4-0 out of 5 stars Great but no attachments!
This is one fine tool, but what are those people at Bosch thinking. For the amount you pay, they could at least throw in a few attachments. I bought this because I wanted the versatility of Temperature control. It would be even more versatile with the attachments which seem to be hard to find.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Heat Gun
Gun works very well. It would be better if you could get the accessories as the different applications require different heat. I have not been able to locate any of access. the Spreader(HG010), Deflector (HG020), Reflector(HG030) or the concentrator(HG040). IF you can, I think you will be satisfied.

5-0 out of 5 stars Controllable heat gun
The Bosch 1943 is a pleasure to use. Normally, the temperature of the output of heat guns is a guess resulting in over or underheating. This gun has LEDs that indicate the heat of the output. The gun reaches full temperature in approximately 60 seconds and cools in approximately 10 seconds. The air volume is appropriate for most tasks but the option of higher volume would be appreciated. The gun is very quiet and light.

I've used other Bosch, Milwaukie, Skill and Black & Decker guns. This one is clearly the best. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars The "Best of Breed" -- By Default
The Freud edge banding system occupies a unique niche between the household iron and multi-thousand dollar (aka "real production") edgers. So far as I can tell, it's the only option for semi-professional production of heat-set edge banding.

I find it a highly compromised tool. As the old National Geographics used to say, it's in a land of problems and promises. Conceptually, it's a darn good idea. The execution could be a whole lot better.

Let's look at edge banding for a minute. It's not much thicker than a business card (exclusive of adhesive)and only fractionally wider than the wood it is applied to. It takes a fair amount of heat to soften the glue. The guide system on a bander needs to hold material flat, square and unbowed, although everything that is being done previously almost guarantees the opposite.

The EB100 sometimes does the trick. There's only so much precision one can expect from stamped steel guides. When the machine works, it's a lot faster than the household iron. When it doesn't, it's hard to resist the temptation to throw the sucker out the window. Although one can remove improperly applied edging, it takes more effort than to apply it by hand in the first place.

Freud should improve the guide system and the table on the EB100 to make it a truly useful machine. Machined, precision guides would are necessary for this operation. And they shoud re-think using heat-set banding on a machine table that is subject to high temperatures. After 20 minutes of operation, the front edge of the table peels up. This doesn't impair function, it just looks like hell.

I know woodworkers that get excellent results from this system. Despite significant experience with precision machinery, I can't duplicate their results. Maybe if I were more skilled, I could. I am uncomfortable with a machine that makes me guess continually. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars DOES NOT WORK!
This heavy hot-melt glue-gun user was thrilled when she opened her new Stanley GR-100 christmas gift anticipating it would vastly improve her speed and gluing finesse; alas, the trigger on it is a great deal tougher to pull than my .38 (no mean feat - perhaps manufacturer wants you to carefully reflect upon the consequences of wanton gluing . . . )!!!! rendering it impossible for me to use at all! Gifter purchased it from off-beaten-track store and we never had time to exchange or get $$$ back for - save yourself a lousy experience and buy something else from someone easy to return to (as is in my experience Amazon[.com]).

1-0 out of 5 stars READY SET DON'T GO
GREAT GUN WITH ONE BIG PROBLEM - LIKE MOST GLUE GUNS IT TAKES FOREVER TO HEAT UP TO WORKING TEMP. BUT UNLIKE MOST GUNS THIS ONE HAS A UNUSED TIME SAFETY SHUTOFF FEATURE. SOOOO - IF YOU DON'T GET BACK TO YOU R GUN FAST ENOUGH YOU HAVE TO START THE PROCESS ALL OVER AGAIN.

3-0 out of 5 stars TOO SPENDY
The first one of these I had the trigger broke.I exchanged it for another, so far so good. This gun is well made and I was sure glad to see a heavy duty glue gun atlast. And hats off to stanley for such a cool looking tool.It is comfortable in the hand and clearly well designed. But the price well...... It's just too much.I've heard the trigger malfunction is a common problem. Maybe stanley has worked that bug out.I havent had any problems with my replacement gun. This baby sure puts out the glue volume and heats up real quick. The dual temp is a nice feature also. the auto shut off takes some getting used to but it will extend the life of the gun.I do recommend this tool to anyone who needs mass amounts of glue in one shot, otherwise shop around you may find something more suitable and less pricey

3-0 out of 5 stars No problems, No issues, little pricey
This is a fine glue gun. Acurate and very useful. The saftey feature can be a little frustrating if you don't plan ahead and layout your work before starting. (no real problem, but unexpected)

I'm happy with everything but the price.

