Almost Perfect
I'm very happy with this infrared thermometer. It is extremely easy to operate. There is only one button to push to make it work. Just point and click!

The only thing I would have liked to see different with it (maybe in the next version?) would be a something marking the area actually being measured. The thermometer projects a little laser-pointer dot in the center of the area being measured for temperature. The instructions point out that the further away the surface is the larger the area will be. The dot never changes size, though, so it is a little difficult to determine what the area is. It would be really nice to have a square or octagon or something outlining the area being measured.

Of course, this isn't a problem if you are measuring the temperature of a pan on the stove since there is a lot of area from which to take the measurement.

worth it . . absolutely
I recently added one of these to my high-end(ish) 2 channel stereo system.The difference it nakes is astonishing.I plug amps, pre-amp, cd player into it and ground-loop hum is completely removed.Also, due to componants operating at correct voltage, sound is quite noticably enhanced.Better midrange, smoother treble, blacker background, more natural voicing and better dynamics.I did notice that the low bass got a little more polite and lost some detail . . but for me it's worth it to have such big improvements in almost all other areas.Highly recommended.Plus it looks cool.

A Monster of a product
This is heavy stuff. An excellent piece of equipment that works no matter what. The quality of the power in my house is really bad. Every time the fridge goes on, there is a brown-out. With all my home theater equipment hooked up to this baby, there's no more picture flickering or drop in sound level. Highly recommended. Please be aware of the following though; You do not get any filtering whatsoever with this unit. You must also get a surge protector or a more advanced filter unit to take care of those problems. A must for Home Theater or Multimedia centers.
I was really pushing the limits of my mid-range Monster surge protector with 2 TVs, a 2.4Gig P4 with desktop TV, DSL, two printers, and .....drumroll please.....a fridge all crammmed into acorner office setup about 7' wide. The Belkin Gold unit with RF/EMI suppression up to 75db cured all the rattle and hum problems with speakers, satellite signal, the "dirty" line into my modem, and a week later I haven't had to reboot my system once. Amazing!

I had already had a great experience with a Belkin SurgeMaster on my Home Theater setup, so I went one level up with this "Gold" unit. One of the better investments I've made lately. I paid $60 at the local Office Depot, the price Amazon is advertising is ridiculously low at $35. Handy Reliable Versatile Timer
This is a versatile timer control switch that keeps its settings when the power goes out.It's grounded & can accept grouned (three-prong) plus.It has a light to let you know at a glance that is in the "device switched on" mode.It has a button so you can manually switch the controlled appliance on/off -- doing so does not upset whatever program you have entered.

The watch-type backup batteries are small but last a year or so.
The buttons are small, which is a bit of a pain, but it helps keep the whole thing small.

The display is small & hard to read if you have trouble reading read small text close up.I woul dhave liked a bigger display on the face of the unit.But with the display on top, it's easier to read if it's plugged into a wall outlet.

It has only one plug to control one appliance -- I would have liked two.I also wish it didn't paritally cover a second outlet on many extension cords.

Mechanical electric timer controls are easy to find and much cheaper.They generally allow same-every-day programming only and the clock stops if the power goes out.True digital timers are hard to find and cost much more but they give battery backup & flexible programming.

If you need a timer that keeps time during power losses, this one will serve you well.
I've used a half dozen or so of these since this model first came out a couple of years ago.Never had a any problems.Never had problems with the predecessor models either, but the DT17C-7 is smaller.

Good timer for complex applications
I'm very happy with the DT17C timer.I use it to control a tape recorder for specialty recording applications requiring many on/off programs per day.The timer keeps good time, has effective battery backup, is easy to program and is quite inexpensive for its flexibility.

Only minor complaints - buttons are small for large fingers, and you can't erase one program at a time.

All in all, a reliable product and an excellent value.It has many uses beyond just turning lights on/off. ... Read more
