Product Description

Keep your home, RV or tool shed out of the dark with this Brinkmann Solar Motion Detector Home Light! SAVE BIG! No wiring required and no extra costs for you. Using only a screwdriver, you simply mount the solar panel on the roof, or any sunny location, and run the 15' cord to the light box mounted under eaves, entryways, patios, garages... it's your choice. The sun does the rest. The solar panel has a rechargeable 6V lead acid battery that charges during the daytime hours, and powers the 10W bulbs at night. Built-in photo cell prevents daytime operation so it's fully charged and ready to go when darkness falls. The infrared detector senses motion up to 75' away (can be adjusted from 3' to 75') and turns the lights on automatically. The light turns off automatically 1 1/2 minutes after the motion stops. Automatic temperature control reduces false triggering. Detector head and lamps can be adjusted horizontally and vertically. Solar panel measures 6 1/4 x 1/2 x 6 1/2" and the kit weighs 5 1/2 lbs. 5-0 out of 5 stars Work with this. You'll love it.
This is my first flashlight. The reason i chose this is because it has a combination of both LED n Xenon, for close n far view respectively. I use it for my work in the aviation industry. Just by the 6 LEDs alone enable me to carry out my inspections that is about 20feet away. Needless to say about the Xenon bulb. ;)
Two cons about this flashlight are it is a little heavy as it hold 3 C-size batts and the focus beam does not seem to achieve the standard that i want.
Overall, this is great stuff!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Real Tactical Flashlight
This is a true tactical flashlight which gives you three settings depending on your requirement. At the lowest setting this light is the most powerful flashlight I've owned. The smaller, low battery drain bulbs(3 or 6 burn setting) shoot powerful "blue" light like a science fiction laser ray gun. I use mine to walk my dog in evening. This torch really gets people' attention. Due to it's heavy duty construction it's a bit on the heavy side. But then this thing is sturdy enough to double as a small baton.

5-0 out of 5 stars Two for the price of one.
This is a great flashlight. I have two other LED flashlights and they are good but they don't fit the bill when you need a BRIGHT light. With this I have both, the LEDs are bright and will give you what you need 90% of the time, But when you need more you just turn on the Xenon and you have a very bright light. I also like the strong metal case, it has the feel of a Mag light. If you have been thinking about getting a LED flashlight this is the one to get. (they make other sizes you might like for yourself) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars That's 6,500 Candlepower alright!
One night I was fixing my speakers in the rear of the car. I used my Scorpion Streamlight to give me some extra light. For some reason I accidently left the flashlight on when it was sitting on the backseat. Meanwhile, several minutes later I smelled some burning and it was the Scorpion slowly burning a hole through my back seat. I was upset but surprised by the power of this little flashlight. Whenever I bust out this little guy out my friends react in awe by how much light comes from this little flashlight. I'm quite pleased but the batteries aren't cheap. My advice on batteries are to look for some on Ebay that run cheaper and buy in bulk. It has a nice rubberized grip for nice handling. I even hold it with my teeth when my hands are occuppied as I look at my engine in my car at night. This flashlight kicks the shizzle out of a maglite but it really drains the batteries if you have it one for a long time.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very good general purpose flashlight
Streamlight Scorpion is a very good general purpose flashlight, as the light is bright, and quite even when the beam is set tigth. The light is easy to operate with tailcap end click-on switch, but there is no separate momentary switch. You can depress the click-on switch halfway down to get the same effect, but that is not as good a solution as a separate momentary switch would have been.

The light is brigth with fresh batteries, but the light dims quite fast as the batteries are used. The light bulb heats up with constant use, and that can melt a hole into the plastic lens. That has happened twice to me, as the light has been clicked on accidentally without me noticing that. The light beam is adjustable, but when adjusted wide, there are some serious dark rings on the beam. The body of the flashlight is covered with rubber sleeve. I like the feel of that, although it is possible that the flashlight can stick to clothing when removed from pocket, but I haven't any problems like that.

This flashlight is a very good choice for general purpose flashlight, and the price is reasonable. It is not suitable for a tactical light (for law enforcement, for example), mainly because it has no momentary switch.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bright Light in a Small Package
The Streamlight Scorpion is a small light that puts out a lot of brightness for its size.

