the fire or cook without having to set up a lantern or other light source. Its light weight and durable too. Even my small cousins have them and they work great!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow- lasts forever, great product!
This light never dies due to its LED technology. It is not extremely bright but definitely bright enough for illuminating your path at night. It is great for power outages or camping. I feel much safer walking or jogging at night in my neighborhood. Light-weight, very good attachment mechanism. This product is a major improvement compared to the standard head lamp, to the point that everybody should have one. It is a perfect gift in that it is (1) reasonable price, (2) usable by anybody, (3) sufficiently different that people are unlikely to already have it, (4) truly useful/safety feature as opposed to worthless junk that is most gifts.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great light for occasional use
I am a private pilot and carry this light in my flight bag. It has proven to be phenomenally useful. I highly recommend it for any situation where you need an occasional light (household use, in your car, boat, for camping, etc.) For portable, occasional use, this cannot be beat. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars The drill works ok but the batteries die very fast.
I bought 4 of these drills - two for me and two for friends.
All batteries get tired quickly with usage and they die quickly ( in that they no longer hold a charge at all ). A new battery costs $35 and I only paid $45 for the complete drill/charger/bits so buying new batteries seems like a waste. I bought the Dewalt drill ($180) which came with two batteries and _really_ like it. It charges fully in 1 hour has _lots_ of power and the batteries last quite a while.

3-0 out of 5 stars I CAN TELL YOU WHERE TO GET THE CHARGER
...but if you've got the cash, you might as well go ahead and get a REAL drill. The number one problem I have with this lemon is that it can't hold small bits...the chuck is poorly designed. I just had the charger conk out on me...first of all, these batteries don't hold a charge for too long; now, no one carries the charger...

Well, almost no one:
http://doityourself.com/store/028877325163.htm

So I hope that helps the person who posted about not being able to find the charger.

3-0 out of 5 stars warranty
I am trying to find a battery charger for this type battery and can't seem to find one. Our drill is not been used much at all and now we need a charger. If anyone knows where we could get one I sure would appreciate it if you would let me know. Thanks in advance.
We loved having the drill in our home for the convience but, without a charger it is no good to us. We have 2 batteries but, no way to charge them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Battery - Never Get Caught With a Dead Power Tool!
I own a Black & Decker drill and love it! One of the great things about it is that when it runs low on juice, I can just pop in a spare one of these great Firestorm battery packs and never have to stop and wait for my battery to charge back up! Totally handy for when I'm on a roll and don't feel like stopping everything for recharging. These battery packs are also interchangeable with other Firestorm tools - saws, screwdrivers and more. Definitely well worth the money if you are a tool junkie or just impatient like most of us. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Vix-Bits are great
Vix-Bits are one of those things that once you use you wonder why you waited so long to get them. Great on-center holes each time. These genuine Vix-Bits appear to be better made than the Chinese or Taiwanese clones that some companies sell.

5-0 out of 5 stars Eureka! I CAN Drill Holes that are Centered!
I had been stubbornly using an awl or an eyeball to center my holes until I finally broke down and bought one of these. I had a couple of doors to hang so I figured about 20¢ per hole to get it right. The Vix sure makes it easy to do things right. Those doors actually LOOK like they were hung by a sober man.

5-0 out of 5 stars No more crooked screws!
It may sound silly, but a crooked or off-center screw just drives (no pun) me crazy! No more split wood either. I've been using these for about 8 years now. What an excellent product! ... Read more
