poor quality, terrible customer service
Very rough operation of lock mechanism. Bottom shelf is almost unusable because of the position of locking mechanism. I attempted to contact the customer service dept. listed on the enclosed warranty sheet. The 1-800-number listed on the warranty
sheet referred me to a 10-10- number, which was a directory who
gave me the no. of Sisco. I received my phone bill today and found the directory charged me $5.98 to give me the Brinks customer service no. So what do you think of a manufacturer who

gives you a phony 800 no. which refers you to an outfit which charges you $5.98 to give you their phone no.? This,along with a poorly designed, poor quality product. I will never buy anything
from Brinks again. I don't think too much of Amazon for dealing with Brinks. BTW I sent an e-mail to their customer service dept.

Easy to install and use
This safe is extremely easy to install and use. I own this safe and agree that it would be very hard to remove. You secure it with heavy screws from the inside that go into the wall studs. A thief would need to know your combination before they could remove it. In fact we just moved and I'm about to order another one for our new house.

Stupid NON-Owner!!! I own one, so listen up!
Disreguard the review above! This man had to "ask questions". I own one, and can tell you from experience that this safe is not able to be removed without opening the door, at least not with just a screw driver...you would need a chainsaw or sledge hammer. The screws on the front that you see in the pictures are really only to keep the front flange flush with the wall. the real support and mounting screws go into pre-drilled holes in the inside on the left and right of the safe cavity. It fits perfect if you have 16inch on center studs. Cut the drywall carefully and you will have no problem concealing the hole with the safe flange.

Looks good, but is it really safe?
After asking some questions, I learned that the only thing that will stop a thief is a screwdiver. There are 4 screws (outside corners) that hold this entire safe to the wall. If you have a screwdiver, the entire unit can be removed and stolen. Brinks can simply fix this problem by having interior holes (access only by opening the door). Long screws can secure the safe to the adjacent 2x4s, again only if you have the door open. However, the safe has steel walls and an owner can't easily drill their own holes. qual craft wall jack
The wall jack design is o.k. but I don't think it has the weight capacity it says it does. I tried to jack up a wall and the jack just stripped the wood 2x4. I used a clear doug-fir like it recomended.

Qual - Craft Wall jacks make life easy!!!
I bought a set of two of these to aid in the construction of my new house. I was able to raise 30 to 40 foot long walls of 2x6 construction with all headers installed, and sheathed on the exterior with 1/2 inch OSB!! No pain, no strain, and just myself and my wife. One consideration is to use long enough "handles" to avoid the potential fall zone. Couldn't have built solo without them. Great product!

It works!
It's crazy long and orange, but man, does it pack a powerful electric bite! All you have to do is plug the male side into an outlet, and then plug the other end into the appliance you want to run. It works like a charm! If I wanted to, I could plug in my desk lamp and walk 4 houses down, knock on the door, and be like, "Hey, look, my desk lamp still works at your house!" Works perfectly, just what we needed!
We bought an electric lawnmower and this extension cord off Amazon, and this cable works perfectly. It's just what we needed, and performs very well with our lawnmower. Quickclick
I have three extension ladders, and I don't put any of them up without the stabilizer on them. By being able to take it off, it make it easier to move the ladders. I can also use it on any of my ladders. It makes the ladder very stable. The stabilizer fits very well on the ladder.

Quickclick Stabilizer - can be dangerous
The quickclick stabilizer is not as handy as one would think. Yes, it is easy to take off and put on, but when you have a variety of extension ladder heights that you are adjusting your ladder to, it is easy to forget that the quickclick stabilizer limits the ability of the extension ladder to be placed at its shortest length. If you are not careful, when the extension ladder is placed at its quickclick impaired shortest length the quickclick stabilizer safety pin is what the ladder is supported on. If the pin should break (and it is a only a 1/8th inch diameter pin), the ladder will drop down to its true shortest length and the quickclick stabilizer will come off.

