4-0 out of 5 stars Best Portable Tv
I have one of this portable TV Casio EV570 ,my freind borrowed it from me and enjoy wacthing,he got one for him he enjoyed wacthing because the picture so clear.

5-0 out of 5 stars Casio has Crystals
This company comes out with superb configuration for handheld TV's. The 2.5" screen model EV-570 is Casio's smallest TFT (LCD technology abbreviation) TV. The picture is very sharp and clear. Don't avoid buying this TV just because it doesn't have the cheapest price tag. I have enjoy watching the VCR through the audio/video jack right on my lap instead of the large TV screen. This handy size TV will be enjoyed both indoors and out.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good TV for its size
I take a lot of road trips so I decided to get this handheld TV. All I have to say is wow; I was up in New Hampshire over the weekend and this TV picked up more channels, while in the car, than the TV we had in our place that had rabbit ears. The only problems I encountered were that I was watching a football game and I couldn't see the score because the screen was too small. Also the battery life is no more than just over 2 hours, but I bought rechargeable batteries and a charger which gets rid of that problem. Anyway I would definetly recommend this TV to anyone who wants to watch a TV when they aren't close to one.

1-0 out of 5 stars DEFECTIVE PRODUCT - DON'T BUY IT! 0 stars.....
I was given this item as a gift and 5 minutes after putting in the batteries and getting nothing but a dark fuzzy screen, I call up the customer support number, a minute later the batteries exploded in the unit (while I was on the phone with Casio Customer Support). Their reply was "these things happen".

Then I was told to either return the defective product where it was purchased within 30 days and the retailer would replace it, or pay for shipping and insurance to send it to somewhere in New Jersey where I was told it may take them up to 30 days to look at it.

I'm not sure if I even want another one, at the risk of getting injured by exploding batteries from bad circuitry.

I would never buy or reccommend any products from Casio.

2-0 out of 5 stars no customer service, no adapter
I just bought this and 1. it did not come with an adapter for in-home use nor did it come with a car adapter. Its a neat little tv, but - when I tried to call to ORDER the adapters - the number is "no longer active". So what does that tell you? It tells you that - do not buy this product. It costs too much, and they can't even supply an adapter! and 2. There is NO customer service to order more supplies, ask about warranty, return the defective product or ask general inquiries. I gave it two stars for its quality, but dropped the two stars for horrible customer service and no adapter.

1-0 out of 5 stars Much less than expected!
This TV is not very sensitive and does not pick up stations very well. The unit does not work with an external power source and must be repaired which is an additional shipping cost. The bottom line: Another expensive useless piece of junk!

5-0 out of 5 stars Too cool!
This thing is AMAZING! Courtesy of Hurricane Isabel and a decaying deregulated infrastructure, our power has gone off 6 times in the past month, for as long as 10 hours at a time. Even though we have laptops, the DSL doesn't work without AC, so repeated unpredictable blackouts really cut us off from the world, the weather etc. No more. It works on batteries, a vehicle DC charger, or regular AC. Batteries last forever courtesy of the LCD screen. It has a built-in, adjustable antenna but since we are in the sticks and a minimum of 55 miles to the nearest broadcast station, we got an optional adaptor designed to connect it to an outside antenna, but we connected it to cable instead. Direct connect to cable gives channels 2-22 and 56-98, we've also run it thru a VCR to give access to all channels (of course that doesn't work when the power is off). Last power outage - no problem, got local news to determine that it wasn't a terrorist attack, it wasn't affecting the entire east coast, just a little local inconvenience. It's funny now that when the power goes off and the neighbors are in utter darkness, we still have a working light in the frontyard because its a gaslight, AND have the familiar blue glow coming from this puppy inside - combining the best of the 19th century & the 21st.

In addition, my partner and I no longer fight over the tube. We can both watch what we want to within arm's reach of each other, with little unwanted disturbance from the other. He can point out the Cubbies fan grabbing for the ball in the playoffs, I can point out the Roomba vacuum ad I want for Xmas, and then we happily both go back to what we were doing. THIS is how technology should work! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Box is mislabled
The product functions OK, but there is a serious misprint on the box.
The box says 8 "D" batteries. It uses actually 8 "C" batteries.
Thanks to the mislabled box, I am now the proud owner of 8 D batteries I cannot use. I called Coby customer service, but they seemed to have no interest in correcting the problem. I would never buy a Coby product again. Coby should be ashamed of itself. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars I love this litle TV!!
I keep this on my desk at work. Most stations in my area come in clearly. A few are fuzzy, but that's not the fault of the TV, that happens with all portable TV's. You have to be in an area of good reception. Anyway, this little TV has a really clear picture for a portable TV!