Powered by 2, 3-volt lithium batteries this flashlight is pretty small (both in diameter and length). You'll be amazed how such a small flashlight can light up a room or an object at night.

The pushbutton switch is on the bottom of the light, so that might take getting used to. It's a three function switch (on/off/momentary on). The body of the flashlight is coated with rubber, so it's easy to grip if your hands are wet. However, this makes it difficult to bring out if you keep it in your pants pocket or a holster.

The beam quality is nice: no "holes" or "rings" in the spotlight.

Pluses: small size, bright light, manufacturer with good reputation for quality, lithium batteries have 10 year shelf life.

Minues: Takes 3-Volt lithium batteries (can be expensive), flashlight is fairly expensive.

This is a good light to keep in the car glove compartment for emergencies because it's small and the lithium batteries will keep for a long time.

Would I buy this again? Yes, but because of the cost I would make sure that I don't lose it. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars As advertised
Good flashlight overall. It's about the size of a 2D cell light with a nice white round spotlight, not as bright as regular flashlights. The light diminishes after about four or five minutes and continues to dim until almost 20 minutes. Only wished they added some more storage capacitors to make the light last longer since there's so much room.

5-0 out of 5 stars As Advertised
It's not really fair to compare this to a normal flashlight, anymore than it would be to compare a normal flashlight to a plugged in floodlight.

This flashlight, of course, uses no batteries. A little bit of shaking gives you bright light that will slowly taper down in power until you give it some more shakes. A few notes:
1) "20 minutes of light" is somewhat arbitrary. The light slowly diminishes over time. You'll need to shake it more often if you're trying to, for example, read a book, but if you're just trying to see your way to the bathroom because the power went out then after 20 minutes you can still use it to find the doorknob before you need to shake it some more. For outdoor use I think you'd want to shake it fairly frequently to keep the trail lit.
2) For those who don't read the manual (like me at first!), note that you should shake it from side-to-side, not up-and-down. The repulsor magnets in the casing do half the work for you as long as you're shaking it horizontally (and the main magnet won't bang against anything that way). Shaking it vertically won't damage it but you'll end up doing more work.
3) Maybe this is common knowledge, but I didn't know: the capacitor stays charged so you can charge up the light, keep it switched off, stick it in a drawer and it'll be ready to go when you need it, pre-shaken.
4) The on-off switch glows in the dark, so you can find it when the lights go out.

As for a measurement of how bright the light is, I'd say it's a bit less than a regular flashlight with brand new batteries but it's certainly sufficient to read with and it's bright enough that you don't want to look directly into it.

I'd say this light is a must-have both for home use and camping. While it might not be as bright as a latern or battery light, it has the advantage of being free to use and will still work if all your other light sources run out of juice.

This is certainly a great one for the kids, who can now play with the flashlight all they want and you don't have to keep buying expensive replacement batteries or rechargers! Make with the shadow puppets, cause it's free.

Oh, incidentally:
* It floats and is very waterproof.
* Because of the magnents, if you dangle it from a string it will orient itself to point north.
* Case is a sturdy plastic, seems fairly indestructible short of setting it on fire.

I'm a sucker for cool toys and this is definiately a cool toy that happens to double as something useful.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best battery-free flashlight
After have owning a Forever Light and the Nightstar for 6 months I can say the Nightstar is better in every way. In pitch black nights the Nightstar light is useable for the full 20 minutes, but in low light (like at dusk or at dawn) the Nightstar gives a good bright light for the first 10 minutes and then slowly fades out. That is still 5 minutes longer than the Forever Light which is not as bright. If you need a good walking light and hate having to mess with batteries than you really need to try this light.

