Vix-Bits are great
Vix-Bits are one of those things that once you use you wonder why you waited so long to get them. Great on-center holes each time. These genuine Vix-Bits appear to be better made than the Chinese or Taiwanese clones that some companies sell.

Eureka! I CAN Drill Holes that are Centered!
I had been stubbornly using an awl or an eyeball to center my holes until I finally broke down and bought one of these. I had a couple of doors to hang so I figured about 20¢ per hole to get it right. The Vix sure makes it easy to do things right. Those doors actually LOOK like they were hung by a sober man.

A quick and accurate way to predrill hinges
This bit drills just the right hole for it's specific purpose. Only negative is that it tends to clog with wood shavings and stick. It greatly improves the speed and accuracy of predrilling hinges.

How deep can this bit drill?
I bought a bit similar to this, but it could only drill about 3/8 of an inch deep. Is this bit able to drill to 3/4 of an inch of depth? If so - I'll buy it!

I can't remember how many times I have struggled trying to get my pilot hole centered in the middle of a hinge or some other pre-drilled hole. The best
This countersink has to be the best on the market. Ive tried many diffrent brands over the years and never found as good. I buid resturants for a living that requres a demanding scheul.which really puts tools to a harsh test.this tool has preformed well.

DeWalt countersinks-A view from the job site
I have burnout,broken,dulled,and demolished every kind of countersink/drill bit Ive been able to find over the years. Even my old fovorite, the Fuller countersink, would need attention after 8 or 10 jobs. I'd get a year out of a set, maybe. Then I got my hands on some DeWalt countersink, and after more than a dozen jobs I still haven't had to sharpen a one. Even the #6 & #8 which I use the most. The countersink has stayed sharpe though hundeds of holes,in plywood,pressboard, formica,& solid stock. The drill bit has also exceded my exspectations. It has stayed true and hasn't shown any signs of fatigue. I have yet to have to sharpen either piece, which has save me time (and money). This is the best countersink combination I have found. Can't be beat
I have used these counter sinking bits for about 2 years now and am still very satisfied. The tapered point along with the deep flutes on the shaft make this a fast and smooth cuttig bit. The key is the deep fluting which get the wood chipps out of the hole and out of the way. There is no way to remove the bit half way through the cut to clear the chips. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR...
These bits do a great job. I'm about to buy spare drill bits for the set. True, there are cheaper versions. I've destroyed several. The "cheaper" versions have set screws that strip out quickly, or spin because you can't tighten them enough.

Great but expensive
Somewhat of a funky taper on the drill bits, but they work well. Not as adjustable (drill bit length) as I thought or as the packaging would lead you to believe. Finally, these are many times more expensive than some of the cheaper countersinks out there. If you have a "serious" need for countersinking, then this is a good set.

Versitle Drill bits
I had an opportunity to purchase and use a set of these tapered countersink bits on a job where we had hundreds of countersunk pilot holes to drill. I used a drill bit stop placed on the shaft of the countersink to regulate the depth. They performed flawlessly. I later used them to pre-drill holes in plexiglass by turning the countersink around backwards and using a rubber washer as a cushion. I am a believer in using the right tool for the right job. I haven't ever seen any better bits of this type from any other vendor. *****

Makes woodworking much easier!
I bought thes bits in july as replacments for my broken crafstman bits...it makes fastening cabinets ten times quicker .instead of havin to change bits everytime it drills and countersinks all in one pass!i recommend this to any woodworker hobbiest or pro.

Good bits, but read on....
I just purchased a set of four of these from Home Depot for less than the cost of this one. They are 6, 8, 10, and 12.

The picture shows the bit fully extended, which is adjusted through the use of a small allen wrench (not included).

It does a find job of cutting clean divots, but I am not a fine woodworker yet, so my standards may not be as exacting as some. If you have the DeWalt or Stanley 1/4" quick change adaptor, it will fit in there as well, as you can tell from the narrowing of the collar 1/2 inch up the stem. ... Read more