Buying my second one.
I already had one of these and since I'm now getting a whole ladder jack setup along with a second ladder, I definitely wanted one of these to go along with it. I'm sure they wouldn't recommend what I'm about to say for safety reasons, but I would point out that this item can make an aluminum extension ladder a lot more stable on slightly uneven ground. Because of the broad spread, the ladder will twist slightly to make up the difference and it's really solid!

This thing goes on or off in 5 seconds. No way would I ever get one of those bolt on kind. The cam action that holds it to the ladder looked a little iffy when I first saw it, but if you examine it you'll see that it's very well designed and I don't think you'll ever have a problem with it. I haven't.

The more you use it, the more you use it.
This is a nice strap clamp kit. The key is the adjusting system. At first I thought, why not just use a strapping tie down assembly available at the local home center, at a third of the price. After all, it is a nylon web strap and it has a tightening and releasing system. The problem is that it gives you tighteness in a racheting fashion. So you are either at one click or the next one. No fine adjustment. Additionally, without the corner braces that comes with the Vario kit, you would be catching the corners, and creating a less than equal pressure.
All told this Bessey kit is a very nice unit, and does a good job. For the money it would be hard to beat. Highly recommended.

Terrific Clamp
This clamp has come to my rescue several times when building boxes, bookshelves, or anything where I need even pressure all around an object. The mechanism for tightening the clamp tightens very well -- first you turn a gear to get the straps snug, then you turn a thumbscrew to firm it up all the way. The corner braces are great when you are tightening a box and you want to make sure the corners don't get damaged. Yes, even though it is a vinyl strap, the clamp can still make indentations in the wood if you tighten it enough.

I gave the clamp 4 stars instead of 5 only because the gear mechanism is a little awkward to use. I emphasize that it is a minor problem. Sometimes, when you are trying to turn the gear, the clamp feels a little off-balance. But once it's tight, and you turn the thumbscrew, it's fine. With better positioning of the gear, these clamps would get 5 stars, no doubt.

4 Corner clips are not enough
I recently purchased two of these clamps to try out. I purchased two of them because I needed more than the 4 corner clips that come with it. Works for Me!!! Great Product!!!
I am continually buying tools to speed up the process of hanging drywall and found this tool almost too good to be true. If you are serious about hanging drywall this tool is a wise investment. I especially like the fact that you can adjust the measurement setting so quickly and get down to business. I've used the tool now for over 4 months and do not have any operational complaints. However, I though that the packaging the tool came in was somewhat misleading because it suggested that you didn't need a utility knife. While the tool does make the long rip cut easy; you still have to finish your cut by snapping the section of drywall away from the cut you made with the tool and then use a utility knife to score along the crease on the back !!

This tool stinks, hard to use and doesnt do the job it is suppose to do. It wastes more time than it should. I can cut 5 boards to one doing it by hand.

Valuable asset to any drywall installation
I loved this tool. When it arrived we were in the beginning stages of remodeling a large warehouse. All of us shared the tool at times to make the long "rip" cut. What a snap! I'd say this tool is the first serious improvement to drywall cutting. Just be careful that you don't cut yourself when changing the blade.

Overrated
While not a bad tool, I found that using a utility knife was just as easy and fast. I used this for the first few cuts and when I needed something the tool couldn't do (uneven cuts along a sheet), I used a knife, then by the end of the job was always using the knife. Model in picture is 1755N
Wilton vises are certainly 5-stars, but the vise shown in the picture, and, we can guess, the one you will get if you order this, has a stationary base, and is apparently the model 1755N ("N" as in, "does not swivel"). If you are comparing prices, make sure you are comparing models with the same features. If you prefer the swivel base, and Wilton makes a good one, the model 1745 (just slightly smaller), sells for about the same price as is shown here. The price here is not a bad price for the 1755N, but if you are expecting to get the 1755, this is not it (note that the picture shows no subbase, and not locking clamp). You may not need or care for a swivel base, just be aware that the 1755 has one, and this, as shown and as described, does not. Currently the 1745 (has a swivel base) is listed above, under other items people who shopped for this item looked at; check it out. A swivel may be better than moving your whole bench to get a long piece into the vise.