4-0 out of 5 stars A perfect addition to your emergency kit
I picked-up one of these flashlights at a boat show for slightly less than the Amazon price, and am quite satisfied with it. Construction quality is very high, and it really does work as advertised. The clear case provides a "cool-factor", too.
The "bulb" is a blue-white LED, and isn't quite as bright as a regular flashlight (hence, four stars). Still, it is quite adequate for general use. The brightness deminishes slowly over about a half-hour, but a few shakes brings it back to full power. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality and price for a 200 lumens flashlight!
I admire Streamlight for bringing a quality, well designed, lithium powered, high output flashlight to the marketplace and not charging an arm and a leg such as Surefire does. This flashlight is a bargain at this price, and its comes complete wirh a back-up xenon bulb in the lamp endcap, as well. If you want an exceptionally bright, very compact light, that weighs very little compared to all those 3C and 2D monsters - this is the flashlight for you! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An extremely bright USA made flashlight.
This is the most amazing flashlight I ever had. In my opinion, it beats Maglight and every flashlight I have ever used hands down!
This puts out such an intense light it can temporary blind an attacker which makes it very useful for self protection at night! I would not let a child play with one of these for they are that bright. It has an adjustable focus beam, a removeable metal pocket clip and a lanyard to use on your wrist if needed. This was highly recommended to me by a law enforcement officer. Lithium batterys cost more than alkaline batteries but you can get them for as low as $15.00 for 12 on the internet plus S&H. (CR-123 Lithium) It uses 2 batteries in 1 hour but just keep some extras and brighten up the night! The shelf life of a lithium battery is 10 years. It is close to the size of a 2AA flashlight but do not let the size fool you.
All it takes is one comparison for yourself to see what this baby lights up! ( It's rated at 105 Lumens of light.) In candle power; I think that is around 3 times as bright as a 2 D-cell Maglight. It is a quality USA made product with a lifetime guarantee. I think the Fonz would even give it a thumbs up & say AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Used to be the Best Brand but still dependable!
The Mag Instrument S2C016 Black Heavy-Duty 2 C-Cell Flashlight used to be my most used flashlight. Now a days, there is a lot going on with the technology of flashlights. LED, Lithium batteries, focus bezels, etc. The Maglight brand has fallen behind a bit technologically, but is still a great flashlight for minor emergencies NOT involving looking for criminals, terrorists or signalling for a chopper pick up. The Mag Instrument S2C016 Black Heavy-Duty 2 C-Cell Flashlight is perfect for a tool box or deep pocket. The product is very durable and they are proven reliable. Don't get me wrong. I've depended on Mag lites of all sizes for years. But head to head , the Surefire brands have quickly surpassed Mag lite in every important aspect of flashlights - usable light power, size, durability and weight. The Mag light brand just isn't keeping up with the new technology. And that's too bad for us who value product loyalty.
The Mag Instrument S2C016 Black Heavy-Duty 2 C-Cell Flashlight is STILL a good value and I have several in the house and the vehicles. But they're being replaced by Surefires as they wear out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Durable and Reliable
The 2 c-cell MagLight is durable and reliable. Being a pilot I use a flashlight for all night flights. For safety's sake I cannot afford to have a flashlight with a flimsy switch, cheap construction etc. Mag Instruments makes a great light period.

The 2 c-cell model is a bit large for the average kitchen drawer or auto glove compartment. But it works great for aviation and should be equally suited for boating, camping etc.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just the right size for everyday use
I have several D-cell Mag Lights and one AA-cell Mag light, but the former were too large and the latter too small to grab and run check on this or that when the need arose. The C-cell light is just the right size. I was pleased to see a History channel Egyptologist carrying the same one, a few months after I bought mine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tough, handy size
The best 2 C-cell flashlight I've owned. Fits in the glovebox easily so your kids and wife won't "borrow" it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fear of the dark
I am using Mag Flashlight for 3 years. It has never made me upset. If you afraid from the dark try MAG flaslight, it kills the dark in every condition. Rain, mist or dust can't stop it. ... Read more

Now, our new pocketsize "Duo" system is perhaps the handiest version — a pair of matching keyrings that can each send an RF search signal and each can flash and beep-beep-beep in response.

You can attach these keyrings to keys, of course, or anything! This is a clever but simple way to keep track of a second set of keys. Other "Duo" uses are limited only by imagination; for example, finding your jacket in a crowded cloakroom (place one in a pocket); or "hiding" keys or other valuables in obscure — but findable — locations!