If it came with an A/C adapter, I'd give it 5 stars. But I have to dish out another $15 for the adapter.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Emergency Backup TV
I bought this TV in July of 2003 after a massive storm knocked out power to over 75% of the Memphis area. I finally got to use it when another storm rolled through May 30, 2004, and our power went out during a series of tornado warnings and severe thunderstorms. The nice thing about the color screen is that you can see the radar image on the news and stay informed. The digital tuner works good if you are close to the city. In the outskirts it might not be as effective. I really liked being able to stay with the news after the power went out. It takes 4 AA batteries which are easy to install. It has a "kick stand" on the back which allows you to set it up on a table at an angle. The controls are easy to use and the volume seems sufficient even when the rain and thunder are loud. The only thing that would make this TV a little better would be a larger screen. I highly recommend having this in your emergency stash. If you only use it for emergencies, I would recommend non-rechargable batteries. But be sure to keep the batteries with it but in another container so that they don't leak and make a mess.

1-0 out of 5 stars Casio SY30 - Disappointment
I purchased the Casio SY-30 as a Christmas gift for my in-laws and was highly disappointed. Reception is poor, if not non-existent, as none of the main (i.e. ABC, CBS, NBC) TV channels were accessible in their home. It is difficult to manually adjust the TV to locate the stations - you can't tell what station you are turning to since there is just a yellow line that appears when tuning - there's no clear-cut channel identification. Upon returning the item, I did not receive the full value paid for it as selling a TV that doesn't work wasn't Amazon's fault. If you are even thinking about purchasing this item, go to a store so you can get a full refund if you have to return it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Casio SY 30
So far, so good...I like it a lot...I even get reception in my car! The low channels don't come in too well, but as with a lot of TV's this is a problem. Very compact and durable. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally, a reliable driveway monitor that actually works!
I have spent several hundred wasted dollars and many trial-and-error hours over the past few years trying to get a reliable driveway monitor. Problems encountered in past have included short-range/unreliable wireless transmitter function, many false alarms caused by animals, wasps, wind moving tree branches, even fast moving clouds causing rapid sun heating changes, etc. Finally, got one that works satisfactorily. This specific unit (don't know about their other models which ARE different), the DesignTech "Deluxe Driveway Monitor model 33370," is excellent. Well designed, well constructed, very simple/easy/quick installation, unique patented technology (different from all other motion sensors I've tried); and most impressive, it really does what it is advertised to do. Plenty of reliable range between the transmitter and receiver, zero false alarms, and always detects cars in the driveway. I could not be more pleased. I plan on buying a couple more to give as gifts. Some suggestions for anyone purchasing one of these: 1) If possible, install the transmitter/motion sensing unit on the side of the driveway nearest your house so that the passing car will not tend to block the path between the receiver and transmitter. 2) Don't unfairly judge the unit by testing it inside the house; nearby indoor metal (stove, conduit in walls, overhead lights, nails, steel springs in sofa, etc.) will distort the magnetic field, and result in a negative (false) impression that it is not as sensitive as it should be. Just install it per the manufacturer's instructions, and it will detect passing vehicles as advertised. 3) The outdoor sensor is waterproof, but just to be safe I put a zip-lock bag over mine. The only question still open is battery life. I'll update this report if that (or anything else) proves to be a negative in the future.

1-0 out of 5 stars Really didn't work
We tried to get this to work for almost 6 months and finally gave up. With fresh batteries, sensetivity set to high and receiver close to transmitter it worked only about 50% of the time.

3-0 out of 5 stars Better than nothing but...
This unit is confusing. It ignores the UPS truck. It ignores small (Tacoma) sized pickups. It always picksup my larger Tundra truck or my wife's Dodge Van. Still, it is better than nothing but it is also disappointing and NOT worth the $90 price... Cheaper technology from other vendors would also prove to be as unreliable as this one!

1-0 out of 5 stars New Christmas present
I mounted it 6ft high and about 50 ft from the receiver, with the receiver in sight. It has only detected one vehicle in front of it in about 25 times. Sensitivity is set to high, new batteries in it. I tried pointing it right to the receiver or away, nothing helps. Its a very worthless item.

