Enjoying my honeywell immensely
From the rating I've given this humidifer you can tell I like it an awful lot... Here are my reasons why:
1. No filter - Who wants to go out and buy humidifier filters if you don't have to?
2. Ease of cleaning - I live in an area with hard water and so crud definitely does build up on my heating element which does ... but all you really need is a little bit of patience and a little bit of a calcium/lime/rust cleaner and the crud should dissolve away (just be sure to rinse thoroughly afterwards... who wants to breathe in those chemicals anywa?)... also there's a plastic pan that also becomes discolored but that's easy to clean too - just a little vinegar and you're good to go.
3. Runs quietly... Like everyone else has said just a glug here and a glug there every now and then... if it weren't for the occasional glugs i wouldn't even know it's on...
4. Does a great job of keeping my room humidified... I keep it on high all night long and I can sleep comfortably at night and not have to worry about sinus infections or about waking up with a headache...
Ok, and admittedly there is one thing I don't like about this humidifier - the start/power button - when I first got this humidifier I couldn't tell if it had clicked on or not and couldn't figure out why it wouldn't turn on... Now I can tell when I've clicked it on, but it's the sort of thing that you get a feel for the more you use it... And once it's on, you're awfully glad it's on...
I think the things that I like about this humidifier outweigh the one thing that I don't like about it... Of all of the humidifiers that I've ever owned this one is the best one so far...

Soothing Relief, maybe...
I have never owned a humidifier before, and this is my first one. I suffer from terrible sinus pains during the winter! Some of my symptoms are throbbing headaches, with pains around my temples, the area under my eyes, and the forehead. I also have an occasional stuffy nose accompanied with some mucus in my throat. I read an article in a magazine, which stated that a humidifier helps reduce sinus pains, pains that are usually caused by dry indoor air. So I decided to surf Amazon.com to find the right humidifier.

Many of the other humidifiers that are offered on Amazon.com are cool-air humidifiers. This humidifier is a warm-moisture humidifier, which is great during the winter. Another thing that attracted me to this humidifier was the fact that it didn't require any filters. I only paid a one time fee of $39.99 for this humidifier. Here are a list of features for this humidifier:

- Auto shut-off at desired humidity or when tank is empty.
- Two moisture output settings.
- Power, desired humidity, and refill lights.
- Easy view clear tank.
- Dual tank handles - one to fill and one to carry.

On the high setting, the humidifier does not sound loud. The sound is similar to that of hot water simmering in a pan over the stove. On the low setting, it is virtually impossible to hear. You will hear an occasional gurgle of the water as the humidifier sucks in some water.

The humidifier also seems pretty easy to clean. The manual suggests a cleaning every week with some vinegar and a teaspoon of bleach. It is not that difficult. Also, I especially liked the medicine cup feature. It is a small cup that is placed over the opening of where the steam comes out. You can go to your local pharmacy and purchase some "Vicks Vapo Rub" in a liquid form for humidifiers and place a little in this cup. The steam will fill the air with the medicine, clearing up your sinuses instantly.

As far as the humidifier doing its job and helping to reduce my pains, I gave it 4 stars. The humidifier does seem to help, however not as advertised. They claim that this humidifier is for medium to large rooms. I am using this humidifier in my bedroom ( a medium room). I placed the humidifier about 8ft. away from my bed the first time I used it. It did absolutely nothing for me. Now I place it right next to my bed, and it seems to work. Don't expect this thing to work wonders in a medium or large room. You're going to have to put this thing right next to you if you want it to work!

The best when it works, but......
It only lasts one winter. The warranty doesn't help much. I am going to ship it back, but it cost another 20 dallar shipping fee. I don't know what to do if it breaks again...

3 gallon water dissapears in about 12 hours when it's on full blast and it's amazing where it's all gone. I would've imagined it would make floor and furniture spaces humid and wet. but no. it's almost hardly noticeable but definitely helps my sinus to breath better. I only use brita filtered water. so I don't have to clean up mineral deposit build up on the heating element. Yeah.. material used is definitely the cheapest plastic available on the planet. It probably won't last. but then it's 32 bucks to begin with so I'm not complaining. just another gadget from disaposable age.

I'm thinking about getting another one to really feel the humid.

Buy an Oreck XL
The Holmes unit works "ok" but gets dirt all over the exterior. The main problem: THE 2 FILTERS COST AS MUCH AS THE UNIT!!!

there are 2 major things wrong with this (and every?) holmes product i have been 'duped' into using. it is much like when you buy a printer, the initial unit is a mere downpayment for all the cartridges you'll need if u use it 'normally.'the holmes air purifiers i have been intermittently stuck with do help clean the air and thanks to the standardization of the hepa filter (and no thanks to holmes), work fairly well.the downside is they are extremely difficult to clean (i think i used an entire package of qtips) and you have to take the damned thing apart yourself to do so (hence i cleaned mine once and dumped it)if you like cleanliness, once you look inside the thing you'll be prompted to do likewise.the reason why it's popular seems attributable to one factor:it is cheap.seems like a good idea at the time.then u start buying the filters and attempting to maintain it and realize what a poorly thought out piece o' junk the actual unit really is.be smart, spend more and get an air cleaner from a company that cares whether or not the unit can be cleaned after you buy (slantfin, bionaire, honeywell). hope this helps save others from a dirty business.