5-0 out of 5 stars "Contractor Grade" Misleading
While the words "Contractor Grade" are misleading, this glue gun is "Top of the Line" for the serious hobbiest, although not intended for the Home Building Industry. Keeping in mind that this gun shuts off in approximately 15 minutes after trigger activation, I had no problems with trigger malfunctioning. Forcing trigger on cold glue stick, will cause problems with most all guns. My wife and I have used this gun, everyday for the past week and it has performed flawlessly. We

highly recommend it for the serious and skilled hobbiest. The extra extended tips and dual heat ranges are extremely handy and useful. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Does just what it is designed for
I really like this heat gun. It is commercial quality. It will last for years, can be rebuilt ( if necessary ), the base is very convenient ( this does not cool quite as fast as the variable heat range model ), and always comes up to the same temperature. I think if I were to buy another the variable heat range model, just because there are times when this model is too hot for the project at hand, and varying the distance between the gun and the work is not enough. That is my only complaint w/ this tool, but it is not the tool's fault. If you intend to use this gun for the same project and you don't need to vary the range, this is the heat gun to buy ! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars BLACK AND DECKER HEAT GUN REVIEW
IT REALLY TAKES OFF OLD LAYERS OF PAINT EASILY, BUT I AM STRIPPING A VERY LARGE AREA AND AM UNABLE TO FIND ACCESSORIES FOR IT, SUCH AS A FAN NOZZLE.

4-0 out of 5 stars GOOD BUY
This little guy works great but remember this tool is designed with the homeowner in mind and is not intended for heavy duty work all day long.See milwaukee for that. This tool can be used for so many things no shop should be without one. It is worth the price even if you only use it now and then. Just because this tool is inexpensive does not make it junk. This would suit any homeowner just fine.Remember right tool for the right job and black and decker has been doing this stuff for a long time.

4-0 out of 5 stars Heat Gun (Helps) get GI Promoted

5-0 out of 5 stars this product is awesome!
Great product. I looked far and wide for a heat gun that included attachments. Most do not. This Milwaukee has four of them! And each one of them is very useful. I use mine to melt and shape plastics for furniture grade products. This thing is strong enough to form the toughest plastics I have and the lower setting allowed me to gently shape paper thin Styrene. The attachments aid greatly in diverting the heat from areas that you do not want deformed. Added bonus is the carrying case, another feature that most heatguns do not come with. Just helps keep the shop tidy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Getting Up Self Adhesive Tiles
This puppy works great. I have run for several hours while prying up self-adhesive floor tiles and have had no problems. It's light weight and the handle does not get overly hot so you can use it without a glove.

5-0 out of 5 stars Milwaukee 8977 Heat Gun
The Milwaukee heat gun is very quiet and provides rapid, constant heat. Temperature adjustment is easy, granted it does take some guess work to determine the output temperature. I've used this unit constantly for paint removal and shrink sleeving applications.

5-0 out of 5 stars Milwaukee Variable Temp Heat Gun
I purchased a Milwaukee Variable Temperature Heat Gun, Model 8977-20 to strip several layers of old paint on the exterior trim of a 1914 Four Square home. The Milwaukee delivered on the brand's reputation for contractor quality and thoughtful ergonomic design.

After using the heat gun for several window frames, several things stand out: It's light. An important quality when working above your head. (This was one of the key reasons I selected the Milwaukee heat gun over competitors'.)

It's quiet. You barely hear it. Again, a nice feature when you are working several hours at a stretch. It's easy to adjust temperature (just twist the rear housing cover). It really works well. Several layers of badly cracked paint, scraped away with only a few seconds of heat.

Be careful on dry, bare wood with any heat gun. It can burn. I used a spray bottle to wet down old, bare wood when working close to the edge. ... Read more
