Very Useful Device For Safe Garage Parking
I ordered this item, it was delivered very promptly by Amazom.com. It was easy to install, but took longer than 90 seconds, as indicated by the manufacturer. Park-Zone can be installed in any garage, and simply guides you to the exact distance from the wall that you determine. It operates on 4-AA batteries (which are said to power the unit for a year) or the AC adapter included. As you drive into the garage, a green, amber, and red light guides you to the right spot. I'll be ordering 2 more for our other cars !!

It Does Exactly What It's Supposed to Do...

I was skeptical when I first purchased this item because I didn't have any confidence in it's ability to accurately gauge the distance of a bumper to the bumpee (a.k.a. the wall). But, after installing it my confidence was immediately buoyed by the unerring accuracy with which it issues its green-yellow-red sequence.

The setup and installation took about 10 minutes. Anyone can install this thing! The instructions were clear and easy to follow, and the provided templates make sure your installation goes easier.

The ONLY complaint I have about this device is the number of wires it leaves exposed. Depending on the distance from an AC outlet, it can be aesthetically unpleasant. There's a wire from the signal light down to the sensor (the wire that's shown in the photo), and then another from the signal light to the AC outlet.

Overall, though, I love the device. And... it works with multiple cars and doesn't seem very sensitive to bumper height.

park zone car parker
the park zone is a good product but the one that i ordered said i could park my vehicle up to 0.5ft. from the wall the ones that i recieved will only let me get as close as 1.3ft. that is not close enough for me to get it in the garage. i had the old units but i had to replace the batteries about once a month on one of them so i wanted to replace it with one with the ac power outlet i had the model no pzx-9901 i have one more of those and it works great .the new units i have are pz-1500 .
i just tried anothewr way i moved the sensor up to 4ft now i can park as close as i want the sensor hits the winshild now it works perfect.

Parking on a dime
I purchased two units a year ago. One for each of my garage doors. Love 'em both. Have no problems. Work as advertised. Takes the risk out of guessng when to stop my car. And I could take down the stupid tennis ball I have been using for years. Another plus is my wife likes the blinking colors. Go figure. Extreme change in seasonal tempature does not adversly effect the opeation of the units. Still just keep on working.

Don't Do it!
I am very disapointed in mine.
I was expecting it to be very accurate, but it doesn't work if you try to park closer than a foot from the wall.
I have a large vehicle, and I need to get within 6 inches of my wall. This device WILL NOT work with that close of a range.
Also I have been having to reset it alot (maybe because I am pulling up too close.)

I think I'll just keep pulling up until I hear it crunch! ... Read more

I just installed the opener today.Fairly easy to install.I was able to use some of the exisiting hardware from the previous installation so I didn't have to worry about hangers or the wall or door mounts.The settings were pretty close right out of the box for distance and force.This has all the safety features that I was looking for plus it is very quiet.It is below our bedroom so I went with the belt drive.Much quieter than the LiftMaster chain drive it replaced.Besides all the usual bells and whistles that pretty much all the combo sets have (2 openers, rolling code, outside keypad, safety beam eyes) it has a cool feature that lets you add devices from the wall mount so you don't have to get up on a stool or ladder to press the "learn" button on the motor.The 2 100 watt lights are nice and bright.So far no complaints. ... Much better than a hanging string.
What can I say other than 'it works great.' Very easy to install and setup. Simply park you car where you want it and press a button -- the park-zone will remember this location and signal you to stop whenever you pull in to that spot again. Took about 4 minutes to hang and setup. Batteries last a long time -- and in a very hot garage, too. I love it.

A "toy" that really works!
My son bought me this more-or-less as a joke, because I had a tennis ball (me) and a small doll (wife) for parking. I put it up and I LOVE IT. I am buying two more (wife and SON). I have had no problems with batteries to date and resetting is easy if you need to do it. If you have a tight fit... try this one.

This product does a good job!
This device has ended a problem of the correct positioning of my wife's car in the garage. If it was pulled in too far, I couldn't swing the door open on my vehicle without hitting the mirror on her car. If the wife's car was pulled in too far, we couldn't walk around the front of it. Not as universal as it pretends to be
Much to my surpise after glowing reviews from others, this unit would only open my garage door about four inches. It won't close it at all.

I have a Liftmaster Security Plus garage door opener built in 1999 or 2000. That's clearly within the advertised parameters.

The customer support desk hours are only 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday (exactly when I need to be at work, not standing in my garage debugging something like this), so I checked the manufacturer's website at www.skylinkhome.com.

I found this chilling remark in the FAQ for the model 89 (that is what you're considering here - A Skylink Model 89):

"If your Chamberlain®/LiftMaster®/Sears® Garage Door Opener has the 'Learn' button and happened to close and then open for few inches. The model 39 and model 89 might not compatible to your existing garage door opener. Please contact our customer support for details at support@skylinkhome.com."

In other words, sorry, you're screwed. Enjoy trying to return your on-line purchase.

Of course, Skylink will be happy to sell you, for another $23 plus S&H, their model UR100A Universal Receiver. With benefit of this additional gadget, the model 89 universal transmitter actually becomes more universal. At least, 99.9% universal. The web site does say that it this combination "99.99% works with most brands of garage door openers".

Great, huh? Spend A LOT of time with their web site FAQ before buying. Universal? Not even close...

I am using this with a Genie Intellicode garage door opener. Originally I had the Genie keyless entry pad but it was not well designed: the cover would fall off and sometimes it didn't respond to my keypresses. I got this unit to replace it and it was very easy to program.