This little air filter does make a big difference
I have been using it for over 3 years ever since i got stationed near Tokyo Japan and believe me, nothing has more polluted air then japan. It made a big difference there and now im san diego and it makes the night sleep go a lot smoother.

I Didn't Expect This.
As a smoker, I thought I woud try and clean the air in my livng room so I bought 2 of these because I liked the easy removal of the filters.Was I in for a shock when I went to buy the replacement filters.Who would beleive a years worth of filters costs as much as the air cleaner.I would like to see the price of these come down about 50%.It would almost be worth buying a new air cleaner so you don't have to clean the inside of the machine. ... Love it! Just ordered a 2nd!
We got one of these a few months ago- it's wonderful! I had originally wanted a Vornado but those were a bit expensive so I decided to give this one a try. It's a very powerful, compact fan- wonderful for those of us with very limited space. It's a little noisy, but all high-speed fans are. Given how powerful it is, it's probably on the quiet side of the high-speed fan category. It's low speed is great for sleeping- in fact we rarely use the higher speeds, even during the day. In summary, we're very happy with this purchase, so happy that we just ordered a second for our son's room.

Topheavy, but very useful
Well, we broke ours within the first month. It's too topheavy for the stem to be durable. If the stem were made out of a more durable material and thicker, the fan would have received a rating of 5 without hesitation. My fella has a hairdo that scares most women and children and it takes him hours to construct it. Lots of hairspray goes into the creation and he needs a powerful, adjustable fan to blow the fumes out of the bathroom (yes, this is what I live with every day!). This fan would certainly be a godsend, were it not for the somewhat flimsy stem. Beyond that, we don't find it too noisy, the 3 speeds are great, and the adjustable sizing is perfect for hiding behind our entertainment center (we live in a 600 sf apartment, and space is tight...this fan fits our space needs perfectly).
If you can treat it with gentle respect when you move it around and don't have pets, children (or boyfriends), who are rough with products, I highly recommend it.

Loud and odoriferous
This air purifier is good looking and mobile on it's casters but quite large.It's loud on the settings you would use if you have air problems like pet dander, light tobacco smoke, car exhaust, etc. I run it on MAX while at work and lower it while at home. I bought the 601 with the optional Smokestop filters and it has decreased residual smoke odors from my downstairs neighbors but with a twist...the machine (with these filters at least) gives off an odd and unpleasant odor of its own.I'm told the smell is harmless and should pass after a while but I've read of this issue in a number of online reviews so I doubt that it is just my unit.I am on the fence about keeping the 601 and am exploring other air purifiers in the mean time. ... Worth getting
I received this product and found it to be everything it promised. It is quiet and after a good night sleep my breathing is much better. I am glad I purchased this item and plan to purchase another for the downstair rooms.

the filter works extremely well and made an immediate difference in the air quality of the room. The only drawback is the price - its relatively expensive to continue to replace filters. They are one timne use and once the indicator on the machine tell you that it is time to get a new one then you simply remove and toss. Worthless expensive Product and Horrible Customer Service
I have used this product over a year and this only worked for odor. This will try to remove any odor except one, which was not convenient for me. If I take a shower and enter the room, it will even try to remove my soap smell. However, it does not work for cigarette odor or smoke.

In addition,it will dry up your room and your eyes will get dried and even turn red. It did not work, when my room was dusty. I bought this because I was allergic to mite and dust but it did not work for me at all. I recommend Sharper Image Ionic Breeze, if you want better air quality.

The worst part. I submitted $40 rebate to Panasonic over a year ago and still have not received the rebate. I tried to resolve this problem both by email and by phone for several months. Their excuse was that they closed down the rebate center and they could not cut me the check, although I have all the necessary rebate proofs.

After they transferred me to same wrong departments many times and did not return my calls, I even talked to 2 people at the management team in Customer Lead Dept and they sent me to wrong department again. Now, they won't even return my phone calls, when I wasted 2-3 hours A DAY to talk to them about it. (You have to wait AT LEAST 15 mintues to over an hour, if you call them.You have to expalin to representatives all over again to talk to Management because they do not keep all the records.) One of them told me that there's no department that resolves problem, when I asked them to give me another contact information because they were not willing to resolve the problem. Run away from the bad service. I am not just talking about representatives. They call themselves as management team and do not even return phone calls. A Fine Filter, Easy to Use
I own the Hamilton Beach humidifier and have to purchase these from time to time. They last about two or three weeks, and I have the humidifier going constantly. They are very easy to replace - just lift the unit up and drop it in (after taking out the old soggy one first). Not only do these filter the air, they draw the water up out of the pan in the bottom of the unit so can be transferred to the air moving through. If you leave it in too long it will begin to smell, like anything you leave in water too long. I buy four or five at once, so I always have one on hand.

