3-0 out of 5 stars Bright but fits tight, :(
in a few words... not exactly what you would expect on a "high priced" head lamp. what i found not to my likin's was: the hard plastic surfaces on the lamp piece(with edges) and the battery pack. i guess this would'nt be much of a problem IF you're wearing this unit on a hard hat or such. a nice (removeble for washing) forehead pad would have BEEN really nice to avoid the "forehead burns" as you twist/turn the lamp housing for on/off/brite. i find this set up very unusual, opposed to a simple multi-position switch. What you have to do to operate this unit is turn the lamp housing (the round section)to activate the lamps in one direction IF that does'nt feel good try diming the five LEDs, you have to turn in one direction (on) and quickly turn the other direction (off) and back again to hit the next level of brightness (this feels REALLY great with the amount of tension from three straps pulling against your forehead as you twist and turn the head unit) not done yet, speaking of "tension", this unit has a flex cord from the battery pack to the head unit that must have come off a "trailer" hook up! IF your head is slightly larger then "normal" well be prepared to feel the EXTRA tension from the flex cord as well, id' guess it's about twice that of a phone cord, things that make you go hmmmmmm.. and to TOP it all off, why NOT have the option to remove this 4 AA cell battery pack from the head band for prolongation usage? it would have been really simple with the flex cord provide and a "clip" (much like that on a pager or pocket knife)to clip onto your shirt collar or place in your shirt pocket or waist band. ON the flip side, the lights are BRIGHT no doubt! for what i'll be using this unit (attics/crawl spaces) i guess i'll wear it over my (flipped backwards) ball cap or even perhaps my "bandana" for forehead protection. ...in a few words.... :)

4-0 out of 5 stars I dream of this headlamp.
I have only had the oppurtunity to play with this lamp at the outdoor store nearby. I wore it around the store for almost half an hour. But it seems to be a super powerful and durable lamp. I like being able to setthe brightness, which this allows 3 settings.

I need a new one for my caving helmet, the other 2 Petzl's, Tikka and Zipka, were not up to the harsh conditions, nor were they waterproof. I wonder if they will think me insane if I return and ask to submerge it in a sink or something. The other 2 did not need much depth, as they have no seals.

Seems comfortable when wearing without the helmet, which I NEVER do in or around a cave. But the straps seem as they will stay put on my hemet without aid of duct tape.

I especially like the tilting head. This way I do not have my head in my chest so I can try to see something, causes neck cramps.

This is a pricey one, but if it works as well as it seems and is truly waterproof, the investment is well worth the $$$. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars BRIGHT, VERY BRIGHT
I have owned 3 Petzl headlamps, it's great to have your hands free to fix something on your car or put that bait on your hook when it's dark.

My first headlamp was one of Petzl's first generation models, I've had it for 10 years and it still works fine, not to bright, but it does the job with ease.

The second Petzl headlamp I have is the Petzl E44P Zipka LED Headlamp. This little headlamp ROCKS, Very bright portable, and the batterys last forever!!! It is pretty comfortable and since it is so small you can bring with you anywhere. I would recommend this little powerhouse headlamp to anyone!

But if you are serious about wanting some bright light the Petzl E27P MYO 3 Headlamp is the one to get! You get the best of both worlds. Brighter Led lighting then the Zipka, and if you want to blind that bear that is chasing you during your next backpack trip, turn on the Xenon Halogen light. Seems like it's almost daylight when the Xenon Halogen light is on. HAHA. This is also a very comfortable headlamp, plus the tilting head is perfect to let you get the light where you want it.

I've only owned Petzl, I have never had a reason to switch. They make great Headlamps! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Shine on!
Sunday is "Fort Building Day" in my home. My son and I remove all of the cushions and pillows from our chairs and couches, and build the most incredible forts you've ever seen. We even draw diagrams and take photos of each fort, in case we want to go back and revisit some of the "classic forts" one day.

Since most of our forts are built in my basement, it gets dark in those forts. Really dark. Panic has set in more than a few times when my son has gone missing for a day or longer. But thanks to the focusable flood/spot beam on Petzl Duo LED Headlamp, I am able to navigate my way through the constructed maze of twists and turns, and find my son, safe and sound.

With the ability to choose one of three low-beam LED lights, or a high-beam halogen light, the Petzl Duo LED Headlamp is sure to exceed your lighting needs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Petzl E68 Duo LED Headlamp
I'v been on 2 marathons so far since buying this headlamp, and it is the first to, not only stand up to, but excell at the harsh conditions anything that goes along on one of my night time uphill endurance WC marathons has to. Just that would make it worth it. But it also has an on/off switch lock for not accidentally switching on in your pack and draining your batterys. I'v tried countless headlamps and this is by far the undisputed best.