Each keyring has a handy built-in mini flashlight with a bright LED and a distinctive metallic silver case that measures 2" x 1" x 1/2". Each weighs just 3 oz. and runs on an included CR2032 lithium battery. One-year warranty. Created by Sharper Image Design.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Little Light Bar NONE!
I own every 2 - 6 D Cell Mag Lite makes. Finest flashlights you can buy. I own 3 AA Mini Mags for both my cars and office. Problem is I think I'm starting to collect them! They're truly a work of art as their motto states and as durable a light there is. There's a Fry's Electronics store near my house and the other day I saw a Mini Mag in Pewter. Gorgeous. Didn't buy it, but I think next time I'm there I will just to have it. (Wife say's it's a problem.) Colors of these flashlights are truly gorgeous (especially the Purple, Blue, and Pewter) on their aircraft aluminum body. A great accessory is the nylon case that will protect the flashlight. If you're planning on purchasing the AA Mini Mag or any of the Mag Lite line of flashlights take the thing apart and see how they're made and you'll know why I'm hooked. :-)

4-0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive light, inexpensive batteries, good light... but
there are better lights out there. Of course they cost more money. I have 5 or 6 of these floating around between cars, night stand, wifes night stand etc. They work great, last a long time, and if something happens to them (battery leaks, run over with tank etc) you just chuck it and buy a new one.

That said, when you are looking for a flashlight that you have to rely on and you don't want to carry 3 or 4 with you, I'd look to an LED flashlight. LEDs don't burn out very fast, runtime on batteries is WAY longer. My personal favorite is the Inova x5. 5 LEDs, 20 hour runtime on one set of batteries, waterproof, and brighter than a mini mag by far. It just costs 3-4 times as much, which is why I have one of them instead of 4.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little flashlight
When three tornadoes hit my boarding school, I came to realize the importance of a flashlight (which I didnt have at the time, unfortunately). Realizing my error in not owning such an essential item, I immediately went to the store and bought one. My family has owned (and lost) numerous flashlights, and our Mag lite are by far the best flashlights we've ever owned. Some flashlights go on and off as the battery jiggles around, die as soon as you drop them, or just aren't made to live long. Mag lites are definitely NOT these flashlights! My mini Maglite has been dropped, kicked, stomped, squished, thrown, everything... and it still works great! It's three years old now and still works like it did on day one. It doesn't suck batteries dry, which is definitely a plus, and the light is constant. It doesn't flicker on and off if teh battery somehow shakes. I love how you can change the beam to cover a large area or focus in on a small area. It's great for late night reading in the dorm rooms. Now I even own a small MagLite Solitaire for my keychain. It's very small but just as powerful. Altogether, a great little flashlight and an excellent price.

3-0 out of 5 stars "Mini Mag a power 'shack', not a powerhouse"
In the last decade, people have been rooting for this small flashlight that was always considered to be cool, with it's aircraft aluminum 'armour', and bright beam. This thing was once considered to be more popular than a lightsaber.

These qualities stand to this day and should be considered should you buy this as a gift or lighting tool for someone. It's strong reaching beam fires a fair distance in spot mode, and a moderately effective flood mode lights up a room quite nicely.

Now, with these kudos, there are some things to keep in mind when buying this light:

Unless you get silver/puter or light blue, this black knight can be easily lost in the dark if you don't have it on. Also, the fact that it's a heavy duty metal doesn't help it's chances from a fairly tall fall. This thing is not shock absorbent. Maybe it's casing is, but it's innards aren't. And to top it all off, this flashlight is more thirsty for batteries than a 5 litre gas guzzling Mustang. After a good half hour, it dims a litte, but a little too soon.

So, what do I recommend above the Mini Mag? Two great recommendations: the Energizer Double Barrel 'xenon' flashlight, with it's great looks, and better battery life. The xenon bulb is also brighter than the Mag's 'T-Bulb'. Another great light is the Rayovac AA Industrial flashlight. Now, this flashlight does not have the same distance reach as the Mini Mag (in spot mode) since this light is built with a 'wide spot', that acts like a super (and I mean super for an AA light) mini spot light, and maybe not at long distances, but at least for lighting up.....the WOODS! I find this to be the best light for when you're lost in the woods. If you are one of those people who walk a lot at night, especially near any forests and wooded areas, then the Rayovac AA Industrial light is the one-if you aren't interested in an L.E.D lights, which should be your first choice. You'd probably think that a Rayovac AA flashlight wouldn't be powerful enough for to light up the thick of the woods in the night and twenty feet in front of you...well, guess again!! You'd better get one and try it out. It's output is nearly as bright as a 2D Maglite in flood mode. Really! I carry it everywhere with me (knapsack). And mega shock resistant!!