Humidifier Filter
A very good filter - easy to install - and lasts for a few weeks with constant use.

Be careful though - make sure you turn it over at least once a day and if you can, leave it to air dry for 2 hrs - it really extends the life of these filters.

Order a couple at once ( save yourself the shipping!!) as amazon can run out in the winter - a definite buy for the HB humidifier

What's Going On?
Hamilton Beach products are a real problem here in San Francisco. No one carries their products and no one carries their replacement parts. I have checked everywhere ... Augh! Fortunately, I can order it from Amazon.com. The problem is that Amazon.com does not maintain inventory so I end up waiting for two weeks. Next time I will plan in advance. Always buy a bunch of these and have them handy. For one thing, they don't last very long. I used one for two weeks, and mold it started to smell bad. As it turns out, mold started to grow on the filter. Maybe there were some mold spores in the house so it may have nothing to do with the filter, but I am not too happy nevertheless.

DOA, no support from DeLonghi
My unit was DOA. There was no cooling, only the fan. I received no help whatsoever from my seller (I did NOT order through Amazon, please note, so don't blame them) or, most particularly, from DeLonghi. I have never dealt with a more customer un-friendly company. There was absolutely no attempt to take responsibility, to offer to effect repairs, or even to mediate with the seller. If anything goes wrong, don't expect DeLonghi to help. You are on your own.

Cool
My house has air conditioning, but it's not quite enough to cool the entire place on a sunny California day. In particular, my upstairs office reaches 82-84 degrees F with the A/C running. That's nice for a day at the beach, but annoying if you're trying to concentrate on work without dozing off.

After doing some research on the web I settled on the PAC-260. 9000 BTUs seemed about right, though when it comes to air conditioning it's rare to over-estimate the power required. In my case the office is 400sq.ft., has a peaked ceiling, and a doorway with no door, so cooling the entire room wasn't really an option. As with the air conditioners in many cars, though, the trick is to have cold air blowing on you rather than turning the entire room into a refrigerator.

The PAC-260 has behaved as expected. It's about as loud as a fan on full blast sitting next to a refrigerator (which, in a sense, is what it is). It doesn't chill the room, but it usually manages to keep it around 76-78F, and directing the air at my workstation keeps me comfortable.

The "dripless" design is nifty. No water buckets, and it doesn't seem to be spitting anything out the window. The noise outside (from hot air blowing out of the exhaust tube) is about the same as my clothes dryer makes.

Power consumption is 7.6A, or about 900W according to my power meter. I was able to run two full computer systems and a printer on the same circuit without tripping the 15A breaker.

What's not to like? The user manual is poorly written and incomplete. I still haven't figured out what one of the accessories does (looks like an end cap, but it doesn't fit on anything). The 3M disposable filter is nice, though it doesn't look like you can buy replacement filters from anywhere except direct from DeLonghi. The exhaust tube is poorly insulated and gets pretty warm, so wrapping a little insulation around it may improve the overall cooling by a small amount. ... Read more

Dissatisfied
Beware - I purchased a new unit and upon the first use I noticed that max heat setting would not work. After approximately 10 seconds of use, the heater stopped and a buzzer went off. After letting the unit cool so that it would start up again, I tried several more times to get the unit to work properly. I began to notice a large internal spark on the internal coils and connectors.

I view this as a serious safety hazard and am amazed that this wasn't discovered prior to shipment. I am staying away from Delonghi products from now on.

OK...but not great
This heater is only OK. Mine broke within 2 months and I had to jump through hoops to get it fix through the warranty. Even before that though I didn't think the heater really pushed out a whole lot of heat. I think there are better one's on the market if you look and probably a much cheaper price also.

Really Solid product
I just bought this space heater after going to a few stores and testing different heaters out but most heaters were too loud, the controls were cumbersome, and only a few had antiquated timers. I read the reviews and decided to give this one a try. This space heater has easy to use controls, the automated start times are key, it is wisper quiet, and it heats my attic office space, a 12 x 12 room, in less than 30 minutes from 50-60 degrees in the morning to 70 degrees. I just purchased a 2nd heater for my woodshop. this is a great heater for a regular size room, but beware, I don't think it would work very well in a really big room, it's output isn't strong enough and not designed for it.

This header is so good that I ordered another one again
I ordered this DeLonghi after did enough research based on the following criteria.
a. Decent Brand
b. Auto temperature control
c. Timer
d. Enough power for my bed room.
e. Quite
I like this heater. I also viewed many heaters on the market. I still feel this heater has better value-price rate than others. With the winter season coming, I bought another one for my another bed room. This saved me a lot of money for my utility bill, because in the evening, the heating system in my house heats the living room warmer than the bedrooms.

Only one issue, the oscillate feature is independent of the fan being on. So, even the heater fan is off, the heater is still oscillating.

I like the thermostat on the heater. The programmable timer on this heater is wonderful for nights and mornings. The annoying thing about the heater is the fact that the oscillate feature is independent of the fan being on. Thus, when the heater is not programmed to be on, it is still oscillating.