4-0 out of 5 stars Design Tech Monitor 33370
Am real happy with the unit, but I must say it's set up under ideal conditions. The receiver is on a window sill and has a direct line of sight to the sensor which is right at 100 feet away. Our driveway is fairly wide and the sensor sometimes did not detect our smaller car, changing the unit to high sensitivity cured this. Haven't taken the time to set the receiver down on an end table so it has to detect the sensor signal through our metal sided house wall to see how that goes. As stated, the way it's performed so far is great, especially since not too long ago various monitors were way over $150. I expect it to work intermittently when the weather gets extremely cold, but that's not the units fault, alkaline batteries quit working while they're super-cold, however the sensor sounded this AM when it was 12 above. ... Right up there with "Did I leave the burner on?" on the list of nagging questions, "Did I leave the garage door open?" vexes even the most responsible of homeowners. That's why anyone with a garage should consider hiring a sentry--a Garage Sentry, to be specific. With a wireless range of up to 300 feet, the Garage Sentry monitors whether a garage door is open or closed, then alerts the homeowner of the door's status with a single beep. Installation is easy, too--simply attach the battery-powered sensor to the inside of a garage door and plug the receiver into an electrical outlet. One receiver can monitor up to four garage doors at once. Considering the number of valuable items stored in a garage, why not rest easy and let the Garage Sentry keep an eye on things? ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Now I get a good nights sleep
With 2 teenage boys who use the garage door as the main entry in the house, I now know when they get home and that the door was closed behind them. Great product, easy to install.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
This item is not dependable. I needed a device that worked as this one is described however after numerous false readings over 2 days it became clear that this item is not effective. Save you money and manually check to see if the door is open, this item is sure to disappoint.

1-0 out of 5 stars Quality Control Problems
Seems like a simple enough device, but the unit shipped to me simply does not work. I played with it for a half hour going thoroughly through the instruction manual, checking the battery voltages, etc, but the transmitter would never register with the receiver. Oh well, buyer beware.

5-0 out of 5 stars never leave a garage door open by mistake again
This product works great, very easy to install, just apply the adhesive backed sensor on your door, then plug the wall unit in your kitchen or some other room.

I bought two sets but had some problems synchronizing each door to the right receiver. Hmm. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars It works for about a year
This thing worked flawlessly for about a year. In the beginning, the only thing I didn't like was the sound of the chime (had I written this review then, I would have given it 4 or 5 stars). It would be nice if you could change the chime to a more-plesant doorbell-like tone rather than a warning-like tone. However, the functionality was so good we bought another one for my mother-in-law. After about a year, ours stopped working consistently. It would miss about every third car. I tried moving it, I tried increasing the sensitivity jumper, I replaced the batteries and nothing worked. I was convinced of some kind of "user-error" until my mother-in-law's started to become inconsistent as well. Now hers doesn't even work at all. Ours still misses quite a few cars but it does work on occation.

I'm currently looking for a replacement.

4-0 out of 5 stars It works well enough
For the price it can't be beat. This unit works as advertised but don't expect more than about 250 foot of range. Keeping the unit on the default detection range I get about 1 year out of the batteries. Just remember to change them in the fall so the batteries are fresh going into the winter months. I had no problems keeping water out of the unit. Anyone who experiences moisture problems can probably put a piece of duct tape over the seam between the two halves. Overall, a good product for the price. P.S. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that a repeater was available to extend the range.

5-0 out of 5 stars Driveway Monitor Does the Job!
I used these reviews to purchase a monitor for my mother and am glad that I chose to ignore the 'highly educated engineer'. This monitor meets the needs of anyone who has a driveway and needs to be alerted to incoming guests. Perhaps the guy who underrated this product needs to spend big bucks to meet his needs. Well satisifed and thanks for having this site to help me make a decision.

We had previously purchased a cheap $29.95 monitor and it goes without saying 'you get what you pay for'!

2-0 out of 5 stars DOES NOT MEET TWO IMPORTANT SPECIFICATIONS
I've been a quality control electronic tech all my life. So I am very thorough about testing.

SPEC 1. WATERPROOF. The outdoor Sensor/Transmitter implies it is waterproof. But water got inside the unit with the first rain test. Wet battery acid vapors will eat up a circuit board and battery connections in only a few days. Although the instructions do not tell you this, a temporary solution for this is to coat the rubber gasket with silicon grease like DC-4. I said temporary because once the sun warms up the unit, the grease will ooze out and you are right back to being NOT waterproof.

SPEC 2. 1000 FOOT RANGE. This one is clever wording by DesignTech's marketing people. They state a distance "up to 1000 foot range covers most driveways" on their website. Further into their website patter they claim "up to 600 feet away". Then further in, their test results state "up to 500'". Well which is it? 1000', 600' or 500'? None of my test results ever reached 500 feet. Another reviewer here on Amazon also stated "about 300' feet, 500' was too far". Under perfect conditions, and using a surveyor's measuring tape, I consistently got 240 feet, direct line of sight, seven feet off the ground. Any distance further than 240 feet would not set off the alarm 100% of the time. Because I live on a ranch and my home is about 500 feet from my front gate, I needed something close to 400' to 500' distance.

On another website that sells DesignTech products, they advertise a $40 DesignTech Long Range antenna (including shipping) that will "approximately double the range" of the Driveway Monitor. Well that would have at least given me 480 feet. NOT SO. The best consistent range I got was 260 feet with their range doubler antenna. Funny I thought doubling 240 would give me 480 feet. By the way, their ad claims that the antenna will double the range, but the 1/2 page instructions that come with the antenna only claim to increase the range by 50%. Go figure.

