WONDERFUL...WONDERFUL...WONDERFUL
What a brilliant kit. This Black & Decker product is excellent. I don't know what I would do without it, in fact, I just placed an additional order for two more.

Where's the Battery?
The shrubber didn't come with the battery!! I assumed it would, but none was in the box, just the gaping hole in the back of the shrubber with nothing to plug the charger into. Nice kit, but not worth the price if I have to spend additional $$ for the battery.

A great value for the $20 sale price
I bought this on a whim after seeing it for $20 in the "bottom of the page" section. My expectations were fairly low, but Black & Decker products are usually pretty reliable, and what's $20?

The accessories that came with the pruner were nearly worth the $20 alone. A folding serrated blade and a sturdy pair of clippers, along with a decent pair of gloves. The bag itself is quite well-made, and seems built to last.

The pruner is slightly underpowered, but it gets the job done on smaller branches. Don't count on the battery lasting long enough for very heavy jobs, but at least you can plug it in with an extension cord.

For $20, it's a heck of a deal if you only need this for light work. However, if you're going to do some heavy trimming, spring for something more powerful.

pretty good tools for the money
This is a good value because you get more than just the shrubber and you pay less than the shrubber alone. The shrubber itself is quite light duty, mostly for thin, new growth. The additional tools are standard issue pruners, but decent quality. We also bought the extender handle offered for the shrubber and it comes in very handy for reaching very high bushes which we couldn't get to before (and we had to pay pruner guys a bunch just to get the high growth). The bag it comes in is good to store all the items in. Definately a very good value for light duty trimming.

Definitely NOT bush-league
Where the HECK was this when I needed to trim my Pampas grass. I hacked away for HOURS using a dull grass shears, but this little item is just perfect for trimming our ornamental grasses down. We always cut them off during the fall after they bloom, then again in the spring, we chop them down to almost ground level to allow the new green growth to come up.

Our shrubs also seem to grow insanely every year. Of course, we aren't going to let them take over the house, and they look a lot better with a haircut. Black and Decker should be complimented on the brilliance of this little kit. ... Read more

Good Trimmer, Fragile Top Handle
The hedger runs for about 45 minutes and goes through 1/8 inch branches easily. Anything larger will jam the blades. The top handle is not well designed. It takes a lot of stress on the two round/angled connection points to the body. After a couple of weekends, the top handle broke off. American Gardener (through a repair company called Utility Electric) sent me a replacement handle. I've learned to try and put most of the stress on the trigger handle and use the top handle gingerly. This hedger beats dragging a cord around. I have not tried the Black and Decker or Toro cordless for a comparison.

Very impressed
I just tried the trimmer out for the first time, having left the battery in the charger overnight. I had purchased it because I injured my left shoulder and wanted something lighter than the gasoline-powered trimmer I already have. I expected that it would do at least a decent job on trimming my hedge, although I figured that I would have to do the job in stages, because the hedge is about 100 yards long and between 3 and 4 feet high. Much to my surprise, the trimmer did the entire hedge on one charge and seemed ready to take on something else. Because it is so much lighter than the gasoline model, I found it easier to hold the blade level and to avoid any mistakes.
