Great for use in a tent or around the picnic table, this compact lantern not only glows brightly but repels mosquitoes to within twenty feet. Two switches operate the lantern: one for the light, produced from four tiny but strong LED bulbs that never need replacing, and one for three different mosquito-repelling settings. Switching among the three settings every 15 minutes will increase the lantern’s effectiveness. Since only female mosquitoes bite, the lantern uses two ultrasonic tones to mimic the (undesirable) male mosquito, thus keeping the females away. The lantern also provides a setting for audible tones that mimic the dragonfly, a natural predator of mosquitoes. The light and repeller can be used either at the same time or separately.

LOVE IT!!
This lamp is great! It looks beautiful and gives off a soft amber glow to the room (to the reviewer who said it makes your whole room look red-huh? Red? Not even close). It does not give off a lot of light to the entire room-but since the shade hangs over, it is the perfect floor lamp to place near a favorite chair to read underneath which is what we bought it for to begin with. It looks a lot more expensive than it was and it was ultra easy to put together. Great floor lamp for the money! Also, the shade is not cheap plastic at all-I think that other reviewer must have been talking about a different lamp

Piece of junk
This lamp, while very pretty, is a piece of junk. I used it to read in bed and would swing the arm over the bed to read, and swing it back to go to sleep. Within ONE month of owning it, the top arm portion detached from the base - stripped from its screw grooves and impossible to reattach. No amount of glue, tape or what have you would fix it. I think if you want something more durable, look elsewhere.

I just picked this up at the store. It gives the room a nice soft light. i just think it's a great buy!

Nice glow
We received this lamp for our wedding along with the matching table lamp. We love the glow it provides but it does not give out adequate lighting for reading. We still would not trade these lamps for another! Love them! Have not had any shade problems.