So, hats off to Mag for a great run, and for making a cool and powerful light with a few self defeating faults.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simple, tough, American- made and versatile
These are perfect for the car or toolbox; small, reliable, and rugged. The two-pin bulb can also be replaced with a very small LED (off-the-shelf, not a MAG product obviously) for easily reading azimuth scales on your backyard telescope while stargazing. ... Read more

Unless you've been hiding in the dark for the last few decades, you're sure to recognize this classic from Mag Instrument. The solid dependability of Mag flashlights is hard to top, which explains why the brand is so popular with police officers, security guards, and other people who can't afford to be left in the dark. This three-D-cell model is great for home use and an essential part of any home emergency kit. It shines as bright as most homeowners could ask for, and a simple twist of the head changes the beam from a spot to a luminous floodlight. Having a Mag flashlight on hand can keep an inconvenience, like a November blackout, from becoming a small disaster. It is also a great light for illuminating the woods and keeping the bears at bay on summer camping trips. The weighty feel of a Mag-Lite also offers a sense of security in the dark that other flashlights just don't have, enough to give you the confidence to confront any basement bogeyman or mountain monster. --Brian Trinen ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Another Mag Lite I used to Love
The Mag Instrument S3D016 Black Heavy Duty 3 D-Cell Flashlight was another of my past favorites that got a lot of use. The Mag Instrument S3D016 Black Heavy Duty 3 D-Cell Flashlight is perfect for a tool box but a bit too big for a deep pocket.
The Mag Instrument S3D016 Black Heavy Duty 3 D-Cell Flashlight is STILL a good value and I have several in the house and the vehicles. But they're being replaced by Surefires as they wear out.

3-0 out of 5 stars " CLUNK ! "
I've bought some Mini-Mag's before, but even though Streamlight and Pelican were coming out with these new terrific lights, I realized that dealers were hard to find, and although Maglite is the older kid on the block, they are easy to find, and it's still a great light. I bought my second 3-D size at my local "Wally Mart" and went to work the next night (I do mobile security). I've owned a 3-D size before and always found it better than anything I've ever used, aside from a super Coleman 9-V lantern. Sometimes I end up in alleys, corridors, and even my favourite, fields that are growing new but under construction houses. Still, nothing makes me feel safer (super boof on the head if under aggresion by a hoodlum) and well prepared with it's great power, both in spot and flood modes.

Here comes the bad news. I almost forgot that my other light died from the same reason this one did. I have dropped both of them a few times (clumsy me), yet was reminded that these are shock resistant. Well, on a fateful day in an office building, with new batteries too, I accidently dropped my Mag and as it hit the 'carpeted' floor, it went off. I tried to turn it back on, but after a few tries and even changing the bulb just in case it was burnt out, I realized that my Mag had expired. Terrific. The other downfall is that if you drop it and it switches off while you're in the dark, good luck finding it if you're in the woods. That happened to me once, but I ALWAYS carry a backup Mini-Mag, so I found it later (it's black, and trying to find it in the woods with dark branches around isn't easy, so it's hard to find).

Take this as good advice: buy it if you are in the woods or on softer ground-two of mine died falling onto carpets. The other thing is to at least get the "silver" or "light blue" coloured versions. At least they're easier to find in moonlight. I just got the black since the black looks best. Ah, still. Hats off to Mag.

5-0 out of 5 stars Maglites are the best!!!!
Come On!!! Many people have said that this brand is just ot heavy, and that you shouldn't by it because other brands are lighter. Well, unless ur a cop, these lights are great! Perfect for camping and blackouts, especailly the mini maglite. I would recommend the 3 Cell, its not to heavy, unlike the 4, 5 and even 6 cell ones. Also, remember to register yours at Maglite.com

1-0 out of 5 stars Old Technology
These were cool once, but by today's standards the light output is very poor. My SureFire and Arc flashlights are much brighter, more robust and a fraction of the size.

