Grandpas old hand plane
I used topsaver several months ago to clean up one of the hand planes from my grand fathers woodshop. I followed the directions on the box: I sprayed the plane with topsaver and then scrubbed it with the gray scrub pad. I then wiped away rust! I was amazed to see bright shiney metal where the brown rust spots had been. I repeated this three more times on all sides of the plane unitl all the rust was gone and the paper towel wiped clean. I then sprayed it with final coat and let it dry for protection !

I have to admit I was very leary at first, but the photos on the box looked just like the rust on grandpas old plane.
After using topsaver it now looks almost like new.
It's been 4 months and it still looks like great !

I just used your TopSaver product and I had to write to tell you about my experience. TopSaver is nothing short of incredible. Besides cleaning up my saw table and jointer, I used it on a very old framing square that was so rusty you couldn't tell it had numbers on it. The square now looks new! I'm a confirmed user!

Slickest finish, does the job... but.....
First let me say that I am more than pleased with the product, it did the job as described, could not be simpler to use (apply, rub, apply, buff) the only knock I have on it is that I used it on my less than one year old Jet tablesaw with extension and the "rust juice" that came off the table surface accidentally got onto the formica top and stained it. So.. just becareful where the contaminated residue goes. I have always been impressed with the cleaning power of the 3M scotchbrite pad, and this product mates with it and cleans the rust wonderfully.

San Antonio has high humidity and *anything* left over night on your table saw will result in slight surface rust stains in the morning. I had tried steel wool, and could not get them off, I used this stuff and it took it off AND polished the metal. I tried it alone with just the scotchbrite pad, thinking it might be the reason, no dice.

The one thing that has been not made clear in previous reviews would be the remaining finish left behind. THAT IS FIVE STARS! If your table saw is not level, your project will SLIDE OFF ! I mean to say... slicker than OWL business. AWESOME, even if you don't get the rust off... it is worth it to have that finish.

The only real drawback is that once you start rubbing you get so much more shine out of the metal that you want to re-do the whole table top because it looks so good.

Not a miracle worker...
I was in the process of rebuilding my Grandfather's 50 year old Delta table saw and came across this product. While the table top was more or less smooth (pitting in a couple of places) it was a solid brown color after 20+ years of no use. I followed the directions (spray, scrub, wipe, buff), with little success. As I would scrub with the scouring pad, the wet surface would turn rusty brown, but it had little impact overall. I tried this many times, with no noticeable difference.

I finally broke out a finishing sander with fine grit sandpaper and was able to get down to the metal surface. I then tried TopSaver again, with the same results as before. I continued with the sander, then used TopSaver at the end to polish it. This appears to be effective, but car polish would do the same, and will last longer.

From the pictures on the box, as a rust remover, I suspect this is intended for more recent flash rush. For restoring old equipment, this is not the product to use. Only elbow grease will take care of that...

Restored a neglected drill press...
I bought a drill press from one of my neighbors at his garage sale. I paid less than a third of what it costs new. He had used it 3 times in as many years (even lost the chuck key). Unfortunately, his interest in using it far surpassed his interest in maintaining it. It was quite rusty when I bought it. The table, the chuck and the vertical guide post were all very rusty.

I thought given the price I'd just live with the rust, but then I saw this stuff at a local woodworker's store and decided to give it a try. It took several applications and some elbow grease, but it has made the press look practically new.

Contrary to an earlier reviewer's comments, you don't have to apply this every week. Depending on use, the instructions say once every 4-6 weeks may be enough. As for using a wire brush and a drill for cleaning, what a wonderful suggestion! And while you have it out you can use it to clean your teeth. ... Read more

Crap!
This product is crap! You'd be better off using kerosene and a tooth brush.
I was told that this product worked great on rust, well believe me when I tell you that it did more harm than it did help, it left my machinery with leopard spots.
I'm very unhappy with the results, you would think that for $30 you'd get a better product.

Boeshield T-9 is best by itself
I've been using T-9 for some years. Of the three items, the T-9 is really worth the cleaner and rust buster put together. It's too bad they're selling the kit and not T-9 by itself.

The rust cleaner is average. Flitz cleans better and is more versatile. The blade cleaner did clean but certainly not nine dollars better than a few ounces of Oil Eater, which cleaned gummy blades and bits lots faster.

T-9 RULEZ when it comes to keeping rusty crusty away from anything metal. It was even a good defense against a male dog's dislike of a metal bench and handtruck kept outside. It does stay sticky a long while so don't spritz and expect it to be instantly usable. Wet T-9 can stain cardboard boxes and fabric. The best anti-rust protection comes after letting it dry in a thick film.

I don't like T-9 on machine table tops except for storage, where it is the best thing EVER. It's sticky though. You have to clean hard before you can use the tool. The goo can get on wood and it takes strong solvent to get it out. If you live near salty water exposure, there's nothing better.

Boeshield
Bicyclists swear by this product so it must be fairly good. I used it for the first time on a new tablesaw top to prevent rusting and oxidation. The first application seemed a little sticky, but after polishing it out, it seems OK. Only time will tell if this product does what it is supposed to do...prevent rust. The alternative to this product is a good wax, talc powder or oil, (which would stain wood). So hopefully this will do the trick. I will edit this review in 3-4 months and let you know how Boeshield has performed over the long haul.

Part of a Good Maintenance Program
My first exposure with this product produced good results to remove the rust and soil stains from my table saw.

The Rust Free contains a mild acidic base. Several applications were necessary to remove all the rust and soil stains. Good ventilation should be provided to avoid the fumes. I had a problem with the spray bottle freezing up on me from so much pumping. I had to "rest" it for a few seconds and then continue pumping every now and then. The use of a spray bottle in this case is not such a good idea since it is hard to be accurate spraying an acidic solution--getting it on the paint is inevitable. I switched to a small sponge instead, the sixe of a half dollar, which worked very well and much faster. I could see the rust and soil stains being lifted off with each application.

I sprayed two light coats of the T-9 after the cleaning and the results were immediately apparent--the table saw looked brand new. I have also been using the T-9 on the shafts of my router bits to keep the rust away.

The Blade and Bit cleaner works as well as the household cleaners I have been using to clean the pitch from my blades.

The real value in this product is the T-9 protection. With it you can keep rust away far better and far longer than just using paste wax. Just give it a good cleaning first with the Rust Free and you've got a very good maintenace program with this set. ... Read more

Slipit Sliding Compound
I recently saw this product recommended on "Ask This Old House." I ordered a sampler pack from the company's webite, slipit.com. I've been very impressed! I've used it on everything from the rollers on my garage door to the drawers on my antique dressers. It has a number of benefits, it stays where you put it, it's non-toxic, and made in the US. On the downside I had trouble finding it in the retail stores.

Paper mache & Slip It.
I tried Slip it for a release agent on a paper mache project and it worked great! Left no greasy film like other products I have tried.
I am sure I will find more uses for this product.