I have returned the Driveway Monitor to Amazon.com with "no questions asked". I am still in the process of returning the $40.00 Long Range antenna to the "other" website and they are asking a lot of questions. They also won't pay for return shipping and may insist on a 15% restocking fee. As biased as this sounds, be prudent about purchasing products marked "Made In China". If you are really serious about security, pay the higher money to get a quality product from companies like ADT, AT&T or Wells Fargo. The $120 spent on this product is risky.

4-0 out of 5 stars It actually works on my farm
I needed a monitor for a rural area where motion sensors would likely have many false alarms from deer and other animals. This uses a sensor to detect metal objects in motion -- cars, tractors, 4-wheelers, etc.; and it works. I have had no false alarms and the range is good - about 300' feet, 500' was too far. The monitor is beside a wide dirt road - a farm road wide enough for tractors, and with the sensor set on 'high sensitivity' it has picked up every vehicle, so far.

I didn't give it four stars, because I am still wondering how long 2 'C' batteries can power the external wireless monitor. For the price, this was an excellent value.

The lamp monitor is essential for when you are watching a loud movie, listening to music, or using power tools, or maybe 2 of the 3. You may not hear the unit's chime - but you can plug in any light or siren with a normal household plug and it will turn it on when the chime goes off. It is a really nice addition to the monitor. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

For those who have always admired the bing-bong noise one hears when entering a convenience store, here comes the Design Tech Deluxe Door Announcer, a motion sensor that either chimes or sounds an alarm anytime someone opens a monitored door. Suitable for either business or home use, the unit allows users to monitor an entrance from another room, across an extremely large room, or within a warehouse. Hoping to improve service by meeting customers at the door as soon as they enter the shop? Just listen for the tone. Worried the kids might sneak into the family room before finishing their homework? Install a sensor at the entrance. Users can set the door sensor and receiver to chime together, sound an alarm together, or chime only on the receiver's end (while the door sensor stays silent). The sensor's sensitivity can be adjusted so suit various applications, and the receiver plugs into any standard wall outlet and has a 300-foot range. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Are you a little worried about dinner guests opening your medicine cabinet? Do you have a yard that attracts trespassers, despite the imposing-looking gate that protects it? If so, consider Design Tech's Motion Alert, which alerts users whenever a monitored object is moved for any reason. Whether your concern is home security, protecting your children from dangerous household items (such as cleaning supplies), or simply frustrating would-be snoopers, the Motion Alert monitors doors, gates, cabinets, furniture, equipment, or any other object you deem worthy of supervision. Mounted horizontally, the transmitter activates with even the slightest movement; mounted vertically, the transmitter requires a tilt of 20 degrees or more to activate. Once it detects movement, the receiver sounds either a continuous alarm or a door chime sound until reset. Users can program up to 16 additional sensors to monitor several objects at once; each sensor is miniature and weatherproof and has a 500-foot range. In addition, each sensor can be set to either low or high sensitivity. Simply secure sensors to objects with the double-sided foam tape or screws, plug the receiver into a wall outlet, and monitor away. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Just because those who deliver the mail don't let rain or sleet stop them from their appointed rounds doesn't mean you have to trudge out in bad weather several times a day to see if the mail has arrived. Ideal for those with mailboxes at the end of long driveways, Design Tech's wireless Mail Alert notifies homeowners or renters when their mailboxes are full. Once the mail person opens your mailbox door, a receiver inside your home chimes once every five minutes for two hours and a light constantly flashes until you reset the unit. The unit's 300-foot range should cover most driveways, and you can adjust the sensitivity of the receiver--an especially valuable feature if your mailbox is frequently rattled. Make sure your trips to the mailbox are infrequent during cold and wet winter days by welcoming the Mail Alert into your household. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Worked as expected
Having read another review of this product, I had some trepidation before ordering. I called the manufacturer's Technical Department. and was encouraged by what I heard. I decided to order, largely because of Amazon's liberal return policy. Now that I have it, I find the product to work admirably. Each time the postal deliverer opens my mailbox, the system alerts me. There have been no false alarms. I would recommend this product to anyone who is tired of repeated trips to the mailbox.

1-0 out of 5 stars Mail Alert didn't alert!
I installed the Mail Alert receiever inside my house behind a window with clear view of the mail box. The glass and window screen were the only thing between the transmitter and receiver. Distance about 175 ft. Installed transmitter as specified on mail box. The receiver would light up and beep once about 1 out of 5 times I opened the mail box door. Otherwise nothing happened. I checked the battery with a digital VOM and voltage was 3" VDC which indicated a new battery. I returned the Mail Alert device as it would not work consistantly. I did receive superior service from Amazon with full refund including postage both ways. ... Read more