1-0 out of 5 stars maglite no longer measures up
Once upon a time these were considered top of the line, mostly by law enforment that actually prized these lights because they were sturdy and they could bash people over the head with them. They were prized more for their club like appearance than the actual crappy beam that came out of them. Over the years I have discovered numerous companies that actually try to make a better light, Surefire, Streamlight, Pelican, and Arc, to name a few. These newer lights use newer technologies, new xneon bulbs and no bulbs in the case of the new led based lights. It's too bad that maglite has been left in the stoneage of lighting products and now from a competitive standpoint must use other means of competing. From recent observations mag has chosen to try to simply place lawsuits against their competitors to try to destroy these new line companies out of existence. Sorry for the rant folks but no discussion of mag can be done without mentioning their extremely distasteful business practices. So I say to mag, spend your money on research and development, improve your now pitiful lights and let your product be your ultimate statement of company direction. Fire your vast team of legal experts who continue to be a blight on the civilized world and welcome competition which you apparently find so repugnant.
so for anyone who bothered to read this, frequent the companies I mentioned above for superior lighting products and boldly step into the 21st century of lighting and see how delightful it can be. The bonus is you can still use your old maglites as clubs and weapons which they were designed to be. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Makita 18 volt Flashlight
As an electrician, I use a flashlight almost everyday in and out of attics and crawl spaces, also for fishing wires. My boss had Makita cordless tools on the job so I figured for the sake of charging and interchanging batteries my cordless tool purchase should be Makita. I own the 18 volt combo pack:drill, reciprocating saw, circular saw, charger and The Flashlight. As with the other Makita flashlights on the truck,(both 14.4 volt)I found a problem with the design. The electrical contacts eventually(not long after my purchase) loosen up to the point of needing constant manipulation by way of moving the bulb portion (top half) of the flashlight.I wonder,.. what's the point of having an adjustable light, if you have to constantly keep moving the thing around to get the light to stay lit?
When it does work, I will say it's plenty bright, lasts long, fits well in your hand and stands well on it's own.
I don't recommend the flashlight (18v or 14.4v) to anyone frequently needing this tool on the job. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome, The Best Flashlight Out There
This Streamlight is brighter than a Surefire, cost less and has a longer battery run time when turned on.

I have looked all over the internet for the best price on 3 volt lithium batteries for my Streamlight Twin-Task 2-cell lithium flashlight and Surefire does offer the best deal(surprised) 12 3-volt lithium batteries for $$$ at [online] . The 2nd best deal is [online] for those people who are interested.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Flashlight, Great For Any Situation
I don't know what that guy from White Plains, NY USA is talking about. This Streamlight Flashlight has 72 lumens(about 43,333 candle power)of brightness, Last 2.5 hours with full brightness and 28 hours with the 3 LEDs when Surefire flashlights come with 65 lumens(39,000 candle power) of brightness, 1 hour of use and no optional LEDs(and never will, streamlight has a patent on there dual LED/xenon flashlights). The price is also great for this flashlight and much cheaper than Surefire. I use this flashlight for everything, I just gave one to my nephew for his birthday, he is an Explorer for San Fernando P.D. and he loved it, especially the two choices of brightness for different situations. The only thing that is true about this great flashlight is the adjustable beam does not work that good but the light does not even need adjusting it is perfect the way it is. Surefire does not even offer this feature but both lights have the same style light beam. I also own a Streamlight rechargeable Ultra Stinger and I could not be more happier with this flashlight, it has 75,000 candle power(the power of this light is incredible) and a adjustable floodlight that does work very well. I think Surefire flashlights are a little over rated for the price they charge. If you want a good quality flashlight that is just as good as Surefire if not better than get a Streamlight for half or more off the price than a Surefire.

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended
Please check out the review I wrote on this model under Sporting Goods or click on "more about me". A great all around flashlight with the advantage of being able to conserve the batteries when using the LED mode. The Xenon bulb is not as bright as it's cousin, the Tactical TL-2 Xenon model only. This is the one I picked for camping, power emergencys,& to keep in the car for emergencys. I use the other model mentioned for self protection at night for it really puts out a brighter & intense light which will temporarily blind an attacker in the dark. These were recommended to me by a law enforcement officer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect flashlight for all occations
I cant say enough about the products from streamlight. I purchased this light about 3 months ago & couldnt be happier. The light features both LEDx3 and Xenon bulbs. The LEDs work great for some basic flood lighting when you are trying to find something in the dark. The Xenon comes in handy when you are doing something specific and need to see every detail. Like I said, I have had it 3 months and havent replaced the batteries yet with moderate use.
Everything is manufactured to the upmost extreme. The case is very durable aluminum with titanium or black coating. The lens is hard to break, I have dropped mine once or twice without even a scratch. The button is also very simple and ergonomic, much like a MAG.
For someone looking to buy this flashlight, I would also recommend the 2D model. It is 2.5 inches larger, but has 10 LED's and lasts 3 times longer.

