Make sure you have one of these in your hurricane or earthquake preparedness kit!

I would consider the Litebox as a "lantern" and not a flashlight. My definition of a lantern is that they are usually larger and can't fit into your pocket.

Although it's fairly large and heavy (due to the battery), you can't go wrong with this bad boy! Supposedly used by many fire departments, I can see why they use them: Heavy duty plastic casing, comfort handle, thin penetrating beam (although you can buy different lamp modules so you can have a broader beam), long run time. The head can also swivel up and down, so it can be a good work light.

Great compact flashlight
I love this flashlight. the LED's are plenty bright for most uses, and the zenon bulb outshines my old 3D cell Maglight. Seems durable, but I have never had a need to test it in extreme conditions. It is also a bit long to stash in a pocket or the small purses that my wife prefers, but they do make a lithium cell version that is smaller if that is your need. Personally, I like the cheapness of the 3AA's

The LED's do give off a blue tint that my wife isn't too fond of that, but the trade off for 80 hours of battery life is more than worth it. ... Read more

Great Flashlight!!!
I bought the Streamlight twin-task 2D cell flashlight about a 10 months ago. It is a great flashlight, very bright and the batteries last a long time. I work as an aircraft maintenance technician and in my line of work have sujected this light to many different enviroments; from high temperatures to cold and rain, it even survived a 25' drop from the tail of one aircraft. A few scratches later it still is working like the first day I took it out of the package. My two former Maglights have not been able to take all that abuse.

D-Cell flashlight doesn't hold a candle to the rechargables!
The construction of MagLite flashlights is great. However, if you really need some "juice", get yourself a rechargable version. They are a lot more pricey (around $100), but if you really need a flashlight for work -- it is well worth it. Many police officers (like myself) use rechargable MagLites. They typically hold a charge throughout an 8 hour shift and are a LOT brighter. They are rugged and reliable -- the D-cell type make good "back-up" lights though.

Best Flashlight on the Market
If you want to buy the best flashlight on the market, then the MagLight Flashlight is the one you want to purchase. The beam is very bright and it is adjustable. This flashlight is almost indestructible. My MagLight has been hit, dropped in water, and fallen from the roof of a house and is still working perfectly. It even comes with a lifetime warranty. I have had several flashlights throughout the years, but this is without a doubt the best flashlight I have ever owned.

Flashlight perfection
Need a flashlight? Contemplating whether to buy the El Cheapo plastic flashlight, or the Mag? Get the Mag if you can afford it. After all, you get what you pay for, and with the Mag, you get the embodyment of flashlight perfection.

Just the weight of the Mag with batteries in it gives me a sense of satisfaction (for some reason). It is a heft bugger, but that's why it's so durable. The light is also crisp and powerful.

The best flashlight in the world. Almost too pretty to bang around the shop. All the pro's use them( police,fire,mt rescue etc)because these things are bullet proof and built to last. Fabulous flashlight in an indestructible case
I own four of these 2 D-Cell mag lights. There's one in each of my cars, and one on each floor of my home.

They are bright, focusable, and it always turns on without fail. No more shaking your flashlight to keep it lit! It's well weighted, so you won't get tired by carrying it, and dropping it won't break the lens or the case.

We also purchased an orange plastic cone that attaches to the front like many police officers have for directing traffic, which makes this flashlight perfect for walking at dusk or at night.