After shopping exhaustively for a Wilton bench vise I happened across this one in an internet search, and was surprised to learn it was for sale at Amazon.

It weighs 50 lbs, a major shipping weight, but shipping was free.

The jaws are held in place with hex screws, and can be reversed. The surface on one side has ridges for gripping; on the other side, the jaws are smoothly machined.

A Woodshop Standard
These versatile clamps are simple, strong, and a cost effective clamping solution. I recomend using black iron pipe as it is softer than galvanized and therefore the clamp grabs it better. Most stores that sell black pipe will cut and thread it for free. Have them thread both ends and use a cap from a pop bottle to cover the unused end. You can the use cheap pipe unions to join the two pipes to make a longer clamp.

Why buy Pony Brand? They are superior to their asian knockoffs in EVERY WAY. Pony pipe clamps are always concentric (nearly every asian made clamp I've owned are eccentric and do not operate smoothly and require serious grinding to make them usable).

The pony's screw is larger in diameter and the threads are beefier. I have bent some asian clamps thread post but never a Pony's.

When you are gluing up a panel and trying to beat titbond's tack time and suddenly your Chinese clamp binds up on you you will say to yourself NEXT TIME ITs GOING TO BE PONY!

This is one of the last of the quality "MADE IN THE USA" tools that hopefully will never change.

Oh - one more thing - I've seen these ebay used for what Amazon is selling new ones for!

Good product, but get some clamp pads, too
I built a shed recently, making the door from tongue-and-groove decking boards. Before I could attach the 2x4 braces I needed to clamp the tongue-and-groove planks together. To fit big tools in the shed this door is 3-1/2' wide, so I needed a couple of big clamps. Two of these Jorgensen fixtures, plus a pair of 5' black pipes, did the trick quite nicely.

A few useful tidbits:

- The threaded black pipe recommended for use with these clamps comes with black grease to lubricate and deter corrosion. Clean this off before attaching the clamps so you won't mess up your wood.

- I strongly recommend getting a set of rubber clamp pads when you order your clamp fixtures. You only need one set for two fixtures. Don't gouge up your wood.

- The screw clamp fits into the orange sliding flat surface with a steel pin. One of mine came out, and I had to go get a hammer to re-assemble the clamp. I deducted one star for this, but it was just annoying rather than a fatal flaw.

- Black pipe typically comes in sizes from 1' to 5'. Shop for the pipe before buying the clamp fixtures if you need more than 5'. The fixtures take up a good half foot themselves, so 4' pipe wouldn't have worked with my 3-1/2' door.

Bottom line: an essential tool if you're trying to build something big. Recommended.

2nd best
Very good, sturdy clamps. I only rated them 4 stars because Rocklers surefoot is a much better design with equal the quality. Use galvanized pipe, same price & it won't rust or stain your work. Also for some homebrewed clamp pads take some scrap 3/4" fir plywood, it's relatively soft & doesn't split, cut it into roughly 2" x 3 1/2" pieces. Then drill a 1 1/8" hole towards one end & paint it with polyuerathane. Slip it over the pipe & screw it to the clamp faces from behind with #6 x 3/4" sheet metal screws. You'll wind up with decent clamp pads that won't stick to glue or come off of the clamp.

The Tool that Time Forgot
I've used these hoary things in my shop for decades, and they always do what they're designed to. They're cheap, versatile, nearly indestructible, and still made in the good ol' USA. However, I wonder what Amazon's writers were thinking when they described these as having a "hardened steel thrust bearing".

A Shop Basic
If you work with wood, you need a few sets of these. They're strong to the point of being unbreakable, they won't flex under any reasonable clamping load, and they stay upright and won't roll around.

One tip: Get some 3/4" foam pipe insulation and keep it with the clamps. You can cut pieces of foam to varuious lengths, and wrap them around the pipe. That'll keep your wood from getting dented or oily from contact with the pipe. ... Read more