5-0 out of 5 stars Never left me in a dark cave!
I just LOVE this lamp!

It is powerful, very bright, can be used as a flood or spot light and takes the harsh conditions of being clunked, bumped, rattled and jarred in a cave. Most I have used seem a little tempermental when injured.

I hit it pretty good one time when I stood up about an inch to soon and smacked the helmet on the roof of the cave, me so bad!! My cohort that day looked at the light, it got scratched too when it was also whacked on the roof, since it is attached to my helmet. The lense and case each had pretty decent war wounds, but this baby is like a Timex, it kept on ticking.

It is also waterproof, unlike the other 2 I had prior to this one. Washed it off in the creek, and it stayed lit! It was with me when I was walking through a little waterfall one time and this lamp was unfazed.

After wearing it one time, I removed it so I could clean the lense well. I put it in a duffle bag, that since has disappeared, I guess it got mistaken for someone elses stuff. Had my best lights and caving gear in that bag. ;(

I need to purchase another, though this one is pricey, it is worth the investment. It never left me in the dark. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Product
This items is as advertised and works very well. I love LED flashlights and this is my third. I use all three. The battery savings are phenominal. The three settings for light intensity are very nice. It is great as an extra photo light in low light conditions. It is great for computer repairs, trimming mustache, fixing car engine, looking for something in a drawer. I love it, but I agree that one needs a hat on or it will pull hair out. Highly recommended.

4-0 out of 5 stars This is the hardhat model, not barehead model.
Pros: Switch functions solidly and easily. Construction is solid and durable. Brighter than expected. Beam is fairly even/smooth.

Notice: Streamlight makes two models of the Septor. The 61008 is for hardhats and has a rubber strap and head plate with two connection points (this model is NOT good for wearing directly on your head/hair). The 61007 has an elastic cloth headband, including a top strap, and a head plate with three strap connection points; designed for wearing directly on your head/hair. ...(Streamlight Customer Service said that the head plate with three strap connection points is not currently available as a part that can be ordered from service.)...

3-0 out of 5 stars Two problems
This light has two problems. 1st, it has the rubber hardhat strap rather than the three point elastic head strap. Putting it on your head without a hat is like putting on a SCUBA mask with a dry head - it pulls your hair out. The solution is to wear it with a baseball cap, but it would be better if it had the elastic straps.

2nd, the light is not as bright as I had thought it would be. Don't expect it to equal a full size Maglite.

That being said, it is a wonderfully light headlamp that runs a long time and is fairly bright for close up hands free work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Headlamp I've ever used
The three levels of lighting 1/3/7 LEDs is very handy. I only wish I had one of these in Kuwait in 1991. The only modification I made to the lamp was to glue some moleskin to the part of the lamphead that rests on my forehead. That was easy to do, but it would be nice if the manufactures had already done it. Despite this, I gave it 5 stars!!! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Awesome. OR SO I THOUGHT!!! THIS REVIEW HAS BEEN EDITED!
I will leave my original review posted below, to see how I felt BEFORE the "event". The event unfolded as thus:

I have had the headlamp for about 3 weeks. I have used it about once a week, when, on Thursday nights, I walk the dog when I get home from work late. Tonight was walk #4 since getting the headlamp. Each walk lasts no longer than 45 minutes, usually 30. About ten minutes into tonight's walk... the batteries died.

Yep. We're talking 2-3 hour battery life, MAX. From 5 stars to 2, just like that. What a huge disappointment.

___________________________________________________________

This headlamp is great. Not only a comfortable and snug fit, but THREE different light settings.

The green light setting is for the kid in my 30 year old body- I love running around with that on while I walk the dog. And, hey, it works extremely well.

The super bright white light is great for close-up, its almost like daytime within a few feet of your head.

Finally, the "regular flashlight" setting is powerful, and you can see very well far away.

If you are getting a headlamp, there is no doubt this should be your choice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Headlamp
I highly recommend this. The green single LED mode works well for most things, so the battery life should be good. I haven't had it long enough to replace the battery. It is comfortable to wear, very small, and not heavy at all.

My only (small) critisism is that it doesn't hold it's vertical angle as well as I would like.

5-0 out of 5 stars This Headlamp is Great!
I realy like this headlamp. It works great. Very comfortable and it is adjustable. It has a bright green night vision setting, a bright white setting, and a super bright xenon bulb for long distance. It looks cool and is water resistant. I highly recomend it! ... Read more
