Cute, cute, cute....
When my husband received this as a gift....I promptly stole it from him. It is nice and light and you can keep it in your purse or in the glove box in the car. If your headlights went out you could use it to drive by...just kidding. The light output is very impressive. I like this size since the larger 4 and 5 battery sizes are very heavy. I wish they would dream up something besides the diamond-knurled grip. It gives me the same feeling as chalk scrapping on a chalkboard does!

The best Mag Light
This one is just as bright as the AA Mini MagLite and is considerably thinner and lighter. Extremely durable. I've had one for several years now and it's taken quite a beating in the car and in my toolbox.

Reliable little light
This is the perfect size light to carry with you in your pocket, for whatever you need to do. In my case, I use it to examine patients in my work as a doctor. The beam is strong and it has not failed me yet. Highly recommended- with Mag, you can't go wrong.

Perfect for medical professionals.

I used this light for years when I led camping trips with inner city teens. It worked out perfectly when trying to negotiate a small tent. Don't drop this one on your foot!
Mag Instrument S5D016 Black 5D Cell MagLite Flashlight. Over the years, I just needed and "HAD TO HAVE" that bigger flashlight! It's a guy thing. This is the one (and the 6D-Cell) light that lots of law enforcement carried. It was effective as a flashlight and as a tool if the use of force needed to be escalated in subduing a BG (Bad Guy) - Orders given with confidence and with commanding voice, physical force including night stick or Mag Light, side arm, shot gun).

There is a lot going on within the technology of flashlights recently. LED, Lithium batteries, focus bezels, etc. The Mag has fallen from grace a bit technologically, but is still a great flashlight for police / emt INCLUDING looking for and if need be using the light defensively as a weapon on criminals, cockroaches / terrorists or signalling for a chopper pick up. The Mag Instrument S5D016 Black 5D Cell MagLite Flashlight is very durable and they are proven reliable. But even the police and emt and military are switching over to more tecnologically advanced products and techniques to go along with the new equipment.. They have to. Their lives and the lives of others depend on the best equipment available. And for a long time that was Mag Light.

Don't get me wrong. I've depended on Mag lites of all sizes for years. But head to head , theSurefire brands have quickly surpassed Mag lite in every important aspect of flashlights - usable light power, smaller size and lighter weight.
The Mag Instrument S5D016 Black 5D Cell MagLite Flashlight is a good value and I have several in the house and the vehicles. But they're being replaced by Surefires as they wear out.

good, but large
Unless you are a police officer, or just an exceptionally violent person, you really don't need a flashlight this large. Go for the 3-cell one (it's actually much easier to swing in a ..., anyway). By the way... notice how they have an odd number of batteries in all these flashlights... you think maybe it's a secret arrangement with Duracell (snicker)???

A real man's flashlight
This is one great flashlight, fit for a king!

Is there any better flashlight on the market? I doubt it.
I have one of these stashed by the back door for forays into the dark of our compost heap. (It gets dark way before dinner up north here and we compost our vegetable scraps.) Then there's one in the car, of course. It happens to make a good ad-hoc weapon, by the way. And perfectly legal for self-defense. Then there's one next to the bed and one in the guest room.

The 5 D-cell means lots of light, lots of life. The size is easy to find. The head design allows you can change the beam from spot to flood by a simple twist. It's treated to resist corrosion (have you ever looking inside one of those cheap steel or aluminum flashlights? They may fail even if you keep the batteries fresh if they are corroded. It's even water resistant. There's an extra lamp in the tail cap, and it has a good warranty. Makes a terrific housewarming present, so don't overlook this as an idea for a new neighbor or a friend who's bought a new house. Can't go wrong with one of these babies.

Supreme Power and Durability In One Flashlight!
Anyone who lives as far out in the rural countryside as I do gets accustomed to power interruptions, whether they are due to downed power lines from ice storms, someone hitting a key telephone pole and knocking out a transformer, or is the result of one of the occasional electrical storms we have during the warmer months of the year. In any and all of these circumstances I can always depend on my collection of mag-lights to see me through the darkness of the house in order to light my well-used candles and oil lamps until the power is finally restored. I also have one in each of my two trucks, and when I recently narrowly missed hitting a startled deer late at night and went off the road into a muddy field, the trusty mag light was invaluable in helping me find a winching point to pull myself out of the muddy gully.

So, in this time of frequent brown-outs and power interruptions, whether it is a venture down into the blackened hole my basement becomes late at night, or finding my way to the bathroom in the middle of the night, I can always depend on using my mag lights to candle-power my way wherever I am going. I have two of the five battery-sized ones like the one displayed here, but actually also have three or four of the 'smaller' three or four battery sizes as well. I love mine, and although I seem to misplace at least one or two a year, I always have an ample supply of both mag-lights and replacement batteries because I find they are absolutely essential out here in the woods. Durable, Bright Little Bulbs
I put one of these in my old MiniMag after the original bulb burned out. I do believe these are a little "hotter" than the one that was in the flashlight when I bought it ten years ago.