3-0 out of 5 stars ok for he price
This is a handy light, and a decent value. When compared to a SureFire flashlight, this is nowhere near as good (although the SureFire is 3 times the cost). The beam adjustment doesn't seem to work very well. It is useful to have the two intensities available in one unit, though, and it is better than a bulky D cell flashlight. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Universal Light
The first one I had was black, just like Model-T. Being dark and inside my dark overalls pocket, I forgot about it until it fell. It fell couple more times since. It is still working. It is a good size to go inside the tool box permanently. The size is also small enough to go inside where only your hand can reach. Sometimes in my line of work in seismic oil exploration I need to do come cabling, the Mini helps to get the connection right.

Bought a few more Mag lights since the first one, seeing as it is tough and rain proof. But when I travel it is the Mini that comes along instead of the Mag Solitaire because the AA size batteries is the most universally available battery you can find in most countries.

Torch (flashlight to you guys in US) is like penknives, tend to need it in an emergency. So one lives with the Leatherman, one in the car glove box, the old one still in the tool box.

Yeah, I have held the torch in my lips too in the past but now recommend a headband by Nite Ize to turn it into a headlamp. Another item worth considering if you go hiking a lot is the Nite Ize "Pock-its". This is a holster for Mini Mag Light and Leatherman, spare batteries.

5-0 out of 5 stars Last forever, so far
This very portable flashlight is heavy and sturdy. It has been dropped several times, with no damage to the glass. The illumination is also quite strong for the size of the flashlight, and will last for several weeks of use without a battery change. This is easily the most durable flashlight of its kind; you are likely to lose it before you damage it.

5-0 out of 5 stars SUPERB LITTLE WONDER
IT'S AN AMAZING FLASHLIGHT FOR THE SIZE. IT HAS THE LITE INTENSITY OF A ORDINARY TWIN D-CELL FASHLIGHT AND WILL LAST EVEN LONGER. THE ABILITY TO ADJUST THE BEAM IS FANTASTIC AND IT'S SMALL SIZE MEANS I CAN CARRY IT WITH ME CONSTANTLY. HIGH QUALITY AND VALUE FOR THE BUCK ARE IT'S BEST POINTS.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great light with little known feature
All the mag lites share solid aluminum construction and rubber o-ring seals.

What sets the mini mag off from the other mag lites is its size (easy to hold with teeth while working under car, sink, etc) and one little known feature - "candle" mode. You adjust the beam focus by rotating the mini mag's head, but if you continue turning the head pops off; you are left with the handle and the exposed bulb, which is now throwing light in all directions - it is a "candle". Flip the head over, place it on the ground/table - it is now a "candle holder". Stick the candle into the candle holder. Instant candle for camping. (These directions are actually on the mini mag's packaging, but it wasn't until I had bought my third mini mag (one for car, kitchen, daypack) that I noticed. This is actually a great trick to show other mini mag owners... they also threw their packaging away without looking it. The larger mag lights don't have this feature.)

Two mini mags in the candle mode do a good job on a picnic table at night... so get two of them... they're cheap.

5-0 out of 5 stars So good, I can't keep them
I love this thing. I'm not a hardcore tool guy but this little light is incredibly handy. It's beam is brighter and has a sharper focus than you'd expect form a flashlight this size. It weighs next to nothing which means it's easy to hold in your teeth when you don't have a free hand.

If it's any testament to how great these lights are, I've had three of them "borrowed" from me and never returned.

This light and my Leatherman are just about the only tools I ever need. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice try but.......
As an electrician in a hospital I work in areas where a flashlight is a must. A headlamp is the obvious answer. The Trident ( and I also just purchased the Streamlight Argo) produce good light but battery life on both is miserable. The Argo is one large LED so their is no excuse for short battery life. The Trident has LED and incandescent with the incandescent obviously a bigger drain on the batteries. Three AAA batteries just aren't enough power! ... Read more
